Hi everyone in the house, please it seems like the Visa application is handled by the TLScontact, rather than VFS, could anyone confirm the new development? Thanks

It was changed in October

Thanks alot, you meant it is compulsory I add my proof of employment, right?
I mean it is not compulsory.
But adding is not bad but It is never part of the requirements, so don't bother including it.
I was working before coming to Belgium and i didn't include it

Good day everyone. I just joined the group and wish to identify with all of you here as Ella.
I would like to ask few questions to enable me apply successfully to the embassy if I get admission for masters studies.

1. Can already legalized documents in another embassy be submitted to the Belgium embassy for their own legalization since they are the original documents?
2. Can anyone give me details of what the requirements for fundings are or give me the link to read up myself? I have checked and I don’t know if I’m not searching properly.
3. How much is the visa application and legalization fees for maters?
1. Nope, the legalisation must be done by Belgium embassy. But you can still use the original document but it must be legalised by Belgium embassy.
2. About the funding aspects, it depends.
3. Since Belgium is using TLS now, you need to check their website to be sure of the price.
Wish you success in your application

Yeah..She has replied me.

But I need another clarification.

I recently received my legalized documents from the embassy.

Regarding visa application (document submission) at VFS, I would like to know if alongside printing the RECEIPTS of the legalized docs (to attach with my original documents), do I have to still make two extra photocopies of each of these receipts to attach to the two photocopies of my credentials?

Thank you.

You dont need to, once you have made attached the receipt of the legalised documents to the original. However, I have seen people that even after making the photocopies of the receipts, the vfs decided not to collect the receipt from them while vfs collected the photocopies.
My advice is that you should do the photocopies and take it with you to vfs, if they want to collect it, no problem and if not too, you have nothing to lose.
Thanks.
Danke
Merci

Please house @victorsol @DeeKeem @Tomisin I have an urgent question.

Does the Belgium embassy Currently possess student visa.

I sent a message to them and they made mention of them not currently processing student visa till further notice, I don't know if I should still book the appointment and hope that by the time the meeting comes around that student visas processions would have began

They are still processing visa.. besides you don't need to book an appointment with them, just walk into VAC and submit your application. I think submission is every Mondays and Wednesdays

I want to ask concerning the legalization of documents: can I legalize my statement of result and student copy transcript (my school doesn't give students the official copy)?

For statement of result, I think it is allowed if your school can show a proof that they have not issued original certificate for anyone.

For student copy transcript, I am sorry, the answer is no... it is not possible.

.

Can someone also help with the cost of legalization at ministry of education and foreign affairs.

Thanks

You dont legalise at ministry of education and foreign affairs, you only authenticate..
The price for ministry of education is 300naira per page and for foreign affairs is between 500 to 1000 per page, it depends on your negotiation power..
You should prepare like 15kmax for the two

good day all,

I'm new here and seeking to go for masters in Brussels. I will really appreciate all the help I can get, starting from affordable universities, partial or full grants from universities etc. And also the admission process. Any input will be highly appreciated. Thank you

For affordable universities, focus more on VUB, schools in Brussels and Antwerp university. But if your program is not there, you can try KU leuven (there are cheap courses here too) and Ghent university (some pre masters and advance master programs are cheap here too as low as 2500 euros)
Also try look for the locations of the program, it has connection with the fee.

For scholarship, Belgium hardly give out scholarships at bachelor and masters level. But there are some like top grant scholarship, with good cgpa, you can be nominated.
More also, VLIR-OUS scholarship which is Belgium scholarship excluded Nigerian from applying, I think sinceb2years ago.
But with thorough internet search, you can get anything.

Goodluck in your search

Greetings,

Please I will like to ask if VFS global usually ask for additional supporting documents aside the ones listed on their website or the embassy during interview. Like letter of introduction from employer/academic institution(for students), hotel reservation or travel ticket reservation?

Thanks in advance.
No they wont.
But during interview, you must be very careful of the way you answer some questions, if you are working, try and with some documents, thet might ask some information about it and they may not. But for visa application, you dont need any other documents aside the one listed on their portal. The one I mentioned above is for the interview and its always a rare case

Good day All, in filling the visa application form, what should be the duration of stay for a bachelor degree program applicant?
Will it be appropraite to put 1095 days (3 years) here?
Anyone heading to KU Leuven for 2021/22 ?

I think you can only put 365days. That's the maximum

The motion was raised in the house for the 1 year post study permits but it has not yet been passed into law yet... if you truly understand the dynamics of government in Belgium, then you should know it is not concluded yet. So hold back on the information you just posted till it is approved.
Okay.
They actually started deliberation on this issue long time like 2016 and for coming out to give the outcome of the meeting is a positive sign.
Some countries embark on the extension or granting post study permit to student because of reasons best known to them. UK is not excluded and this is a sign that a long term deliberation is coming to actualisation.

Thanks for your opinion

Permit me to ask, from which country are you coming in from? I'm asking because Internship from Nigeria to Belgium is quite rare, but I've met a handful of postdocs anyway.
Are you in belgium?

Thanks bro for this info. It's really helpful.
In fact, you gave me one important info before leaving France, which is to come along with Covid-19 test since I won't be allowed to board trains in Belgium without it even as a first timer.

I am usually an indoor person, I doubt there's a need for Bicycle. The buses, trams would do. I am only wondering is there would be tram from my last train station to the SCK-CEN facility. I also know the tram system will be similar to that of France.
I just hate the stress of traveling. But I want to see Belgium too.

Again, thanks for your time
You are welcome

Hi, thanks for the information here. Just a question on student visa application. The VSF website says apply as soon as possible but the mail accompanying KU Leuven admission letter (For September 2021 Bachelor degree) says apply within 3 months of departure date. Looks confusing. I known the three months thing usually applies to Schengen tourist visa applications. Any opinion on this please?

Applying 3months to departure is the ideal thing.

Has Belgium started granting study visas again? Because I read somewhere that they stopped receiving visa application due to the pandemic

Hmmmmm.
I dont know where you saw that mail but if you are ready to apply, please submit your application and it's going to be treated.

Greetings,

I am new here. I really appreciate everyone that have contributed to this thread so far.

Please I will like to get some clarity on document legalization.

1. Does the medical certificate require legalization at MOFA and/or the embassy since it will be sealed?

2. Can I get my school to send an official transcript directly to the embassy since I have only the student copy (my uni does not give official copy by hand)?

3. Do you know if one can get the police report ready even 2 months before visa application date? I learned that the police character report is valid for only three months.

I will be grateful if more light is shed on this. Thanks.

Welcome to this group.
1. Medical certificate is not to be legalised. It's always sealed by the issuing hospital and you submit it with your application. Never break the seal to authenticate or legalise.

2. You can but you have to go to the embassy to collect it for authentication first which might be a complex issue for you. I would advise that you look for any organisation around you, lias with the administrator or manager, get it sent there and go pick it. It is always easier like that.

3. Yes, you can but your police report expires after 3months. If it's not going to expire before submitting your application, why not!

Hey bro.
I just discovered this thread. I will be coming to Belgium in few months time to complete my internship.
The internship is in SCK-CEN in Mol.
How's the covid situation? I have read few things about Belgium on this thread.
Do you guys have a Nigerian student community in Belgium? I would love to explore Belgium, visit Netherlands and Germany.
How's the transport situation there?

Glad to hear about your travelling.
The covid situation is improving but we are still on lockdown.
We do have like informal Nigerian Student community but not functioning because of the pandemic..
Belgium to Germany or Netherlands is like 1hr or max 3hrs by train depending on your location. But you have to present negative covid result to enter.
We use bicycle.majorly in some parts of belgium and there are trams, buses, taxi and train. It depends on the one you want. They are all good

Please my people I need your help. I want to apply for Belgium type D visa with my family. But the question is will I secure job in Belgium first before we apply or until I get to Belgium before i start looking for job?

Are you going to study or to work?
If to study, you have to prepare present your admission letter or something to show that you are truly admitted.
If its going to be on work ground, then you have to present letter of employment to show that you are entering Belgium on purpose.

I think you'll need GRE and TOEFL for better chances. I will start researching and gathering of information on them soon.

You actually dont need GRE except your focus is US or Canada.
Basically GRE is for those countries and PhD applicants
