When you say commercial, it really depends on where you want to be plying. These types of previa only work best in long distance journeys. Lagos - Akure, Lagos - Ilorin, Lagos to Abuja types of deal. If you are looking for the type of mile2, oshodi etc. You are better off with Vanagon and L28 types of bus. Look at where you want to be plying and buy the type of buses everyone else is using in the area. Much better. It will be easier to fix when you have a problem cos thats what everyone is using. Mind you, be prepared to pay between 700 - 800 for a Grade1 Vanagon bus. The only way you can get it cheaper is that if that has some issues or its not Lagos Cleared. You can get away with cotonue cleared if you are withing Lagos and will not venture out for a long time after registering the vehicle. But you never know. These customs people can be unpredictable at times but you can be prepared. That type of bus you pointed out in the beginning will not cut it anywhere. And i can bet you bottom dollar that it will be almost impossible to sell when you want to dispose it. And just to let you know, its will be more that N1m to buy brand new. You believe that. cos its small does not mean small price. No brand new bus in Nigeria will sell under N1m Good luck in your search. |
Buy this type of previa in the pic attached. Costs about N800k. (This one is actually available for sale) Rugged and highly popular. Its 4 cylinder engine. Good luck

Y dont u just buy something like a previa. how do u get parts for this one? dont waste ur money. buy something you know about and can resell in the future Regards |
Good observation. However i want you to keep in mind that the article was published in 2009. The car industry has since rebounded and making lots of money and little inventory of cars just sitting around. The CEO of Hyundai recently just said that they cannot build cars fast enough to meet demands. That is how far things has come from 2009 to 2013 Good article tho. Regards |

If its too good to be true, it probably is. NO ONE WILL JUST SENT YOU COMPUTERS AND OTHER ITEMS TO SELL OUT OF THE BLUE FROM OVERSEAS. It does not work like that. |
pato405: I wonder what comes into their minds when they come on NL advertising cars for as much as 2mil-5mil and even more. People with that kind of money buy from car-stands. For crying out loud, does anyone ever spare a though on low income earners? those who also deserve to own a car but don't really have much? cars are now regarded as status symbol because of the high price tags on them. it fast becoming a tool to wipe out the middle class and reflect the wide gap between the rich and the poor. cars that are bought for as little as £400 in UK (apx 100k)and salvaged junks from US are over-loaded with heavy goods in order to recover the cost of shipping and clearing. They are eventually sold for as much as 800k and even more - all in the name of toks. the 9ja used ones have lost their useful years, a glimpse will tell you that they have seen better days and outlived their usefulness, yet the owners want to sell them at 500k- 650k. Buying them even costs more on the long run because you'll spend a fortune trying to get them back on the roads. It all sends a signal - greed is the order of the day in Nigeria. As much as i undersatnd your explanation, you seem to be seeing thing one sided. Its not uncommon to find cars in the UK or US for about $600. Its very possible. But i can assure you that a $600 car will translate to almost N600k when it arrives in Nigeria. After buying the car, you have to truck to the port and ship. That will be about $1,300. Lets assume that you were lucky to find a car very close to the port. Trucking about $250. shipping about $1,050. Remember that trucking is dependent on distance. The farther to the port the more you pay. But to be easy on calculation, lets go with $250 Any car you get for $600 will definitely be underage. To clear any underage vehicle at the port will be about N250k. No short cut. Its ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to get a $600 that will be within the speculated years without having to repair something in the car. So lets add it all up Car $600 Transport $1300 Total $1,900 (N311,600) Add clearing of N250k Total : N561,000 That is provided all goes well. More if repair is needed (more than likely). and if you invest N560k how much do you think is enough profit? Selling at around N650k is not bad. To sell at N650k, he has to price at about N700k. I am sure if he says N650k for you, you wanna price at N550k or N600k. He will either be losing or making N40k on his investment and effort of about 6 weeks. N650k seems the fairest. Honestly, your budget will only buy a Naija used. No matter how much you have, there is something more expensive that your money. Even with N3m in your hand, you won't be able to buy a tear rubber Corolla. But somebody is in that position now. Might not be you. Reality is Reality. So let me know if there is any other way you know about it. |
HILCROWN: SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLDGood to hear. Happy Sale! |

adisarasaq: Do you know that your newly acquired Ride thatWhy do you have to come here and talk trash cos you want business? Where in the port can you pay only 20% of the duty and get away? In this day and age? Take your scare tactics down the road and use it somewhere else. |
gbonsalifus: Na na. the proper thing to say is 'Toyota and Honda cars are over priced in Nigeria'. Both brand new and used. Partly because of the demand and then the general street impression. Recent Nissan cars has slight differeces in both engine and electrical tech. Toyota and Honda are basically thesame thing with different names. eg, honda's IVTEC is exactly = toyotas VVTi, just different names. In the early histories of both companies, they were working togther. Nissan on the other hand had some major changes to their engine and other systems. But for a country like Nigeria were new tech is learnt by trial and error, the early owners of those nissan cars never enjoyed their cars as they were simply destroyed by their mechanics. The same mechanics sold the idea that nissan cars were no longer good cars. u can read more here 101carsense..comIs Toyota overpriced in the US too? Why is Toyota Corolla selling for more than civic and Sentra? Toyota has developed a great reputation, hence people are willing to pay more ALL OVER THE WORLD. INCLUDING NIGERIA! |
