The longest word in the world is actually the name of a certain ORGANIC CHEMICAL COMPOUND.

It is so long that it is practically unprintable (at least, by hand).

Most other "longest word" titles you may come across are merely runners up. They are by far NOT the longest words, including this one.

The two air force may not be comparable in terms of fleet,Russia has more jets.Israel's remodeling of its jets has won it a spot that can contest with any Russian jet, they change the systems and software with improved ones yearly and Israel is no kid when it comes to technology, they have one of the best in the world.

Russia's status only guarantees it an upper hand against Israel but it doesn't guarantee it victory. That can only be answered the day jets from both country find themselves in the hot spot of the skies, till then it remains a mistake to say Israel can't take on Russian jets.
Could Israel take on American or French jets? If your answer is NO, then you have no idea about Russian military capabilities.

First, you admit that Israel buys American jets (F-16 Falcons, F-15 Eagles) and updates/upgrades them with Israeli avionics, yet you don't think that's not enough to make them still inferior to Russia? I laugh.

Send the ENTIRE Israeli Air Force (F-16s, F-15s etc) to battle against a bunch of Su-35 supermaneouverable "Super Flankers", and you'd have a suicide mission on your hands. Even the Su-30 or MiG-35 will give them a very hard beating

Are you aware that the fastest cruise missile in existence is Russian? It's called BrahMos. It's not just supersonic, it's hypersonic (capable of Mach 5+ speeds).

Are you aware that the Russian Sukhoi Su-35 is the most maneouverable fighter jet in the world? It's not called "supermaneouverable" for fancy.

You want to pitch a nation that buys fighter jets (Israel) against a nation that actually designs and manufactures some of the best jets by itself (Russia). Hahhahahahaaaha.

Whether in a dog-fight or in beyond-visual-range (BVR) engagement, Israeli jets will put up the best fight they could, but will eventually drop off the skies like flies.

By the way, Israel used to send it's jets into Syrian air space any how they liked. But just a few days ago, with the arrival of Russian jets in Syria, a pair of Israeli jets were forced to turn around and flee upon sighting a Russian Su-30 coming at them. Why did they run?

I'm just curious, how old are you? This comment tells me you're either being sarcastic or you're really, really, REALLY naive about that country called Russia.

I've been reading this thread from page 1, and some of the comments here show a deep level of ignorance about international politics and military capabilities, especially.

Anyone suggesting that Israel can take down Russian fighter jets is probably living on the moon, and feeding on news supplied strictly by BBC, CNN, Fox et al.

For your information, Russia is by far the second most powerful country in the world, after the United States. And even the US and NATO would have to deploy their entire military forces if they ever wish to take on (invade) Russia directly.

And they won't try it.

This is why the US -- along with Europe -- are using "soft power" against Russia over Ukraine, by taking advantage of their economic size (especially Europe) to impose sanctions on Russia.

Russia's entry into Syria is a serious game changer. Not only did they bring in some of the best fighter-bomber jets in existence (Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback), they also went in with the deadly Sukhoi Su-30SM a.k.a "Super-Flanker", which, in Indian hands recently defeated British Eurofighter Typhoons in a military drill between the Royal Air Force and the Indian Air Force.

You can google that fight if you want.

And Russia did not even bring the even more powerful Sukhoi Su-35 or the Mikoyan MiG-35 fighter jets.

The Israeli air force is powerful, no doubt. But their jets will RUN AWAY the moment they spot a Russian jet. The two militaries are NOT comparable. It's suicide for Israel.

Most people in this part of the world don't know much about Russia, and I think that's why such under-rating comments are posted around here. We hear so much about American power, and too little about Russian power.

It's understandable, though. Those who fail to read widely, are limited to the news they receive from western media mouth pieces.

And it is all full of rubbish against Russia.

The Mazda appears very new (look at the other headlight still intact and sparkling). Airbags deployed but were punctured. Driver side wheel completely gone (is that a control rod I see hanging freely?). Very high speed impact I believe, with lots of tumbling. Tragic. cry

That is rubbish! It is naive to believe these things are driven purely by market forces. For years and years Russia which has 100s of billions of dollars in reserves was rated as a greater credit risk than Greece, the rest is history.
Yes short term speculative capital will dry up but in reality we do not need such capital. The fundamentals in Nigeria for the long term are good and that is what we should focus on. A large population, energy and natural resource rich with good water resources. If we succumb to a regime that allows people to move money in and out as they please we might as well sell the country.
America's debt to GDP ratio is shambolic but is still rated as credit worthy ,Why? America is doing the rating.

The case of Nigeria now is like that of the goat. The Yoruba say the goat always returns from the market guilty ,no matter how many retrials you have .
All we need to drive our economy is to return the stolen money.

Look at what Dangote is doing across Africa, No European investor will do that no matter how much you dance to their tune. It is a shame that many of our so called elite are incapable of independent thinking and think like undergraduates who have READ textbooks very well and believe everything they read in this books. What we need to look at is those non-Western Nations that have been in our position before ,how many of them have swallowed this prescription and prospered?
Looking at the bolded statement up there, you failed to tell us what "years and years" in particular. Did you mean the post-Soviet Russia of 1992-1999 (serious economic crisis) or the post 1999 Russian boom which enjoyed a massive 7 - 8% annual economic growth rate consistently for nearly a decade, seeing real average incomes increase by an order of 14, and jumping back into the top 10 economies in world?

I don't think so.

Greece's being in the EU did not and does not automatically make it a heavenly investment destination.

I have two graphs here showing the GDP growth trajectories of both Russia and Greece from 1991. For Russia, can you see the first period of 1991-1999 I earlier mentioned where Russia was in crisis following the break up of the Soviet Union? Look at the superlative recovery that followed from 1999/2000. How does Greece compare in the second graph (GDP figures are the blue bars)? Hardly a contest.

NB: Don't forget that Greece doctored their economic / fiscal figures in order to gain admission into the European Union. That deception is part of why they are suffering extra hard today under crushing debt. Imagine a tiny economy like Greece hosting the Olympic games in 2000, mostly on borrowed money, while being the least productive country in the world on an hour for hour basis. Ever wondered why every body in Europe has been unusually hard on Greece since this crisis they're in began?

Let all those without genuine interest in Nigeria leave, if they so choose....

True investors would stay. People that believe in the country would invest.

There is an adage that says 'Until you fall, you don't know who your true friend is'...
Friend, investment is not by sentiments or friendship or patriotism. If a place (country) is favourable for investments, people (investors) will find their way to you. That's what investment advisory companies exist for. And they are constantly keeping tabs on every country's fiscal, political, monetary, economic and environmental situation and decisions, weighing their effects on each country's investment climate according to a highly sophisticated algorithm.

They "sell" their findings (highly educated predictions) to clients the world over (e.g. hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds, private investors etc etc) who look up to them for timely information.

For example, if you, as a Nigerian, had N1 billion naira deposit balance in a particular Nigerian bank, and then you hear (somehow) that that bank will collapse in a month's time, what would you do? Keep your money there to "help them get through the crisis" or HURRY LIKE CRAZY to get your account manager to suck out every last kobo you have there. Now imagine people (foreigners) who have BILLIONS (in dollars) invested.

Nigeria's delisting from the JP Morgan index has its consequencies. Global financial/investment advisory companies/consultants must have alerted all their investor-clients accordingly on the right steps to take following this anticipated delisting (announced since January 2015). What do you think ratings agencies like Standard & Poors, Fitch and Moody's are doing? How about consulting firms like McKinsey, Accenture and the myriad heavy-weights in the financial services sector? They are all constantly monitoring the pulse and blood pressure of each and every country in the world (tracking their political/fiscal/monetary/economic decisions), and using their information to advise their investor-clients regularly!

If your village is the best place on earth to invest, Warren Buffet will waste no time in channelling billions of dollars in that direction. Investment is not by "those who love Nigeria will stay, those who don't love Nigeria will leave". Investors are not begging you. They never were. If you crash your stock market, or evaporate investor confidence somehow, get ready to stand by and watch billions of dollars check out of your economy on per second billing.

Welcome to the 21st Century.

FoodRe: A Big Snake Killed In My Compound Today (PIX) by VeeBabs(m): 12:50pm On Sep 05, 2015
This is an adult Rock Python, Africa's largest snake and one of the six largest snake species in the world (along with the
green anaconda, reticulated python , Burmese python, Indian python , and amethystine python ), specimens may approach or exceed 6 m (20 ft).

Like all boas, they are not venomous. They kill their prey by constriction. However, contrary to popular belief, their killing mechanism is not by "tight squeezing until it dies".

Actually, what they do is wrap their long, muscular bodies around the prey (e.g. a dog, goat, antelope or YOU) and each time the animal exhales, the snake would tighten the noose a little more, further reducing the animal's thoracic (chest) volume available for another breath intake.

The animal then finds it progressively harder and harder to take in a full breath, as breathing gets shorter and shallower.

The python keeps doing this until the animal can no longer breath in. Death occurs my asphyxiation (lack of oxygen) and not by crushing force, as people widely believe.

What this means is that, you could survive a python's hold if you could wear/wrap your chest and ribs with a non-compressible "cage" or something like that, that will keep your chest open enough for breath intake.

Now, some animals can pretend to be dead, and stop breathing, so if the python lets go of its grip at this point, the animal would quickly run away. Therefore, pythons don't just wait until the animal can no longer breathe. They have the ability to sense the pulse (heart beat) of the prey, helping them better determine time of death, so as to let go and begin the swallowing process.

This "heart check" technique has been reportedly used by pythons against some crocodiles (who can hold their breaths very well).

So if a python is holding you (yes, I mean YOU) and you pretend to stop breathing (thinking you're smart), you would be fooling yourself. So long as your precious heart is still beating under its curled, sensitive grip, the snake's body, acting like a very long doctor's stethoscope, is telling it in real time that this stupid dude (you) is still alive.

It won't let go. Until you do.

But this is "just" a Rock Python. Pray that you don't ever encounter the Reticulated Python (longest snake on earth). You would probably die of FEAR before it even finishes wrapping you up like an Easter gift, or like Mega Plaza shawarma!

Rock python photos below... Note the yellowish back and whitish belly, similar to the photos the OP originally posted.

EducationRe: See Snake That Was Killed This Afternoon At The Front Of AAUA SENATE BUILDING by VeeBabs(m): 5:22pm On Sep 02, 2015
edward1984:
Scientists could make mistakes, but the Inland Taipan is considered the most venomous snake in the world, based on the median lethal dose value in mice, its venom, drop for drop, is by far the most toxic of any snake and it has the most toxic venom of any reptile when tested on human heart cell culture. Unlike most snakes, the Inland Taipan is a specialist mammal hunter so its venom is specially adapted to kill warm blooded species.
You are probably confusing my submission here. I NEVER SAID that the Gaboon Viper produces the most lethal/deadly venom of all snakes. I said that, of all snakes, the gaboon viper produces the highest VOLUME of venom in a single bite.

Actually the venom of the Gaboon Viper is NOT among the deadliest in the world, but it more than compensates for this by injecting it's prey with a FLOOD of venom (cytotoxins) when it strikes, and then holds on to the prey (with its huge fangs) until it succumbs. And that does the trick. Food is ready.

The Inland Taipan, on the other hand, delivers a much smaller volume of venom per bite than the gaboon viper, but that small amount of venom is extremely lethal (drop for drop).

So...

(1) Gaboon Viper = Highest quantity of venom.

(2) Inland Taipan = Most potent/lethal venom.

Quantity vs. Quality?
EducationRe: See Snake That Was Killed This Afternoon At The Front Of AAUA SENATE BUILDING by VeeBabs(m):
ABJDOT:
It was raining in Akungba,Ondo state. since morning, I went to senate building with of one my friend, which want to sign his clearance on getting there I saw some guys, trying to kill this big snake.
This is a Gaboon Viper, the heaviest member of the viperids, and also the snake with the longest fangs (2 inches long) and the highest venom yield in the world. That is, this snake delivers the highest volume of venom per bite of any snake in the world.

The snake is easy to recognise by the two small horns near its snout and by its unique markings/patterns (white dashed lines running along its back, similar to highway/street road lines) and unusually swollen "cheeks" on both sides of its head. Those "cheeks" are actually the extra-large salivary glands that produce the high amounts of venom the gaboon viper is known for. Really a mouthful.

A short but very heavy (dense) snake with a bad temper, you don't need to upset this snake before it strikes you. It attacks you with little provocation once you step within striking range. I've seen one before. Pure evil.

As for the severed head in the photos the OP originally posted above, I think I know exactly why they cut it off. Some people use freshly killed snake head AND tail for certain charms. Seriously. Ask around and you'll know. It appears to me from the photos that the snake is also missing a tiny bit of its tail, although it's not bleeding much.

So the next time you see someone rushing to decapitate a snake and also cut off its tail, you know what they PROBABLY have in mind.

LockDown69:
Meanwhile, his country's economy is in shambles and he's destroying food coming in from the U.S and many Russians are homeless with no food to eat.
The Russian economy is not in a shambles. The U.S. is not "sending" food to Russia. The food is contraband goods smuggled in from EU countries currently under Russian food import sanctions. Russians are not hungry and homeless. Seriously, you need to stop feeding fat on CNN's baby food.

At this time last year (late 2014), CNN was full of news about how the Russian ruble was "crumbling". Well, did you know that since January 2015, the Russian ruble has been the BEST PERFORMING CURRENCY in the world? I'm sure you didn't, perhaps because CNN didn't bother to tell you about that. It's all propaganda. Bad news gets reported repeatedly, while good news doesn't even make it to the studios.

France refused to deliver the Mistrals to Russia despite receiving full payment for the two ships, and even completed them 100%. But the same France recently signed arms deals with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and some other gulf states. Have you asked why the contradicting standards? In Saudi Arabia today, it is still illegal for a woman to drive a car, and women still cannot vote. To travel abroad, a Saudi woman must be physically accompanied by a male relative e.g. brother, father, husband, son etc. In 2014, Afghanistan passed a law forbidding a woman from stepping out of the house (e.g. to go to the market, or to go see a friend down the street) without her husband's or father's direct consent. In 2014!

So, why do they single out Russia for sanctions?

It is all anti-Russia propaganda orchestrated by the USA.

America and Russia are historic rivals since the pre-WW2 era. They only briefly worked together between 1939-1945 against a common enemy in Nazi Germany during WW2. Right after the war, they settled back into their old ideological rivalry: a "Cold War" that would go on for decades ending until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. But did it really end?

America has done much more harm to this world but always gets away from its atrocities partly because it has powerful friends that back it up (UK., France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia etc).

If it wasn't for Putin and Russia, America would have bombed and destroyed Syria two years ago.

The U.S. had already moved Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarines armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles into the Mediterranean within firing range of Syria. The U.K. had similarly deployed Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered attack submarines also armed with Tomahawks and positioned within firing range. U.S. F-16 fighter jets with the US 5th Fleet based in Bahrain were on standby, as were F/A-18 super-hornets, all ready to take off to bomb Syria on orders from the Pentagon/White House.

Putin had to send three warships into the Mediterranean to serve as a deterrent against the impending military assault on Damascus. French president Francois Hollande declared his readiness to participate in the war, only if the British and Americans would also go on with it as planned.

Thankfully, the British parliament refused to grant permission for the war, forcing PM David Cameron to pull out shamefully. With no British participation, Obama was disappointed so, to save face, he went to Congress to seek permission for war. A permit he REALLY DIDN'T NEED TO SEEK, AS HE ALREADY HAD EXECUTIVE POWERS TO WAGE A "LIMITED" WAR. Obama only went to Congress so that he may get himself an excuse to call off the attack on Syria. Well, like the UK Parliament, and much to Obama's relief, Congress also did not approve. And that was the end of their plans to destroy Syria (like Libya) and "mistakenly" kill Assad (like Gaddafi).

Vladimir Putin stood in their way!

It was this unexpected humiliation over Syria that probably led the West to stir up trouble in Ukraine a few months after, to get back at Russia. You can now see the game still playing out.

Malaysian Airlines flight MH-17 was shot down and they are blaming it on Putin. But one question that no one likes to talk about was that, when all other international airlines were redirecting their flights and avoiding the airspace over East Ukraine at the time, WHO PERMITTED FLIGHT MH-17 TO PASS THROUGH THAT WAR ZONE where heavy fighting was actively going on? East Ukraine airspace was under Ukrainian control. As I write this, the official Western narrative is always to Blame Russia.

Russia is the 9th largest economy in the world, by GDP nominal, and 6th largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). Russia has over $700 billion dollars in foreign reserves, with the largest oil+gas reserves, and a highly advanced scientific base and technological capabilities, not to mention having a very powerful military. There are MORE poor and homeless people in America that there are in Russia.

Since the year 2000, Russia's economic growth has seen average real income increase 14 times over their year 2000 levels. So, if you think Russians are suffering due to Western sanctions, you are reading the wrong news. Putin's approval ratings inside Russia have never been higher.

French farmers are protesting in the streets over the impact of Russia's food import ban (counter-sanctions) placed on France. Similar protests are happening in Germany, Poland, Austria and the Baltic states. Meanwhile, Russia is now sourcing its import fruits and vegetables from South America, India and China, and using import substitution to cover the others. CNN is not telling you all these right now because it's "good news" about Russia. And it's a taboo to discuss Russian good news. Just a few weeks ago, Russia delivered some RD-83 rocket engines to the US, and another batch has been ordered. Why does the US continue to buy Russian-made rocket engines for their space launches? CNN and the BBC don't report this matter very loud as they would a negative piece of news about Russia.

Just wait until something bad happens in Russia, you WILL hear it on CNN three times every news hour from Connect The World to Political Mann, and from Quest Means Business to Amanpour.

We should be more worried and concerned about what happens in, and affects, Nigeria. Forget these nuclear-armed world powers and their power plays. They've been at it since over a Century.

You must be joking, right? PYTHONS are regularly caught in Lekki. You need to see the size of one caught around Abraham Adesanya Estate a few months ago. Lekki still has native/virgin forests you know?

- For those making a big deal over the rat thing, can any of you (living in Lekki) confidently say that your environment is free of rats? Rodents are everywhere, my friend.

Even if YOU don't see the rats, don't forget 100 million years of evolution has engineered snakes into expert rat tracking and seeking machines.

Those slithering, long things know just how and where to find your friendly neighbourhood rats. Just pray that the "food chase" doesn't lead them snakes into your kitchen downstairs!

For Daniella Okeke, she's probably lucky this chase ended somewhere atop her fence.

But that snake is huge!

No dear, my dream car is Mercedes G-Wagon 2015 Model. I love G-wagon.
G-Wagon? That noisy uncomfortable box wey be like tin can? I cannot recount how many times I've hurt my knee in that box! undecided Accelerates powerfully though. That's like the most masculine of masculine rides. Strange that a lady would be drawn to a beast like that.

Beauty and the Beast thingy, I guess? undecided
