ajepako: That's APC legacy especially in Lagos
I drove around obalende last week and l couldn't but shed tears for my dear state
It's like everybody and l mean everybody is now agbero or ticket collector
From grandfathers to fathers to grandsons including women
It's a far cry from the Lagos we were raised in , in the 80s
Shomolu, Fadeyi, Mushin, Onipanu, lyana Oworo, Bariga, Ketu and Ebute meta are even worse
Agberoism seems to have become the ambition of an average school drop out and it won't become a societal menace if government is not actively or subtly involved
Asking around, l was told these school drop outs and miscreants are allocated hoods, tarmacs and spots in strategic suburbs to collect levies and taxes as rewards for their political loyalty, thuggery and disruptive behavior during elections..
Politicians don't reward them with education to improve their lives or decent jobs to be useful in the society but as ticket collectors on the streets while their own progenies study abroad and fill top vacancies in Alausa
Olorun a saanu wa Almost all new enthroned kings in Lagos are Agbero chairmen, Traditional monarchial lineage has been altered for touts. Presently in Lagos you can't become anything without bowing to one man. The Feudalistic system that has been imposed in the south west should worry Yorubas. |

Igbo are the people that need to focus on human development, na all those things Yoruba use senior you... OSU feeling funky, nothing eye no go see... What do you understand by human development? Since you don't, lemme give you small example. The first bike below is sold for 350k to 400k, it's the lowest status standard you can get in Igbo land, commonly used by average persons and women and It's very common in villages. The second picture is a common among our mothers in our hometowns, it's sells between 500k to 600k. Now how many percentage of women or villagers in Osun villages can afford this bike? Igbos have far more superior HDI and purchasing power than where you come from.

From agbara industrial area to Sagamu from Ogijo to Otta.... I can categorically state that Nnewi has almost same number of industries... Comparing Ogun to Aba is an insult to the later Even in Agbara how many Yorubas own factories there? I know of 3 huge factories in Agbara that is owned by Igbos, their products sells in neighboring countries. The rest industries are owned by indians, Chinese and Lebanese. Yorubas need to focus developing themselves HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. For the past 20 years Yoruba has been quietly sliding towards feudalism all thanks to one man. The truth is bitter. |

In fact ogun state have more manufacturing I dustries than Lagos state sef
What is aba I mean the entire igbo land I'll better be trading textile or making bags in Aba than to work in a factory where I'll be paid 30k a month. Can you compare HDI or purchasing power between Abia indigenes and Ogun state? Even roads in Agbara that those industries are located are in deplorable states. So what are you bragging about? |
Politics › Re: Despite Huge Revenue, Lagos Local Councils Underperform, Worsen Residents’ Pains by Vboot1: 8:37pm On Jul 14, 2023 |
Penguin2: A drive through Lagos will leave the picture of dilapidated infrastructure before you.
Is it the expressway from Ojota to Costain that now has collapsed portions that a simple patchwork could have solved?
Is it the the road to Ogombo from Abraham Adesanya that has totally collapsed and spills traffic to Abraham Adesanya roundabout?
Is it the abandoned project at VGC that left bad portions of road there that causes massive traffic and loss of productive hours?
Is it the construction of Awoyaya to Abraham Adesanya section of the Lekki-Epe Expressway that is moving at the speed of snail which has made a trip that should have been 10 minutes to run into 3 hours sometimes?
Or is the total collapse of infrastructure in Idumota Market with flood almost taking over some section of the market without government lifting a finger?
Or is it the fact that no inner streets roads has been constructed anywhere in Lagos in the past four years?
These things leaves you wondering, “what is Lagos really doing with its huge revenue”?
Again, one can’t help but wonder, if smaller and poorer states like Ebonyi, etc, can build infrastructures without putting it back on the residents in the name of tolls, why does Lagos keep concessioning major infrastructural projects like roads, bridges, to private entities who use their money to build these projects and resort to daily taxing of residents in the name of tolls in order to recoup their investment?
https://guardian.ng/news/despite-huge-revenue-lagos-local-councils-underperform-worsen-residents-pains/ Even the "almighty" island is nothing to write home about. From Awoyaya to VGC is hell, you'll probably spend 2-3 plying that route. Lagos with the huge igr shouldn't be in this mess. After visitin Lome and Accra, I come to realize that Nigeria is a mess, our standard is so fucking low. |

Why u no develop your igr to compete with Lagos, na me be your governor?? Don't even try to run away..
OSU I no be Yoruba, but dem senior you... E dey glaring... Lagos should be compared with Accra, Jo'burg, Kigali, Darkar. Lagos with huge igr ought to be clean city with workable public amenities, but can Lagos compete with Lome or Kigali aside the huge igr. Huge igr that doesn't reflect on the city or the life of lagosians. I was in Lome last year and I was impressed with what I saw. Lagos is an eyesore compared to most cities in Africa. |

The Federal Inland Revenue Service has announced its plan to collect and remit Value Added Tax (VAT) from traders, especially those in the informal sector. This will be achieved in partnership with the Market Traders Association of Nigeria (MATAN) using a unified systems technology, the FIRS said in a statement on Monday. Is it not suspect, that the FIRS is partnering with a Union that uses a $50 Wordpress website, to build a digital platform that collects taxes from Nigerians further investigation on Twitter reveals MATAN grand patron is Tinubu's mother. An article from the Tribune that was published last year. It clearly states that this same scam union was used to distribute trader moni, and was founded by Tinubu’s mom. https://tribuneonlineng.com/nigerian-traders-decry-multiple-taxation/Is this a Lagos style state capture?

Having keenly observe events as they are unfolding I have a feeling that the current Mmesoma Ejikeme’s alleged Jamb forgery case may be connected to the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Obi and LP are challenging the declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the election on ground of electoral irregularities and certificate forgery of Bola Tinubu.
If Jamb could quickly investigate and disqualify Mmesoma Ejikeme’s then why couldn't INEC investigate and disqualify defaulting candidates.

Politics › Electricity Tariffs To Rise By 25% In December by Vboot1(op): 11:45am On Jun 19, 2023 |
Electricity prices in Nigeria are expected to rise following the unification of the naira which has led to the depreciation of the naira at the investor and exporter window. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently made an announcement regarding the unification of all segments of Nigeria’s forex market, consolidating all windows into one. This new system will allow market forces, such as supply and demand, to play a significant role in determining the exchange rate. These changes were implemented as part of a broader effort to enhance liquidity and stability in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange (FX) Market. Under the new policy, all transactions will be conducted through the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window, where the exchange rate will be determined by market forces. Electricity Tariffs and Unification of Exchange Rates However, the unification of the exchange rate may also have an impact on electricity tariffs in the country. Experts in the electricity sector suggest that Nigerians can anticipate an increase in electricity tariffs soon when a minor review is conducted in December. https://nairametrics.com/2023/06/19/unified-fx-rates-electricity-tariffs-to-rise-by-25-in-december-experts/
