Nigerians are realy the worst hypocrites we have on this earth...Despite our supposed godliness and our knowledge of who and who is in illuminati , who is holy and not holy, our numerous churches, i still wonder why we are one of the worse countries in terms of development indices. We watch BBA africa, listen to our musicians(i aint condemning them),follow lady gaga, rihanna, chris brown, tupac but when anyone plays Enya, we start shouting that she sings demonic songs..What an irony!!! I am sure the Pope and the vatican forgot to ask Nigerian's about Enya's Godly status when played for the Pope in rome years ago . Daily News (Los Angeles, CA) | Dec 20, 1997 From a young age, Enya appeared in many pantomimes onstage at Gweedore's local theatre and sang with her siblings in her mother's choir at St Mary's Catholic Church, Derrybeg. The popular Irish singer met the pope last Christmas. She’s not exactly a traditional Catholic, but neither did she rip up any photographs. “No, no, no,” says Enya, with a gentle laugh. Basically, she sang a song at a charity benefit at the Vatican and then met Pope John II. As Enya’s multi-tracked music is often described in spiritual and celestial terms – the kind one would like to hear upon approaching the pearly gates – one wonders if there was any discussion of the hereafter. “Basically, he thanked me for doing the concert,” Enya says from New York. “It’s just he’s so famous. It was a great honor to perform in the Vatican, to actually get behind the gates where the guards open the gates for you.” Enya is not one to blast other new agers – she demurs they might come up with what they do because they don’t put in her hours, or, perhaps, don’t share her background. “My influences are with Irish music, church music and classical music,” she says. “When I was growing up, I was listening to quite a lot of diverse music, and I was lucky that it wasn’t just one particular type of music.” She still finds inspiration in the church. “It’s difficult when you’ve been brought up Catholic,” Enya says, “to turn completely away from it. What I found in my 20s was I got more involved with the spiritual side of it. I’ve been known to go to church when there’s nobody else there. It’s very therapeutic when it’s quite empty. It’s so hard in a moment of despair not to say a prayer. Instead of abandoning (Catholicism), which is impossible to do, I kind of tried to turn it around and make it work for me. There is this calmness that is absolutely wonderful.” Another reason i m sure most of u say her music is demonic/satanic is because u dont understand the lyrics. A simple google research will show that she sings her song in English,Irish Gaelic, scottish Gaelic, Japanese, Latin amongst others. Because you dont understand someone's language doesnt mean the person is demonic or speaking gibberish... And what most of u dont realise that unlike most musician she grew up in a family of musicians. She attended college wanting to become a classical pianist, continuing her studies in music and also studying watercolour painting. GOOGLE IS UR FRIEND below are the lyrics for the song titled "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" O come, O come, Emmanuel And ransom captive Israel That mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appear Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan's tyranny From depths of Hell Thy people save And give them victory o'er the grave Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here Disperse the gloomy clouds of night And death's dark shadows put to flight. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heavenly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O come, Thou Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height, In ancient times did'st give the Law, In cloud, and majesty and awe. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. Below are the Lyrics of the song Athair Ar Neamh which she sang in her native language but translated in English Heavenly Father --------------- Heavenly Father, God is with us Heavenly Father, God is with me my soul, my heart, my glory, a praise to you, God. A long and peaceful day A long night without gloom beauty, joy, love, a praise to you, God. I glorify you day by day. I glorify you night after night. Heavenly Father, God is with us Heavenly Father, God is with me the moon, the sun, the wind, a praise to you, God. ) Bring out the lyrics of ur famous naija or foreign musicians and lets all compare notes ![]() |

I will just put up a short write up on our idea of a man-of-God and also religion RELIGION AND ITS ROLE IN NIGERIA Our underatanding of the duty of a man of God is really weird especially when one is a Nigerian and i seriously think its a big problem for us.(I am a xtian so dont accuse me of been against religion). Why arent our spiritual leaders tackling and denouncing issues having to do with tribalism and even bad government policies which impact on the life of their flock? There will be nothing wrong if my/your pastor takes a stand and say Mr minister of transport, why are the roads in ABC local government bad?Why are our children at home when they should be in school? Staying in the UK, you come to understand that we Nigerians dont know the difference between what God should do and what Government should do for us;we attribute everything to God.... I once got on a bus years ago enroute Enugu from Portharcourt... There was a pastor who stood up to pray and told everyone to pray against the spirit of blood sucking demons/witches/wizards on the road that cause accidents...After a while i couldnt take it any longer and told him to shut his trap and to stop using religion to blackmail people as thatz what we suffer in Nigeria...A blind man knows that these roads are bad and are death traps and ur driver has to move from one lane to another to avoid portholes popping up everywhere..Why wouldnt there be accidents? Why wouldnt there be loss of lives?I asked the pastor 'who is your minister of transport/works?' and he had no idea...The politicians are the witches/wizards....ThIS episode typically summarizes the attitude of every Nigerian to matters of the nation.. Here in the UK, i dont need to start praying against road accidents cos the governments make sure there is not a single porthole in any major road and you have the right to sue them if you suffer any accident..THAT IS GOVERNMENT'S WORK AND NOT GOD'S WORK..Have we asked ourselves that why is it that its usually underdeveloped countries that talk of demons/witches..The USA,Russia,Germany are worse 'sinners' than us but they are world powers?China doesnt have any religion but they taking over the world including Nigeria? Another issue lies with the emphasis on 'sowing seeds' thingy and other convoluted messages which arent designed to change or improve the life of the citizenry one bit...Even Jesus Christ took matters in his hands and was furious with the peeps misusing the temple for trading activities..He voiced out against the pharisees, sadduceess, rulers etc..ditto for other prophets like Elijah/Elisha/etc who never failed to reprimand the politicians/rulers of their time whenever they erred. How many of these pastors have ever called the Government or minister of roads and transport or minister of education etc on the ongoing issues in their various sectors which are affecting the lives of nigerians...Why will a pastor just start preaching and emphasizing on 'been filled with the holy spirit'/'tithing' when one quarter of his flock are students who are at home cos ASUU is on strike and he wont for once condemn the people in charge? The people are his flock..A pastor is talking about building a 3km podium and asking his flock to donate thousands and millions for that?Is that what the people need?aOur pastors now go on private jets while half of the flock cant afford a car?And if his excuse is that he has to get to places where he is needed on time, why has he never condemned the minister of avaition or whoever is in charge to boost/better the services of the airlines?Do they ever ask themselves what Jesus wouldav done? For those who talk about men of God and saying we should not judge...see the link below and compare to our modern day pastors to see the difference!!!So many of us forget that Martin Luther King Junior was a baptist minister. If he was a Nigerian pastor, would he have stood still while Nigeria continues failing everyday? He was killed for his belief but he will forever be remembered in history...You tell me? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr. This is another link also by a white man on how Martin Luther KIng Junior changed his life.I will briefly summarize 'Between that racially appalling world and this racially imperfect one strode Martin Luther King. We don’t know if the world would have changed without him, but we do know he was a rod in the hand of God. He was used in the mighty hand of Providence to change the world so that the most appalling, blatant, degrading, public expressions of racism have gone away. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his life to change the world. And toward the end he was increasingly aware that “the Movement” would cost him his life. The night before he was assassinated by James Earl Ray outside room 306 of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis on April 4, 1968, he preached at the Bishop Charles Mason Temple. He had come to Memphis to support the black sanitation workers. For a brief window of time — just long enough — MLK was able to use his voice to restrain violence and overcome hate: “We are masters in our nonviolent movement in disarming police forces. They don't know what to do.” He kindled a kind of fire that no dogs could quench and no fire hoses could put out. It was “a dangerous kind of unselfishness.” Like the Good Samaritan. “The Levite asked, ‘If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’ But the Good Samaritan reversed the question: ‘If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’ So dangerous it would cost MLK his life. And he saw it coming. That morning there was a bomb threat on his plane from Atlanta to Memphis. He felt it coming. So he closed his sermon prophetically: 'We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn’t matter with me now, because I’ve been to the mountaintop. And I don’t mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life — longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over, and I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land. And so I’m happy tonight; I’m not worried about anything; I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. Ten hours later he was dead. http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/martin-luther-king-changed-my-world-and-i-am-thankful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFcbpGK9_aw This is my idea of a man of God...I give kudos to the Anglican, methodist, catholic priests and also pastor tunde bakare and chris okotie who at least condemn injustices/bad policies in the system and take a stand on issues...Whats ur pastors'/Imam/PaganLeader's stand on boko haram, ASUU strike, bad roads, fuel subsidy?I rest my case. Iam going to speak objectively here...I have an issue with America always been on the forefront of liberalision of coUntries with conflicts as i feel they sometimes have dubious agendas but usually one cant blame them IMO...For all the US wrongdoings, i would rather have them as the world police/superpower than china/russia as they seem to have better conscience than the aforementioned countries.he syria war has been going on for ages but not one of the so-called world powers/anti american countries stepped in to resolve the conflict... The Arab league of nations middle eastern countries which should have stepped up and resolved this issue were just barking toothlessly..Not one of the middle eastern countries did anything while thousands of syrian's were killed....And if i was Obama, i would call out China!!lemme explain...china wants to be a superpower but in crises like this they are no where to be found or are always hiding behind the back of russia..The chinese are conscienceless and would never do anything to help...So it looks quite hypocritical when America wanna steps in 3 years after the conflict began and everyone is suddenly shouting 'anti-american' protests.Where were all these countries since NO LONG TIN: Yes, I support USA strategic and limited attack on Assad’s government. |
the same scripture says no one knows 'the end'..i wonder if u were born in the world war 1, world war 2 , cold war era, what would u have said? And i think end time is relative to one's condition...Ask people who suffer strife and casualties daily in Jos or boko haram terrorised states and they will tell u that the world had ended for a long tyme for them Tgirl4real: Oh my! I thought this was in the religion section. |

Why we call her holy??Read this, itz called the magnificat but its taken from the gospel of luke...After readn the bolded, answer me why u have never called her 'blessed'? The Magnificat, taken from Luke’s Gospel (1:46-55)[/b ], is the Blessed Virgin Mary’s hymn of praise to the Lord. It is also known as the Canticle of Mary in the Liturgy of the Hours, a special collection of scripture readings, psalms, and hymns that constitute what is known as the prayer of the church. (Priests and other religious are required to pray sections from the Liturgy of the Hours each day.) My soul magnifies the Lord And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; Because he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid; For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed; Because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name; And his mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of his mercy Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever. http://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/magnificat.html free2ryhme: I quote scriptures and not pagan written handbook when i respond |
The bulletin readings are all taking from the bible..Stop spewing forth your ignorance here Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home (John 19:23-27 TNIV). free2ryhme: I quote scriptures and not pagan written handbook when i respond |
so apart from the Lord's prayer, u dont say/pray anything else ![]() free2ryhme:u saw the above paragraph, u highlighted it yet u still dnt grab anythn ? |
We dont worship her, we honour her. ...Catholics always say 'HONOUR' to her,We dont worship her but we acknowledge her rightful place in the Christendom...Lemme use football as an example;for those of you who have been to old trafford, you will see long queues of people waiting to be snapped together with the statue of that great man, Sir Alex.Does it mean they worship him?no...that statue acts as a remembrance in which u can maybe boast to ur grandkids someday that 'there was once a coach bla bla bla'...Also we all have pictures and images of lost loved ones in a special place in our home? Do u worship it?no,its for remembrance...Some of us still wear soccer jerseys with players like van persie, rooney, cr7 printed on it?Are those players gods to us?no...we just like to identify with them...Same goes for the Holy Mother of our lord, Jesus Christ You have the Bible, the internet and so many other thnz to clear ur misgivings.Listen and listen carefully before i flog u with cane, lol. The first half of the Hail Mary is contained in Luke 1. The Hail Mary is broken up into two parts: “Who Mary is” (no 1-5) and “Our prayer to Mary.” (no 5-6) Below the Hail Mary is examined line by line: 1)HAIL MARY, FULL OF GRACE (Luke 1:28): The Angel Gabriel greets Mary with very respectful greeting used for royalty. The text doesn’t say “Mary” after Hail but it is implied. Gabriel then proclaims Mary full of Grace (full of God’s own life and love). 2)THE LORD IS WITH YOU (Luke 1:28): This is word for word. The Angel Gabriel said that the Lord is with Mary, she is full of his Grace, his own life. 3) BLESSED ARE YOU AMONGST WOMEN (Luke 1:41): Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit; she is inspired by the 3rd person of the Blessed Trinity to proclaim that Mary is the most blessed among all women. 4) AND BLESSED IS THY FRUIT OF THY WOMB JESUS (Luke 1:42):Elizabeth still inspired by the Holy Spirit proclaims that the fruit of Mary’s womb, the developing Jesus, is blessed. The text doesn’t say “Jesus” after womb, but it is implied, the fruit of her womb is Jesus. 5) HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD (Luke 1:43..And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?):Mary is full of God’s grace; this would make her holy. Mary is the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the 2nd person of the Holy Trinity. Since Jesus is God this makes her the mother of God. She is the mother of the God-Man Jesus, not the mother of the Trinity. 6) PRAY FOR US SINNERS, NOW AND THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH (James 5:16...Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects) : St. James tells Christians to pray for one another. All the baptized are members of the body of Christ (1Cor 12:12-14), therefore it is right to pray for other members of the body. James goes on to say that the prayers of the righteous have great power. What human (other then Jesus) is more righteous then the Blessed Mother? Though she is in heaven she still hears the prayers of her children on Earth and intercedes for them. ***Any Catholic here thatz more enlightened can add to the above. I think it will enlighten everyone here and clear doubts from some people. We can open a thread on this topic if possible http://blessedjp2.com/totus-tuus/where-is-the-hail-mary-in-the-bible/ free2ryhme: Everything you Catholics are saying is irrelevant until one of you can find where in the scriptures that almighty God himself says it is ok to do the things he strictly forbids us to do!!! That is, make, have and bow down to graven images, and worshiping Mary, and keeping the traditions of pagans!!!! Where does he say this in scripture? |
IN THE NAME OF GOD AND ONE NIGERIA TheBookWorm: What is wrong with you myopic people? You are so on point!!!!I school in the southern most part of the UK where the racial thingy IS omnipresent but toned down. I come to the nairaland website to find succour, chat with and follow things happening in naija. But what do I get here?Emeka/Seun/Hassan all at each others' throat in the name of 1 Nigeria. Listening and reading most of these comments here makes me so ashamed of my country. I repeat, Nigerians dont have any right to accuse the white man of been a racist when even amongst ourselves we practise it to the highest level...God!!!!!!!! I look at statistics on google and it says that Nigerians are amongst the most religious people in the world with so many churches but what google fails to mention is that there is a big difference between been religious and been spiritual...I am a xtian but not a born-again but I knw I have more chances of making heaven than most of our 'pious' xtian/muslim brothers because I dont judge any human by his ethnicity or religion. I take you for who you are... Most of us go to church, mosque, fast and pray on fridays/sundays/other days but you all are just wasting your time when you possess these kind of black hearts. How will he answer your prayers when your heart is full of hatred for your fellow man?Do you think on the last day God/Allah will separate us and judge us according to tribes/race/religion? Will he say 'Igbos this line, yorubas here, Hausa there.....'?Do any of us even comtemplate that? For the xtians amongst us, one of the first parables Jesus gave was the parable of the good samaritan where he talked about the Jew who was wounded and abandoned by the roadside. A priest, a levite, a fellow jew and a pharisee passed the man without batting an eyelid and continued going on their way. The person who came to the wounded man's rescue was a 'Samaritan' (by default samaritans and jews were enemies) who came to the man's aid, cleaned his wounds and took him to an inn. I believe Jesus had Nigerians' in mind when he made this parable. Lest we forget, one of his greatest commandments/sayings was/is 'Love your neighbour as yourself' To the matter at hand, what unbiased folks should be asking is that 'was/is there a set format for selecting the Baba Oloja'?'IS/Was it by voting or inner caucus selection etc'?If so, did anyone go off course or derail when selecting this present one? These are what we should be asking and not attacking each other tribally. If I was to speak as a tribalised igbo, I would also ask the igbos to ask ourselves what the hell is every freaking person doing in lasgidi. Why in the freaking world have we not called our south-east governors to order in area of development in our region. What has any of the governors done in pursuing the case of the dredging of the river niger and also the construction of the second niger bridge of which millions and billions for these are provided for in the national budget? Why is there no international airport in the southeast. If the river niger is dredged and made into a port, most of the traders dont need come to Lagos/Apapa for their containers. If the river Nigeria is dredged, it opens up the south east to the Atlantic and the outside world in terms of creating various avenues/livelihood/ for the igbos. These are what learned people should be saying in these day and age. Codedeben: So PATHETIC!!!!Dont mind them. While you all are grappling at each others' throat, sons and daughters of these politicians who are supposed to be sworn enemies are here in the UK flexing/partying/drinving the latest car series. |
