Business › Re: Nigeria, Sierra Leone Plan Currency Swap by urahara(m): 8:51pm On Jan 02, 2020 |
Blue3k: Dont spread nonsense conspiracy theories. Nigeria had 2 decades to meet the convergence criteria yet they sat on their hands. Only francophone Togo has so far. The fact they changed the currency name to eco is no more significant than them changing it to zeni or beri.
The former CFA countries did three things. - repatriate foreign reserves from France - kicked France from monetary board - changed name of their currency to ECO Source
Lol why are you always desperate for attention? If I said some wrong correct me. Lead by example by posting something insightful on the topic. Have you noticed how none of them has been able to explain why Cape averde willingly walked into the web of the evil France by using the cfa franc ? |

grandstar: I think it's projects like this have caused the rift between him and the Emir.
The Emir a technocrat sees such projects as prestige projects. They achieve so little for the Kano populace as they aren't priority.
The money could have been better spent creating a 24 hour power industrial park that can provides thousands of jobs for Kano's large number of unemployed or underemployed.
Frankly speaking, it's money down the drain. For stating the obvious, Sanusi has become a marked man. Someone on this thread said the underground bridge is for decongestion. So I don't think this is a prestige project. |

Politics › Re: Why Nigeria Can Not Adopt The New West Africa 'eco' Currency by urahara(m): 3:05pm On Jan 02, 2020 |
AllNews1: As many as 15 countries in West Africa have agreed to adopt a single currency, called ECO, in 2020.
Experts are divided on the effect it would have on the region's economy, especially in the eight member states that use the French-backed CFA franc.
Nigeria is essentially kept out of the currency because the country will not accept the conditionalities established by France. Having the biggest economy in Africa, Nigeria wants to remain the best, why the country is still having a second thought on the Eco new currency.
The long delay in establishing the Eco has been caused by the inability of the 15 ECOWAS countries to meet the convergence criteria they set for themselves.
READ MORE: https://www.thewatchngr.com/2020/01/why-nigeria-can-not-adopt-new-west.html The person who wrote this writeup is a very big idiot. Nigeria can't use the eco not because if France but because of it has failed to meet the convergence criteria. |

grandstar: Why Morocco can produce cars is probably because they have duty free access to the EU market. This enables car manufacturers to set up car plants there. The EU market which is their captive market provides the economies of scale to ensure cars produced there are competitive.
. Why can't we set up a free trade agreement with the e.u too ? |

In most Portuguese slave colonies, a large pool of mulatto sprang up due to mixing between the white Portuguese and black population. Yh I know , I'm just surprised that in this case it is blacks that turned out to be the dominant ethnic group unlike in Brazil , the Dominican republic and so on. |
