If we are saying Africa and African will not let us win BBA lets start by getting the Nigerians to the last five no matter how much we dislike them,the more they are in there, the more the chances of a nigerian getting the money,just be patroitic and save a nigerian, VOTE KEV TO STAY.
Culture / Re: Pictures, Slight And Sound Of Northern Nigeria. by unit(f): 1:25pm On Oct 08, 2008
I smiled through all 5 pages of this topic,thank you MC Usman and Sisikill.
It's so refreshing to see something from the north, core north. The rich cultural heritage of the north is hardly seen on the net.

@H202
Eating together is a way of bonding and trust plays a major role.I don't think any polygamous yourba family will feel comfortable eating together but its the norm in a typical hausa home.

@Gamine
You say hausa no fine,which part of the north you don visit? Have u seen fulani beauties,cute hausas or the shuwa arabs.You should learn to appreciate the beauty of things/people outside what you are familiar with.

I really miss living in the north where i can veil up to work n still look normal.
Home sweet home.

People lets be realistic here! From when i can remember things have just gone from bad to worse and it doesn't look like it will get any better and i live here in Najia.
You ask us to be optimistic and i ask what for?
Many pay taxes but the rich feed on it.
You say we should vote and i ask you if it won't be rigged to put the high n mighty in power.
We pay bills even when we don't see the light or water yet the system hasn't improved.
Teachers shouted and went on a long strike but who suffered? the masses of course! and the lawmakers increased their own salary.
As long as 'the old boys' still rule Abuja that dream will NEVER come to reality,that is the reality on ground whether we like it or not.We can dream and hope only God can make Naija better,but dreamland sure looks good!

@cayon

we have our ways even though u ain't familiar with them i think u should just accept your brother the way he is n learn to live with him n around his imperfections.Where i come from the best meals are eaten with the bare hands cos the taste of metal can spoil the actually taste of the food.Afterall he is not staying for ever.

This is very interesting!

BTW what is your defintion of black cos if u ask Obama he'll tell you he is black! How black are you?

Like Seun said if u have an accent lose it before coming to the Niger Delta or else,

Coming to nairaland to advertise yourself is not a very good move cos even MEND uses the internet undecided and could be member of nairaland.

Good luck to you and keep in touch with nairaland if you take the job so we'll know when you disappear. wink

@ poster

I really understand how you feel cos am also waiting for a man who has his focus on God and ready to settle down the Godly way.If you have waited this long that means you trusted God to take care of this marriage thing for you so why do you now want to take it from Him just when your breakthrough is around the corner and handle it your way,after all He said we should be anxious for nothing. I know that we see ladies with less faith and who are not not as devoted to God getting married and being happy but my dear all that glitters isn't gold o.
There is a time and season for everything including your marriage.Please remain holy and hold on to God cos He that started this good thing in your life will surely see it to the expected end.
If i may ask what do u think your desperation can achieve? You will just end up sleeping around and they will still not want to settle down cos they'll think you cheap.How many men do you think you will have to sleep with before you get The One.
Stay strong jere there are so many like yourself keeping the faith,remaining holy and still waiting cos we serve a God that doesn't disappoint.I'm still waiting hard as it is sometimes but I now i will make it whole n happy. I wish i could talk to you one-on-one if u are interested tell me know so my friends n i will encourage you.

At 2 my niece is more than a handful n aliyu is so naughty but i love them there are so many stories i hear from my parents about them like the first time hauwa told my mum she loves her :she said mummy mairi i like u very much it was so touching.or when aliyu told my my mum he loved her when she got him a puppy.
Will be back with other stories of how naughty they can get,like hauwa washing mummy's phone.

Business / Re: G8 Worried Over Nigeria's Nuclear Programme by unit(f): 2:25pm On Jul 04, 2008
@seunthomas

lets be real with ourselves, nuclear programme for reseach is different from trying to provide energy for the nation.Can a government that can't/won't stop bunkering and pipeline vandalisation be able to ensure the safety of a nuclear plant?
Corruption is killing the masses already,do we have to use radiation to wipe ourselves from the surface of the earth?

@Mustay

like i said am sure the GO and board have the best in mind for the school,but is it really working,are they producing all round Christian adults ready for the larger society? I used my cousin as an example and there are so many worse than my cousin that the school is producing.You should go to nightclubs and bar in various towns and you will be surprised(or not) the number of private university student you would find there, thats what lack of choices have pushed them to.

@nigerbobo

but their government officials ain't looting opening or making corruption the norm.

Wake up to realities my dear i was sick and had to wait for 4hours. Try to live in naija like the masses and you would understand what we mean.
Do these other countries have a general system failure,ain't their government working to better the lot of their citizens.

Pray do tell what works in naija?

Corruption abi! It works well and is profitable. What a shame! And we pat their backs saying all will be well.

God Save Naija!
Politics / Re: Fani-Kayode Blames Occultists For 2006 Plane Crashes by unit(f): 3:09pm On Jul 03, 2008
occult or not let me ask some logical questions

about bellview:
The captain was on board with a friend of his
the co-pilot was on board with his newly wedded wife
the engineer that checked the plane before take off was on board
a cabin-crew was on with her fiance(their tradition marriage was for the following Wednesday)

Did they all plan to commit suicide?

am sure the embassy had their reasons for denying your wife,sorry about it.

To all those naija loving Nigerians
We all love naija and wish it will be a better nation some day soon,the fact still remains that we are living in a crumbling/sinking ship.I was in the villa recently when PHCN/NEPA took light and our dearest president hasn't done anything drastic to save the situation,what of healthcare,have you guys gone to a general hospital lately where patients have to cue for hours o get attention and the doctors see each patient for less than 3mins(it happened to me and from there i went straight to a private hospital where i paid through my nose to get proper healthcare)is there hope for the massess? What of our education system and all the other sectors.What has the probes done -NOTHING. Name one government looting official that is in jail right now for crime committed-none.
So my dears wake up to the reality of our country,I believe there is hope but it going to take more than being patriotic and its going to take a very long time.
To the Eziachis of the forum
I feel you! but don't lose hope for naija lets keep praying and hoping.
Education / Re: Expulsion Scandal Rocks Covenant University: 120 Students Expelled by unit(f): 12:08pm On Jul 03, 2008
I have a cousin that attends CU right now and he lives with me in Abuja and the music he listens to are anything but 'carrying bible to general assembly' kind of music and it hurts my christian ears to hear them and to think his parents are struggling and the school is trying with all their rules to make the young man a better adult is sad. Will the rules help at the end of the day!
 I went to a federal university and I wasn't a born again "bible carrying" Christian but I lived a very straight life and am glad I pass through the university and also allowed the university pass through me which made me prepared for the bigger society as an adult,the federal universities are not so bad if a child/young adult can hold their own and not succumb to pressures I guess that is what CU is not considering, the fact that there is a bigger world for these student to deal with on their own.If they can't make decisions about things as little as carry a bible in school or signing an agreement they cant stick to how can they handle the pressures of the life after school.
Am sure the GO and school board had the best in mind for the school but someone needs to let them know that times have changed and forcing the youth to accept Christianity wont get them there.I think its time for them to learn to correct in LOVE like Jesus expects of us.Where is the Jesus example here.
To the students and parents,the rules you agreed to follow in desperation to get a education is hunting you now.All I can say is sorry but you went in with your eyes wide open.

Words cant beat acts like keeping vigil whenever we were sick,going through every exam with with us to the extent of going with us(at least up to secondary entrance exams),giving a broke adult child money and so many things i just cant put into words right now.Love is better said through actions especially in naija.
Politics / Re: PHCN Staff To Go On Strike: Very Funny! by unit(f): 10:30am On Jun 24, 2008
We are all forgetting that like our refineries the big shots in naija wont let the power sector work,how will they import generators if the power sector works or how else will the Otedolas sell their diesel if PHCN ensures power always.Its a vicious circle that will take more than the strike of PHCN to break,maybe this is their way of saying enough to the government.

Travel / Re: People Afraid of Flying: What Remedy? by unit(f): 10:37am On Jun 13, 2008
The first thing passengers forget when flying is that the captain and his crew are human too and won't risk their lives to make money for their companies.They have families back home they also want to get back to so they wont fly any faulty plane and risk making their wives widows or their children fatherless or motherless as the case maybe.
Even in naija our pilots love life too and wont risk their lives for a 50minute ride across the country just to get you your destination. So the next time you get scared because you think the plane will crash,remember the captain wont want to die trying to get you to where-ever.
Family / Re: Mom's Favorite Phrases . . . New Moms Pick your Choice. by unit(f): 11:52am On May 20, 2008
My mum's phrases always started with 'Ay ay ay' followed by pharses like
'I will kill you today'.
'Am tired of all of you(children)I will leave you and your father and go to my father's house then you will know how it feels to have a stepmother.
'Eat before I kill you'-when we refuse to eat which was often
'If i hit this your gorimapka head u will just die'

Funny we didn't die just made us better people.
The best mum in the world.

* Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.
* Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.
* Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.
* Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.
* During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.
* Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.
* Be happy to see him.
* Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.
* Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.
* Don't greet him with complaints and problems.
* Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.
* Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
* Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.
* Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.
* A good wife always knows her place

This i believe is a housewife's duty not for a career woman except you want to kill her.A wife is a partner/helpmate not a slave or househelp.If you you have any feelings for her you wont expect all the task above from her.

I don't drive in Lagos but i enjoy the madness of it all,there is nothing like it anywhere not even Newyork.
