Lol...I spent a month there and when my work had finished I kept finding excuses to stay behind..lol...can't really blame lagos though..there s serious pressure on infrastructure there...no governor has to suffer d problems fashola suffers...seriously...and d amount of people in lagos is an indictment on all d other states...if other states had good infrastructure, attract industrial growth so as to provide jobs for graduates and others, most of us wouldn't be there in d first place...
Smooyis: I was in Uyo exactly a year ago and was stunned at d level of development. The Governor is doing a great job. I hated Lagos when I got here because I spent like a week there and really had a great time, and would love to be there aagain. All d best. Keep it up.

When I was in naija as at last year,my work made me travel round southeast and south south states also including remote areas of this states and I ll tell u that my favourite place to work in was akwa ibom especially in terms of d road network...the good road network cuts across every nook and cranny of the state..also itz very clean and well organised..I thought calabar had d best roads till I worked in akwaibom for a month..also very good infrastructures in that state..thnz r cheaper here compared to calabar also...d hotel I stayed in called mandela queens which was worth 6k will be worth 14k in calabar..I aint kiddn u....kudos to the governor
And for that nitwit who said 'na oil money', there s a saying that goes thus 'u can only play d cards u are dealt with'....ciao!!

use ur head...do u think the mod was hiding postz for fun...u should know that it should be for a reason...freedom of expression comes with a responsibility whick most people fail to acknowledge...and i think the mod is doing a good job as per preventing racists/tribalists/religious bigots from hijacking this thread...hope this will give them a sense of remorse
ubong560: One thing i dislike abt dis forum is lack of opened and free opportunity for one's expression. Even national assembly has entitled us for freedom of expression and how then will seun and his mod. put us in cage against our expression. One thing for sure is dat, there is likely somtin to learn or note abt in every post. We shld be allowed to express ourselves even wit ethnicity war after all this 2013.

but GEJ,OBASANJO,ABACHA,BABANGIDA etc were all qualified sheyhuhhuh nitwit undecided
bilms: I have observed that the media propaganda of the Lagos State Governor is still enjoying much relevance, especially on nairaland despite clear failure of his administration.

Many things i read about Fashola on nairaland speak contrary of the reality on ground,a little survey among the masses in your area would speak for itself.

Just within the last two weeks, the Fashola for presidency thing has made it to the front page God knows how many times.

So i ask, what exactly has foshala done to deserve a presidency?

Is it the increment of The Lagos State University fee from 25,000 to 250,000 that made him worth the presidency?
Is it the crazy Lekki toll gate fee, which when protested ordered the protesters crushed?
Is it the promise of demolishing Katangwa market, denying over 30,000 people means of livelihood with a promise of not providing any alternative?
Is it the demolishing and killing of some residence of Makoko Community?
Is it the Ban of Okada without any meaningful steps toward re engagements of the citizens?

Many crazy things just to mention but few.

What exactly has he done to deserve this inhuman promotion? A government of oppression on the masses and the less privileged.

A government of under developing the people in the name of developing the state. A government with no consideration for human welfarism.

Anyway, no matter how much this propaganda machine tries,Nigerians are no fools..

How to make Egusi Soup

Ingredients

Egusi (Melon) seeds - 3 cigar cups | 600g
Red Palm Oil – 2 cooking spoons
Beef – Best cut and Shaki (cow tripe)
Fish – Dry Fish and Stock Fish
Crayfish
Pepper and Salt to taste
Vegetable – Pumpkin leaves or Bitter leaf
Seasoning – 3 Maggi or Knorr cubes
Traditional Seasoning – 1 Okpei (optional)
Tools I used

Cooker: Buy it in USA | in UK
Deep Pot: Buy it in USA | in UK
Spice grinder for grinding egusi (melon) seeds: Buy it in USA | in UK
Spatula: Buy it in USA | in UK
Chopping board: Buy it in USA | in UK
Knives: Buy it in USA | in UK
Before you cook Egusi Soup

Before preparing the soup, soak the dry fish for about half an hour. Boil the stockfish for 20 minutes and leave in the pot with the hot water to soak for about an hour.
Much closer to your cooking time, grind the Egusi with a dry mill. Grind the crayfish and the dry pepper separately and set aside. Wash the vegetable to be used. Cut into tiny pieces.
Boil the shaki, stock fish and dry fish in 1 litre of water till they are well done. First sign of a done shaki is that the cuts will start curling on itself.
Wash the beef to be used for the soup and place in a pot and start steaming at medium heat. There is no need to add water at this stage. When the meat is done, add 3 cubes of Maggi/Knorr. This method makes the meat cook faster while retaining all the taste. Also meat contains lots of water and you will notice that the water content increases as the meat starts to boil.
Cooking Directions

There are two main methods of cooking egusi soup. These we will call oil before egusi and egusi before oil. Confusing? Not.
Oil Before Egusi

Put 2 cooking spoons of red palm oil into a dry pot and set on the stove to heat. As soon as the oil is clearer, add the ground egusi and start frying. This should be done at low heat to avoid burning. Keep frying till you see the egusi getting drier. One sign of this is that it will start sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Now, start adding the shaki/fish stock little by little while still turning the egusi. When the stock is exhausted and you feel that the soup is still too thick, you can add more water. If your choice of vegetable is bitterleaf, it should be added now as well.
Cover the pot and cook for 30 to 45 minutes. The egusi is done when you notice that the oil has risen to the surface of the mix and separated from the mix. If this is the case, add the fish, shaki and meat. Also add pepper and salt to taste. If pumpkin leaves (or any other soft vegetable) is your choice, please add it now.
Cover the pot and leave everything to steam together for 5 minutes.
The egusi soup is ready to be served with amala, Eba (garri), pounded yam or cassava fufu.
Egusi Before Oil

This method produces a healthier egusi soup. This is because there is no frying involved.
In this method, as soon as the shaki, fish and meat are done, remove them from the stock and place in a different pot or plate.
Add the ground egusi to the stock and cook for 40 minutes. You will notice the clear egusi oil coming to the surface of the soup.
Add 2 cooking spoons of red palm oil, the meat, fish, bitter leaves (if it is your choice of vegetable) pepper and salt to taste and cook for another 10 minutes. Now, add the pumpkin leaves if is your choice of vegetables, stir the soup and turn off the heat.
The egusi soup is ready to be served with amala, Eba (garri), pounded yam or cassava fufu.

Enjoy. . . .

@op/jarus:i m really dzappointed in u in placing chinua's name here and what the helll do u mean by 'Nairalanders consider the octogenerian a candidate for the shame version this year'huhwho are the nairalandershuhu sound like a tribalist to me...even if u dont like the book he released, that should be ur personal opininon and u should not use ur position aS an 'op' to cause havoc here man..if u wanted this to be done fairly, u would v done an open poll where every nairalander will state his own 'shameful personality' and from these u can then select the three most common names mentioned and then ask for votes on this....i bet u, if u put awolowo or obasanjo etc, they would get more votes than achebe...please have an open mind!!!!!!(u notice i did not state my opinion on achebe;thatz personal) and if u shine ur eyes well, u will notice that itz only people from a certain part of the country that selected chinua achebe...what does that tell u...gosh,i m even beginning to sound like u(a tribalist) #letzbelievein1nigeria.
Jarus: 1, Mallam Faruk Lawan: The once respected member of the lower chamber was expectedly a recurring nominee for this unenviable category. From the height of reverence in Nigeria's political firmament, the Kano man fell to the nadir of humiliation. Or how else can one describe the $620,000 bribery scandal that had the man at the centre?

2, President Goodluck Jonathan: The current holder of the 'dishonour' title appears set to retain it, as Nairalanders still dont appear convinced that he has done anything.

3, Prof. Chinua Achebe: The world renowned literary giant was an inch close to winning to 'Fame' category just last year for rejecting the national honour from Federal Government. But how tide turns? Nairalanders consider the octogenerian a candidate for the shame version this year, for, according to them, opening a pandora box that portends disunity for Nigeria.

Who wears the thorn-crown? I no know o

December 28 is the date.

SportsRe: Counting On Mikel To Be A Messi- Segun Odegbami by uzoexcel(m): 4:02pm On Dec 22, 2012
'if' doesnt build a house...mikel has not scored up to 4goals in chelsea since he joined 6yrs ago and thatz a damning statistics as a player;he hasnt even developed himself since that competition....the players like andrea pirlo, mikel carrick etc may do the backpassing but they knew how to also look for the long range passes and they also scored goals also...jose mourinho has even said the only player who is irreplaceable in the madrid squad is 'xabi alonso'...that guy s good and very effective also...and he could score outrageous goals...also stop making excuses of mikel been played as a defensive midfielder...roy keane, michael essien were core defensive midfielders but they could offer more by being able to charge and drive the attack from behind and the main thing they could do which i dont see in mikel obi was the ability to take'initiative'..been a defensive midfielder doesnt mean u must just sit at the back;once in a while u try and enter into threatening positions so as to offer more options to ur team when they have the ball..MIKEL doesnt do this @all
thegoodjoehunt: If you watched Xabi Alonso at Liverpool FC, you will notice that backpassing was one of his regular plays. He still looked good because he was in a more advanced role and had Mascherano as his defensive midfielder. Xabi wasn't scoring loads of goals or charging and making dribbles but he was brilliant.

If Mikel is put in a more advanced role, you will see the brilliance in his play. Back in the U20 world cup, Mikel made lots of backpasses but because of his position no one complained.

Andrea Pirlo makes lots of backpasses but at AC Milan, he had Gattuso behind him.
