Good day to you all, the uk visa gurus. I am very appreciative of your efforts to help other Nigerians.i want to apply for the hsmp.i have seen the requirements but i want to be sure before i put in my application. i also want to know all technicalities involved. the things i should avoid and salient things i should add to the application. documents that will give me a added advantage etc. thank you all.
One thing that's the most important credential in any kind of visa application is the evidence that an applicant has credible responsibility both in home country and the destination one: This credential is not just an added advantage, but rather the superior one. There's nothing as good as being seen as one who's useful in his own country.
And also, considering the fact that the visa officers look for excuses to refuse visas rather than for the reason to issue them, therefore it's better to have more than enough documents than to have a little less than enough. These guys would refuse visas for the most feeble excuse, the faintest of reason.

I have been called to come for my Visa @ the BHC plz can you tell me the likely questions that may be asked on getting there. Thanks
If you've been called for your visa collection, then, i don't think there's likely going to be much questions, except perhaps some identification to prove you're the one. Or, did you mean that they called you for interview?

. . .Tell me is it advisable to Use the old passort then or i could go ahead with the new e-passport and inform them of the old passport of the fact that i have been refused visa before ?
If your old passport is still valid, then, feel free to use it, it's recommended: it's better to use the old passport with the refusal stamps than to use a new one trying to conseal the fact of the circumstance where-as they already have your information in their database. So, i suggest you use the old passport as this would explain your honesty and credibility.
Believe me, these guys really hate to see people trying to be smart.

Good evening to all the Visa Guru's,
Good evening! wink

femigirl:
Please I need some answers to my questions pretty please.
Fire them, you have my attention  smiley

femigirl:
Here goes my partner( we are engaged) needs to come to the UK because we have a family wedding to attend in August. Do we have enough time for him to get a visahuh
Yes, you have more than enough time for it since it usually takes a window period of 21 days on average.

femigirl:
going forward he wants to be visiting me as offer as possible what the best type of visa we should apply for?
He simply has to apply for the multiple entry type which is usually for a 6 months period: it's for the embassy to decide the visa category and issue him the "C" type.

femigirl:
further he has his Aunt(his dad junior sister) living in the Uk,should she be his sponsor or should i be his sponsor who the best person? idont want him to refused
Anybody (who has evidence of financial capability with his/her bank account recording transaction details) can be a sponsor as long as the purpose is deemed credible in the eye of the visa officer (ECO), but (if you have these credentials,) i'll recommend you to be the sponsor in consideration of your relationship with him

femigirl:
Also when he comes to Uk and we want to travel to France/italy for a weekend? do we have to apply for a Visa way in advance? or is there like europe visa?
The UK visa is only valid for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, you can NOT use it for any other country: So, if you intend to visit France or Italy, you have to apply for a Schengen visa separately.

femigirl:
further i no the sponsor can submit all paper in the uk,how does that work?
You have to go to the immigration/home office with the required documents, they have a database where they can correspond with the British embassy in Nigeria.

femigirl:
THANK YOU INADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR HELP. MAY THE GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU ALL.
You're welcome and may God bless you too  cool
TravelSave The Stress: Apply For The Uk Visa Anywhere In Nigeria by Vicjustice(op): 12:35pm On May 13, 2008
I'm surprised that most people are still not aware of the conveniences that the UK immigration has provided for the numerous visa applicants in Nigeria. This is probably because some of us think we know too much and don't care to know further.
Worse still, a lot of Nigerians (out of ignorance) have been travelling to far-away cities to apply for the UK visas where-as, they have application centres in their own cities as well as they can apply online from any part of Nigeria.
For instance: Ibadan is a major UK visa application centre with it's application centre given thus:
                                   UK Visa Application Centre, Ibadan
                                           Ground Floor, 36, Osuntokun Avenue
                                          Bodija
                                           Oyo State, Ibadan.
                                           Telephone 04601440 (N50 per min)

   For Port Harcourt applicants:
UK Visa Application Centre, Port Harcourt
                                           Deborah (Old PMC House)
Plot FC 6, Sani Abacha Road
                                           G.R.A, Phase 111, Port Harcourt.

The good news is that the online application method has been functioning in Nigeria even though many people have been non-proficiently "advised" here in Nairaland.
So, if you want to apply for the UK visa, save yourself the stress and simply apply for it online at:
http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx
https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/AppProcess/s_ApplicationSecurity.aspx?check=true

Note: The first one is the main page, and the second one is the application form one.

All you have just posted in reply to JC Deji's enquiries are nothing but rubbish and totally wrong.

Since when did BHC begin online applications for visa applications from Nigeria. If you do not know anything about how things are done from Nigeria, its best you overlook the post and shut up rather than exhibiting your foolishness here.

@deji
When the VAC started, they had an office at Ibadan. However, right now i am not sure if its still being operated. Their office at Port Harcourt has been closed. I am only very sure of Lagos and Abuja. I will look up their site to confirm about IB and i will get back to you.
Hmm! I'm surprised you're not aware that the online application method functions in Nigeria, and that Ibadan is a major visa application centre: UK Visa Application Centre, Ibadan
                                                  Ground Floor, 36, Osuntokun Avenue
                                                  Bodija
                                                  Oyo State, Ibadan.
                                                  Telephone 04601440 (N50 per min)

Don't you think you need to upgrade your brain in order to update your knowledge before coming to show your mannerless behaviour characterised by your senseless rain of insults?
For your information, the online application has since been activated in Nigeria despite all the outdated misinformations people have been giving in the name of "advice". Now do your findings before coming out to say some usual nonsense.
TravelRe: Rip-offs At Nigerian Airports by Vicjustice: 9:53am On May 13, 2008
Novice1:
I don't know what other people go through, but recently i have had very nasty experiences in Nigerian airports:

1. Friday 2th Apr.- Counted N 16k and paid for a one-way early morning Chanchangi ticket to Abuja from Lagos only for the sales girl at the counter to tell me I gave her 15k. My insistence attracted her colleagues who all joined to defend her, as if i gave her the cash in their presence. One of the even mocked the it is "too early" for me to make noise just for 1 k. I had to pay up the 1k to make my flight for an early morning appointment in Abuja.
Though anything is possible with Nigerian employees, but how can you be certain that the amount you gave was the right figure?
As for me, i'd rather avoid a noise for 1k, though  smiley

Novice1:
2. Wednesday 30th April.-- An unusual crowd of travellers outside Abuja to combine Thursday's public holiday with Friday and the weekend. Airport touts were having a field day. You have to part with b/w 18-20k for a 16k ticket. Aero Contractors jerked up their tickets from 17-19 k. all flights were declared fully booked, if u are not ready t pay through the touts. the touts are actually airline staff) and they conduct their nefarious activities with some tacit approval from their employers. Vowed never to pay a kobo to any tout and has to pass another night in Abuja.
An airline company that allows its ticket staffs to carry out such unconventional behaviour; hmmm, i wonder how they control their aircraft maintenance staffs: this explains the reason why aircrash in Nigeria is not unheard of

Novice1:
3. Sunday 11th May----- Almost late for my 10:35 am Virgin Atlantic flight to London due to the early morning heavy rains, but thank goodness I made it. At the last checkpoint in the MMIA before reaching the departure gates, An NDLEA official by name ADEBAYO, fully aware we are about to miss our flight, seized our passports ( I and two other guys) and told us to "put our heads together" if we don't want to miss our flight. We ranted about extortion, our rights, etal, all to no avail. one of us even offered him N 1k which he refused saying we should have forex on us. It took the special grace of God to make that flight because that guy took us to a searching room, and for all I know he could have planted drugs on us and accused us of being peddlers had we insisted on not playing to his tunes.

I hate to say it, but our Airports are really havens of extortion

Fellow Nairalanders, what is happening in Naija? do you have any airport stories to tell?
I always tell people that there is a big difference between Bribery and Robbery. This is a clear case of robbery.

"The truth is that it is because of the elections," an immigration official who did not want to be named told the BBC News website.

"You know people from Niger speak Hausa which is the language of northern Nigeria and they are Mus'lims. Because of this cultural affinity, it's easy for them to pretend to be Nigerians and vote in the elections ," the source said.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6387053.stm
This simply shows how disorganised a country like Nigeria is: How can people "pretend to be Nigerians" because they speak the Hausa language and they are Mus'lims, what about national database identification?
Can such thing happen in any organised country where every citizen is documented?

Everything stated above is all true, you will also need to provide in your documentation that you have ties to Nigeria that after your studies you will be coming back to Nigeria even though they the ECO knows you are allowed to work for 1year after your studies ,but you just need to give them some lies that will be convincing enough that you you have ties, ties could be in form of investments which you hav eback here in Nigeria which could be shares, landed property etc.
If you don't have any,you can still go to the Nigeria stock exchange and get you r self soem shares oooo my brother,it is better to show to them that you love your country and you are coming back after your studies but once you are issued the visa you can decide to forget about all what you told them you were going to do either in the form. All the best mate. wink wink wink wink

One payment is made an admission letter will be provided by the school.
For documents to be used to support your application, you will need a sponsor's bank statement, sponsorship letter, origin of his funds and your relationShip be defined.
Your academic documents will aslo be part of the docsto be used.
All these documents above are needed, and also, they expect a satisfying evidence of how your sponsor will benefit from your education.
So Dear, the more documents you have the better chance you stand; it's better to have more than enough than to have less, remember that the ECOs look for an excuse to refuse a visa rather than a reason to issue it.
