what i believe is happening is that a lot of informal tax is a black hole that goes into some peoples pockets
i drive a pickup with commercial plates. this means i have to pay local govt fees yearly. there are two or three fees paid mid year. unlike vehicle license - these have to be paid at local govt. you can pay your vehicle license in a bank. but these local govt charges - they are going straight into the pockets of the task force.
there are a lot of taxes collected from artisans, hawkers etc - that are also going straight to pockets and not to govt.
even with businesses - there are often complaints from workers that tax was deducted from their payslip, but no evidence of tax payment
There is this and there's also the fact that the tax captured is really small compared to what it should be. I'll give a simple example.
According to Nigeria tax laws, As a Corporate or Individual, Every single time you pay for a service - Artisans, Plumbers, Electricians, Installers, Domestic workers, The law says you are to deduct 5% or 10% (depending on the nature of the service) as WHT from these payments. These deductions should ideally go into the govt coffers
Do you honestly think these happens?. Think about the volume of these transactions that goes on daily and then you can quantify how much escapes the tax net.
As for corporates deducting and not remiting, Not surprising though as anything goes in Nigeria. Probably bribing the tax officials.
izzou: Your argument with prosper was that many people don't pay tax.
And i am showing you that the problem, in my opinion is that a lot of taxes are unaccounted for.
4000 daily as tax means the person is earning 40,000 a day. How many Nigerians earn that daily?
Our politicians will always post data as proof that few people pay tax, but then, there is a lot more of unaccounted tax going through the back door
Not true.
The tax base in Nigeria is unbelievably low. Even to the point of ridiculousness.
Both the formal sector and informal sector are not being captured adequately for tax purposes
for those of us low IQ 70 plus thug nigga OG decrepit old men with just enough gray matter to lift a keg of petrol who are completely bewildered confused and bewildered by Ibime's explanation
we no dey form intellectual like one otemicist like that
Nothing Sophisticated. Just your typical old fashioned AL mismatch. Plus it was the regular Feds MBS with huge interest rate risk
Well...all they had to do was hold till maturity if there wasnt a bank run precipitated by the timing of the capital raising announcement.
monerozi5590: Hmmmmm! Well measurably! Can you explain sir because to me most of his policies are trier and error.
He will go down as the worst CBN governor we have ever had since 1999.
A CBN governor that played politics.
A dummy, A CBN governor that doesn't have the mind of his own. Anything Buhari says he will do without even coming up with enough convincing reasons to the president why things should not been done that way.
Perhaps, the reason why Buhari kept him is that Buhari sees him as a dummy, handbags, someone that can easily be controlled. Maybe same reason Jonathan appointed him. To do his bidding and cover his track.
DSS are after him. Maybe in the coming days we will get the true pictures why there are after him.
Someone that devalue the naira against the dollars three times? Thinking he will get different results!.
Emifiele failed as a CBN governor. He is just a politician.
This is someone who opened the vaults for Dasuki and the likes.
Nigerians and humans generally suffer from a lot of recency bias
“The Presidency wishes to react to some public concerns that President Muhammadu Buhari did not react to the Supreme Court judgement on the issue of the N500 and N1,000 old currency notes, and states here plainly and clearly that at no time did he instruct the Attorney General and the CBN Governor to disobey any court orders involving the government and other parties.
“The President is not a micromanager and will not, therefore, stop the Attorney General and the CBN Governor from performing the details of their duties in accordance with the law. In any case. it is debatable at this time if there is proof of willful denial by the two of them on the orders of the apex court.
BlueRayDick: Lmao… and who says I was discussing criminal law since ?
He say tort na concept 😂
Nobody said anything about criminal law.
All I'm saying is ure disputing a clearly obvious matter; which is why I asked you to get acquainted with it or consult a lawyer.
The weak arguments you put up for the employee being drunk or mentally ill still creates a liablility for the employer as he was obviously acting as their employee (at the time) especially given that he was doing the actual service(s) he was employed for.
Even your frolic arguments will not fly as the employee needs to be making/doing a clear departure from the services he was employed for - which isnt the case here.
BlueRayDick: No organization instructs its staff not to bey simple traffic rule . The driver will certainly go to jail if it’s confined he doesn’t have any mental issues and the government will of it’s own freewill compensate the victims .
Suing the state government is a waste of time and resources . E clear
Not true. There's a simple concept called Tort Law anywhere in the world. Get acquainted with it
This is an easy case. Even for an out of school lawyer
GloriousGbola: Rivers is only one state. Not enough to turn the election
The Irony is that wike has always had the judges in his pocket. Even with Mary odili retired, I think he still has some aces up his sleeve. This is the reason why he has always been out of control. He knows where it will end
I already alluded to this some pages earlier.
Kurtosis speaking, I havent seen anything in the declared overall results to materially alter it. Of course, this is if you have no prejudices
popizaino: Havertz is no near intelligence. I'm not surprised a bit that swiz123 describes him as been intelligent,i mean he has described Jorginho with the same adjective.
In the two most dominant ball games of basketball and football, intelligence players are mostly ultra-creative players who bring others to play with their presence and doesn't lose ball cheaply due to their inability of shielding ball.
Steve Nash,Chris Paul are often referenced when talking about players with intelligence in basketball, in football names like Pirlo,Xavi,Lampard,Ronaldinho,Lahm,Muller, iniesta,Kross,Van bommel,Modric,Rooney, Fabregas,De bruyne will easily surface when talking about intelligence players. Common traits with these players is they are really caught of guard and don't lose single dual like Havertz and can sheild their ball very well.
DissTroy: Statistica is wrong. WorldBank is the closest.
But download the GDP report from the website of the Naitonal Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria. It think they have as far back as 2013 or 2015.
Don't ever judge with Statistica. If you doubt me, compare what it says about Nigeria's total 2022 GDP and what the NBS published. At odds.
AfteeQ2, as global crunch hit and tech startups began laying off, the GDP from oil decreased. Sad because India makes almost as much money from ICT as half I'd Nigeria's GDP. We can do more.
Hi,
At the end of 2022, Oil contributed just 5.67% to the GDP of Nigeria.
Dont take my word for it, do the numbers yourself from the link below
User09: Been an extremely busy week and still cant get over the shock that was TT's sack. Was probably gonna happen with the body language and losses we'd been getting.
However, all that micromanaging and DOF balderdash actually puts Boehly in bad light to me. Seems like a scattergun idea guy and probably doesnt know what he's doing; I mean firing a football coach for non-footballing reasons. Those typical corporate speak and ethos dont work well in Football
One thing we must also never forget is these players are not as good as we reckon them to be. We just never had the depth or quality to be consistently good over a long PL season and that was never on TT. He was barely here for two years and we think all the squad issues are his fault. Bunch of averages who take the easy way out by blaming the coach
Wont be long before the Potter guy gets the sack, Seems like someone they wanted from day 1. A good yes man and can be a glorified PA. Well at least Pochettino wasnt hired
Lmao.
Fat Boehly and co stubbornly trying to justify their wrong decision. Lets see how long he can sustain this. Idi0ts
I think its obvious who's winning at this point. Only one party has been consistently first or second in most results so far.
At the end of the day based on the numbers, he was the likely choice. Anyone without a dog in the fight could have easily called it
I only hope the losers be a good sport about it. There's no need for ridiculous reactions and aspersions. As far as I know, most of these politicians are one big family.
Exonerate1: My stance on potter has always been the same. He's a project manager and if we aren't willing to give him time then there's was no point appointing him in the first place.
Yes the results haven't been going our way lately but it also lacks some context. And I'm not making excuses for the manager at all
Color me naive or st^pid but what does the bolded mean and what milestones can we use to appraise him
Jodera: Jorginho have played 3 matches for arsenal and the only match he hasn't even being praised is against Everton.
He was one of our best Midfielders against Man city (I even alluded it in my thread) and also one of the best Ystdy. Tho, like I said so far, the only thing that's his weakness is just the defensive phase.
But I'm not even talking whether he is good or not. I'm just surprised the criticism which he was known for as being a back passer or sideway passer wasn't really evident in his last two matches.
This has never been true. Popi was just obsessed with elegant passes
With Jorginho, the spaces and movements determines his passes
Bimffo: Jorginho has his strong points, and that's the leadership thing. Pointing hands like a conductor is his thing.
And that's the same thing he does when we are defending. He points hands to Grandpa Silva to even help him out. Papa wey we dey manage.
The shot he played yesterday, he has never played in a Chelsea shirt. He has never attempted it for the last 6 years, but if I woke up from a coma yesterday, I would have thought the weyrey has been playing that kind of shot for the better part of the decade.
Wrong on all grounds
Jorginho's mind works in terms of where the ball is moving to and where the player should be. When he points, he's directing the player in those.
Take a look at the video again and watch his movement closely. I dont understand why you guys cannot see it. I would never appreciate those headless chicken thugs that gets praised as midfielders.
Someone said earlier that if you put 2-3 players on him, he'll falter. Ideally this should be a severe disadvantage to the opposing team if his midfield partner works in sync - (There are days Kovacic works well here). U'll easily see the numerical advantage if the ball is moved faster to take them out.
To be fair when I watched the game in real time, I thought some of the blame should go to Mudryk.
Then watching the replays again, I thought Ziyech was also stupid for jumping into the press. Then of course Enzo for his part
The problem here however is some people have set a precedent by blaming the DM for every goal conceded especially with the escorting rubbish talk. And by the way, I hope you guys realize that Enzo's game does not rely on pace, so get ready to defend more of this
Football has and would always be a system sport. Multiple failures are typically mostly responsible for goals conceded.
Setting up a team for counters after corners should be straight forward for Potter. Those are basic tactics
