HealthRe: Ebola: Lagos Begins Man-hunt For 27 Secondary Contacts by vanndubi: 10:22pm On Aug 06, 2014
Govt get mouth sha. They can't locate where they are hiding over 200 Chibok girls in a scantily populated forest. Here they areman-hunting for 27 persons among over 170 million people. This one even pass Jack Bauer.

Nigeria govts always ill-prepared for whatever emergencies. Erecting isolation tents when hospitals around the world have well designed isolation room/wards in their hospitals.

They no longer shake hands but they forgot that they'll give some airport personnel their passport and collect it back grin grin grin Nigeria nka self.

SportsRe: Should Kelech Iheanacho Take Over The No 10 Jersey From Mikel Now? by vanndubi: 12:32am On Jul 29, 2014
Kanu started the way Kelechi is starting off his football career. I see that boy like an emerging star that will shine so bright.

Kanu did made us proud and so will Kelechi make us proud, maybe in 2018. Whether super eagles' politics favours him or not, I see him earning a jersey in the senior team.

SportsRe: Iheanacho In Man City's Starting Line-up by vanndubi:
I said it when this boy was included in the pre-season tour team that he reminds me of kanu. Back in 1994, young kanu fresh from Ajax feeder team, scored in a crucial match against Hajduk of Croatia.

Maybe "Iheanacho" is what the super eagles are "looking for" to complete Kanu's mission- winning the world cup!

He should remain focused as his coach advised.

Trustyd1: Akanu Ibiam himself master minded the creation of Ebonyi state. A state named after the ebonyi river that flows round the state. I'm from Onicha. So there's nothing unfortunate there. Though we're the minority but maybe AfiaOha state will be better. Afikpo and Ohaozara.
I don't have probs with Ohaozara, Onicha or Edaa. My probs is that other part that came from Old Enugu state. matching with them is like doing right-left, right-left instead of left-right, left-right undecided

I grew up in the diaspora, so tribalism has never made and never will make any sense to me. I already told them I love him so they should just deal with it.

So... who wants to teach me my future husband's dialect?? cheesy
This one you are not Igbo and you grew up that side, learning Afikpo dialect will be an uphill task. All the same, it will good to understand "tiko tiko" (apoco apoco, little by little, small small) smiley

Before I forget, Afikpo people are the most cultured people in Igboland. They are just unfortunate to be in the same state with people that are somewhat backward undecided oops

Abiagirl777: yesterday in imo state, met a woman who kept on speakin my dialect ALAYI,BENDE LGA,was so happy i met a sister not untll she told me she was frm OKPOSI in Ebonyi,i marvelled.i mean word for word,no difference.cold it be we share de same bloodline
A dialect dat other LGA'S in Abia state don't undastand.
NWANNE DI NA MBA! Maka chukwu
I think the woman you met is above average Okposi. She might have picked out Alayi dialect to help her in her trading biz. I am from Item and i can speak Afikpo with flawless accent.Imagine an Afikpo man hears me rapping Afikpo flawlessly in imo state . Will it be reasonable then for the Afikpo man to conclude that Afikpo and item speak the same dialect?

There is slight difference between Ohafia and Item dialects. Not to talk of Alayi and Okposi. For you doubt it, try meet an average Okposi person and hear him speak to know if Alayi and Okposi matches" word for word"

Granted, there might be common usage of words but sometimes, same word might have for different meaning. Eg." ka" in Item is a pleasantry but in Afikpo, it means SORRY wink
PoliticsRe: Random Facts About Ebonyi by vanndubi: 4:22am On Jul 22, 2014
salt1: You are wrong, dear. They are very culturally related. Afikpo, Edda, Nkporo, Item, Ohafia and Abiriba share a very complex set of relationships called Ikwu. Unlike other Igbos, they are matrilineal and the bonds span all these towns that I mentioned. An Amasiri person may not marry her Ikwu who is from Item.

There are also several similarities in language: Jokwa and ka a.
They also share several festivals like mbe and ikpo.
I am from Amasiri and I studied our people's history and language

Some people say Ebonyians are lazy. When you compare with the Anambra and Abia Igbos, this is painfully true. Our people are so laid back and not as enterprising. Truth doesn't hurt. Afikpo side isn't as enterprising and Abakaliki people are too crude. TRUTH!
Maybe you see only one side of the coin (Amasiri side). I am from Item and my mother is from Afikpo. I know Afikpo in and out. I speak Afikpo dialect in flawless accent. And I can say with confidence, that culturally, there is huge gap (although smaller when compared with Other areas in igboland)
PoliticsRe: Random Facts About Ebonyi by vanndubi: 7:03pm On Jul 21, 2014
Ihuomadinihu: Are Ebonyi and Abia related? I think so,similar cultute and dialect.
The only relationship is that Ebonyi south (Afikpo zone) and Abia north were both in old Imo state and they both greet "Jökwa". Although they share common boundary, I think their culture and dialect are wide apart.

millionaireman: Does President Jonathan and his ministers care about the road? Political decampees from APC to PDP in many other states outside Imo are rewarded by Jonah with multi billion Naira federal projects, or least, ministerial appointments. Decampee Shekarau has just been appointed Education Minister. But Imo decampees from APC to PDP got nothing - nothing since last February they displayed traditional wears with Jonah in Owerri and Orlu. Jonah and PDP seem to take Support of Imolites for granted. Today, close to 120,000 qualified applicants to university education from Imo state have no chance. Does Jonah and his ministers and PDP care?
That convoy passed us at Imo poly after bullying us off that jaga-jaga road. I just could not help but to bury my head in shame

idealsico: The poster does not have the correct details of that road.Admitted, the road is in a very bad state. However,it is a federal road already undergoing reconstruction. It is practically impossible for the state government to either re-award the contract or as it stands, carry out any activity on it. The FG will view it that an opposition governor wants to ridicule it and score cheap political goal.Remember how Godsday Orubebe reacted when Amaechi offered to do the Rivers segment of the East - West road that was in a sorry state.I am not holding brief for the Imo state government but I know that Rochas had had cause to intervene on FG roads in the past, eg Aba - Owerri road,Owerri - Orlu, etc.
I said in the post that I don't know how govt do their thing but one thing applies, common sense. If IMG had intervened in the past like u mentioned, why can it intervene in this case, why?

October 8, 2006 at about 4pm was a moment I will never forget in my life. Insane armed robbers made us lay on the road at this same Umuapu. One pointed the nozzle of his locally made gun to my head .today, robbers they said on this thread still take advantage of the bad road .

Why can't IMG intervene to save law abiding citizens the high BP this road is causing .

He just wants to be heard and we don hear. That stretch of road is about 50%completed,i guess the delay is due to paucity of funds..we know milestone payment stuff.

I just want to be heard, I think that's absurd. The subject of this posting mentioned "Umuapu axis" but u're the type that finds it difficult to comprehend written words. And it is on that ground alone I can pardon u for saying that I just want to be heard.

If you pay ur tax as at when due and u own a car, u'll understand why we should not beg govt to make our road motorable. I no longer travel in the comfort of my car. Why? Each time I travel in my car, I'll end up visiting my mechanic.

Meanwhile, I've passed imo into Rivers and contractor is no where to be found.

TravelPitiable condition of Port Harcourt /Owerri road (Umuapu axis) by vanndubi(op):
It is with heavy heart I present before the house, the deplorable condition of part of Port Harcourt /Owerri federal road.

The last time I visited Owerri was in November 2013. By then, RSG has completed its section of the expressway on behalf of FG and IMG was working from Owerri end on behalf of FG. I was in PH on Saturday and I decided to travel to Owerri on Sunday to spend the day there. Sunday morning, I hit the road.

I was hoping to have a jolly good ride. Omagwa to Elele was less than 20 mins n I was like cool but on entering Imo, I was like sad why has the contractor not completed the work to merge with the completed Rivers side.

I was like shocked when I came face-to-face a sight very difficult for me to describe. I started having doubts if I was in 2014. It was like a war tore area like it was 1970 just after the civil war or like Okigwe /Afikpo federal road back in the 90s.

I looked at my phone to confirm the date. Lo n behold, it was 2014 shocked shocked shocked A trunk A road linking two cities in African's Biggest economy. I was about to have a fit undecidedwhen I saw a truck carrying 20ft container literally broken into two(possibly as a result of bad road). My phone still in my hands, I decided to take a few shots.

FG should remember that federal roads are their responsibility, that IMG is only helping, that imo citizens pay their taxes like anyother citizen of Nigeria and that "there is God in everything we are doing. Then, to IMG, why start FG project when you know you cannot finish it, why?

I don't know exactly how government works but I am appealing to Owelle to do his best to complete the Imo side of the road. Maka ndi Igbo n'asi n'ihe foro otu, agwula agwu. Ana achu aja, ka ikpe ana ama ndi mmuo.

Hope after posting this, sleep will come (I'm still recovering from the shock of yesterday's morning) undecided

For emphasis but here's the bigger picture. Everything is laterally inverted

EducationRe: Why The Word "AMBULANCE" Is Written Backward by vanndubi: 4:10pm On Jul 11, 2014
Stanley4E: So that drivers ahead of it on the road can read
it (correctly) as AMBULANCE in their rear-view
mirrors, and yield the right of way.
If the word was not reversed, the drivers of the
cars ahead of the vehicle would see:
"ECNALUBMA."
Of course, if it has flashing lights and sirens
going, they would yield to it anyway. Perhaps
this was done so that drivers would not mistake
an ambulance for a police vehicle with similar
lights.

MOD please get this to front page to educate others. thanks
Thanks for this info but I want to point out that the word was not written backward. Instead, it was laterally inverted.

To proof it, I mirrored ur "backwardly written ambulance" and that which was written on the van. The output
