PoliticsRe: Rochas Okorocha Declares Free Education For All In Imo State At Inauguration. by VALIDATOR: 1:26pm On May 31, 2011
1soul:
When i read some people's post here i can't help but marvel at their level of reasoning. Rochas has a reputation to protect and being Imo state's Governor is still a process in his political pursuit, What makes you bunch of pessimists feel like you know better when he wears the shoes and knows where it pinch, His free education foundation has been up and running and at a standard level. Nigerians have totally lost their sense of progressive nature due to corruption from the Presidency to the Cabinet and down to the masses. Rochas can do all that he has promised and even more! After all its not even worth the amount most of our corrupt and God-forsaken Governors embezzle and hide abroad, imagine if a sitting governor can build a standard refinery outside Nigeria while here we suffer for lack of it, Using state money to create employment in other countries while we suffer from acute shortage of same, Seriously most Nigerians need to hit the rehab cos their psychology has been messed up so much that they've lost touch with positive possibilities, Bunch of backward thinkers! I love Nigeria but I hate the way the people think, Most newspapers hunt for bad/sad news because they sell like wild fire, when are we going to start celebrating success and optimistic thinking?
Nice one bro.

Tinubu was and is a great leader, he might be dipping his hand in the till once in a while, but, he has been a great leader and is a far more skilled politician than most of the politicians around, he was the only one to see through OBJ's ruse and if you read bk's post on how our brothers in the East were used in the last elections, he saw through PDP plans.
The problems with Nigerians is that we only praise those who finish projects, the guy who initiated it, got the necessary legislation and got a good guy to continue the job deserves higher praise for his foresight.
Pure Truth.
ProgrammingRe: I Need List Of Computer Schools Where I Can Learn More About Vb6.0 Programming With Special Focus On by VALIDATOR: 9:20am On May 27, 2011
You don't really need a computer school to learn vb6.What you need is a vb6 programmer to show you the fundamentals in just 1 week or less.Believe me,if you are a born programmer, you will be able to carry on on your own.
More importantly,vb6 is old fashion.Better go for vb.net after u have learned vb6 fundamentals. They are similar.
PoliticsRe: Great Leaders In Nigeria's History Before Total Colonisation by VALIDATOR: 8:24am On May 27, 2011
This is one of the best threads ever on NL.
It is on the 4th page and the insults and hate-statements have been extremely minimal if any at all.If you understand the way political and religious threads go on NL you will see that that is a feat.
The solution to Nigeria's political problems might actually be in re-visiting our pre 1914 past.

@odumchi, Sorry about the OPs act of posting only Yoruba History. Other posters have posted other tribes' histories as well and you and I are still free to add ours.

Christianity EtcRe: Harold Camping, World Will Surelly End In October by VALIDATOR: 4:28pm On May 26, 2011
Camping's hands shook slightly as he pinned his microphone to his lapel, and as he clutched a worn Bible he spoke in a quivery monotone about some listeners' earthly concerns after giving away possessions in expectation of the Rapture.

Family Radio would never tell anyone what they should do with their belongings, and those who had fewer would cope, Camping said.

"We're not in the business of financial advice," he said. "We're in the business of telling people there's someone who you can maybe talk to, maybe pray to, and that's God."

But he also said that he wouldn't give away all his possessions ahead of Oct 21.

"I still have to live in a house, I still have to drive a car," he said. "What would be the value of that? If it is Judgment Day why would I give it away?"
Magha must pay.The guy don hammer. grin grin grin
PoliticsRe: Policeman rapes, impregnates 12-yr-old by VALIDATOR: 3:53pm On May 26, 2011
Sad Story.I hope justice will be done.A thorough investigation is of utmost importance here.

But I will also like to add that I do not believe that the girl was forced "twice". They must have done it consensually several times. It only got into the open because she got pregnant. Many undisciplined men ffuck small girls like her who at at financial and emotional disadvantage. believe we should review our laws such that sleeping with a minor has speedy trials and should carry stiffer penalties. Of course I am talking about in the civilized part of Nigeria. Not in the part of the country where a state governor chose to marry a minor and they feel it's ok.

You don't like history. Many other people do.
For example, I came very close to shedding tears at the King Jaja story even though I have head it over and over in the past.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Masses Are As Corrupt As Nigerian Politicians (evidence) by VALIDATOR: 2:51pm On May 26, 2011
Guys.Let's look at it this way.
Did Harvard make students brilliant OR did brilliant students make Harvard what it is?
I will say it is both ways.A push-pull thing.

Harvard has a strict policy that ensures that only brilliant students are admitted. the students once in Harvard must stay brilliant and even more brilliant to keep the "system" going.

So,it is a "system" thing.

Corruption abound in Nigeria because both the leaders and the followers believe in such a "system".If the leaders believe in corruption and the followers don't, corruption will gradually fade of.Likewise if the followers believe in it but the leaders don't,it will fade off.

Mathematically,it follows a Normal (Guasian) Distribution curve where the perceived characteristic of a whole population is determined by 68% of the population that fall within 1 standard deviation from the mean.

If like me,you like math, you can analyze it further.
ProgrammingRe: Is There Any Chance That A Female Can Become A Very Good Programmer by VALIDATOR: 1:12pm On May 25, 2011
dewaledeyi:
Females have been scientifically proven to be more intelligent than males.

Programming involves logic, which is a man's thing but if a female works at i.t she becomes a guru cos it always interest females when they learn logic. Remember what you are learning will be academic while a man's natural logic is crude.

I have over 20 years in IT and much of that time is spent programming. Talking from my experience, just put your mind to it. Once you are able to scale the initial hurdle of logical manipulations and perculiarities of various programming languages, you will become the best.

I'll also like to warn you that it is addictive.

My 2 cents.
The bolded above is the simple reason why there are fewer female programmers. Programming is indeed very addictive. If you enjoy it like I do,you just won't want to go to bed on time and your life tend to be very un-programmed as you tend to eat, shiit, ffuck, sleep, etc at odd times or you skip them all together just because the codes are flowing well.
Just please find a balance between the codes and the real life.Do not let computer programming un-program your life just like any other addictive thing.

^^^
Just being a graduate doesn't give you an edge anymore. If you need a job you have to have what the employers need. They need more than your Degree/HND. They will prefer that in addition you pursue professional qualifications e.g ICAN.
My advice:
Take it that you are yet to finish school.Go start ICAN ASAP.I know it is expensive but there is hardly any other way for a Nigerian graduate. I was in your shoes but it took me a lonnnng time b4 I accepted the reality and pursued professional qualifications and eventually got a job (just like that). In your case ICAN is your best bet.

This thread has been around since February and it's just hitting the homepage? Some sponsor somewhere?

I graduated from that sch and believe me, those students would opt for that 'punishment' than to be dealt with by the book.

The offense warrants SUSPENSION.
Pls tell them.
The average Nigerians do not seem to understand that those people were not forced to attend that school and the rules were made very clear to them before they enrolled. It is not a matter of whether that law was sensible or not.It is a matter of "that is what they signed up for".

@akpan123,
People like u make me wonder if the average Nigerian has a fair sense of judgment. Have you tried to put yourself in the position of the husband to be?
If her dirty past has a permanent evidence such as Bleep videos all over the web and on people's phones, or she has had a child, a damaged womb, etc and she claims to have turned a new leaf, she wouldn't be claiming that she is a virgin.
If truly she has turned a new leaf, she will let him know what he is"buying".

@akpan123,
how will you feel if a few days after your wedding you accidentally find your wife's eight-month old HIV test saying "positive" ?

No drug can cure it yet. You can only control its intensity by controlling the amount of sunlight your eyes take in. The lesser the light the better.
RomanceRe: Advice Me Now by VALIDATOR: 8:33am On May 10, 2011
Having once been a teacher,I can tell that what you are saying is very likely to be true.
The students too have sexual fantasies and the way some of them wink at you while you are standing in front of the class can make you loose control. Not to talk of the ones that deliberately flash their inner thighs at you just to see how you react.

Have you learned your lessons from how she treated you?Are you learning from the fact that you can not justify what you did in front of any sane person? It simply will be seen as you taking advantage of an "innocent" girl.

The method i used to get through throughout my teaching career was

"Can I defend my action if it gets into the open?"

I still use the method now that I am married. It has contributed to my remaining happily married. For me,the fear of getting caught in the short or long run and loosing the good name and happiness that my family and I have built over the years is far greater than the enjoyment of less than one hour with a person who will be seen as "innocent".

What should you do now?
If you are man enough,go get yourself a matured lady to date.Meanwhile, face the consequences of the "innocent" minor you just attempted to "r.ape".
PoliticsRe: 15-year-old Naija Girl Is Harvard/ivy-bound by VALIDATOR: 8:47am On May 09, 2011
It pains my heart to see that almost every topic degrades to tribal "war" on NL. A Nigerian has achieved something good out there. We should be happy for her irrespective of where in Nigeria her parents come from. We need to love one another more OR just break up if it is impossible.

What is really surprising is not the nonsense Joagbaje comes up with - it is that a he has a number of followers/supporters or fellow frauds. Are there really that many st*pid people out there ?
No,there aren't.It is just fear of certainty that makes them temporarily stewpeed when it comes to religious matters. It is difficult to imagine that all what they have been living for is real only in their own coconut heads.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Burning Quoran? by VALIDATOR: 2:29pm On Apr 15, 2011
Many centuries back,in the christian world burning the bible invoked the same emotions that burning the quran is evoking now in the muslim world.People have been killed and are still being killed for showing their non-approval of others' religious standards.

Don't worry the muslims too will eventually get more civilized and get over that attitude. May be then it will be the atheists' turn to kill for their believes.

The fact is that mankind will always have reasons to be divided and fight one another over unverifiable believes. We just love saying "you are wrong and I'm right."It is an ego booster.
