SportsLiverpool 'set To Make Move For Napoli Defender Koulibaly In The Coming Days' by vanida6(op): 11:31am On Jun 27, 2020
Liverpoolare reportedly expected to make a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as Jurgen Klopp goes full throttle in looking to strengthen his side's place at the summit of English football.
On Thursday night, Manchester City's defeat at Chelseasecured Liverpool's first league title in 30 years, cementing Klopp's place in Anfield history, but the German is focused on building a dynasty and restoring past glories.
And Tuttomercatoreports that Klopp is looking to bring in a defender to partner up with Virgil van Dijk, making Liverpool's defence even more imperious,,Van Dijk and Co have conceded 21 league goals this season - a league low - but Koulibaly has been identified as the man to take the defence to the next level.
The Senegalese has long been linked with a move to England, although clubs have been put off by the £90million price set by Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis for the 29-year-old.
However, the Italian publication says that a move by the Premier League champions is expected in the coming days. The coronavirus crisis has hampered the spending power of Europe's elite, and Napoli may have to decrease their valuation of their star defender. Reports in Italy suggest that defender Dejan Lovren may be included in a deal to land Koulibaly.
The 29-year-old is a wanted man and has been heavily linked with a £72million move to Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola desperate for defensive reinforcements.
Koulibaly is also said to have turned down interest from Newcastle, who are on the cusp of a ground-breaking takeover." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8465689/Liverpool-set-make-Napoli-defender-Kalidou-Koulibaly-coming-days.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C5155151446

SportsKyle Walker's Warning To Liverpool Stars After Enduring Man City "Hurt" by vanida6(op): 8:11pm On Jun 26, 2020
Kyle Walker has paid tribute to Liverpool following their Premier League victory but warned them that Manchester Citywill be desperate to reclaim their crown.
The Reds have been relentless in their pursuit of the top flight title having been pipped last term.
City have struggled to reach the levels of recent years which has allowed Liverpoolto win the league unopposed.
Their 2-1 defeat at Chelseasaw Pep Guardiola's side finally surrender their title and Walker concedes it "hurt" to watch the Reds celebrate their success.
He tweeted: "Last night hurt but full respect and congratulations to @LFC on winning the @premierleague title. It's a great feeling lifting that trophy and next year we will come back stronger and determined to win it back."City can still win three trophies this term having already won the Carabao Cup.
Newcastleawait them in the last eight of the FA Cup and they retain ambitions of lifting the Champions League trophy.
But Guardiola admitted they fell short of a third straight league title because they simply weren't consistent enough.
“Big congratulations to Liverpool for this great season and the title they won," said the Catalan.“We are not consistent like the previous seasons. Liverpool, they played every game as if it is their last game, we didn’t play that way.
"They were confident and played that way all the way through the season.”
City got the better of Liverpool in the season's curtain raising Commuity Shield at Wembley.
A penalty shootout win after a 1-1 draw in normal time suggested another tight title race was in store.
But it never materialised and Liverpool could yet break a host of records currently held by City's all conquering side of 2017/18. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/kyle-walkers-warning-liverpool-stars-22259867?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6035860801

SportsManchester City Did Not Match Liverpool’s Desire For Title, Admits Guardiola by vanida6(op): 9:05am On Jun 26, 2020
PEP GUARDIOLA HAS admitted Manchester City failed to match Liverpool’s desperation for the Premier League title.
Liverpool finally sealed their first top-flight crown since 1990 courtesy of Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over City at Stamford Bridge.
Christian Pulisic’s smart finish and a cool Willian penalty subdued Guardiola’s men in west London, with Kevin De Bruyne’s fine free-kick in vain and captain Fernandinho sent off for handball.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool can now toast their maiden Premier League triumph, with Guardiola conceding that City could not equal the Reds’ desire this term.
“Maybe we didn’t arrive with the same passion; Liverpool played every single game like it was the last chance they have,” said Guardiola.
“And maybe we didn’t get that moment, especially the key moments in the first part of the season.
“That is the reality, that we are so far behind.
“Liverpool were fantastic in consistency throughout the whole season.
“We dropped points at the beginning of the season, and Liverpool didn’t drop points.
“We’ll have to recover for next season, to be more consistent, and recover the points we missed this season.
“That’s the reality. Two years ago we were 25 points ahead of Liverpool, and now they are this distance ahead.
“We cannot forget that we won two titles. This is incredible success for us, for the club; the last six, seven, eight years.
“So we have to take a little perspective, be humble, and say ‘not all the time we can win’.
“And then we must learn what we need to do to avoid this situation again.”
City travel to Newcastle in the FA Cup on Sunday, but then must endure the painful experience of hosting champions Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, 2 July.
Asked whether the hurt of slipping so far behind Liverpool this season must sting City into a response next term, Guardiola replied: “Yeah of course it should be, but now we have I would say still five, six weeks of competition, especially Sunday with the FA Cup.,“It’s important to get to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, get qualification for the Champions League, and after that the Champions League itself.
“I’ve never thought ‘always we can win’, but we can say, the last 10 competitions we played as a club we won eight titles.
“That’s never happened before in this country. You cannot win all the time and always.
“We missed one important central defender. That was a real big problem for us, and we didn’t show the consistency that we need to play better.
“So I’ve never thought in my life that always you can win.
“What we have done in the last three seasons is incredible. And it’s so difficult to maintain this.”
Chelsea boss Lampard hailed Liverpool’s title win, then admitted the Blues have a fight on their hands to catch both Klopp’s men and City.
“I’d just congratulate Liverpool, the title was decided a long time ago,” said Lampard.
“They have a great group of players and a great manager.
“For the last three seasons City have been out on their own pretty much.
“And now Liverpool have shown their quality. It’s clear for us it’s a gap that we want to try and bridge and move towards, but they are two of the best teams in the world.
“So again, credit to Liverpool for what they’ve done.
“There’s a clear gap and it won’t happen overnight with one or two signings, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.
“But this was a big performance and result for us.” https://www.the42.ie/pep-guardiola-5-5133629-Jun2020/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C8207985257
