@op ow can I make my daughter's retouched hair natural again?
What i am going to advice here may be quite hard for you to accept but trust me in a few months time you'll be glad you did this. you need to chop it all out using a pair of scissors.Yes ,you might feel a bit emotional about doing this but if you can go through the hassle of maintaining two textures(relaxed and new growth) on the little ones hair then its fine.But if not then please cut it . once you have cut it to the level where the natural hair ( new growth) is, then its much easier to start maintaining the hair from there. once you start making her hair again , braids, corn rows, or even using wool thread then get a detangling spray. ( for a natural african kids hair you really have to use this spray 3 times daily.) This is what will help you manage the hair properly when ever you want to comb , or when ever you want to take out the braids or weave,(corn rows). it softens the air ,also get a sulfate free shampoo and wash her hair once or twice a week,dont forget to use a conditioner after washing .leave it on the damp hair for say 20 to 30 m ins and rinse off. The hair should never be left dry , so oil her scalp with natural oils in the mornings(coconut oil ,or olive oil, or castor oil), then use moisturising lotions for the rest of the hair , try to make her hair once a week.Dont use salon products , they are not kind to children's hair. when making her hair in the salon(weaving,braids etc) ensure that they dont pull the edges around her face or neck or ears,its tender and breaks away when the hair is due for washing and it hurts too. Tip. If you really want her hair to grow quicker try making it using threads, the ones our grannies use in the villages .. (lol) i know its outdated and doesnt look as pretty as braids and the rest , but it stretches the hair , and makes it easy to take out and ready for washing without tangles. All you do is just pull the thread gently and it releases the hair like a rotating fan . You get the picture.That was my hair style up until i got into secondary school.(lol) Good luck. |
@adaobi123 you're welcome ![]() |
Too lazy to cook and yet u dey boil beans. I laugh in greek! Too lazy to cook, where I'm from is equal to Bread, Indomie, Or ever nourishing Garri and Groundnut. Weldone though.
Thanks. With the pressure cooker the beans is ready in less than 10 mins. The real stress is standing and frying that delicious plantain and sweet potatoes. Actually i made the Togo or is it bene republic style of stew ( the one they call Agoyin Stew) to go with the beans, i learnt how to make it from one of my mom's maid then . The damn thing is too oily, but tasty. ![]() |

@Chicolee Thanks for visiting the blog,First of all let me say that my skin is not perfect, the pic on profile was just one of those days i practiced my make up skills (M.A.C studio fix foundation,lip gloss, mascara and eye liners)..lol. it evens out your skin tone and hides blemishes on my face. i suffer from a lot of acne so my skin routine may not be suitable for you . For my face ,a night cream by neutrogena ,i scrub with apricot scrub 3 times a week (at night mostly) Here's my routine http://productsthatactuallydowork..com/search/label/skin%20regimen . During the day its Palmers Cocoa butter Moisturising oil for the body alone ,and then a sun block afterwards.I'm currently on a product haul as you can see here http://productsthatactuallydowork..com/2013/08/out-with-oldin-with-new-products-that.html so i'm also on the look out for paraben and mineral oil free products that work well for me as soon as i'm done with these ones. I also do a DIY home microdermabrasion for body. If you live in busy air polluted areas like lagos and you expose your skin to this on a daily basis ,then you should do a full body scrub once a week with a skin brush and apricot scrub( or brown sugar) , or you can get a a micro dermabrasion home kit and use it once a month. This gets rid of dead skin that prevent skin products from being effective on our skin. Its best to pay attention to your skin and read on product labels to know what content affects your skin positively. To answer your question about where to get the list of products, you can try cassadela ( can't remember the spelling ) at shop rite lekki, or check park n shop lekki. Otherwise you can order through shipping companies who buy stuffs abroad for Nigerians and deliver to them here. like circuit atlantic or perry sollutions. |
i started a thread here https://www.nairaland.com/1399862/parabensmineral-oil-skinhair-health-products on safe products to use and some of them are paraben and mineral oil free. like the IMAN BB cream which you can find at Francadaze lekki, francadaze..com If you are looking to buy SPF mosturisers that have no Parabens below is a list. Alba Botanica Natural Very Emollient Sunblock, Fragrance Free, SPF 30 All Terrain AquaSport Face Stick, SPF 28 Badger Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Coppertone Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Jason Pure Natural Sun Mineral Natural Sunscreen, SPF 30 Kiss My Face Natural Mineral Sunscreen with Hydresia, SPF 40 Nature's Gate Aqua Block Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50 thinksport Sunscreen, SPF 50+ |
HELLO ladies , We know that not all careers or places of work or business demand that you suit up everyday,some people prefer a simple ,smart look for their day to day business,either because of the weather or it maybe that their work does not involve board room meetings. Below is a collection i put together for those of us that like to look casual but smart to work. 1. a nice skirt with a long sleeves blouse. 2. a shirt dress with a good belt,(this should hit on the knee or just slightly under the knee, not a mini shirt dress) 3 or a pair of jeans ( Yes! Jeans )a Tank top or Blouse with a Blazer/Jacket that brings both jeans & top together to give you the smart in casual. The shoes and bag in the picture can be used on any of the collections,some earrings, time piece and a lip gloss/balm

@mrshk Yup,i dont regret buying it. It works and detangles my hair. |
@adaobi123 BB creams or CC creams means (Blemish Balms or Beauty Balms ) ( Colour Correcting) Creams. they are sold mostly in small tubes,and used to hide blemishes or spots on the facial skin ,some people use it as a base foundation for applying their make up while others just use it alone to even their skin tone . Well in my opinion i think its just another marketing ploy by the cosmetics industry/manufacturers to introduce a gloryfied tinted moisturiser in to the market. I am not convinced about the BB creams YET ,thats why i havn't bought it ( when ever i need sheer coverage with out make up to evenn out my skin tone i make myself some tinted moisturisers using my liquid make up(foundation mostly) and moisturising lotion and i'm out the door ,that way i arrive at the right colour for my skin tone) Dont take my word for it as certain skin types rave about the BB creams or CC creams and how it helps them cover imperfections like dark spot ,un even skin tone , dark under eye circles e.t.c . Mind you , the BB and CC creams are still considered as make up so you have to wash off before going to bed , you dont sleep with it on your face . and its a temporary coverage while still treating your blemishes. |
Sun block ladies ! Sun block ! This is so essential Forget foundations,concealers , lip balms, moisturisers ,BB creams , and the lot,all that rubbing and wiping on our skin, If you dont use these products with sunblock creams (UVA AND UVB protection creams) ,you are damaging the texture of your skin and inviting wrinkles not to mention skin cancer. we are all going to age ,but its best to age gracefully and this will only happen according to how you have protected your skin. I look at this lady and i can not believe her age,Damn. oh i forgot to mention. drink lots of water ,first thing in the morning and last thing at night. i go to bed with a full cup of water by my bedside,even in the middle of the night ,i drink water. Its now an OCD...lol. |

Also try to apply and massage the hair with oils on the scalp every other day to prevent dry itchy scalp. For more tips please click here http://productsthatactuallydowork..com/2013/07/10-ways-to-manage-african-kids-hair.html |
Hand Cream. For you to have softer palms less wrinkle on fingers look out for hand creams that have Co-enzyme Q10 as part of its ingredients. If you do a lot domestic work that involves you wetting your hands or handling hard objects,always apply the hand cream as soon as you are done,and every 2 to 3 hours .Don't wait till you retire to your bed at night. |
Guchis: Hi Uzo, so i stole your sister's recipe for Jollof rice and made it for the Fam last sunday...it was a HIT!!! It had this 'party rice' aroma and i swear you could perceive it miles awayha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ...lol OMG! i'm so laughing out loud here,ha ha ha @ ''made in china '' .Wow ,thanks, i'm glad it went well. You are right about the aroma being perceived from afar,it gives you an appetite already before the rice is even ready to eat.I guess her ''secret'' recipe is no longer a secret. I'll be in serious trouble if she ever stumbles unto this post and finds out it was me that let it out. ![]() |

hi everyone, if you've ever wondered why your hair drys out and tangles so often after washing with a shampoo, its because almost every shampoo ( 80 to 90 percent) sold in stores has got sodium lauryl sulfate often known as SLS. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a detergent, a crystalline salt of sulfated lauryl alcohol which is infact what produces lather when washing with a shampoo. But the main news behind SLS SHAMPOO Is in fact dangerous to ones health ,SLS is the most common ingredient in most cleaning products used at home... to find an SLS free shampoo please read on... http://productsthatactuallydowork..com/2013/08/sulfate-free-shampoo-from-creme-of.html |
will look out for the tutorial, Thanks ![]() |
