That I want him to buy me a Mercedes or anything else doesn't mean I don't make my own money, I just love the feeling of being pampered by my man. As long as I'm being reasonable and he agrees to it, that's all that matters. Your opinion makes absolutely no difference.
Jeez, stop hating. It's not my fault that my man is a gentleman and he loves taking care of me. Wouldn't it be unreasonable not to feel sorry for that man? |

La Parisienne: @Op I love working hard and earning my own money for myself and my family. But the fact that I expect my man to take of some of my needs can never be overemphasized. I can as well spend my money on him so wtf? You can call me whatever you like, I don't care.
Some men actually love taking care of their women in a reasonable way, not all men run away from responsibilties like cowards. This reminds me of the fact that even women like you "who work hard" still expect men to fend for their needs; and this mentality makes me wonder if there is any thing in Nigerian system that makes it easier for men to earn more money that women: why must women be dependants? It's not so in the west. La Parisienne: @Op Btw, I still can't figure the point of this thread. Does this thread make you feel guilty? |

By relying on their BF, they actually removing options and choices, and when u don't have options or choices and u don't get to choose ur not free. Of course it does not mean the guy should not treat her out, make gifts and be nice but a BF should not there to take care of her financial needs. By the way ,like u said: they have to rely on their numerous BFs which i think is kind of risky and cannot make these young women proud of themselves. First of all, i am aware that this does not apply to every Nigerian girl, but the vast majority of Nigerian ladies have been in this mindset situation at one period or the other. But why must Nigerian girls have the mentality that it is the duty of their boyfriends to provide financial support, can't they make their own living independently? I don't see how the government or any business, or any other sector benefit Nigerian men more than they benefit the women; so, why can't Nigerian girls be productive instead of becoming financial liability to their numerous boyfriends? Listen ladies, this is the silly way that you waste your youth and at last, you see yourself begging for job or resorting to selling petty things at the market because, you weren't lucrative during your youthful prime years. |

I don't think there is any need to narrate your story to them because, they already have their own version of the incident recorded in their system, so, your explanation (that's if they are willing to listen to your own version) would fall on deaf ears: All you need to do is to request to know your status: if i were you, i'd only ask them to verify that i am eligible to apply for the visa |

immigrationguy: @vicjustice thank you for the reply, what i need advise in regards is it ok to reapply and put my other family members name in my new application That would be OK, but first, you need to know if there is any concequency imposed against you as a result of the " false representation (that you) employed or (the) material facts (that) were not disclosed for (the) purpose of obtaining the leave (visa)". It is very important to know this and be aware of your status with the UK Immigration because, you may have been placed under the 10 years ban without knowing it. immigrationguy: Hello Nairalanders,
I seek your advise on my situation i traveled to the UK on the 4th of February 2012 but on getting to the point of entry in heathrow i was asked few question relating to my trip. I was asked who i will be staying with which i told the ECO that i will be staying with my sister and the ECO asked if i had other family members in the UK which i said yes and i mention there names and he told me why i didn't mention there name in my application. As such i was informed that my visa will be cancelled becos i didnt state my other family members.
I was issued a NOTICE OF REFUSAL OF LEAVE TO ENTER, it read thus
you were given notice of leave to enter the UK as visitor on 25/5/2011 but i am satisfied that false representation were employed or material facts were not disclosed for purpose of obtaining the leave,or there has been such a change of circumstances in your case since the leave was granted that it should be cancelled. This is because you stated your visa application that you wished to come to the UK to visit your sister and that other than you sister you had no other family in the UK. However it has come to light that you infact have a brother and sister who have resided in the UK for approximately 10years. you have subsequently stated that you were aware at the time of your visa application that your siblings were in UK and indeed that you saw then when you visited the UK 2008
you have not sought entry under any other provision of the immigration rules
I therefore refuse you leave to enter the UK.If you leave was conferred by an entry clearance, this will also have the effect of cancelling your entry clearance. The cancellation of your leave will be treated for the purpose of the immigration Act 1971 and the nationality, immigration and asylum act 2002 as refusal of leave to enter at a time when you were in possession of a current entry clearance.
I boarded the next available flight to Nigeria.
All your advise are welcome
Many Thanks Immigrationguy You made a big mistake, you shouldn't have said anything contrary to what you declared during your application. You didn't state the regard in which you need "advice". |

bravolad: Vicjustice, You can come into Nigeria with your MRP & obtain the epassport afterwards. I suggest you go to the NIS headqarters in Sauka Abuja & lodge an official complaint about what happened in Dublin. Provided you can substanciate your claim, they most likely will listen to you. Sure, the "issuing date" on the passport is 16 May 10, that is enough prove that I was supposed to have been issued the E-Passport which was far in circulation long before then, and yet, they gave me the useless MRP one. Well, i won't really bother myself to waste more time reporting the embassy any so called authority, it would only be like reporting a Thief to an Armed-Robber. |

ojdollars: No, you have to fly to Italy first and spend like a day there and the next day, you can book for a flight to Germany and then you fit lost, since you are already planning to lost for there (joke). Problem solved I guess This is a very wrong advice, really wrong. Though, it is a regulation that application for a Schengen visa must be made at the embassy of the country where the applicant's main activities would be taking place, and that country is expected to be his/her chief destination. But yet, a Schengen visa holder is allowed to arrive at any country's airport in the Schengen territory; the only thing is that, the holder may be (not necessarily) subjected to explain the purpose of the visit: and if you have a valid explanation, you are as good as arriving at the country that issues the visa, but if your explanation is unreasonable, then, you're doomed. paulhero: Hello good people of nairaland my visa was issue in Benin republic with my Ecowas passport nigeria,in itaily embassy there. But i don't want to go to itaily. Can i fly from lagos to germany direct?without stopping over in itaily where my visa was issue. Expect that you would be asked to explain the purpose of your visit to Germany, so, unless you have a valid reason to explain to them, you might get into serious trouble. Therefore, as an Italian Schengen Visa holder, i reccommend that you go to Italy and from there to Germany; since you may experience less scruntiny with Italian visa in Italy: and there is no Immigration control in Germany when you are entering from Italy. But how come you can't spell Italy? I thought the first misspelling was a mistake, and then you made another, and another. That's horrible of you |

saska1122: I like the way the 1st 2 responders(werepeLeri & collinsfbi ) to this thread made their argument. It shows how insensitive Nigerians can be towards others even when things are not properly done. Have they asked how easy was it for the OP to get the new "e-passport" in where he lives? In where I am, people had to stay 3 nights outside only to leave without getting their data taken, even after paying additional $100 to the Nigerian high commission here. After sometimes, the high commissioner told them they can go to Nigeria and get their epassport. So does that mean someone will leave his job or school, pay high transport fare back to Nigeria just to get a new passport with old one still valid. The process of getting the new passport is really hell in some countries outside Nigeria. Even in Nigeria, the cost of 1 passport is N8,500, but people are made to pay as high as 20K to 50K. Talking about checking fraud with the new e-passport, I can boldly say it is not really full proof!! U walk into NIS office today to get a new Passport, all they do is ask U to give them 30K and some funny document even when U have the old passport. Let me ask, a certificate of LGA origin or age declaration and your old MRP passport, which is most appropriate identification? Yet this guys don't even demand to see you old passport. I have seen lots of people in Nigeria change a lot of info on the new passport like name, DOB etc. Some even have more than 1 epassport. We don't have any database to crosscheck. So if U like make 10 fingerprint with 10 different names n 10 DOB's. I think before this can be effectively done, somethings need to be in place. NIS is as corrupt/greedy as Nigeria Police, they need re-orientation and over-hauling. Thank you for showing this great understanding. Imagine my case; sometime in May 2010, i called at the Nigerian Embassy, Dublin to apply for a new passport, and i paid 200 Euros, plus the other 70 Euros i spent on transportation (Since i no longer live in Dublin), and also paid 50 Euros for a B&B, and eventually, when my passport was ready, i was surprised to see the MRP instead of the E-Passport. And when i demanded to know why it was so, they explained that the Embassy was expecting the E-Passport booklets from Nigeria, and because of the popular demands and the pressure on them for passport, they decided to issue the MRP " since it is still a legal tender as long as the date remains valid": and that was how i accepted my MR Passport which is "valid until May 2015" and i was assured that i can use it until May 15. Now, having been deceived into this situation by the Nigerian Embassy in Dublin, why won't i see this below comment as absolute nonsense?: werepeLeri:
If a nation declares a document as no longer being a legal tender - why do you still carry it and expect it to be accepted?
Legally - the old passport is no longer tenable, it has been replaced with an e passport, and everyone had been told when the old passport will cease to be tenable, so, whether still valid or not, if you tender it, you are flouting the law.
It is not a matter of forcing people to abandon their valid passport, its about people respecting the law and doing away with a document that is no longer a legal tender.
Sometimes ago - Nigeria changed her currency notes, look and feel, if you like have billions in the bank, and you dont change the notes before they became illegal tenders, who will you shout to? You will say they are forcing you to abandon the old notes, but you still want to spend it?
Bros - which country replaces passports without charge? Please give instances. |

The answer is, you wont get anyone in that category, because everyone did the right thing by changing their old passport to the new e passport. Please, don't say what you don't really know, i personally know a couple of Nigerians who are still holding the National passports with valid date, in fact, i'm asking this questions on their behalf. My query is this: What is the Nigerian Immigration take on this? * " I'd like to hear from people who had travelled with the phasing out Nigerian National Passport (not the E-Passport), Please, share your experience; i'm have a major concern in this. collinsfbi: I believe you know Nigerians so well and many atrocities committed with the old passport so i don't expect much deliberation on this topic. The FG finds the need for the implementation of the E-passport, it was introduced and to certain extent, it reduces crime of impersonation and other related offenses. Even if Nigerians with valid old "P" have to pay to get for the new "P", i still feel Nigerians should be happy that such was introduced. Considering the secure usage of the new "P" with finger print and other secured measures i think feel it right for the FG to stop the uses of the old "P" world wide. The introduction of the new "P" to me is still one of the best things Nigerian Government has done so far to help reduce rate of impersonation. It was done to protect your right as a Nigerian in term of alteration made to stolen passport by fraudsters, nothing more beneficial can be done than implementing the new "p" and stopping the use of the old "p"
Gbammm over and out I absolutely understand your points, and i understand that the reasons they took such measure is because, it's Nigeria, and the Nigerians involved otherwise, it's not a fair measure. But, my question isn't answered : I'd like to hear from people who had travelled with the phasing out Nigerian National Passport (not the E-Passport), Please, share your experience; i'm have a major concern in this. Anyone, please? |

Bros - which country replaces passports without charge? Please give instances. I still think it is unfair to require payment for such, some people paid huge amount of money and they have only had their National Passports for as little as six months before they were warned to pay another huge fee for the E-Passport even while their National Passport had some 4.5 years left. When Latvia and the other nine countries joined the EU, and when they needed to change their national passport to the EU type, they didn't just enforce a deadline to phase out their National Passport, rather they allowed it to valid along with the EU passport until their expiring dates, and it was totally up to the citizens to either go for the new EU passport or to hold on to their national passport. And most Latvians went for the New EU Passport when they realised that their National Passport was no longer allowed to enter the United States, Canada, Japan without a visa: for your information, Latvians (as well as other countries) pay just 12 Euros to get a new passport. If Nigeria is a person that respects citizens rights, they should have followed this regulation, |
