SuperSkillNG:
Hi,

You are right, most schools set a minimum weighted average requirement of 60% for PhD applicants.

Unlike undergraduate grading system which is based on grade point average (e.g. 90% = 70% in grade), the system of grading at

the postgraduate level is based on weighted average (90% > 70% in weight).

In the weighted average system (PG), the scores and course units are equally important.

To calculate your GPA or weighted average easily and quickly, you can make use of this online grade calculator we developed: https://www.superskill.com.ng/apps/grade-calculator/

We will also explain how to calculate it manually. Example: if a PG student enrolled for 4 courses (let us assume the

following course codes and units: ENG- 3 units, MTH- 4 units, CSC- 3 units, GNS- 2 units) and scored 65% in ENG, 70% in MTH,

52% in CSC and 85% in GNS.

To calculate the weighted average, we will multiply each score by its corresponding course units, and sum all the obtained

products together. Then we will divide the result by the sum of all the units of the courses.

That is, [ (65x3) + (70x4) + (52x3) + (85x2) ] / [3 + 4 + 3 + 2]

= [ 195 + 280 + 156 + 170 ] / [ 12 ]

= 801 / 12

= 66.75

Therefore, the weighted average of the assumed student would be 66.75%, and that is above the minimum PhD grade of 60%.

Regards.
This is very clear now.

Yes, in determining the percentage, but if your CGPA is above 4.0, you're safe. You'll beat the 60% mark. Like I was told during my M.Sc., ensure you make at least B in all your courses. For every C, you must have an A to compensate for it. Your dissertation, which is 6 units, the worst you'll be awarded is a B, unless your work is very terrible.

You're right. 5.0 is A, while 4.0 is B. Anything less than 4.0, you may have a problem proceeding to PhD.
I was told school use rough score of courses to calculate the percentage.
EducationRe: How To Obtain PhD Grade by Unigrad(op): 11:03pm On Mar 22, 2020
PatrickOkunima:
60% means 60 out of 100. Add up all your scores (course work, seminar and dissertation) and divide by the number of courses you took. If it's less than 60, you cannot go for PhD, except through MPhil.
What about the credit load of the courses?

I studied MLS, I'm currently doing my masters in MLS too.
I think you should read the work description of the various professions.
The truth is, all are peculiar in their own ways.
Currently now, MLS and Pharmacy starts as Cohess 8 for internship and cohess 9 as a starter in federal and state jobs.
Nursing is cohess 7 as interns and Cohess 8 as a starter in federal and state hospitals., maybe things will change before you graduate.

Then there shouldnt be cry of witch hunt if Ohiomhole exercise his franchise and freedom in deciding to support Ize Iyamu
As the national chairman of the party who is going to be the umpire of the primary election, he (Oshiomole) is not supposed to support any aspirants, he has to be neutral in order not to create division.
I'm not supporting any of them because each of them are fighting for their pockets, their few allies and ego.
Anyone who win the primary and the election will not make the difference.
Where are the roads Oshiomole build? most of them have gone bad and some have been repaired once or twice, a road of less than 5-6years.
Even Obaseki, what meaningful things has he done? pack thugs for streets to harass bus drivers all in the name of employment. Where is the 200000 jobs Obaseki promised Edo people?
These are just few examples, I'm saying this because I want us to stop fighting ourselves for these self and greedy politicians. Let plan ways to elect new crop of youth to take political positions.
Thank you all.

You can see that the level of corruption has eaten deep in Nigeria and Nigerians system. The staffs of APC support are to those who they benefit from not on ideology. Nigerians, when are we going to stop this our greed for quick money or benefits?
Let's revolutionize our minds to think on how to better Nigeria and not our personal pockets.
The earlier we know that these people are fighting for their pockets, the better for me and you.

Your hatred for him has no bound. But him pass you. Who is Atiku wen it comes to strategic politics.?
Why are you fighting for these politicians?
Are they paying you?
If Tinubu or Atiku becomes Nigeria president, do you think they will make any effective changes?
These people have taste power and have the opportunity to occupied political positions, what did they do with it? Is it not to make themselves, family and their close friends rich?
Why not fight for this country to have a new crop of youthful leaders and let see what will happen.
We keep on recycling these greedy politicians and expect positive change?
Haba, think twice.
If you happen to know the demages these crop of politicians have done to Nigeria, it will take a good leader years to correct.
Do you know your unborn children are in debt as a result of their borrowing? You might say it doesn't affect you, it affect you directly and directly. Look at this year budget, a little above #2trillion was to service debt. Do you know what this money would have done in this country if well utilized? The money they borrowed and they are servicing now, what did they use it for? Was it not loot?
What about Abacha loot that was returned? You heard some days ago that the federal government said they don't have the record of Abacha loot and how it was spend.
Please, let stop fighting ourselves and salvage this country from the hands of these greedy and wicked politicians.
Thank you.

In conclusion, almost all politicians in Nigeria including Obaseki and Osagie Ize-Iyamu are evil to Edo state and Nigeria at large.
Let stop deceiving ourselves and Nigerians because of what we will gain from these evil politicians, tell them the truth about their evil deeds, stop praising them.
