Nigeria, the giant of Africa is truly a fertile ground. It's just unfortunate that many of us living within cannot see the opportunities that are within. These other big guys knows how to get us and are doing it very well. This act now is going to increase Facebook's traffic from within the region by a large percentage.

Car TalkRe: Automatic Gearbox Problems by Vicben(m): 2:05pm On Sep 18, 2016
Good day auto geniuses,
I have a Toyota Corolla 2005 with 1ZZ engine and automatic transmission. Two days ago while driving home from work, I noticed that the car was revving high but the speed was not proportionate to the sound from the engine.

I slowed down and noticed there was a jerk from the drive shaft and a sudden change in the gear system. The car was stuck on gear two.

Now, the car doesn't move beyond gear three, it'll manage to get to gear three but it disengages itself after a short while.

What could be the possible problem and what I do? I checked my oil and it's intact. I've driven it for about 2600km since the last time changed in May this year.

I intend visiting a mechanic tomorrow Monday but I want to have an idea of what could be the problem and possibly the cost implications.

thanks

Kazrem:
Vicben if I get you clear, you didn't do exam last semester despite you registered for the exams. This semester you had paid only compulsory fee and you didn't see those courses you didn't do their exam last semester in courses registered for exam, though you saw them in your Tma. Right?

Firstly, they can't drop the courses of last semester, reason why didn't drop it for you. Only the courses of a current semester that they can drop. You ought to have dropped them that same semester (except of course if you got stuck in the build up to the exam) or write a default letter.

Secondly, you will have to pay for only the exams of those courses you didn't do to enable you see them in registrable exam courses.
Thank you Kazrem, you've cleared the issue. Meanwhile, do you have an idea of when this semester's exams will start?
Thanks

Please could you clarify an issue for me please? I registered for exams the previous semester but could not write them.

Now, I have paid the compulsory fee for the semester and all the courses I registered but could not write the exams are visible under registered courses but meanwhile, currently registered courses for exams is not showing anything. Though, my TMA are visible and I've started answering them already.

My concern is, do I really have to pay in another money and register for the exams or I should let it be since I can see my TMAs.

PS: I tried to drop the courses so I could register but it didn't work. I also went to my SC and they told me they no longer drop registered exams again.
I'd appreciate anyone's useful contributions.

He means, there is a limit on the number of credit unit one is permitted to carry each semester and so, she can register both this present and the previous semester courses with the condition that they do not exceed the limit (which I think is 24 credit unit)
HealthOHAI Africa Campaign Against Noma (cancrum Oris) Disease (Graphic images) by Vicben(op): 8:51am On Sep 05, 2016
Oral Health Advocacy Initiative - OHAI in partnership with the Africa Initiative for Health Innovation, Advocacy, and Development (AIHIAD), is organizing a conference to engage strategic stakeholders in kick-starting the process of adopting NOMA (Cancrum oris) as one of the neglected tropical diseases in response to the World Health Assembly.

This first National NOMA conference is scheduled to be held on the 7th to 9th September 2016 at the Women Development Centre, Central District Abuja.

As contained in the statement issued by Dr. Ver-or Ngutor, Executive Director, Oral Health Advocacy Initiative, a non-governmental organization that is advancing the course of oral health delivery in Nigeria and Africa, he states that,

“…adoption of NOMA as a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) will stimulate better advocacy and research that will lead to development of better intervention and control strategies”

NOMA (Cancrum oris) is a gangrene that develops in the mouth and rapidly spreads to other parts of the face.noma - Cancrum Oris

The disease is almost found exclusively in conditions of poverty, poor living conditions, poor hygiene and malnutrition and if not treated leads to death in 70-90 percent cases, experts lamented.

Reports by World Health Organisation (WHO) confirms that Africa in particular, but not exclusively the sub-Saharan States Nigeria, Chad, Ethiopia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Sudan have the highest incidences of individuals affected by noma.
At present, Noma current status is a significant bottleneck to raising awareness and funding opportunities for its diagnosis, treatment, and control.

Today, noma remains a problem where high rates are rampant.

ProgrammingRe: What Percentage Of Nigerian Citizens Are Developers? by Vicben(m): 6:19am On Sep 04, 2016
Based on my personal experience and knowledge, I'd the percentage of Nigerian developers is 5.

This is why i arrived at that
Total internet usage in Nigeria is slightly about 41% and out of this percentage, 80% of them use mobile phones and about 60% do not have access to personal computers and the remaining percentage that has access PCs do work mainly with word processing programs and surfing only.

Good day house, I need urgent information regarding my current exam registration status. I registered for exams last semester but couldn't write it cos I was knocked down by Chicken pox a day before the commencement of the exams. I called my centre on phone and informed them of my inability to sit for the exams as scheduled then and they responded affirmatively, that I should report back as soon as I've recuperated.

The challenge now is this, all the courses i registered for the exams last semester are now showing as not registered. I went to my centre, complained and they said i have to go and register the courses for the exams again but meanwhile, my TMA portal has been activated and i"ve even started taking them too except for one CIT 722 -computer networks - that is not showing any TMA for now.

My concern
1. Do i really have to register those courses again cos i heard them say one cannot access their TMAs until after they've registered for exams but meanwhile i"m accessing them. Does that mean my previous registration is still active though it's not showing on the current exam registration page.
2. Why is one my courses not displaying its TMA and what am i to do.

Patiently waiting for your informed contributions

PhonesWhatsapp Hit With 72-hour Ban In Brazil by Vicben(op): 9:24pm On May 02, 2016
Brazil has once again opted to temporarily block the popular messaging service WhatsApp in the country. According to Brazilian publication Folha De S.Paulo, the block is scheduled to remain in place for 72 hours, affecting WhatsApp users across the country. The reason for the temporary ban hasn't yet been revealed, but previous bans have come in response to Facebook's refusal to comply with federal investigators in in ongoing criminal cases.

This isn't the first time Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been temporarily blocked in Brazil. In December, the service was subject to a 48-hour shutdown for similar reasons related to a criminal investigation. That shutdown was lifted before the 48-hour period concluded, however.

QUESTION
Assuming this ban were in Nigeria, which other messaging app would you run to whilst the ban lasts?
BBM, 2GO, etc

PhonesRe: Does GLO NG Do This On Purpose? by Vicben(m): 7:07am On Apr 16, 2016
The speed and reliability of Glo mobile Internet is greatly dependent on user location. Like where I am right now, glo is the most stable now and it's the one I'm using presently to make this post and it's on 3g.

Although, there are times that it fluctuate but it's not that much.

The annoying thing is, even in this town, the stability does not cover it all. I visited a friend on the other side of the city and couldn't do anything all night. Even nairaland of all could not be loaded in 1min and it kept fluctuating and my phone was just getting hotter like hell and draining my power so fast in this powerless times ehn...

Glo really needs to do something ASAP about its network across all cities, towns and villages.
