Kei144: Problem I have with this report is that biometric signal processing is a software thing. Is it the software that was produced in Nigeria? I am quite certain that Nigeria does not have the technology to produce any hardware suitable for biometrics.

Not really so my guy. As early as around year 2000 when I got to know the "inventor" (Prof. T.S Ibiyemi) on this same project we were not only focused on software. We actually targeted making embedded systems using micro-controllers and assembly language. I have watched him drill students during project defense and his favorite question was always easily "what makes your project better than what is in the market right now especially the imported ones?" That is to show you the way the man sees things. He loved to see that you are attempting to solve a Nigerian problem. Our system needs to encourage people like him and people who aspire to be like him. Nollywood need to help redefine who our children see as heroes and celebrities. Right now the heroes are politicians, musicians and actors/actresses. We know they are not solving any Nigerian problem.

The moment we have a landmark achievement in a technology our government should create policies that deliberately discourages us from buying abroad. This will encourage those foreign companies to come establish a base here in Nigeria. That means more jobs for Nigerians.

Romance / Re: Describe The Worst Person You Ever Dated by VALIDATOR: 3:28pm On Sep 06, 2013
I once dated this girl who was always pessimistic. At any point in time she always expected something to go wrong with the relationship or her personal life or someone close to her.I first thought she was forming but I later realized that is how her brain's Operating System works. In fact she expected me to treat her harshly as according to her I must just have been pretending and she needed to see the wrong side of me. Within 4 months she broke up with me like 6 times (no exaggeration ooo).She always came back to ask to let's continue the relationship and somehow I always accepted her back because I believe I could teach her to see the positive side of things. She said I wasn't religious enough and she was scared I might be hiding something bad which she will discover when it is too late. One day she broke up with me via sms in the morning and later called me in the afternoon to come meet her mum. Sounds like wacky drama huh? I went to meet her mum and her mum was even more pessimistic than she was! All her gists were about calamities that befell people around her. Oooo I then said "I owe this girl a duty to help her see the good side of life" because it wasn't her fault.She grew up among pessimism.

Somehow, she left me as usual. Her reason was that her dad (a pastor) will not allow her to marry me as I was not religious enough and I might be prone to a lot of dangers from the devil. He told me about all the dangers that we will be exposed to if we do not hold on firmly to God the way they believed it.Though like his wife and daughter he also acknowledged that he couldn't see anything wrong with me but he just preferred a man that is more involved with religion. I said I can not act what I don't feel.And that ended all attempts to salvage the relationship. We went our separate ways.

Fast forward one year later she came looking for me to nack her akpako in my office. I tapped current and refused to nack. She came to my house I stripped her naked and refused to nack. I just wanted to know if she was still the virgin that I left her. She wasn't. She then came up with story of two guys who treated and badly after she left me. I told her it was too late. I already had someone and we loved each other and that is the person that I will marry because she is my dream girl. She left with disappointment.Even if she was still a virgin I wouldn't have disvirgined her. something just gave me great patience in dealing with her.I didn't want to owe her in any way.

Fast forward one year later I went somewhere very close to her office and went in to say hello to her. She wasn't happy to see that I was happliy married. I saw she was pregnant but she couldn't give any meaningful answer when I asked about her husband. Two days later she called me to tell me that since the last time I came to visit her she has fallen ill. That I may have something to do with it. Yee pah ! I thought it was a joke until the mum too called me to beg me not to spiritually hurt her daughter. I was not too surprised. They were always expecting every event to lead to something bad.

Pessimism is the reason why I rate my relationship with her as my worst.

@OP,
If it is not a problem you won't be worried to the extent of binging it online. Exit the relationship fast or "defriend" your friend for life. You will never be comfortable having two of them close to you.Neither will she.Neither will your friend.You will never feel free to have him help drop her off at work or be together without you watching over them. Confirm from the girl and let her know why the relationship must be terminated now. For the future "you can't think of having any long term relationship with anybody that your family or/and friends have done"

Religion / Re: Top 10 Common Dreams And Their Meanings by VALIDATOR: 8:27pm On Aug 20, 2013
Dreams occur during the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage of sleeps and the waves emitted by the brain during REM is very similar to what it emits while you are fully awake but remarkably different from what it emits during Non-REM stage of sleep.
While you are awake you can consciously control your emotions but during sleep you can't.The lack of consciouus control during dreams make your emotions to be amplified during dreams.The advantage of this is that you will easily know the outcome of current events in your life if you continue handling those events the way you are doing now. You can use www.Dreamtionary.com to easily interprete almost any dream for free and even create a diary for your dreams.

@Op,
Very interesting !
This shows us one fundamental thing about the human nature. People want more from life than just food, clothing, shelter and education. Humans want more than just their basic needs. Humans want power as well.People want freedom. Bribe them with all those things that Gaddafi gave them and they will still demand freedom from you. They want freedom to be among those that decide how much goes to newly weds, car subsidy,etc Not just one superman deciding what's good for everybody. Supermen build nations. Democratic men sustain it.
Politics / Re: "Ajumo'mo" Learning Tablet To Be Launched By Oyo State by VALIDATOR: 9:33am On Jun 11, 2013
2curiousity: What many people here do not know is that all these 'opon imo', 'ajumo mo' of a thing is not new in Nigerian schools. Federal government started it few years ago through NCC and the project was given to ZINOX. What ACN government are doing is just rebranding this as if they are the pioneer. I am not condemning it, at least its a positive development but all am saying ia that federal government started it even since the time of Obasanjo and they have not made so much noise about it. What federal government did that time was that they picked on some schools all over the country, established ICT departments there and equipped them with necessary facilities, internet, solar power supply, 100 tablets minimum, computer systems and printers and even furnitures in most cases. they sent experts to train the teachers on how they will use it to teach the students as well. Whoever is in doubt should visit Methodist Grammar school, bodija and some other schools like that in Oyo state.

What FG did is completely different. They equipped a few school's ICT centers with computers and tablets. The states are giving out textbooks (in form of tablets) to all students. Putting a few books in the library is different from giving books to all students to take home.

Who are these eediots that do not even understand Yoruba language saying he named it after himself.Why not seek clarification from those who understand the language? FYI, Ajumo'mo means collective knowledge (pool of knowledge) and is not related to Ajimobi (rising up to find your way... or something like that).

Also, is anything wrong in not calling it Opon imo (tablet of knowledge)as Osun, it's pioneer did? So, you are saying if Anambra state introduces same thing they should call it Opon imo? It is hi time we learned to appraise things for effectiveness and efficiency and not just on sentiments. We should be more concerned about having an appraisal system for the project from conception to realization. We should be more concerned about if it is just a way for the governors and his paddy's to siphon money or if it is a project that will add value to Nigerian students living in that state.

Yeah. Let's ask by saying "what is the purpose of football?" 22 idiots just knock the ball around for 1hr:30mins and you hear some of them actually earns millions in whatever currency comes to your mind. wetin? Million?Just for knocking ball around? You find no Illuminati tinz in that? Now, some people do not enjoy watching football. They enjoy watching Big Brother. There is too much frustration on the continent and many people have actually lost the sense of doing things just for pure fun. It has to be work, work, work and more work. Have you noticed that our schools hardly have large play grounds anymore? Just classroom blocks. And students now close by 3pm or is it 4pm (dem still dey fail waec+neco ooo).

By the way, we Africans are not really as morally upright as we love to believe. If we had the kind of technologies that the west had we would have discovered. Also, if we really do not love such program it won't sell because we won't buy. Last time I checked the program has millions of Africans followers subscribing. Yes, subscribing to watch the housemates in shower. So much for a morally upright continent.

@Rossike raised valid points and many guys here just criticize without deep examination. What is the purpose of raw materials without values added? The values that you add is what really turns to money these days.Not the raw materials themselves. This is why I always believe that our education system was not deigned to advance our interests. We need to develop our own technologies to help add values to raw materials.By doing that we also add values to the whole of mankind.Not just Nigeria.

We must bear it in mind that getting admitted into a unity school means you are one of the very best from your state. Not necessarily one of the very best nationwide. Ideally, the design of Unity Schools is to have equal number of children from each state live with one another for the six years of secondary school. It is very easy to have states from the north have unbelievably low cut-off marks because they do not even have enough candidates to fill their slots.

Theoretically if a state has 150 slots but presents 100 candidates who all score above 190/200 that state's cut-off mark will be zero.

Being a product of Unity School I can tell you that it is an excellent project suitable for the time it was conceived alongside NYSC. However, we need objectivity in appraising those two programs (Unity Schools and NYSC) to see if they are successful projects. IMHO, they aren't.

Many men that marry ladies because the lady got pregnant usually doubt their paternity of the child unless the child has a striking physical resemblance to them. So, OP, how did your parents get married and how much do you resemble your dad physically.

Gas puffing from the exhaust pipe is a natural thing. My wife and I do it and play about it normally at home. I can't understand how it is supposed to be a problem. My daughter is learning too that it must never be a problem farting or fully expressing any "undesirable" part of you while at home among people that love you.Home is home and public is public. Sometimes when we are having interesting gist and my wife feels like pooping, I follow her to the toilet,she poops and continues the gist and I will be there enjoying her company and the smell of the poop and gases. Sometimes I run away laughing that the smell is too dangerous. It all fun. By the way farts smell only a few seconds. So,why should it be a problem coping with especially if love is involved?

There was this single mum that had two teenage daughters. one was hardworking (i call her sis A)and the other very lazy (sis B). One day sis A put water on fire to prepare garri. She went to have her bath as it was her turn on the bathroom queue. The water started boiling and sis B went all the way to the bathroom to knock the door to tell her that the water was boiling and ready to make the eba. Sis A out of annoyance and wrapped in only her towel came out of the bathroom to give sis B a dirty slap for being a lazy younger sis. Sis B in retaliation just yanked off sis A's towel and lo sis A was stark naked.come see free mojo. Everybody on the queue watch the film well ooo. But i just pitied sis A. She was really a nice hardworking person. Shit happens !

Romance / Re: Can I Marry My Senior Brother's Wife? by VALIDATOR: 8:21am On Mar 08, 2013
This is a very difficult situation the OP has found himself in. First of all the government does not cater in anyway for the woman and her 5 children. Hence, she needs financial and material support. Secondly, she needs emotional and sexual fulfillment as well. Where should she get that from? From unmarried guys her son's age? Or is there any man that will find a woman with such a baggage attractive? The best person for the job is the OP.

May be you should give your wife a hint of what your bros wife is going through and watch her reaction. You can't marry her. I am glad you are already supporting her materially. May be you should start having discrete sexual intercourse with her once in a while (say monthly). She should understand too that she can't have it the way she wants it.

Ver importantly, do not take your decision alone. Let someone else know about it. Maybe your wife's brother. I hope he will be understanding. And heyy, use condom always if you have to enter the place.Not ideal but better for her than nothing.

Sometimes I have a lot of hopes that this country will rise soon. But reading people's responses to the OP's post is re-killing my hope. Isn't it so easy to figure out that it is all lies? Like somebody somewhere is trying to prove that our people can not think straight. 8 years? first class ? kidney sold few days to convocation as if the grades are awarded on convocation day? We need an education system that will actually teach people how to reason and figure things out. Not just memorizing stuffs.

This is a wrong way to go about things. Now that NCC acted dictatorially Nigerians did not complain yet they are the same people who will accuse the leaders of not doing things right. Nobody should tell me how much to sell my goods and services. It is my customers that will decide. If they feel my pricing is unfavorable then they should seek other alternatives. It is the duties of NCC to make other alternatives readily available. For starters they should lower the licensing fee paid by new entrants into the telco market. They ashould also regulate inter connectivity issues among the operators. Price fixing kills business initiatives.
