I've really been surprised how nairalanders don't know what makes pages flip on Nairaland. |

Spotted DSSHQ on this thread. I say GT "nominees" are undergoing security screening. And er...remember this post back in August 2014 about those on/about to start masters programs in the UK? DSSHQ: Who'd have thought that even those that started in September 2014 have a real chance to get both their MSc and the job provided they came for the AC and were on a 1-year program? In fact, with this new talk of a possibility of resumption in March (as much as we hope and pray it isn't true), even those on 18 months programs have a chance. This our employer sha...to quote a new member of the family, they take their time. As in, they are not in a hurry, at all. It is well. 1 Like |

Page 200! Magic page or not, I think we should all take a moment to celebrate this milestone against the odds of that data loss and the thinning out of the house after every stage, and also to reflect on how far we've come and those that have dropped out and moved on (some of them are kind enough to once in a blue moon pop in and say hi), and to remember the various episodes that have kept the thread alive this long - the quota brouhaha, the bridge-crossing puzzle, the AC spill or no spill debacle, the tired "this is the week" palava, the various sauces - the reliable ones and the not-so-reliable and those that were merely pretending, hell, we even deliberately and continuously decided to misuse a word that we now do almost subconsciously - and all the events that have possibly affected the this process (Ebola, the oil price crash), all the drama that has ensued, and to look forward to the future - success mail or regret mail - as we are all relatively young people and no one knows what the future holds. To the future! 5 Likes |

By fire by force una wan carry this thread reach page 200. The magic number that some believe will coincide with the mails dropping. Okay, here's some analysis: If resumption is slated for January, the mails have to drop in November (as has been mentioned previously on this thread) due to the 1-month notice to current employers. However, let me constrain it further. By my analysis, it shouldn't be later than mid-November which leaves two weeks for medicals (going by the two weeks given to EH guys to complete theirs, assuming it is a standard). So guys, brace for impact. 3 Likes |

Lesson learnt in the last couple of weeks: all sauces are unreliable. 1 Like |

Ehen, my turn now for the felicitations. Congrats bro! So now you're gonna be doing all those analyses of train 7 and what not for real! Don't worry, we're right behind you. Okay guys, this dude waited a whole year before he was contacted. Granted, that is far more likely to normally happen in the case of experienced hires than gts, and I'm not saying either case is fair or not or anything (cause I dunno what's going on in there) but imagine constantly checking your mail for a year in anticipation. Let's try and borrow a leaf even if it's a tiny one (of course no one would reasonably expect ours to be close to that long). Of course it's a tad easy for me to say because I'm employed but you're very wrong if you think the anticipation isn't killing me too. forkadict: |

From all the hints dropped here concerning the likely number of GT intakes it means that for most candidates these mails are just going to serve as closure. |

Mehn...the level of anticipation here is palpable. |

prelinctus: In other words, we should forget about results for now because they're not going to be out anytime soon based on antecedents. Good advice. |

solatwizzy: Therefore, if none of the GT candidates make the required cutoff, they'll employ no one. BUT, if all of us make the cutoff, they'll employ all of us, some with immediate effect and others on a waiting list. |

Djbaka: Machini: Exactly, and because we got periodic updates on the status of the exercise. Chronicles: >Success mail was in July and we were told to be on standby for the next stage. >In December we got word that the next stage would be held late Q1 2015. And we later found out that the huge gap (July-December) was "due to ebola". >Then early March this year we were told that Q1 2015 was no longer feasible due to rescheduled elections. >In May, we were finally given dates for the AC. >Then we were sent reminders early June. Now this is September. If resumption is going to be Q1 2016, late September/early October wouldn't be a bad time for feedback mails to drop accompanied by a time frame for medicals. But primarily, I think it is difficult now more than ever because of the added anxiety of thinking you could get cut at the final stage, just when you were about to make it through. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Just saw the GM HR of NLNG on Channels, and everyone in the living room was like "oga, which way?" |

incredu:He's experienced hire, so it adds up. |
![]() |
naastyme:Of course I completely understand where you are coming from. I was just being overly optimistic that whoever gets called up for medicals will eventually get an offer letter and if that is the plan in the mind of NLNG then they know that right from the medicals stage they are dealing with one of theirs, and they do take care of their own, so the transport reimubursement/arrangement should be a given. 1 Like |

naastyme:You are asking if NLNG would cater for the transportation of its own staff because AFAIK and as has been discussed on this thread some time ago, people rarely fail medicals and this is a company that even has a contract with a certain charter airline for the management of transportation of its staff and contractors to and from Bonny, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. |

forkadict: Interestingly, I see it as both. It is obviously a threat to NLNG, but I see it as more of an opportunity to us. Because NLNG foresees a possible reduction in its market share due to a couple of formidable players entering the market it will tend to take action. and the obvious action to take here is to try and ramp up production i.e. increase its market share by increasing output (hence more trains) before the competition come on stream obviously there will be a lead time (of investment in the plants, gas supply infrastructure etc, which NLNG already has in place) from the decision of the competition to enter the market to the first LNG shipment. That fact gives NLNG more leverage to negotiate long-term SPAs with buyers but they have to break ground on train 7 to show they mean business. Just my opinion. 1 Like |
