Danisaint112: Who are the people that you are worried about for liking his posts? Don't you know that dude has like 50 accounts? You think it's strange, but if NAIRALAND is your job from 4:00a.m to about 11:00 p.m, don't you think you think you would also get multiple accounts? The goal of APC has always been to sway public opinion to distract from facts, so an old site like nairaland is easy for them to hijack and fake like themselves. I think they've noticed that nairaland is easier than twitter to form accounts and fake like themselves. Twitter pays real money, so if users do that, they could only get away with it for so long before admin or devs catch on. 2 Likes |
Politics / Refinery To Be Completed By Government That Can't Fix OPEN GUTTERS by VaselineCrew: 2:30pm On Jul 10 |
Nigerians make me laugh sometimes. See OPEN GUTTERS on almost every street in front of million-dollar homes in lekki/V.I, filled with poo, pee, algae, larva, trash, vomit, mud... yet those homeowners pay "TAX" to government. Do you guys understand just how intricate a refinery is? Do you know the size of some of the equipment? Like the Separators, Towers..? Do you understand the lead time involved in getting a replacement equipment for instance, or do you think it's like buying from jumia or aliexpress with few weeks delay? You really, really expect that your leaders that can't even cover open gutters and put filters, would somehow be able to deliver a project as complex as a refinery? The private sector in Nigeria, is what keeps Nigeria going, even when Nigeria is limping. Your Government across board has never cared about you, but, sadly, some Nigerians would rather attack their brothers who do care about them, to defend Politicians that already thought they were dead. 1 Like 1 Share

Quest7777: You do have a point here, as I believe you're saying tribe would still have come into play. I do however believe that a leader with the mentality of stonewalling the people, would also have a mentality of holding on to power at all costs, so GEJ would have banned things like protests, to make sure the voices of the people were silenced. We all know that this wasn't the case as under GEJ, the country witnessed some of its greatest protests with no threat to the protesters. It's still perplexing to me to be rating GEJ so highly now, even though at the time, I perceived him to be just average or slightly below average. I remember then, wishing for a president better than GEJ, but when APC brought out Buhari I almost vomited and ran to GEJ as though he was a shade under a tumultuous storm. How a country would ever consider a coup plotting dictator, with little to no education, as a democratic leader still befuddles me till today. 1 Like |

Atuero: We are just so so wicked to ourselves as black people. Trust me if the man cared, he could even do sand leveling on the roads not ready for construction due to budget constraints. Let there be a traffic light that isn't working on a typical Nigerian road and say that non-working traffic light has been causing uncountable accidents. Give a typical Nigerian politician 1 billion dollars and 1 year to fix the light and at the end of the year, he will present the STILL NON-FUNCTIONING light, telling his people to be "be patient", that "these things take time" THEY JUST DON'T CARE AT ALL, LIKE NOT EVEN AN IOTA OF CARE DO THEY POSSESS. IT'S SCARY TO THINGK ABOUT, BUT THEY JUST DON'T CARE AT ALL AND IT'S SCARY TO REALLY SIT AND CONSIDER THIS BITTER TRUTH. THEY DO NOOOOT CARE ABOUT ANY MASSES SUFFERING. DIE, DON'T DIE, THEY JUST DON'T CARE Citizens need to start throwing petrol bombs at CORRUPT POLITICIANS when they see them in their LUXURY convoys 1 Like |

That's Nigeria for you Goverment does nothing and blames predecessor. How many time since I was a child to now an adult have I read/heard Nigerian politicians saying to be "Patient, the rot is deep"? So no one was ever working ba? Every new governor/president talks like they just started ruling an abandoned plantation or something, or rebuilding a war torn area Ask this guy to pay a web developer 100k to list all the roads he is currently working on, the budgets, project timelines... See how he will go mute, mtcheew |

I remember when GEJ used to come out to interact with the public via the press I remember when GEJ used to visit sites to console with the victims of terrorism. I remember when GEJs wife was shedding tears that schoolgirls were kidnapped and Nigerians mocked her saying "There is God oooo" ... Buhari and Tinubu came and only "talk"(dictate) to the masses on special occasions like Newyear and Independence day, while Nigerians hailed them, saying they are too big to come out and interact with the LOWLY masses. Femi Adesina, even went as far as saying that TALKING TO THE PUBLIC is NOT BUHARIS STYLE and Nigerians clapped, saying in essence, that they were not worthy to even be thought about by their own president (incredible). |
Politics / Re: Drainages In Lagos That Lead Nowhere, But Goverment Wants To Demolish Homes by VaselineCrew: 6:10pm On Jul 05 |
Closed Gutters would OFFER SUCH A HUGE BOOST to tourism in Nigeria Not too many foreigners want to spend their hard-earned money to go on vacation to places with poo smelling open gutters. Imagine taking a stroll after buying Suya from a Nigerian restaurant, munching on the suya, then you look down by mistake and see a green bubbly concoction of filth that seems to be alive and breathing, while oozing a unique and pungent odor. Not too many foreigners that only get a week vacation will want to experience that, except the hardcore adventurers, the rest would rather go to an African Safari, or Maimi or wherever. |

Sanwolu and other Nigerians will visit U.K, Germany, France... and NEVER WILL THEY SEE OPEN GUTTERS. The same exposed Sanwolu will apologize to Lagosians for floods in Lagos with OPEN GUTTERS that litter almost every street, while blaming Nature. Ask Sanwolu to show you OPEN GUTTER like this in the U.K Our leaders must really hate and underate us in Nigeria, because all the money they are spending on SUV this and that can be paid to a contractor that would work on closing gutters and providing them with filters. We Nigerians must never see OPEN GUTTERS as a normal way of life, please. Let us pass down to our children, beautiful streets that aren't prone to flooding at the slightest of rains, and that aren't exposing people to unnecessary health hazards.

A quote from the Lagos government apology thread by a nairalander axglide: This is the typical response from an average Nigerian that sees absolutely nothing wrong with open gutters. We need to evolve as a people beyond this savage level of thinking OPEN GUTTERs in a society are okay. Mr Axglide, please note that you can never fully police everyone that litters in a society, even in advanced countries, well may China with their AI face tracking and cameras everywhere, but in general you aren't going to catch all the people that litter. The difference between a modern society and an archaic one it that, when you cover gutters and put filters on them, the litter would not get into the drainage system. |

Imagine your bathroom sink had no strain filter and the drainhole got widened by 500% Don't you think, even by mistake, things would fall into that hole? Like your toothbrush, toothpaste, gunk... and clog the exit water pipe? See how your sinks don't get clogged because of a tiny hole and strain filter that prevent solid objects from entering and clogging the drain pipe. WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO COMPREHEND FOR NIGERIANS? Instead, you want to start demolishing every home you can find, chai 6 Likes

babasolution: Honestly it seems all tribes, all Nigerians have a long way to go. I just don't understand how a lot of Nigerians, Lagosians especially can't understand that with drainages like these, there will be flood. They leave easy solutions, like clearing and covering gutters and providing gutter filters, and go straight to "lets demolish homes"

Exousiang01: Climate Change ba? Not OPEN GUTTERs on EVERY LAGOS STREET? But why do Nigerians love living in denial? See what drainage in Lagos looks like, and you think the smallest of rains won't cause flood? Imagine if you had storms like America? Hurricanes, Tornadoes... Won't Lagos be buried?

Common sense is indeed not common in Nigeria. Cause how are Nigerians cheering on destruction of other Nigerias homes, because of tribe, yet neglecting OPEN GUTTERs Like Job in the bible, I know, I pray, I plead to, my God, that those that lost homes due to wickedness of citizens and government, get multiple of what they had, for God will wipe away your tears, while the wicked continue to groan. Tribal bigots would not ask government to build CLOSED GUTTERS, instead of OPEN GUTTERS that lead nowhere Demonic bigots like Helinues will come here and scream destroy IGBOs property. Meeeen, I thank God every day for his grace and love, cause I would never want to be as wicked as some of these Bigots that rejoice at the suffering and tears of others. Thank you, Jesus. As much as I hate them, I will also pray for forgiveness that their souls do not perish. See images of so called "Drainage" in Lagos, but they would leave that on every street and like demons, start roaming about looking for homes of the innocent to destroy. 1 Like

People vote and support Demons all the time, then will turn around to say, even Jesus can't save Nigeria, or restructure or whatever. Imagine going from coup plotter to certificate forger then you now say "Not even Jesus can...", you never even consider that first class guy from Harvard, or that 2-2 guy from Unilag that built businesses, or that Doctor that saved countless lives, not even the lowly guy with a moderate educational record but with numerous accomplishments and meekness of spirit....noooo, na JESUS dem go straight after supporting demons, begin dey talk say, Jesus no go fit work, mtcheew, imbeciles and hyprocrites. |

Revealpanda: Men I have so many questions for Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, cause like, why am I a Nigerian? Okay why are Nigerians this way? Okay why are our politicians so wicked? Imagine these two foreigners in the pic below. If they came for tourism, do you think they will EVER come back? Of course it's different if the came for project money, cause money will make a man endure stress. How can even the most expensive parts of a country have OPEN gutters like this, like wide open yansh for the whole world to see. THEN SOME WILL SAY, OUR GOVERNEMENT IS WORKIING It breaks my heart bro. Nigerias problems can be so easily solved, STREET BY STREET. Operation close all gutters, and the streets would already look 50% better. Imagine having a nice living room with decent furnishing, then you place big buckets of shhhit at all the corners of the living room, then invite guests over. Would those guests ever want to come back to your house after seeing the buckets of shhhit you so proudly display?

It makes me cry sometimes, cause it seems Naija don make eternal pact with backwardness, but I break it Jesus name, amen! This is like madness, yet this is what you see in Lekki, V.I, Ikoyi, not to talk of Oshodi, Festac... God, please. Close gutter, or underground drainage, or closed piped drainage... nothing. Government go just dig hole, and citizens will be happy and be saying don't fill the whole with garbage, oh my Lord. |
