Ibime: lol. What I read was not your usual lazy journalism where they say "such and such manager wants to sign X player even though the player may be a youth player the manager never even thought about". It was an in-depth report about the ins-and-outs of the transfer, how Chelsea technical team have been scouting him for 3 years and feel he is a generational talent that they don't want to escape into the hands of other big clubs and how the pandemic put Chelsea in a financial position other big clubs can't match at this moment so they felt they had to go for him now or risk losing him. It also detailed how Frank was resistant to the idea, deeming it unnecessary and telling the board that Rice was more necessary instead, but in the end said OK since the technical team and board are behind the Havertz signing, no wahala. Those are the sort of detailed reports I pay attention to, not your usual lazy transfer rumours. I wish I could find that report now.
Yes, we are inconsistent, but those are mostly to do with injuries, and having to fit in incongruent players like Havertz into a system. We were flying on a 17 match unbeaten run until Ziyech got injured, compounded by simultaneous injury to Odoi and return of Havertz from Covid which turned our midfield that was working well in his absence to rubbish.
As for those saying cross and nod is our tactics, isn't that what they accuse Liverpool of. The fact is that when a team sit in low block, the most likely way to penetrate them is by your fullbacks as that's the only area of the pitch with space. This is somewhat compounded by lack of a mobile and powerful striker that can offer other options. Cavani would have been perfect in that regard. You can't play ball into Abrahams feet to build an attack through the centre without him tripping over, likewise you can't give Giroud a ball in behind or slightly wide to drag players out of position.
These are the tactical considerations that we think of when watching the game, not just joining in scattergun criticism that has no head or tail. This man is in love with Lampard. U've blamed the board, Havertz and everyone else but the coach and his incongruent tactics. The guy thinks Ziyech coming back solves the problem, He's so in for a rude awakening Newsflash - Lampard days are numbered in that team with such results. Spin it however you like. |

nateevs: JM never used Ozil in the PL. And Fabregas was not lazy. He was also press-resistant. As of now, Havertz doesn't look to be either of those - hard working and press-resistant.
At this point, Havertz cannot even match Dele Alli's non-existent work-rate, and you think he will come into a JM PL side? Lol No further comments |

nateevs: Your trolling will be redundant, because unlike you, I back all Chelsea players; young, old, experienced, new.
My ultimate desire is for Havertz and Werner to come good. What I do know as well is that for that to happen, both players have a lot of adaptation to do. This adaptation has nothing to do with Lampard or Mount. It's a function of how they play and how it relates to the PL.
They both need time and space on the ball to be effective. The PL is unforgiving to playing styles of such nature. In fact, it's so obvious, even the TD of Bayern mentioned this as the reason why they opted not to buy Werner. This is why it makes no sense to keep hating Lampard for seeing this inadequacy and setting up his team to deal with the inadequacies. You think Havertz will be in the side if JM was Manager?
Werner needs to slow down a little, to think before the ball reaches him; whilst Havertz needs to hurry up and think before the ball reaches him.
Both players need to improve, as does everyone in the team, including those I vehemently support. Nope. Same Mourinho who would always use Ozil and gave him some of his best career stats. Same one that bought Fabregas. As defensive as Jose is, he never plays with his creative channels Lampard is not setting up any team to deal with the inadequacies. Infact he's doing the opposite. 2 years later, We still do not know what Lampards playing pattern or coaching philosophy is When are you guys gonna say things for what they are regardless of your favorites. |

Our best game this season was against Sevilla where Havertz played the number 10 position.
I would keep saying it that the lack of midfield creativity is our major problem.

Christensen chose to lie on the floor despite it being obvious that the ref wasn't going to stop the game. The bubbling idiot forgot that he occupies a crucial position on the pitch. When he was on the floor, the only thing my mind told me was that Villa is going to send a cross into the box, and they did.
Lampard chose to Field a bastard without heart when we desperately needed a win.
My patience is wearing thin. However insensitive this may sound, this is looking like a recurring theme with Christensen as he did the exact same thing in the FA Cup |

Ibime: Same reason Bernardo Silva used to press like Bobby despite not knowing what to do with it, and Pep always played him. Pressing in an attacking team is fundamental in modern football. The player pressing usually doesn't win the ball but the opponent makes mistake and gives it to his teammate. Good percentage of goals in football come from this. Yeah... However, Does this apply to our team? What is the opportunity cost of having a presser in the team |

iamJ: Mount truly doesn't play trough balls, both above or on the ground, his passes are generic
The only thing he does, is to press and ginger forward like someone with purpose then make a simple pass, take corners and free kicks, pose well to look important
This season is gone, they will either beat us or we draw, if we win, it will be luck, any team that knows what they are doing will beat chelsea easily, we are playing like feeder teams, crosses and stupid movements I really dont understand the obsession with this. I mean, What's the point of pressing if u dont know what to do with the ball when you get it. Yet our midfield is one of the most easily bypassed in the league. Ibime: How about just trap the ball and pass, then make runs into space like Richarlison and co? Who asked him to dribble? Simple trap and pass, he can't. Oya score one on one with keeper, he can't. If he can't trap, pass or score one-on-one, please remind me why you want him to play striker again? Will he not need to do these things as basic elements of CF play?
Stop making excuses for a player out-of-form. On a normal day when in form, he is even able to dribble decently on the wings sef This I agree with. Added to a loss of confidence given all those misses. Missing lots of chances are really common territory with strikers - Aguero, Aubameyang, Salah, Suarez... Not getting the chances are bigger worriers for strikers Here is my theory though, he gets more chances and more goals - I would even wager more misses playing CF. The Werner criticism is not justified given he hasnt been setup to succeed - Isnt he supposed to be our long term striker. |

Ibime: Overanalysis of a player in poor form. Na from the same wing wey players like Son dey make diagonal runs. This season Werner and Salah are evenly matched for big chances per 90 mins and almost the same for shots in the box. I don't know how whether him starting the game as winger or SS will affect his ability to finish a one-on-one with the keeper in the box. Are you saying that merely by the fact he nominally started the game at SS means he will finish the exact same chance than if he nominally started the game on the wings?
Werner will come good eventually. He has too much speed not to. We just need to realise he is limited outside of pure speed. Son is a different class of player to Werner. He likes to take on players and dribble; all classic attributes of a winger. Werner doesnt and cannot beat the defense from the wings, So why should Frank keep deploying him to the wings? The Player himself has said he's a 9 and prefers to play CF , I wonder what the argument is about |

Amoto94: Mount is undroppable the work he does is too important though it may not be too pleasing on the eyes but it leaves others the license to operate. Werner's and Tammy can and should play together because they complement each other well what we to work on is our passing between the lines and quick switch of play. How many through balls did our attackers receive in recent games? Absolute mediocre numbers. Also, Reece James and Chillwell should stop bombing forward at the same time because this will create numerical superiority for our opponents since our midfielders of late have been finding it difficult to track runners and losing possession in dangerous areas. Not True. Fun fact - Did you know that Mount lost the ball 10 times in the Arsenal match, second highest behind James at 17; Imagine the outcry if it was Havertz. We've been down this road with Willian - All hustle, no end product. I dont see why he should be a guaranteed starter in this team, at least not going by his stats Another Fun Fact, - Through balls from our midfield players this season 2 - Kai, Jorginho, Ziyech. 1- Kovacic, 0 - Kante, Mount |

The entire team played rubbish today, singling out Mason Mount is distatesful and disgusting. Please keep your backyard analysis to yourself I'll ignore ur rude comments and respond just this once. Look the team suffers from creativity when Mount plays. This is the honest to God truth There is no one to carry the ball up the pitch and feed the attackers. The dynamics of the midfield is rubbish with Mount in it. Look at Man-city team, Kova and Kante in the middle with Mount rotating for Kovacic is our best play. We should start relieving our attackers of too much defensive responsibilities since we have never got a reliable central forward. This. We are so focused on defensive responsibilities when the problem is creativity and attack. This is so clear to the blind. Why cant we just use a 4-2-1-3, This would really play to the strength of our players. That double 8 nonsense Lampard persist with is just not working. nateevs: I will enlighten you. He is not a winger. He is a forward player. And all he has to do is play as Left or Right Forward when selected. Like Mane, Jotta, Martial, Rashford, Mbappe, Lacazette, Son, Jesus all can.
The difference here is that these players have more than average football intelligence. Hold-up play is top-notch and ball control in tight spaces allows them to play those positions well.
No one is calling Rashford or Mane a winger when they plays from the left. Why are you guys insistent on repeating this stupid question?
Do the fucking basics right. Hold up play when you can't move forward, find a player and move into space. Simple.
But the reason he cannot play the role consistently is because his first touch lets him down, time and again. This may not have been a problem for him in the Bundesliga. In the PL, he will not get the time and space to play as a CF with poor touches.
The fact that I have to explain this to you is all the proof I need that you don't know what you are saying. U contradict urself a lot Have u by any chance looked at our formation? |

What analogy are you trying to draw from here. You are using the benefit of hindsight to seem all-knowing. If he played CHO today, do you expect CHO to play again Villa as well? So what happens when CHO doesn't play against Villa for rotation sake, and then we have another sub-performance? You will come again and say CHO should have been started? Lol. Check my post history. I have been consistent with this. |
