Oga go and sit down.

There's currently no country that's more developed than china, but fools just like arguing, why? Why argue obvious truth? Love for the white? Love for western media?
shut up , if china is 83 million by size , nobody will even talk about it as we are talking about it now. Australia of 23 million size will be richer and far bigger with a robust economy. China is a developing country. Comparing Germany with china is like comparing iphone and infinix

I think he is talking infrastructurally. To me Chima is more developed infrastructurally than any western nation .
not true unless you are very specific .

Street and Bridges - Germany

Power network - Germany

Internet - par or probably Germany

High rise building - china

You just have to be specific for you to conclude on the infrastructure. Well by size , it is absolutely china

Reno Omokri has revealed that looking after in-laws is not a man’s responsibility.

He said the fastest route to pov£rty is marrying a woman who believes her family is also your responsibility. From time to time, you can help only if you can afford it. But, accepting a duty to look after in-laws is not responsibility. It is stupity! Any girl with that type of mentality is a liability. And her family will result in your instability,

I wouldn't call them stadiums though

The Legon stadium is part of the facilities being prepared for the Games.

This government couldn't have sense to expand nor roof the stadium for the games sad undecided it looks so basic and ordinary
mahama has a luxury taste, it would have been difference in his case.

Six new stadium ready to be commissioned next week.

The govt should try and support Legon for her stadium. Her stadium probably may be the best in Ghana

UK is more developed than China. I haven't visited China but I have visited UK and gone around.
Yes UK has poverty and some problems but like Germany, standard of living is high on the average.
China is not yet termed a developed country overall but they are definitely getting there.
Go to north London , you will see african style of leaving immediately. Pls take away Germany from there. There is no single slum in germany. The only thing UK has over Germany is English language . Simple as it is .

The most developed country in europe is Germany . China don't come close at all. Talk about japan pls

That's what we were talking about in another thread. This "I have outgrown my friends mentality" we have in naija and west Africa in general.

Anyway, we could consider that people leave slums when they become more financially stable because it's not a healthy environment to raise kids in. It's even risky for adults.

Generally speaking, we don't have this "give back to society" mentality like west folks have. Instead, we have a more "giving to showoff" kind of mentality. As we see among our artists and politicians. Its nothing intentional, just "i don arrive."
People's leaving in slum didn't force themselves there , social economic condition of the society warrant it . Even in the UK , not all africans can afford the life styles of the white . How many nigerians , Ghanaian are leaving in west end or trasvegas square ? You will see them in pecham, woolish etc it is because that is what they can afford .

Another very interesting thing that may surprise you , some people can actually afford the lives styles of west end but they prefer to live with their people. So you see their own very environment changing .it is in Ghana, the same Nima that is considered ghetto also houses the porched building of the president.

I once saw a fenced and well gated house in a ghetto before . They are many factors to it

I think kenya gov's approach to eradicating slum is the most practical way. Nothing more or nothing less.

Unless, there's some form of intervention by the government through provision of mass low cost housing, while forcefully evicting slum dwellers away from their lands, slums in our spaces won't cease to exist.

Living in slums sometimes isn't all about lack of economic freedom but rather human nature of being rigid to change.

It will surprise you that some people who owns properties in choice locations of the city still remain in their previous slum areas for reasons best known to them.

Extra:
It is a trend that i have found in most places across West Africa. Someone who owns shops with warehouse in idumota be living in one dilapidated building in nearby Apogbon, while collecting rent from his apartments in lekki.

Go to Accra you still find the same with traders who control chunk of the informal sectors living back in Nima while having properties in East legon and other choice areas.

In Abidjan too,the same trend still applies.
There is what we called support system, why should I leave my beautiful family in makoko area of lagos and go stay alone in ikoyi island ? Just because I have arrived .some people don't care.

It is the same thing , improved the general leaving condition of the people and in your own very eyes slum will be eradicated. Nima in Ghana is an example of this fact . Infact some part of Nima residence are well porched than many eye brow area that you may know. The president even leaves there.

Have you seen where the cheif imam of Ghana leave ? I can bet you , he can leave in airport residence if he want .

Who told you poor people deserves to live in deplorable slum.

Kenya when Brits was rulling all the way until IMF SAP of late 80s and 90s had no major slums.

You know what - gov was building houses for lower income people - and they'd be rented to them cheaply.

Now we are going back to building at huge scales houses for lower and lower middle class so they stop living in deplorable slums.

In meantime almost every west africa city is turning into MEGA SLUMSPOLIS - informal housing is 99% how you're building.

Until you return large scale housing projects that build cheap but decent houses - preferably vertically - you will live in that mixed up mess of a slum called Accra.

Nairobi in meantime is scaling the heights and fixing housing deficit.
You only need to go back to School.

If we should go strictly by slum definition, more than 80 percent of Nairobi will be tagged slum . Poor planning , lack of adequate water supply , bad road . Bad Sewage, unconventional motor parking space etc.

What causes slums are mainly poverty, the people migration . Particularly unskilled worker's , the more unskilled worker's in your community , the likely they lived in slums.

Once you work on the living conditions of the people , you will not only stop the frequent migration of people from village to the city , you will also increased the social economic condition of the people. ( It is lack of adequate opportunity that leads to migration and it is migration that the city can't contain that leads to slums . So kill the roots and not it's branches .

Kibera slums soon to disappear

Kibera Soweto B. 4054 units under construction. Since we started slum upgrading in 2002 we had only done 822 units. Successive governments have promised to eradicate slums, they haven’t.

Loading in Kibra, Halal City on 283acres Nubian land.
so where we the majority poor Kenyan leave.

Your govt still don't get it. Nobody prefer slums , economic condition warrant it . Improved the living conditions of the people and you will see slum turning to paradise right in your own eyes . The people are capable of doing it theirself . Taking their land from them will not solve it , another slums will be extablished somewhere again in Nairobi .

NIGERIAN YAM MARKET

ZAKI BIAM IS THE BIGGEST YAM MARKET IN THE WORLD WHERE OVER 2 MILLION TUBERS OF YAM ARE SOLD WEEKLY?

So where is Zaki Biam:
Zaki Biam, in the Ukum LGA of Benue State and has been described as the place with the biggest yam market in the world.

Nigeria is by far the largest producer of yams, accounting for over 70–76 % of the world’s production.

According to a Food and Agricultural Organization @FAO report, Nigeria averagely produces 18.3 MT of yam annually from 1.5 million hectares, representing 73.8 % of total yam production in Africa.

According to Tiv People, a blog focused on the Tivoid ethnic group mainly found in Benue state, over 2 million yam tubers are sold weekly at the market.

This market is a Hub for yam trade and a cultural and economic centre.

The market is said to have gained international recognition for its significant contribution to the yam industry and attracts buyers and sellers from all around Nigeria, Africa and the world.

“The market’s reputation for quality and quantity has made it a preferred destination for traders, exporters, and customers interested in purchasing yams in bulk.

“As you visit this market, you will witness a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Traders, farmers, and vendors engage in enthusiastic bargaining and negotiation.

“The market provides a showcase of different yam varieties, sizes, and qualities, ensuring that customers have a wide range of options to choose from,” the blog stated.

In June 2020, the FGN inaugurated a yam storage facility in Zaki Biam to store up to 200,000 tubers of yam.

The then vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, did the inauguration and explained that the market has few storage facilities, hence the storage facility’s construction.

A huge chunk of the 2 million tubers of yam sold weekly from the market in Benue state and are transported through this market located in the bustling, nostalgic, town of Zaki Biam in Ukum local government area. Between 120 and 200 truck loads of yams depart from this market on a daily basis. The yams come from various farmlands around Zaki Biam and Ukum as well as neighbouring Katsina Ala Local Government.

Copied
it is unfortunate Ghana export more yam abroad than Nigeria despite Nigeria larger output . Nigeria needs to work on quality assurance

it means an increase in productivity and a smart move. It also means a new stream of jobs

The biggest challenge will be to make sure that businesses do not take the benefits without increasing productivity (fraud).

The second challenge will be how to open new markets for export opportunities.
I think security and technology will rather be the biggest challenge, even in the current 8 hour economy will operate now , there is risks on some buisness particularly in the financial services, we also have issues with the use of local old fashioned of growing farm crops and legumes assuming, we want to involve agriculture into this operation

If the above challenge can be tacked reluctantly, I see it addressing unemployment. More wages/ and high employment usually comes with high productivity.
