TravelRe: Nigerian Passport For Oyibo by Vicjustice: 6:06pm On May 18, 2012
aeoisolmo: Hello guys.
I am married to my nigerian wife for 20 years, we lived in Nigeria off and on, and plan to move to Lagos permanently.
For good reasons I need a nigerian Passport. From what I have heard, the process is very difficult, and can take up to
15 years. I can't wait that long, does anybody have high rang friends in immigration, that can be of assistance with my
problem?
I know, there are some other threads on this topic, and some people are propably going to aks, why I would even want a nigerian
Passport, or others might think I don't have the right to it, because it's difficult for Nigerians to get foreign Passports.
I can only say, there where no problems for my wife getting stay permit and passport in my country, once we where married.
We all know, there is some corruption going on in Nigeria, which also I suffered from sometimes, so why not take advantage
of that when possible?
I would be very happy, if anybody had some information for me.
Thanks
Peter
It is not really as difficult as you fear; if you married a Nigerian citizen, and you reside in Nigeria for certain duration of time and also, the community or local government of your wife is willing to issue formal attestation letter to support your application; and ultimately, you have means of livelihood in Nigeria, then you would be eligible to get a Nigerian citizenship.
I've seen white guys with Nigerian citizenship

yema00x7: Good afternoon,Well i want to report a guy to everyone here who have been scamming people all around.sometimes around september last year,This guy started calling me ,He says can i help him in processing portugal visa,i said no problem,After 2 weeks he called me again and said am i ready for the job,I told him no problem. After some weeks he started disturbing me with messages saying he can help my client with Japan ,south korea, estonia, south cyprus,Brazil,Argentina,Mexico ,columbia and canada Visa.I was surprised when i got the message because what he told me the first time he called was that he want me to help him with portugal Visa.i did not reply to his message, the next day he called and explain to me...I said but you told me you need a portugal visa why are you telling me all this,He said hes a travel agent but he doesnt like dealing with clients that he likes dealing with travel agents...To cut the long story short,he keeps disturbing with another message that he has a sure link of canada,That is just a processing of 2 weeks...he sent me one fake canada job that he claims he is among the ones they submitted.I was convince,so when some guys came to my office i explained to them about the canada job,They were interested but they told me they not going to drop a dime until the job comes out.I called Felix and explained to him,He said no no no ,we need a deposit of 100k for each.I said well am sorry we cant do business together because my clients are not ready to drop any money.after some days again ,he start sending me text messages again that this is a sure job that he is dealing with the white man directly ,that if he helps me get this canada work permit it will boost my business the more...I said my brother it cant work ,my clients are not ready to drop any money..But he never stops Flashing and texting me. so explained to my clients ,they insist...To make the Job done, out of my pocket i sent #160,000K to this guy to his Gtb account:
Account Name,Felix Azubike.
Account Number,0025625519
Phone number,08032706277

I ran to the airport that day because he said if he did not receive the passports that day theres nothing he can do as the white man needs to travel to canada so i ran to the airport and i sent those passport with #6000,i called him that i have sent the money and passports ,I started counting after 2 weeks i called him Felix how far?He sayd emm emm theres a delay i should give him another two weeks ,That night that i called him he text me another message that he has a south cyprus link ,no deposit ,japan no deposit,i got like 4 guys who are interested but my mind tells me not to send it as i know if he has those passport he will still ask for money....In conclusion, this scammer felix Azubike ,who is married and have two kids ,played on me for almost 6 months ,i threathen him ,i reported the case to the police but because of the distance because he stayed in Abuja...he finally sent those passport back last week, when he sent it he did not even tell me anything ,it was the bus driver that called me that i have a package from Akure ,i said wrong number ,later the next day my mind tells me to call him ,so i called him with a different number as he no longer pick my calls again since feb so when i called him with another number he picked it and i asked abt my passport ,he said he has sent it ,i said WHAT?you sent passports without letting me know, what abt the money i sent ,he said hes busy that i should call him later.I called him today again with another glo number,he said he also spent money that theres nothing he can do.Now am blaming myself because 1,I dont even know him ,weve never met before,2,Since we have been talking he never call me for once ,all he does is to flash me or text me...i should have known that he is a scammer. Please nairalanders,be careful and dont fall victim like me...he might use another number to call you or change his account but be careful...You should all learn from my mistake.Thank you!
How could you?

shineno: In section 6.3 of the tourist visa form, it states have u ever been refused a visa for any country?
I was refused a tourist visa for the USA but I don't know the exact date and month but I know it was year 2007. Also can't recall the exact reason but I know d interviewer did say because I hadn't travelled out to countries very far from my home country.....how do I solve this?
Unfortunately, such is their style that they demand specified dates even though it's logical that you might have forgotten the date.
Just make sure you enter the known year, and (if you are applying on paper form), just leave the day and month blank, but if you are applying online, then just enter any day and month; but either way, remember to add a remark explaining that the date is not to the best of your knowledge

shithapuns: @vic justice and other knowledgeable peeps, pls help me answer the questions below. i intend to apply for uk visa for my wife..she is not working..just doing small biz selling stuff that most naija women do..she has abt 300k in her acct and i am employed and hv a valid uk visa.i hv about 800k in my acct and will include my leave/identification letter from my company.my monthly sal is above 250k.

do i state that she is self employed or what.
thanks
It would be fine to state that she is SELF-EMPLOYED only if her business is documented and she has a bank statement that demonstrates the transactions of her "business" proceedings, otherwise, she would be considered unemployed.
As for your monthly salary of N250k, that is super impressive, but unfortunately, the visa officer is going to observe that your account balance (of N800K) does not commensurate with your declared salary of N250k a month, and also, i don't think they will accept that you can sponsor your wife with this amount of money available; therefore, on the "balance of probability" your wife stands a great risk of visa refusal

avenza: Ok thanks for your reply, I have my receipt, which I give my customers, please is that what u mean?
I really don't know about the calibre of business that you are running, and i don't know the authenticity of your invoice document; ie whether it consists of duty analysis including tax deduction etc, if it does, then it could be considered an official document which would be acceptable by the embassy: but if it's just an ordinary receipt that you write and tear off a booklet (lacking no official duty analysis and not having a database content), then i'm afraid such ca not be acceptable by the embassy, it may even be considered fake
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Vicjustice:
avenza: Vicjustice thanks.for your reply, but. You know is not easy for bank to reflect purpose of transaction on. Bank statement cos there is no provision for that, in my previous application I attached receipts of purchase containing amounts of.money. Credited in my account.which entail purpose of. Such amount. Pls.I. Still need.some more advice on. How to resolve this thanks
Well, my bank allows a payer to make remark, though, it is optional.
But if your bank does not have provision for remark, then, how about payers name/ Don't you have other supporting documents that explains the reasons of transactions?
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Vicjustice:
avenza: Thanks for. Your wonderful replies, I am a business man so I use my account, I do have people that pay in large amount of money into my account for purchase, so I didn't. Lodge money into my account, so pls. What will be d best step to take, cos I applied for visiting visa, for 10 days. How do I address. D issue of account statement?
But the reason you gave for the refusal does not suggest that you are a business man, rather that you are in employment.
Well, if you are a business man and you make your earnings by means of contract or costumers, then, you may want to instruct your payers or clients to enter their names and make remarks that would reflect in your bank statement as the payees and the purpose of payment: Surely, if your bank account demonstrates these records, then it is good to be used as a bank statement for visa application
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Vicjustice:
menia: He has a right of appeal but his right of appeal is limited to the grounds refered to in section 84(1)(c)of the nationality immigration and asylum act. the ground is "that the decision is unlawful under section 6 of the Human Rights Act 1998 (c. 42) (public authority not to act contrary to Human Rights Convention) as being incompatible with the appellant’s Convention rights". He can also ask for an administrative review of the decision or reapply.
You should have been aware that the UK embassy never uses absolute statement such as "THIS APPLICATION ATTRACTS NO RIGHTS OF APPEAL", rather they politely put it this way: This application does not attract the full rights of appeal, and that automatically mean NO RIGHTS whatsoever.
In the UK embassy, it's either your application attracts the full rights of appeal which means, you can appeal the decision or you have LIMITED rights of appeal which means, you can't make an appeal: you need to have the full rights to be eligible to make an appeal.
If you assume that the terms are in three categories like: FULL RIGHTS, LIMITED RIGHTS and NO RIGHTS then that is not the UK embassy hence in the UK embassy, it's either you have the "FULL RIGHTS" or you have a "LIMITED RIGHT"; never would they use an absolute statement such as NO RIGHTS
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Vicjustice: 1:00pm On Apr 25, 2012
avenza: please house i need your best advice concerning my visa application refusal, which is stated below

you state that you will fund your proposed trip to the UK and have submitted your personal bank statements evidence of finance. You state you monthly income to be 180,000(£720) however the credits and balances in your account are not commensurate with your declared monthly income
you have not provided an ITCC or any further evidence of your stated income and I am therefore not satisfied that your income or employment is as claimed. Therefore on the balance of probabilities I am not satisfied that you will be maintained and accommodated in the uk without working or having recourse to public funds or are able to meet the cost of return or an onward journey by paragraph 1(vi) and (vii) of HC395
I therefore refuse your application because I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you meet all of the requirements of the relevant paragraph of the united kingdom immigration rules.
Your right of appeal is limited to the grounds refered to in section 84(1)© of the nationality immigration and asylum act 2002 (www.legislation.gov.uk) .

so pls i need your advice on the best thing to do concerning this my case, i submitted all the necessary documents, tax clearance, certificate of incorporation, bank statement, receipt of transaction and many others, i have over 2 million in my account with transactions on it, so i don't know how else they want me to prove to them.
Limited rights of appeal means, NO rights of appeal whatsoever: therefore, there is nothing you can do about this very case, it has been decided and is closed.
But you can correct the error in the future; ensure that your bank statement reflects evidence of your income (wages/salaries) and support your future applications with payslips of same: this is more acceptable than to lodge lump amount of money from unverifiable sources into your account. Cheers

TravelRe: Puzzling Information by Vicjustice(op): 11:39pm On Apr 23, 2012
Observer1: @vicjustice,
refusal, when I said refusal I do not mean absolute refusal,I got pissed off with the consular and we xchanged some words and I said to hell with him and pssport,And left never gone back there since 2007,Although I once had a guy called Mohammed to check my details on their system,But he could not find any,Which means the event was not registered on their computer.Anyway,I know that I portrayed myself as a violent person here which I am not.

The reasons why I got pissed off was that they kept making the rules as they go,they were not following the official requirements. On the requirements I met all that was on the BOOK.However,he requested That I bring an Affidavitts, luckly I was a law student doing work xperience in a firm,so I got one of the solicitor in the office to sign it and he included his num which they rang. Then I was asked to come the next day,I tot I going to collect the psssport or something.Guess what?your man demanded that bring another affidavitts from nigeria, luckly my cousin is a Barrister in Ikeja,he immediatly fax it to me the next day.yr man demanded again that I bring a letter of Indigene from a cheif or oba near to our home, which I did the next 3 working days (friday)he then requested again that I bring a letter from my mum.I then said this is complete horse manure,Why did'nt you ask me to bring all these things in one go,He said he is in charge he can demand what he please,I said then to hell with u and the passport. And I never went back there since then.Although,a friend introduced me to Mohammed then, who later confirmed that the incident was not recorded.
Well, you gave them reasons to demand all those documents, you didn't do exactly how it was supposed to have been done.
Now, when they asked you to provide affidavits, it was expected of you to provide one from Nigeria, but you went to get a document from an Irish source, that was wrong. You were then given a second chance to provide an affidavits from Nigeria, and you thought it smart to have someone swear an affidavits on your behalf, that action was illegal since you are a legal aged adult: and because of these illegality involved in your attempt to get the Nigerian passport, the embassy then took it that your claims are questionable hence they made all those demands. you are to blame dude.

Thanks for all the responses
Are you serious?
Well, if you receive up to that amount, then, you need not have the least of worries for a visa of any country on the face of the earth, your only worry should be PROVING IT since your financial balance is questionable when your salary is taken into consideration.
But, na the World Trade Centre you dey build for Naija wey you no get money for your account?

I do understand that you are being sponsored, and logically, you seem to have something (of an obligation or ties) to return to Nigeria for. But by regulation, you are expected to have substantial amount of personal money to sustain you when you return to Nigeria; the ECO might not be encouraged to issue you a visa if he understands that your travel would affect your finance, therefore, you may be considered an Immigration risk: remember that N500.000 is less than £2.000 UK.
I am giving these assertions based on the figures that you provided, since i have no idea of your salaries or incomes and outgoing transactions which can be taken into consideration apart from the balance

Observer1: @Vicj,African born in south Africa to a Nigerian mother but lost all my African identities to Irish nationality, wanted a 9ja passport from d consular here but was refused, hoping to apply for it in 9ja,.I have a house in 9ja,so I don't think i'l need to reserv an hotel but u never know 9jerians they might force me to book for an hotel as their requirements stated that one need an invitation letter and hotel reservation.anyways to ur question yes Irish national(black)
But what was the given reason for your passport application refusal?
Well, you won't be required to make hotel reservation if you can prove that you indeed have a place of residence in Nigeria. You can present the details of your house in Nigeria as intended accommodation (but the house documents may be required as a proof since the embassy already suspects that you have no dealings with Nigeria).
Now, as you are already known in the data-base of the Nigerian immigration service as someone who has attempted to (unjustifiably) obtain a Nigeria travel document, an invitation letter may be seen as a desperate measure to achieve your goal, so i am of the opinion that it would be easier to prove that you are truly of Nigerian decent with your ties than to book a hotel under the invitation of a total stranger: Therefore, since your intention is to go to Nigeria to apply for a Nigerian passport, it wouldn't spell wise for you to get a letter of invitation from a total stranger, think about this.

Though there are instances of easier (straight forward visa proceedures), spouse visas could take anything between 6 months to 3 years, so, it would be of no use trying to ring them because, there is a big chance that they wouldn't have any helpful answer for you since your application is not yet outside the frame period: wait until the 6 months elapsed, you might not even need to ring them before they reach decision

What you are entitled for (by rights) is a spouse visa, the ILR is not by rights, it is issued on merit: so, if you applied for your spouse visa, you would be issued the uk Resident Permit which could be the ILR once in the UK.
