You mean those less than One Thousand Protesting Citizens, out of about 140M Russians, represents a good percentage or all Russians, not supporting the invasion? shocked huh huh
Where did you learn this sort of Statistical Deduction?
grin grin

My problem with people on Nairaland is that they dont examine what they are really trying to argue about, they just launch an argument, just like that!
First, look at the definition of the phrase TRAITOR and see if it matches the behaviour of Navalny, that l itemised above.
What do you think Americans will call any American who aligns himself with a Russian Govt, against the American Govt?
A Hero?
grin grin

Anyway, Nairaland is an all-comers affair, let us just enjoy the discussion and have a good laugh about it.
You can have a sane and calm discussion (argument even) without being insulting
I enjoy engaging with people who are intelligent and i was very interested in this discussion.
But alas, the Nairaland insult syndrome just has to bear its head.
Cheers bro
Foreign AffairsRe: UK Government Lobbying Hard To Cut Russia Off From SWIFT by vivaciousvivi(f): 6:10pm On Feb 25, 2022
TruthSocial:
It’s just so funny that the Uk want to kick Russia out of swift, something Europeans don’t want, the scale of what that would do to the European financial markets and economy will be bad and bad for Russia too no doubt, but we should know if we haven’t that Russia has one of the best money laundering networking in the world, Latvia-Estonia-the tax havens and so on. Kicking Russia out is Russia getting close to china and reducing the dollar power as the reserve currency, nothing scares America more than that. What does kicking Russia out of swift mean for crypto, Russia can then embrace it and in turn maneuver the sanctions. Kazakhstan is like the number two btc mining country in the world, a very close ally of russia, russia is responsible for the security of that state, they can use the crypto power and infrastructure over there to evade the swift system too. Besides it is further escalation which will make Russia retaliate as well.

Peace needs to rain, what so hard in Ukraine saying we will not join NATO, and why is American pushing Ukraine to join Nato against the wish of other other European countries. America will push Ukraine to a point of no return if they don’t back peddle before it’s too late
Too much wisdom is worrying you.

....These guys need to understand that Putin is not a black man.. No be emotions dey control am. Before he sent his troops into Ukraine the baba don already weigh the pros and the cons.. There's nothing that the West can do to stop him.

Even the west gan would do same to their neighbors if they tried to join forces with Russia, China or North Korea
The way you guys keep putting this man on a pedestal is strange to me.
He is still a man an afterall, prone to mistakes and not all risk analysis are fully taken into account especially those to do with innate human nature. He is no demigod
Even Hitler overestimated his capacities

Russia has been under Sanctions from the late 90's! undecided
It has been affecting the Oligarchs and the West has been hoping they would revolt against their President since that time.
But what most of you dont factor into it is that these Oligarchs too, have information, they see what happened in countries like Irq, Syria and Libya and they know that America/West cannot be trusted and they act only in their own selfish interest,.

Ofcourse, there will be selfish traitors like that Navalny in Russia and Guand-something in Venezuela who are ready to sell-out their country to the West, as long as their Bank Account is loaded.
Economic sanctions that were not as extreme as these.
Plus the citizens have clearly demonstrated they do not support such an unprovoked form of attack.
I beg your pardon, Navalny a traitorhuh He is a Russian Hero! A patriot that has shown he and all he believes in - A Russian nation devoid of dictatorship by a devious and manipulating (albeit Brilliant) mad man!
Bro, come on!

Nonpartisan1:
At the end of the day Russia will become a pariah state cut off from the rest of the world. His people will revolt when all these economic sanctions by the West start weighing in.

Putin will never come out of this war the same again.

The LOSS:
1.NATO is going to beef up security with major deployments to its members bordering Russia.

2. Russia is going to be cut off from the rest of the world-trust me Russia is no China, the latest sanctions will bite very hard at home.

3. Many countries that have been reluctant to join NATO will freely come out now with applications, seeing how it was easy for Russia to invade a non member country.

4. When the latest Economic sanctions starts weighing in like say, 5months from now. The Russian massess will troop out in the streets and force a major regime change.

This is, I repeat a foolish war that Putin have chosen. And this could undo him in many ways..

Meanwhile, in other news: [b]Here is Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko at the battlefront defending his country.
Very well said.
I believe 5 months is even too long.
The Russian Oligarchy may be the first to verbalize their lack of goodwill in Putin's government with time.
And like you rightly said, this has unwittily made it clear to former Soviet Union countries on the need to ally themselves to NATO and even the G7 for future protection
Interestingly, Putin could also be betrayed right from the heart of the Kremlin by his own generals.
On the flip side, NK has been able to sustain their isolated state quite brilliantly. Russia may imbibe such model
Let's watch and see how this plays out.

This is such a shameless setup!
Playing mind games with the Ukrainian military.
They should see through this smokescreen and rise above it - even if this may look like a losing battle.
the problem now is that he has sown the seed of deceit and treason in the hearts of some.
If the military is divided, then a united front fighting a common enemy is now undermined

Russia is not invading because Ukraine is trying to join NATO. Russia is simply trying to rebuild old Soviet union. This war was inevitable no matter what Ukraine did
I would say the Threat of war was inevitable and not the war itself. If Ukraine had enough foresight to speed up NATO alliance, I sincerely doubt Putin would have gotten this far. Recall Macaron has stated that NATO equally posed Nuclear capabilities.

SeunTheOwner:
Ukraine joining NATO is not an excuse for putin invation. Which of cause does not pose security threats to Russia. NATO nations isn't ready for a nuclear war hence will not for any reason attack Russia.
EuroNATO nations are getting gas/energy from Russia why would they want to cause a security threat to her.

If Ukraine wants to sabotage Russia economy, it could have destroyed all gas pipe line that pass underneath or through its border.

Putin invading Russia is an act of bullying and if this is not stop, putin will turn himself into a Bogeyman to Eastern Europe
God bless you!

Clearly he didn't do enough.
He had no idea that Japanese (an Axis) mindless attack on Pearl Harbor would invite such ramifications that would bring America into the war with such force.

Where will this end?

Putin knows this already. He's calculating that even if Ukraine doesn't fall, he will succeed in annexing two more regions of ukraine
Ukraine will fall.
It's such a pity that one can make such a bold and unprovoked attack to another country and the entire world decides to watch and talk about economic sanctions in 2022. Putin has anticipated this and has definitely hedged himself already to an extent.
How has these sanctions stopped North Korea in the past? Iran? Its BS!
This shows that virtually no country in Africa is safe

They are on their own....
Foreign AffairsRe: Biden: The U.S Will Not Send Troops To Defend Ukraine Against Russia by vivaciousvivi(f): 9:11pm On Feb 24, 2022
GreatrAnalyst:
Looks like a foolish decision, especially to many ignorant ones right here, but that's actually what's best to do.

1. Not all wars or battles are yours to fight. There are wars you win by avoiding them. He who fights and runs will live to fight another day.
2. The war of 21st century is war of supremacy of economy. Any world power that goes into war these days won't recover economically for decades to come. Germany is still paying for the foolishness of Adolf Hitler for plunging the world into WW2
3. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia doesn't concern US directly. Ukraine has never joined NATO officially, so US will be on her own, to go headlong into war with bloodthirsty Putin. The best bet would be NATO against Russia(had it been Ukraine already belongs to NATO), not US all alone.

Nuff said...
I had so many questions earlier and your write up answered most of it. Interesting viewpoint
Foreign AffairsRe: Borris Johnson: We Will Cripple Russia's Economy by vivaciousvivi(f): 9:41am On Feb 24, 2022
hakeem4:
Its a lie UK cannot cripple it.

Russia supplies about a third of Europe's gas, so the effects work both ways. Gas prices are already soaring higher than they've been in many decades, causing an energy crisis. Russia could make the prices insanely expensive or just simply cut supply to Europe, causing a massive economic problem for all of Europe. Russia wouldn't be the only one to suffer big economic problems.
But on the flip side, Russia may lose the export revenue from the EU and United Kingdom if they go that route.
Note that while you say they would "easily" sell to other regions, International trade isn't that easy or swift.
Terms of Trade have to be identified and agreed upon, it also may not be as economically viable to sell to countries / regions located farther areas geographically, countries will need to determine their balance of trade to determine if it may cause deficits down the line, whole regions may also be hesitant especially if they have more to lose from the West and the EU by aligning themselves to "the enemy" etc.
At the end of the day, Russia may equally lose
