The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum has assured Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, deputy governor, Philip Shaibu and their teeming supporters, who joined the party on Friday, of accommodation and level playing field. The Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal-led PDP Governors’ Forum also wished Obaseki God’s blessings and guidance as he subjects himself to the forthcoming primaries of the party. The PDP governorship primary in Edo State is slated for Thursday, June 25th. The forum, in a statement by its Director-General, Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum, described Obaseki’s entry into PDP as a homecoming to a democratic platform that accommodates all Nigerians desirous of good governance, accountability and deepening of democratic tenets. According to the statement, “We welcome you to the PDP Governors’ Forum under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR and all other PDP Governors in the Forum. “Your entry into the PDP family is a homecoming to a democratic platform that accommodates all Nigerians desirous of good governance, accountability and deepening of democratic tenets. “The PDP Governors welcome you to use the PDP as a vehicle to enthrone rapid economic, social and infrastructural development of Edo State. “As you subject yourself to the forthcoming primaries of the party, we wish you success and God’s blessings and guidance. “The Forum extends the solidarity and support of your colleagues to you and all of your teeming followers into the party and assures you all of accommodation and level playing field.” In the same vein, the Obaseki Mandate Forum has congratulated the Edo state governor and deputy governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu for taking a bold step in quitting the All Progressives Congress, APC for the PDP. National chairman of the forum, Chief Nathaniel Momoh said the group considers Obaseki’s defection as one “that was long in coming following the poor handling of his aspiration by the Adams Oshiomhole-led All Progressives Congress. “We believe this is a positive step in the right direction and a clarion call on members of the forum to double our efforts to ensure his victory at the poll. “We salute his consistency, courage and patience in everything he stands for with the ultimate goal of making sure Edo’s interest is jealously guarded. “We in the Obaseki/Shaibu Mandate Forum are elated over the new political party identity of the governor and call on all Edo people to stand by the governor irrespective of tribe or creed. “It is critical that all Edo people stand with Obaseki in his new political party especially as it offers Edo state the continuity in the development strides of the governor,” the statement read in part. The group also reminded the electorate of what awaits them adding that “a second term for Obaseki is another opportunity for consistent development across Edo state.” The statement continued: “We state that support for Obaseki is support for progress, development and advancement to all parts of Edo state just as it is a support against the plot to enthrone a godfather, whose role in politics is to de-emphasis development and run a reward for bad governance.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/06/edo-guber-pdp-governors-mandate-forum-pledge-support-for-obaseki-shaibu/

JEALOUS LOVER SETS EX-GIRLFRIEND’S FAMILY OF NINE ABLAZE — BECAUSE HE ‘INVESTED HEAVILY IN HER’ Deji Adenuga, a jealous lover, has set ablaze a family of nine in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo state. Adenuga’s evil action in setting ablaze the family followed a dispute between him and his girlfriend identified as Titi Sanumi, which forced the latter to quit their long-time relationship. Our source gathered that the incident occurred on Adetuwo Street near a popular hotel in Ayeka/Igbodigo on Igbokoda Road, Okitipupa, at about 2:35 am on Tuesday. It was revealed that Adenuga, an ex-convit, brought a jerrycan laden with petroleum in the midnight, gained entrance into the building by breaking a window, and sprayed the family while they were asleep. Two of the family members immediately died in the fire while the remaining seven were rushed to the Trauma Centre, Ondo, where they all gave up the ghost. The dispute between the suspected arsonist and his estranged lady was said to have been reported earlier at the Okitipupa Divisional Police station, and settled. However, dissatisfied with the settlement by the Police, the suspect was said to have stormed her family house to set it ablaze. Sources who further confirmed the incident said the lovers had been in a relationship for four years, which is known to everyone on the street. We exclusively learnt that Adenuga was angered that Titi decided to quit the relationship after he had invested heavily in her. One of the sources, Femi Adeusi, narrated how the two lovers had been having disagreements. Adeusi, a close friend to the lovers, said: “What really happened was that both of them had been having dissagrements in recent times and the guy always told us how he had invested in the lady. “But things became bad when Titi told his boyfriend that she could not cope with the relationship again due to daily disagreements. They had to drag themselves to the police station for settlement. Also, we tried to make them come back and play mature but it’s like there is a secret between them that is dark to us because not even Deji was willing to make peace. “It was like a filmtrick when we were told that he went to set the family’s house of Titi on fire and people who were sleeping in the building died in the inferno and few of them could only escaped. “We gathered that he decided to set the house on fire to punish Titi and not even knowing that the lady had travelled outside town the previous day after their big fight. It is sad he killed innocent persons in the family house while he himself has run away from home after perpetrating the evil act. Police have visited the scene and promised to investigate it.” Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the case to our source , saying: “One Victor Alade came to report the case to the Police… that seven of his family members were set ablaze in their sleep. “He told us he suspected one Deji Adenuga but that he ran away from town after perpetrating the evil act. Investigation has already commenced. Our officers visited the scene and evacuated the corpses. So, I can assure you that our officers are already on the trail of the suspect, and in no distant time we shall apprehened him.”

Osinbajo makes revelations about Tinubu Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday hailed former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, for his doggedness over the years. He spoke at the 11th Bola Tinubu Colloquium held in Abuja. He described the event as a celebration of a man who has spent the last thirty years of his life in creative and catalytic public service. “He has from his days as Governor of Lagos State, provided clarity of thought and pioneering vision in all aspects of governance”, he said. “He is not a lawyer, but there are few Nigerians who have provoked so many legal controversies and constitutional challenges, resulting in several landmark judicial rulings, especially in the area of federalism, and what today is loosely described today as restructuring. “Many of us know, of course, that he is not an engineer, but a lot of his vision is what is responsible for what we see today in Lagos. The BRT, the Lekki Industrial Zone, even the Eko Atlantic Project, a private project which he initiated as governor of Lagos state and of course, the reform in the tax system in Lagos. “Today, Lagos earns more in Internally Generated Revenue than 31 States of Nigeria put together. That reform began in 2001with the very innovative way in which he reformed the tax system and created an independent system – the Lagos Inland Revenue Service. Several African countries and States of Nigeria have engaged the LIRS as consultants for their own reform efforts. “How about electoral reform? In 2007, when our party, then the ACN, was rigged out of the elections in Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and in Edo state, Asiwaju invited me to his residence at Bourdillion. He said to me that the only way by proving that there were multiple voting is by going through the courts, i.e. proving that a few people simply thumb printed the ballot papers, dumped them in ballot boxes and they were counted in favour of the opposition. “He then said to me that the only way we can do it is by somehow proving by forensic evidence that this is exactly what happened. I said to him that nobody has ever proved an electoral petition by forensic evidence; there is just no history of it. And I said what is, even more, is that there are over a million ballot papers, about 1.3 million ballot papers in all the States. So, how can you prove multiple voting? He said to me “Yemi, you have heard my view about this issue, just go and find a way of sorting this out. “So I went to the UK and met with possibly the most experienced finger print expert in the entire United Kingdom, a gentleman called Adrian Forty, introduced to me by some of the Queen’s Counsels. When I told him the enormity of the problem, he laughed and almost fell off his chair. He said in almost 50 years of his experience as a fingerprint expert, he hasn’t done up to 4000 fingerprints, and now we asked him to do 1.3million fingerprints. “We parted that day which was a Thursday, and then he got in touch again on a Monday and said we should discuss further. Somehow, we designed a way and used a bit of technology. Most importantly, we got the number of fingerprint experts that have never been assembled before, and we hired 63 of fingerprint experts. “50 of them were from the UK Police. What was more interesting about that is getting the UK Police to support us was for Asiwaju to come all the way from Nigeria to the UK to talk to friends and people who he knew, to persuade persuading the UK authorities to allowususe UK Police. “In the end, they allowed us to use the Policemen in their spare time. We got 63 policemen working flat out for almost 6 months. We were able to put together, for the first time in the history of elections tribunal in the history of the world, we put together a solid forensic case that showed all of the places we were defeated was on account of multiple thumb printing. “We also showed that for instance, you cast 20,000 votes, when we calculated the time to cast one vote, it is usually about 5 minutes but we discovered that our friends in the other political party were able to cast that number of votes in 5 seconds. All they were doing was simply thumb-printing booklets, as many as possible. “We demonstrated this in court, and one by one, we were able to get back the States that had been taken away from us. The only way that could have ever been achieved is surely not just by the vision, but by the determination of our leader at that time, the leader of the ACN. He showed the kind of leadership that was very rare and not only defining what he thought was thewayforward, but also supporting it in every way and backing it to the very end. “The last State that we finally won was Osun State, after almost 3 years of battling. One of the things that we would agree about our celebrant today is his dogged attitude and his refusal to accept no for an answer. “Asiwaju also pioneered merit in cabinet appointments in particular. I want to emphasize this because a major draw back we have, as a nation, is the way we are blindsided into thinking that we can avoid merit and expect to achieve great things. We simply cannot avoid merit. “Asiwaju demonstrated in the years when he was governor, that political appointments, especially cabinet appointments, should be based on merit. He looked for those that he considered the best possible material at the time regardless of where they were from. “For the first time in the history of Lagos State, we had cabinet members from other parts of the country, beginning with other parts of the Southwest. Rauf Aregbesola from Osun State, I from Ogun State, Arthur Worrey from Delta, Lai Mohammed from Kwara State, Dele Alake from Ekiti State, Ben Akabueze from Anambra State. “We also had the appointments of Judges from all over the country;JusticeOnyeabo, and Justice Sybil Nwaka were appointed Judges of Lagos State. There is no other State elsewhere in the country except in some places in the North, where we have seen the appointment of individuals from other States. Picking people for positions no matter what part of the country they are from is an important part of our story as a country. “Every once in a while, I think that history gives us one or two persons who are gifted transformative leaders. I believe that our country has been gifted with this transformative leader, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I believe very strongly that this man’s political trajectory has only just begun. He is a man who has tremendous giftings and God has great plans ahead for him.” |

AKPABIO ORDERED TO VACATE SEAT FOR OSHIOMOLE AT TINIBU’S COLLOQUIUM ON 28TH OF MARCH 2019 AT ABUJA A mild drama occurred yesterday as Sen. Godswill Akpabio was asked to vacate his seat for Adams Oshiomole, the All Progressive Congress National Chairman during the Tinubu’s Colloquium held in Abuja. 11th colloquium, commemorating the 67th birthday anniversary of National Leader of Bola Tinubu, held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. The development, as colloborated by Guardian Newspaper reports stirred side talks and brief unease around the hall as personalities who sat close to the scene mumur “UNCOMMON DETHRONEMENT”, expressing shock that AKPABIO who until his defeat at the recently concluded National Assembly polls wielded tremendous influence in National politics and was highly esteemed and respected by even Political figures greater than Adams Oshiomole, could be asked to get up from his seat for Oshiomole. |

The last may not have been heard of the saga which the viral video of the 7 years old girl, Success Adegor who was sent away from school over her inability to pay ‘school fees’ have generated in Delta State. Ms. Adegor who was a victim of ‘illegal levy’ foist on parents in some of the state’s public schools was asked to go home over inability to pay ‘school fee’ but reports later say it was ‘examination levy’ that was demanded from her by authorities of Okotie-Eboh Primary School in the Urban Area of Sapele, Delta State. A dependable source from Government House in Asaba told BIGPEN ONLINE that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who was embarrassed over the development had directed thorough investigation into the claims that school fee was being collected in the said public school, those responsible for the charges, as well as officials who supervised the collection and remittance. Already, a team of investigators comprising of the commissioner for Basic Education, Chinedu Ebie, and officials of State Universal Basic Education Board have been directed to under go a fact finding mission to the school to unravel the true position of things and those responsible for the dastardly act. Our source disclosed that the development is already causing tension at the headquarters of SUBEB and Ministry of Basic Education over claims that several public schools under the watch of the government top officials in Asaba have been embroiled in school fees/levy scam as well as teachers posting and transfer scandal. BIGPEN ONLINE learnt that Governor Okowa has been inundated with series of claims and petitions concerning the shady deals ongoing in most public schools particularly primary schools in the state involving Local Government Education Secretaries in various council areas and officials of Ministry of Basic Education, Post Primary Education Board, PPEB and SUBEB. Our source disclosed that Governor Okowa was particularly worried over pictures of the dilapidated state of the school which had never been brought to his notice by officials saddled with responsibilities to supervise and mark public schools in the state for renovations. Besides probing into the issue of the little girl, the governor was also concerned about the poor learning condition of the pupils in the school located off Macpherson road in the ancient city of Sapele as depicted in the photographs as well as why the school have remained under developed. Pictures of the dilapidated and tattered classrooms, school building without decks, without ceiling, with rust all over it have been trending on the social media after the news of how little Success was sent home from school first hits the internet. But the Delta State government in a bid to wiggle out of the mess had claimed that the school may not be a public school as “public schools in Delta State are completely free from tuition fees, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu had said in a statement in Asaba on Friday. “We have also watched the video and read several comments on the matter where mischief makers tried to put culpability on the State Government. While we empathise with the little girl and her parents over her ordeal, it is important to state that Delta State Government runs free education at both primary and secondary school levels in all public schools in the state and therefore it is impossible to assume that the little girl was sent home from a public school in Delta State, Okowa had earlier said. The governor who in the statement had empathised with the little girl and her parents over her ordeal, however mentioned how much efforts his administration have put in to standardise public schools in the state. “It is also pertinent to state that the Okowa led administration since assumption of office has built and reconstructed over 4,000 classroom blocks and provided furniture, learning and instructional materials to public schools in the state with a view to making them conducive and competitive with the private schools. “The Government has equally trained and retrained teachers in the employ of the State Government with a view to making them adapt to modern teaching techniques hence the establishment of an ultra modern Teachers Training Institute at Owa-Oyibu Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr Okowa added. |
Remember the Nigeria vs India (1-99) match everyone talks about? Here’s all you need to know about it. Virtually everybody born before the invention of the internet must have heard the tale of a nonexistent football match between Nigeria and India that obviously took place in a parallel universe and somehow we got to hear the gory stories of that match. Though there are many variations of the story, every prevaricator seems to agree on a couple of facts about this fictional football match. Each storyteller agrees that; 1. This match ended with India scoring 99 goals and Nigeria scoring just one goal. 2. Nigerians where unable to kick the ball because the football kept turning to a lion (or something scary) to prevent them from playing the soccer ball. 3. The Indians later agreed that if Nigeria could score a goal, they would concede defeat. 4. Samuel Okwaraji scored the winning goal and lost his life in the process. 5. FIFA banned India from soccer because they used black magic in that very game With the help of common sense (not that it was absent back then), quick access to information and the internet, every right thinking Nigerian has come to realize that such a story should be filled under blatant lies. The truth untold below: Why Did This Story Thrive For So Long? Most people like to pass off this story as true with the fact that no one has ever seen India in an International Football Match. Since no one actually saw India participate in most international soccer games, this gave a little credence to the story. India. Another reason this lie could thrive for long was the fact that credible information was not readily available at our finger tips. It not like every Emeka, Audu and Ojo could visit Google in a matter of minutes and tell our ominous fabricators that they should stop spreading toxic lies. And to be honest we have a tingling feeling that this lie was concocted by an elder of a community because, let’s be honest who questions the words of the elders in Nigeria. Remember, what an adult sees sitting down a child will never see even if he consults Google, Siri or Cortana. The Element of Truth In This Story Sam Okwaraji was the player rumored to have lost his life in that game when in truth he died during a FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Angola in the 77th minute. He collapsed and died of cognitive heart failure. May his soul rest in Perfect Peace. AMEN So that is the only truthful thing about that story, the fact that a Nigerian player died during a football match. That’s it. The match was not against India, we did not lose the match and as you must have guessed, and there were no lions either. What Is The Deal With India Anyway? India qualified for the 1950 FIFA world cup as a result of the withdrawal of their scheduled opponents. But the Indian football governing body, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) decided against going to the world cup, being unable to understand the importance of the event at that time. Some of the Reasons shown by the AIFF included the cost of travel, lack of practice time, team selection issued and valuing the Olympics over the FIFA World cup. It should be noted that FIFA agreed to bear a major part of the travel expenses, but it did not really help their decision making. Was India Banned For Refusing To Play Barefoot? No. The 1948 London Olympics was India’s first major international tournament, where a predominantly barefoot Indian team lost 2 -1 to France. Following the 1948 Olympics FIFA imposed a rule banning barefoot play. The belief that the Indian team refused to play because they were not allowed to play barefoot is not entirely true according to the then team captain who said it was just a story to cover the disastrous decision of the AFIF. After the 1950 fiasco, India has never come close to qualifying for the World Cup. The reason you do not see India in World Cup competitions is because they do not qualify. So Does The Indian Team Wear Soccer Boots? Related image Yes. In the 1952 Olympics, the Indian team lost 10 – 1 to Yugoslavia (talking about taking a beating). As a result of this magnanimous defeat the AIFF made it compulsory for its team members to wear boots Is it Possible to win a match with a 99 – 1 match margin? Yes. It is absolutely possible to rake 99 – 1 from a single football match. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and see how this is even possible. Now allow us to digress. The highest scoring soccer game was 149-0! Image result for highest scored game in soccer You’re probably wondering how a soccer team could be so bad that they let 149 goals be scored, but the truth is it was a form of protest. The event occurred in 2002 after a 2-2 draw between rival teams Stade Olympique de L’emyrne, or SOE, and AS Adema of Madagascar, which resulted in the referees awarding a penalty causing SOE to lose the game. During a match fixing debacle in Nigeria, the Feeders scored 72 of their 79-0 victory in 45 minutes of play. Police Machine scored 61 of their 67-0 victory in the second half. At one point, they scored four goals in a minute. Arbroath won Bon Accord 36 – 0 in 1885. It held the largest margin of victory in professional football where both sides wanted to win. So, yes, given the “right circumstances”, a team could actually receive 99 – 1 beating without any black magic. |
ANN Governorship Candidate; Ademola Ogunbanjo, featuring on OGUN 2019 GOVERNORSHIP as special Guest. Excerpts. "I’m running to win. The track is open to all. Let the race begin. We will see at the end of the line." How do you intends to run an all inclusive government where everyone benefits maximally without bias? We are a state of diverse interests, but our aspirations are common. Our people are tired of existing or surviving; their aspiration is to thrive where they’ve been planted. The programs we have planned will cut across all the districts and social classes. I am running for Ogun State Governor, not Ijebu or Ogun East. Our programs ‘no go look face’ or consider party affiliations; that’s actually unconstitutional. We will also appoint highly qualified people from across the state into various offices in my administration. We are committed to setting the gold standards for governance in Ogun State - he said. On Agricultural Sector, what's your plan? The State will be the food basket of the region (South West). You must know that our land is 74% arable, and to extract the full potential of this resource, we must invest in seeds for yield optimization, encourage the formation of agric cooperatives across crops cultivation categories and empower them with mechanization, encourage private sector investment in agriculture, create what I call the Ogun Youths in Agriculture- OYA program, and actively pursue the produce to product agenda. How do you intend to win, considering the factors like money bag politics and majority concentrations on either PDP or APC? Faith without works is dead. Faith with works will produce good success. We will keep working. We will keep engaging the people. We will continue to go from village to village and town to town. We will without repentance sow the seed of hope in the hearts of our people. We will raise disciples who will water the seeds, and we will let the scripture come to pass that says “Paul sows, Apollos waters, but only God gives the increase”. We will do everything you must do if you’re running for office to win. We will only leave out vote buying, because that’s not the kind of increase God gives. Given the infrastructures are provided in the rural areas, how do you which to attract the medical personnel to those areas? And the cases that need to be referred to urban areas, will be sent out through what MODES? You already solved the issue in your question, sir. You alluded to poor infrastructure being in the way of good healthcare delivery; so, we solve the infrastructure problem. We run a mobile healthcare program if we must. We upgrade or build brand new hospitals with standard facilities. We make rural postings for health workers attractive. That’s what we do in Oil and Gas; we send people to the fields with incentives, and we rotate their postings regularly. We engage missionary health workers if we must; they’ve always been more interested in the rural areas anyway. What strategies would you put in place to ensure compliance to constituted regulations will be beyond your power to influence its actions and inactions, if you eventually become the governor of Ogun State? One of the ways to ensure that all arms of government do their jobs and are allowed to enforce the law without favoritism is to empower the press. Give them unfettered access. They are the mirrors of society; they show us who we are. When they’re broken, cracked or with blemish, our reflection is distorted. Governance is public service; let the press show the public what you’re doing, and everyone will begin to behave themselves because of public scrutiny. Allow enforcement. Lead by example. Don’t condone impunity even from your closest allies. Just allow the rule of law reign supreme. I recently told a friend of mine he’d go to jail if he gets a job from my administration and doesn’t deliver. I MEANT IT!!! #Utility Mayor

Ignorance is when someone asks a Nation Builder like Fela Durotoye with technical know-how and good heart for his political experience. Look at where we are as a Nation courtesy of the political experiences of people like Babangida, Obasanjo, Buhari, Jonathan, Saraki, Tinubu and Co. To make Nigeria a DESIRED NATION where the systems work for its citizens and foreigners; we need competent people with leadership experience, character and love for humanity and not political experience, corruption and hatred for humanity. We do not need same old cankerworm politicians with their unproductive years of political experience. Their political experience has landed us extreme poverty, hunger, unemployment and hopelessness. Trust me, the same people that destroyed the system cannot build it. If they were builders, they would have built a great Nation for us all. Yes, Fela Durotoye is not a conventional politician. But he understands that to build a New Nigeria that works for us all is a COVENANT. He is committed to our future and will build a New Nigeria that will work for every Nigerian citizens and our visitors. Also remember, incompetence is worst than corruption, because it provides the enabling environment for corruption to thrive yet will not accept responsibility but trade blames. This must stop. We cannot blame our way into greatness. Great Nigerians, with your everything, Support and Vote ANN_Fela Durotoye for President. #2019IssaGoal #FDIssaGoal #NewNigeriaIssaGoal #ANNLionIssaGoal

bilms:The Chairman Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) Dear Sir My attention has been brought to a statement credited to the Gbenga Olawepo - Hashim Presidential campaign organization dated September 28, 2018 and signed by its Director General, Rt. Hon. Terseer Tsumba which insinuates the following: 1. That a “certain Presidential aspirant is fronting for some powerful interests in the All Progressive Congress (APC) to destabilize the Alliance for New Nigeria” Being the only other Presidential Aspirant apart from Mr. Hashim on our great party, it is important that I respond to these false & misleading allegations. For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to inform you that I have never been a member of any political party prior to joining the Alliance for New Nigeria on the 22nd of February, 2018, nor have I ever supported or been associated with any political party, especially the All Progressive Congress (APC) 2. “This Presidential Aspirant pretending to be campaigning for the Office of President launched a series of attacks on the party in the build up to her congresses and National Convention” As you are aware, there were several concerns that myself, Dr. Thomas Wilson Ikubese & Dr. (Mrs) Elishama Ideh had about the direction our party was going as we didn’t feel the principles of fair play and true democracy that had drawn us to ANN were being upheld. We had communicated our concerns via email to the Interim Chairman, Dr. Jay Samuels and copied the Board of Trustees and we decided at the time, not to attend the previous National Convention scheduled for the 11th of August, 2018. Please let it be known for the record that I never at any time, used a public statement to “attack the party” 3. “This is in order to foist a prematurely organized Presidential Primary election on the party with the intent of producing a desired outcome by the ruling APC” As a non Executive member of the Alliance for New Nigeria, I am not privy to deliberations of the National Working Committee or Board of Trustees, therefore, I can not be responsible for decisions the party makes towards scheduling conventions or primary elections. 4. “This so called Presidential Aspirant also circulated disparaging remarks aimed at impugning the credibility of our principal in social media...” Such statements are contrary to my personal values, one of which is to “care and show respect through my words and actions”. I have consistently run a unifying campaign that promotes values of respect & decency, without any direct or indirect attack on any candidate and have maintained a cordial relationship with Mr. Olawepo - Hashim. I presume that our party is committed to principles of Transparency, Integrity & Excellence (TIE) in the quest for free and fair primaries. I would appreciate if you could kindly look into and address these issues. My continued best wishes are to Mr. Olawepo- Hashim and my commitment remains to the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN). God bless you. God bless the Alliance for New Nigeria and may God bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria. Fela Durotoye |
bilms:You are very wrong for saying only 3 states participated. We had like 24 states during the primaries who voted for Fela Durotoye. |
bilms:On Friday; 28th of September, 2018, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a Presidential Aspirant under the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) announced his withdrawal from the presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday; 29th of September 2018 on the grounds that the party hadn't given him the list of delegates who were going to be a part of the electoral process. In a letter issued to the National Chairman of ANN, Olawepo-Hashim stated that "The list of delegates has not been provided to me as a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the ANN. This is contrary to the constitution of the ANN and the Electoral Act. This is such a fundamental flaw as to render any exercise purporting to be presidential primaries to be nugatory.” He further stated that “The absence of guidelines to guide the conduct of the primaries constitute a grave violation of our party’s Constitution and the Electoral Act." Mr. Olawepo-Hashim went further to say that “The arrangements for the Presidential Primary has not been published so that everyone will know. Who are those to conduct the primaries, including accreditation of delegates, screening of aspirants etc? As a Presidential aspirant, I am yet to know the arrangements put in place for the conduct of the primaries,” The above claims by Mr. Olawepo-Hashim are all a propaganda to discredit the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), a party that came into the scene to be the difference and provide a platform for credible candidates who truly have a heart for the people to run for office in order to bring about the New Nigeria that we all desperately seek. First of all, the ANN constitution does not in any way state how it will conduct its primaries neither does it say that aspirants will be given the list of delegates who should partake in the voting process of the primaries. The party deserves and has the right to conduct their primaries however they want in order to accomplish their objectives of providing a level playing field for all aspirants and especially to avoid any form of corruption in its processes. The practice in other parties is to give out the list of delegates to their handpicked aspirant who then goes ahead to bribe the delegates one by one in order to turn the primaries to their favour. Unfortunately, ANN will not practice such and being one of the founding fathers of PDP, it is expected that Mr. Olawepo-Hashim will not find that funny. On the other hand, it was discovered that on Mr. Olawepo-Hashim's visit to the State chairmen of the party that he was busy trying to bribe them to influence the delegates from the states to vote for him in the primaries. This action is one of the many things that ANN stands against and will not allow him that opportunity. It's very likely that Mr. Olawepo-Hashim has had first hand experience that indeed ANN is not like other parties and has seen that he stands no chance at winning the primaries and therefore decided to withdraw from the primaries using propaganda to aid his decision. Besides, if there was anything wrong with the guidelines or conduct of ANN in its preparation for the primaries, it is unlikely that Fela Durotoye who is well known for his die-hard integrity would have objected and probably withdrawn a long time before the eve of the primaries, but this is not the case. Just this morning, on inquiring about what really happened, a reliable source from the party who asked to be anonymous stated that Mr. Olawepo-Hashim pulled out from the primaries because he wanted to change the date of the primaries and when ANN stood their grounds, he wanted to proceed to the court to get a court injunction but unfortunately for him, the court was closed because of the NLC strike. The reliable source further stated that ANN intended for the two candidates to have a debate to help the electorates decide who was a better candidate and Mr. Olawepo-Hashim didn't want to debate with Fela Durotoye for obvious reasons—he will lose as he doesn't stand a chance. Again, Mr. Olawepo-Hashim went to see if INEC could stop the primaries from happening and INEC informed him that they can not get involved in what is happening at the party level. Therefore the truth of Mr. Olawepo Hashim's withdrawal just few hours to the primaries which is slated for today is mainly because he wasn't allowed to know all the delegates and have some uncommon familiarization with them as this is tantamount to inducement of the delegates, which the ANN party will not have anything to do with. He probably wanted to push the primaries, get the names of the delegates so he can influence them to give him their votes. Unfortunately, this didn't happen like he thought, and so why bother with showing up at the primaries to witness a landslide defeat? His withdrawal is also due to the fact that he has discovered that he cannot push ANN around like other parties who are used to taking money from politicians and doing their bids to the disadvantage of Nigeria and to the slavery of her people. This is nothing but the truth. Truly the ANN is THE DIFFERENCE and today's primaries will hold as scheduled at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja by 10am prompt. |
Your plan is to come and destroy this party with your money... You have failed |
The LION is in town... ANN is the Difference... |
