HealthRe: Coping With Infertility by uzoo: 6:50pm On Apr 21, 2013
i just want to chip in here.

As difficult as this might be , believe me sweet hearts ,it really works.

ignore every stress that may come with infertility: what i mean here is, live life to the fullest while expecting your baby's arrival. do not occupy your mind with what you assume everyone (including your in-laws) must be thinking about you or your partner/hubby,during your ttc period.

Create a quite time for your self alone , it could be around 12am ,3am , any time at all 20 to 40 mins to your self,no gadgets, phones , tv should be left on. Say a.
particular prayer at this time, read a particular portion of the bible too ,say positive things to your self and just meditate and do some breathing exercise. You can do this any where, bathroom, bedroom , but just make sure you are alone and its quiet where you are.You can do this everyday.

This is a sure way of coping with any kind of stress.

@Safe06

you are right about the Clomid , my family and i have always embraced natural things from medications, foods, to simple basic vitamins and suppliments because of cancer.

Growing up , my mom relied on natural things, she wouldn't buy any boxed or canned juice, rather she'll squeeze the fresh ones for us, because of fear of '' oyibo '' disease like she called it cheesy.

and besides i am glad the ''CLOMID'' i was going to recommend to my relative was ignored by her, i even found out that it had some side effects that the women TTC didnt like. E.g nausea, weight gain, bloating and all that.

@Omonikiba
i really cant remember what she called it, but it was made from plants or foods or something like that, and she took it every and i mean every day for months like it was some personal ritual grin. Not dissing the thing but i even joked about it with her.
i did meet with the lady one time in their Anglican church during the Son's naming ceremony and she said she too had gone through infertility many years ago ,(her first son is in high school now) and when she travelled to the states for help, her elder brother who works with a hospital in Texas gave her the medication because she hated what the ones her doctor placed her over there was doing to her body system.

anwyays when i do find out , wont hesistate to place it here. i really wish you all the best.

I have to Say that you ladies are the best, you give hope and courage and i have to commend the strength and patience you all have...and i can not imagine what you all must be going through

I remember coming here to seek help for a relative of mine who was trying for almost 5 years and wouldnt try I.V.F ,because she said it was un-natural, this was in late 2011.( My post is on PAGE 44 OF THIS TOPIC)

Well i am happy to say that she had a baby boy last year and he is one year old already. I can not thank God enough for his mercies.

Apparantly, the Herbal Fertility medication she took worked for her and a friend of hers who is already pregnant with twins too.
She had issues with fibroid and irregular Ovulation , which was what the medication was for , her husband was fine, and i must say that i have never seen a Patient and supportive man like that before.

She had taken the medication consistently for about 6 months , ( while i was going about seeking for medical help for her on this forum) she didnt even know she was pregnant in the 5th month when she was telling me her ordeal, and i didnt know either.

Well , i just want to say here that with patience, prayers, faith and the right medication of course , there is nothing stopping you from having your own child.

Yvete: Nice thread. Anyone ready to lose weight for the summer?

I gained a couple since january (8 pounds) and I can't wait to drop it for the summer. I run 3miles x 4 days a week, but my eating habit sucks. That's my major hindrance. If I can say no to chocolates, it would be so easy! Will add weight training 2x/weekly too.
Just 8 pounds ,You are so lucky . look what i have to deal with.... 18 freaking pounds before summer. cry

i'll be spending half of my time out doors , this summer , including the beach . i just hope to lose it before then...

i hate intense work outs angry, hate bitter stuffs, ( i'm a sweet tooth).

this is the sacrifice i have to make to get rid of the extra pounds.

babestell: Please what is the idea behind tucking in the tummy. I read ladies talking about doing it a lot of times but i don't understand the science behind it.
I just started my regimen and I have started actively counting my calories. I found a website that gave an approximate amount of calories in regular naija food so i will use it as a sort of guide. I am going to eat 1200 calories a day, dance zumba for 30 mins (morning and evening) and play with dumbbells for 15 mins (morn and evening) grin
Please what is the name of the tea you are takinghuh
the Science behind sucking in your tummy is that it just helps your abdominal walls ,that is the muscles where you have fat are being built while you suck in your tummy. So the more you suck it in the m ore muscles you build , and research has it that muscles burn fat.

this is how to do it. whether you are sitting, standing or walking . focus your mind pretending that your belly button is being pulled inwards to your back with a string and then try and really really Squeeze and i mean Squeeze your tummy in while doing this.

Another way is to place a finger on your belly button and squeeze in your tummy away from that finger leaveing a tiny space between the finger and your belly button.

while doing this exercise , remember to inhale when squeezing( breathe in) and exhale whne you release your tummy (breathe out)

For the Tea,

its green tea , but this particular one has more of her herbs in it.
you can add your own herbs like fresh lemon juice, which is what i do
any kind of herbs , from ginger , garlic, etc.

hope this helps.

HealthRe: 2013 Fit And Trim Weight Loss Challenge by uzoo: 6:03pm On Apr 16, 2013
wow! you babes are really trying..

i did pack on the weight too during the Christmas and new year period ... (cant say no to some really finger licking dishes grin)

well i was still trying to fit into my size 12 dresses , by squeezing in . but i got a reality check when i climbed on the scale sometime early february and didnt like what i saw , had gained a whooping 10 kg.

anyways , i hit the gym in february and got a personal trainer who worked with me for a month from 1st of march to 1st of april. but to be honest , with all the boot camp and drilling methods the guy was putting me through 4 to 5 days a week ,2 hours a day, and fruit diet(banana smoothie for breakfast with one slice of whole grain toast, salads and avocada for lunch , smoothie with skimmed fresh milk and more fruits for dinner).i didnt lose jack....

.Infact i think i even gained more pounds cos he put me on weight training which i hated and i did 4.5 kilometres interval training on the thread mill in 30 mins burning about 180 or so calories, 30 mins on the eliptical bike Burning 350 caolories level 10 and the remaining 1 hour was for spot training( arms, tummy , hips etc) with weights and equipments.

i havnt been to the gym since 1st of april . i changed my diet , ate less but still stuck to the fruit thing, started on this amazing tea a relative recommended,2 to 3 times a day and lost 3 kg in 2 weeks.

and this is my daily routine. using ( mat , jump rope, tea)

MORNING

Skip for 6 mins ( 140 skips every minute, meaning you have to be really fast) 140 skips per minute burns approximately 50 to 65 calories per min.Depending on your weight.

Next i lie on my back on the mat and tune into my recorded workouts i got from female trainers on you tube.
( i have loads of that on my tablet , from tummy work outs, to planks, triceps and even how to get a six pack tongue)
my favorite is from fitnessblender. i do planks for 40 to 50 seconds , three reps

i do the mat work out for 30mins ,

Next , i run straight to the kitchen and brew myself some of the herbal tea ,in a mug.

breakfast is smoothie and one slice of whole grain toast. with a full glass of water before i head out.

Afternoon

Just snacking on carrots , lots of fruits, almond nuts, water, and sucking in my tummy all through the day, thats the easiest and probably the only exercise i can do anywhere while sitting in my desk, standing walking. you 'll be amazed how many inches you lose on your waist line by just doing that every minute.

Night

have a nice family dinner, but make sure you eat a 5 year old portion size with lots of water.
and ofcourse, have my tea before bed time. (i always have dinner before 7.30pm)

i know this has been an epistle, but i just wanted to post my own experience and progress so far.i dont mean to diss the gym nor the trainers who work there ,but I had to stop using the gym cos i was starting to feel some pain in my knee while using the thread mill and the guy would not take no for an answer. undecided

Anyways i think i'll stick to this self invented weightloss plans cos it works for me. Basically , what the tea does is suppress appetite, cleanse my system , and i tell you my skin is glowing too, and further more my knee pain is gone.

will keep you guys posted at the end of the month .

LoveAmaka88: The confetti nails are fab.

Confessional: So my post with the orange nails was my first time getting acrylic and tips. I will never do that again. My nails are so weak and damaged now, I am horrified. The way they remove acrylic is by filing it off, yikes! Please take care of your nails ladies. I learned my lesson. I'm sticking to gel or natural nail manis.
so sorry to hear that , guess the person did a botched job.

i 've never had my acrylic filed off, rather they are dissolved , and then i get a few weeks break from them and use Sally Hansen nail treatments.
i took out the french tips i had on , and now i'm carrying my natural nails.

they need to breathe smiley
HealthRe: I Look Older Than My Age.what Can I Do by uzoo: 10:43pm On Apr 09, 2013
just go and see a skin therapist or dermatologist, posting anything here will not help that much .

these professionals will examine your skin ,your diet , life style etc and give you solutions.

search for them on the internet or ask a doctor to recommend a dermatologist.

good luck.

the only bio oil product i know is the one manufactured in south africa,

i discovered some so called bio oil toning lotion on the shelves in a store and i couldn't help laughing because i know its not the real thing.i even made a joke about the spellings of some words on the packaging with the sales guy at the counter, and he was laughing.

as far as i know, bio oil has only the oil that is manufactured for skin conditions such as dryness, stretch marks , etc.

even the packaging looked dodgy.

yea,i just went back and did more research and found out that , a 65 year old woman also had a baby in the UK.

i know many of my older relatives that were done with child bearing at age 27 and they have more than 6 kids.

Wow! how times have changed.
CelebritiesHalle Berry To Have Her Second Baby After Her 47th Birthday. by uzoo(op): 5:39pm On Apr 08, 2013
believe it or not , the Oscar winner , Bond girl will be 47 on the 14th of august, and a couple of months after that she will give birth to her second child whom i think will be a boy this time.

i think the oldest i've heard of a celebrity having a baby is 44 , the likes of Mariska Hargitay of LAW AND ORDER,SVU.

and Marcia Cross , ( Bree Van der kemp of DESPERATE HOUSE WIVES) who had twins.

A lot has been said of women in their forties having babies, and the risk involved, but i think if you are fit and healthy there is no harm in trying to conceive. smiley

i have to show this to a friend who is in her Forties and has lost hope, i just hope she doesn't doubt it because she thinks these ladies are celebrities and they can do anything to get anything.
