Nigerians no dey carry last! People are seeing the signs that this man could well be the next president of this country and everybody is trying to make sure that they are not forgotten if and when that happens. Same thing Ogoni leaders yesterday said to Buhari "we believe you are the one" as if they have seen it in a vision or something. Plus I think generally Nigerians want to see if someone else can do things differently. |
This is why I personally find this "MEND backs Buhari" story plausible: We all know that the late Yar'adua tried assiduously and with all sincerity to in his words "do everything to ensure that the conditions that make people take arms against the nation and subject themselves to inhuman conditions in the creeks are ameliorated". GEJ unfortunately did not continue from where his predecessor stopped. Don't take it from me, take it from Henry Okah who in a phone interview after he was arrested in South Africa after the October 1 bombings said "With Yar'adua it was much better. He had a good understanding of the problem. And regardless of the fact that he was from the north he was making good attempt at addressing these problems. But with Jonathan it is entirely a different story. He doesn't know what the problems are and is also being tele-guided by other people, you know, who are giving him very bad advice." Now that may well be down to Yar'adua being a better leader than GEJ, but I think there could be more to it. I think Nigerians are beginning to understand that a leader who is not of you tends to pay more attention to your problems even if it is simply for fear of being seen as ethno-religiously biased, while a leader that is yours tends to be like "they are my people, they will support me regardless." So perhaps MEND expect Buhari, a northerner, to pay more attention to their plight and that is why they are supporting him. |
kilokeys:So no be only me been dey scratch my head |

PDP has raped this country to the extent of making Nigerians believe their country cannot have the funds to sustain ordinary unemployment benefits programs like this (which many countries of the world have including the US and UK). Sad. What if I tell you that based on what the government of Nigeria actually ought to be earning from all its sources of revenue, a 4 trillion Naira annual budget is a massive travesty? You will be surprised how much extra Nigeria will earn by plugging the bleeding due to oil theft alone (a term that only exists in Nigeria) even at low oil prices. Then you have government overspending. A simple case in point was when the late Yaradua planned to spend about 62 million for the 50th anniversary celebration in 2010 and oga GEJ during whose tenure it took place spent 10 billion! And then you have corruption. And stealing . |
CHOI!!! 5-3!!! But as I dey laff chelsea I come remember say Arsenal neva visit WHL yet this season and will in 5 weeks time. Wenger!! make u no embarrass us for north london derby o!!! |
Some are sounding like it was good riddance when the oracle left, when the most anxious wait of all is still ahead i.e. after AC when we would be so close we could taste it. An insider companion during that period would be appreciated even though not absolutely needed. Speaking for meself here. And it's not like the info adds to our chances in any way. For me, it just comes in handy when planning my activities. |
So going by Shell's standard of two days duration of AC per group of candidates i.e. 3 ACs per week (assuming Saturdays are included), say a max. of 10 candidates per group, about 300 candidates in total, that gives a total of 10 weeks. So there you have it. AC is going to be held from March to May 2015, after the peaceful elections in February. |
I think I understand the whole issue here. Lemme break it down: 1. The wait (particularly after the SHL success mail) has been too long so understandably peeps are getting frustrated, especially the unemployed and underemployed. Some have even been planning how to spend the "blood money" (I remember the 2007 guy that went to price a flat in VI straight after AC). 2. There are various rumours flying around concerning dates from Jan 2015 to March 2015 and even later, and no one knows which to believe or whether to believe any at all as everyone keeps mentioning they got the info from their "sauce", which is the peak of vagueness. 3. The only person whose info has consistently checked out and who most of us believe (some even say they know for a fact) is "affiliated" with NLNG and as such is capable of giving us definitive info concerning dates came and started saying something about the dates but, for reasons most people would understand, ended up saying nothing. Put these three together and some people are bound to get annoyed. Now, oga Dplacement, I have always defended your actions on this thread (Seun is my witness) for the simple reason that candidates don't normally get to have someone on the inside feeding them with genuine info at such an "open-source" scale as this thread --and NL, and the internet-- allows. However, because of the state of frenzy that some of our minds are in at the moment (due to points 1&2), I have to say, you really should have given us either all or none of the information. And err...guys, chill abeg. Save all the debating for when we'll be designing train 8. |
Siicker:You think they would respond? My own be say when I get dere NLNG go explain to me due to what dem make me wait so. aswear. |
Due to Ebele |
100 pages...congrats house. Needless to say, it has been a long time coming. Here's to hoping this long wait will be well worth it in the end. |
And to think that some candidates have been - and still are - doing nothing else but waiting for NLNG all this while |
*drops pin* |
PrinceofParis:Who dash monkey banana? ![]() |
So experienced hire candidates ought to be having their interviews as we speak |
tolutweety:So some people are still following this thread |
mcpat:Yes I think you have a point here. So Adjusted Model = Original Model + error coefficient "due to Ebola" ![]() |
The last time we received a success/stand-by-for-further-instructions email, the further instructions (in my case) came only six days later. This time around it's two and a half months and counting and still no further instructions. So assuming someone were to develop a model to predict the schedule of NLNG Graduate Recruitment process by extrapolating data from the timetable of events of previous stages of the process, the model would be ridiculously erroneous. |
airsaylongcon:Welcome back bro! The house has certainly missed you. In your absence there was no one else to give us another brain-teasing challenge like THAT legendary bridge-crossing puzzle to keep us busy during this long wait. Once again, it's good to have you back. |
To those complaining about the vagueness of Dplacement's info nowadays, where were you when he reported to the house that he had been asked "to stop posting for fear of being seen as unfairly influencing the recruitment process." A little info is better than none. At least we now know that this long wait was certainly an anomaly due to Ebola (pardon the pun) and that the process is about to get going again after that pause. |
mashiboy:It is not true because it is impossible. @airsaylongcon My deepest condolences. Take heart bro. It is never easy. |
Okay so apparently a certain experienced hire candidate received an email today (or perhaps a phone call) officially stating 18th October as his/her interview date. Okay o. We the "inexperienced" candidates are still waiting... |
LumiNG: 6 days on page 88 now.I see what you did there! ![]() |
*drops pin* |
Okay then perhaps it's not a general mail rather a special one, afterall you are the ![]() In any case, it is good to know that NLNG haven't forgotten about us. |
Dfavouredone: just got this:Are you sure this post was meant for this thread? Because that doesn't sound like an NLNG recruitment mail unless they've suddenly changed formats. |
Lewinskee: You don't expect me to name my source on a public forum like this, do you?Okay you sound genuine enough. Just wanted to make sure it isn't a prank. |
Lewinskee: Invites for interview will be sent next month.Your source or adonbilivit! |
House, concerning this seemingly invincible bridge-crossing challenge, what do you say we just manage my attempt posted back in page 73? vantage7: Okay here's my attempt but it is based on one huge assumption: A person holding the torch midway on the bridge can use it to illuminate the way up to either end of the bridge. |
Then plan C. From the junction we travel east at 25mph for 12mi. That takes 0.48hrs or around 29 mins. Then we get on the track and engage 4wd and slow down to 10mph. The 38 miles journey takes us 3.8 hours or 3hrs 48mins. So leaving the junction at 0838hrs, we would arrive Karda bridge at 1255hrs. Then we take the road from the bridge and travel normally for 15 miles at 25mph. That takes 0.6hrs or 36mins. So we'd finally arrive REBITZ at 1331hrs. On schedule. And as for fuel consumption, we left TARZA with full tanks (presumably, because at the briefing it was said that the convoy will make a stop at TARZA for 30mins so it was presumably a refuelling stop) so now that we are at the junction, the trucks having travelled for 20mi at 8mpg must have used up 2.5gals out of the 38gals in their tanks. The 38mi journey at 4mpg (due to 4wd) will consume a further 9.5gals, making 12gals. Then the 15mi road journey at 8mpg would consume another 1.9gals. That makes a total of 13.9gals. If we take the same route back to TARZA we would end up using 27.8gals all in all. So we would have enough fuel. But, what if the recently and temporarily reconstructed Karda bridge fails to support the weight of the trucks? And can the patients last for five hours without getting proper medical attention? |
chai. Naija we hail thee
