I have read Gadogado's rebuttals and can't seem to understand his insistence on not changing the rule or moving the zoning/rotationdepending on who you plan on deceiving goal post mid way but has evasively refused to answer the question of a change from regions contributing to the centre during the groundnut era to the centre taking charge of allotment upon the discovery of oil On a personal level I find it disturbing when educated folks would rather champion ethnicity rather than competencein matters of leadership on the basis of prevailing realitiesI think more about the fear of change than anything. So instead of sensitizing people around one to vote for a competent Buhari or have a Tunde Bakare lead us for example the admonishment is all for zoning based on ethno-religious sentiments . I couldn't help but realise upon reading 8 pages that what binds us is thin & stretching and sooner will give way. Hurting Igbos, dissatisfied and harbouring deep-seated grudge are waiting to move on yet none to pacify them of injustices meted out before & after 66, and continues till date. Then there's the case of the niger deltan, he sees his resources being controlled by another whose authority he is prevented from determining. He sees profligacy by another, the arbiter of his estate-his grieviance just like his Igbo neighbour is real, near and present. Besides, there's the Hausa-fulani, the man in whose hands susbsist power to give and to take back for over 30 years in a period of 44 years! It is sad that the coming voting exercise has already the denouement of power capturing instead of nation building through servicewe need more than ever to talk the way we desire to live together. A system in which few progress against the many is bound to elicit anger and violent change down the road. |

It may appear insignificant against the might of would-be riggers of (s)election but let history record your part that in such a moment you stood up, did something against oppression and sided with positive change. This should be the spirit and the attitude we take to the polls. |
History is a beautiful thing but more often than not it is written by the victors, people who have hanged ''heroes''. In this story, our story, the Nigerian story I strongly doubt if the actors were alive today the true motive of their actions would have been told. It is why we haven't healed and continue to haemorrhage of distrust. Babangida is alive and hearty yet has refused to tell us why he annuled the election of 93, instead disjointed and made-up stories filter through as the reason for annulment. Someday he'll pass on and another chapter will then be made public. I prefer we talk now, civily and dissect matters of common interest, to decide wether to continue as one or go our separate ways. Whatever anybody says here, the motive of each actor died with them. Wether Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba, even Niger delta, we all must know now that the strings that bind us are at their pressured threshold. |
For me, there are 33 men trapped 700m underneath a mine in Chile who may never earn a quarter of Wazza's annual pay in their lifetime!Things should be kept in perspective. |

Comedy of errors by clowns, men of deceit their hype they believe Atiku, IBB even JEG; different names, same clowns-bunch of shadow chasers |
lol, karma maybe slow but it is sure to come. Atiku is an embodiment of greed, the disease of the ''big'' and powerful but visionless group that has plagued and stagnated our development. Make im carry dem go Hague if im like as u make your bed Atiku--- |
koko_oro:The Listeners' ears hear this message whose messenger has the power to effect the message! We know and have solutions to what we desire as a nation, the problem has never been the message but the bringers whose cumulative greed continue to prevail over the common good sought by the message! |
Good debating spirit. subconscioulsy we are at that crossroads when something must give as a people. Naturally the right to survive and instinctively well takes preceedence with every racenot a black or nigerian thingand people tend towards comfort if available even if expensive. But there's a truth to the other side of the story albeit a Nigerian one, that our land of birth will never be developed by another but us. While we've gone out and progressed our brilliance in hinterlands can only mask our ability to reproduce same success back home for so long. There's a part of every diasporan that seek that change which brings success but the price is steep and wrapped in the fear of the unknown. Like I said we are at that crossraods where we'll have sacrifice to effect change or continue in comfort and our land remain desolate and in the grip of a thieving few. Make we think. |
^^^ Ajanlekoko, bros true talk. Impunity abounds for them that are at the corridors of power to hold at a time until it becomes evident the end is near and a purpose to life's meaning therefrom eagerly sought. persin wey wan help you repair your car shock first dig swallowing hole say make u drive enter come out from the other end before e go fix your shock . The thing about life is that we all get to that point where a pause is needed and our conscience get pricked albiet momentarily, the picture of the many suffering become plastered in our memory and we fight the other ill-will not to change, that part which subsconscioulsy we made dead in the pursuit of our greed. Obasanjo somehow missed death rumours have it, that's the reason we have this recent people-centered thoughts prevailing and chocking his brain, e go pass and things go return to normal. |
What remains Mr. Obasanjo is to gather your friends and associates, cronies who have plundered our commonwealth since 1960 and have them plough back same into developing our poor infrastructure back home. Trust between the governed and the governor has eroded over time and at this crossroads we are talking while keeping looted funds in same capitalist countries won't count for much am afraid. It is doublespeak to harp about exploitation by the West while resisting or propounding measures that keep the very weak in within us at the mercy of the capitalist! Obasanjo, na action we need! Walk the talk, get your friends to give back majority of the equity they own in the private companies you sold to yourselvesabi dat wan no b capitalist move? ; when that is done we surely won't have individuals who are more powerful than the state! Imagine a country where one man is the sole importer of diesel and a known crony of obasanjo, abegi, this whole thing sounds like---( readers make una make am up ) |

olulu:The original version was a call to attention of wars and tribulations in his native land Somalia. As an exiled poet he sought to draw attention to this inhumanity happening in his beloved country through the might of his pen, Coca Cola did notice but opted not to spotlight the hardship of Somalians but rather exploit the commerce angle of the song by changing the lyrical content to reflect their world cup campaign. So while many people know the lyrical content of the revised song it is doubtful if they've ever heard of the original. I think of how many people who would have heard about Somalia through the original version of the song and wonder if it wasn't an opportunity lost in the bid for commercialisation. It's like tweaking the anthem of a nation for commercial gain, just my thought. |
The zoning argument has been anything but objective. It is only a short-term measure to address a crippling ethnocentric society like Nigeria. The long-term measure remains devolution of powers and true federalism, which for reasons of Sweet-Bonny-light , no one is eager to discuss. The zoning debate has been deliberately contrived to suggest that Nigeria’s corporate existence and need for equity, justice and fair play started in 1999 when some Northerners constantly try to remind us about their magnanimity in conceding power to the South-West. Nothing could be more emotionally sapping and challenging than this claim. |
honeric01:Thanx bro. cjfavour:The spirit of our people must be in our belief for a common change that frees the most who are weak within us. Yes, we must rebuild, but only if we believe we can irrespective of tribe and affiliation, otherwise healing won't come; we've longed so much in mediocirty amidst excellence. For me I see only challenge in the current Xenophobia being spread against Nigerians wherever, cos when we can't run elswhere we'll consider fixing that which is broken but still ours. First we must begin to DEMANDno time to fear death, cos we've been dying albeit slowly and be willing to pay the price for change to happen. This is my land, GREEN! all year round and nobody's gonna better it for me. |
t'is hardwork time I have decided to stay here and not to abandon this throne i call home though this striving maybe hard and ignorant people find their kind when they diss I wave my green-white-green higher cos nothing can break my strong will I will work to soar repping for 9ja wherever I go so I call on you cos dem no fit break us let's get together and fight this stereotype reign standing together one strong house to build cos it is time for our victory, to unite, and to find inspiration in the aspersions of the Xenos. Time to work people, real hardwork. To build this nation on a foundation that will stand, brick-by-brick, where tribe is irrelevant and merit takes leeway for the coming generation. So look at their aspersions and be motivated. Be inspired for once, let's start with the coming poll to forge a nation we can be proud of, one 9ja! Love ya'll. |
When a diss a baba, I ain't talking about Ethiopia Modenine slaying you know who |
From ( original Version, aspiration) When I get older, I will be stronger They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag When I get older, I will be stronger They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag And then it goes back And then it goes back And then it goes back Born to a throne, stronger then Rome A violent prone, poor people zone But it’s my home, all I have known Where I got grown, streets we would roam Out of the darkness, I came the farthest Among the hardest survivors Learn from these streets, it can be bleak Except no defeat, surrender, retreat So we strugglin’, fightin’ to eat And we wonderin’, when we’ll be free So we patiently wait for that fateful day It’s not far away, but for now we say… So many wars, settlin’ scores Bringin’ us promises, leavin’ us poor I heard ‘em say, love is the way Love is the answer, that’s what they say But look how they treat us Make us believers, we fight their battles Then they deceive us Tried to control us, they couldn’t hold us Cuz we just moved forward like Buffalo Soldiers But we strugglin’, fightin’ to eat And we wonderin’, when we’ll be free So we patiently wait for that fateful day It’s not far away, but for now we say… To ( Commercial version, ''Coked'' version if you will Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher See the champions, take the field now, unify us, make us feel proud In the streets our head are liftin’, as we lose our inhibition, Celebration it surrounds us, every nations, all around us Singin forever young, singin songs underneath that sun Lets rejoice in the beautifull game. And together at the end of the day. WE ALL SAY When I get older I will be stronger They’ll call me freedom Just like a wavin’ flag … Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher See the champions, take the field now, unify us, make us feel proud In the streets our head are liftin’, as we lose our inhibition, Celebration, it surrounds us, every nation, all around us Singin’ forever young, singin’ songs underneath that sun Lets rejoice in the beautifull game. And how did he Obasanjo try to win their assent for his botched 3rd term agenda? Yeah, you're right. Pot, kettle and black comes to mind. All these to pave way for his daughter to become governor of Ogun state ![]() |
@ Topic, The pillaging of Nigeria is no respecter of tribe or ethnicity. Champions of IBB's presidency are people who feel that they cant be relevant until some premordial sentiment is brought into the equation. Why would someone even mootedly try to sell IBB to the Nigerian electorate on this forum having experienced where we are coming from? How can we begin to forgive a man who's yet to admit his previous misadventures, mr. Danladi? I no blame u, if only the people can for once just rise like the REDs of Thailand<sighs> and crush every pillager from the past and present ![]() |
On one hand Mr Danladi says ", All I am saying is that no one can lay claim to the position of president until after the election and as I see it, it will be too close to call. and then we have him in the headed quote as '' Zoning Or Not, Ibb’ll Be President If as he posited none can lay claim to the presidency until after election how come IBB can before the same election yet to be held be president with or without zoning? Sound much like a confused Babangida zealot |
In his recent speak IBB has become endangered of being a good man, he's seen the end to his life and fighting hard to draw a purpose from it. But there's just that one moment for a good percentage of us hereon, if we failed we never get a second chance no matter how hard we strive. It just shows you there are things money cannot buy-an eduring spirit of uprightness, the one that sides with the people against the wishes of a collective few. Our ancestors before the 1900s, we ask for your guidiance, watch over us in this moment of peril so that in 2011 we can smile back at a man who took more time in honouring himself than serving the weak. |

Why would someone even mootedly try to sell IBB to the Nigerian electorate on this forum having experienced where we are coming from? It is my belief that IBB et al have notched it further by infiltrating our ranks with paid anti-people bloggers whose only job is to offend our already battered pysche or how else can we begin to forgive a man who's yet to admit his previous misadventures? |
Expectedly! Even Hitler will if he were alive. |
Expectedly. Now the company should endeavour to develope quality content herefrom and prepare itself for future EPL bid. Nigerians will patronise quality irrespective of ownership. The whole saga has been a good lesson of how not to build from a weak foundation. I hope other Nigerian companies in similar situation have taken a cue. |
The story of our lot. People, seated. Herds of them, their frown cold the insignia of long deprivation 50 years of worthless toil most pray but relief seem far closed eyes envisioning long survival roads fraught with daily economic harmattan dusty winds hovering over their hope blown at them by the ineptly corrupt the few in whose bowel they all lie whose crumbs they feed from, surviving just so they see another day tomorrow, which they hope will be better than yesterday I fear for my country, Nigeria I fear she may not survive after the coming harmattan 'cos the different FEW are gathering North, East, West and South of her borders I could hear whispers of sobering disquiet the gathering FEW of the ill at ease each seeking to protect its region in defiance of the Compatriot's call to build a nation, where peace and justice reigns |
