Biggysmalls919: exactly a month ago same thing happened to my ralative that arrived from the USA. Her money got missing after she was waiting to collect her luggage fron the belt. It was obvious it was the security or touts that did it. The immigration officers could only watch her cry and said sorry by the time we got there to pick her up. Shame to this nation

passengers are advised to keep their cherised personal belongings of value (Passport, cash, credit cards, wallets/purse, laptops, etc) in their hand lugguage. so your relative is to blame.

what is the fellow doing with $20,000.00 cash, he should be probe too.

how was the money removed from his bag, he must me a reckless and careless fellow. your hand lugguages are scanned in full view of other passengers, and only opened by the bag's owner when something is fishy.

It is the bag's onwers responsibility to always eyeball their bags prior to entry/leaving the scanning machine
Romance / Re: Her Pastor Said She Should Not Marry Me by vizion: 10:16am On Jul 01, 2012
olalekan1: Even though we met some months ago through fb, I loved her and want her to be my wife. But as at that time, her heart was broken by her ex when they were about to wed, so I agree it was a difficult moment for her but she accept to date but she kept saying she could'nt wait for about 4 years after which I know by Gods grace I will be working. All of a sudden she started misbehaving like shouting when I call her, shunning my calls and raising lots of insult on me. I suspected she wants to leave me so pressurize her to talk until she told me her pastor said that we can not get married to each other. This is a girl that said she may kill me if I betray her. Please I need advice.

Kindly clarify, as I don't understand. Are you telling a girl that was about getting married, that she should wait a minimum of four years (i.e 2016), to see IF you may be ready to marry her?

how old are you, and what is your present status (certificates obtained, financial levels, etc)?

how old is the lady in question, and what is her present status(education status, finanical, etc)?

Mavor: This thread makes sense. Maybe you guys can expand it further by giving some money saving tips. Let me start. I only leave the house with N800-N1000 every day. And I leave my ATM behind. I dont own a car and dont plan on gettin one since I intend leaving the country next yr. I get a lift to my work,so basically the money covers lunch and t-fare back. Sometimes I skip lunch.

have u tried eating (1-0-1), eat at home before you go to work and when you come back in the evening, you could save some extra month.

Family / Re: Couples Please Encourage Me With Your Financial Struggles Stories. by vizion: 8:38pm On May 21, 2012
Ruthabokoku: Hello guys,

New user here but has a burden.
I have been married to my hubby for a couple of years, we live abroad and things are not and have never been rosy.
Since I married him we have always struggled. We both have jobs but just manage to get by each month. We have loads of plans but never have excess cash.
He is a wonderful man and I love him so much but he is quite old and I am getting scared that things might keep going on like this.
Sometimes I think it is spiritual because this is what they call hand to mouth with no spare cash.
I would like to know if anyone has been through or is going through this?. How did you overcome this? share your testimony to encourage me to keep hoping. Please give advise on what we can do.

P.s I have a masters degree, I do small business with my job. Hubby is hard working and can do anything for his family but without a great job. We have 2 kids and do everything together including planning our finances.

During my IT days, i was though by my boss to always pay myself when i get money. By this he meant i should keep aside a percentage of my earnings.

things to remember

1) your income next month may double, but if ur not careful ur expenditure may triple still leaving you in deficit

2) you may suffer shortfall in income next month, but if you plan well would still get by (just trying to say u can still make a savings from your current income)

3) those who spend money without thinking, got to that stage by thinking how they spent their initial earnings
Romance / Re: 70-year-old Virgin Says She’s Finally Ready For Love. (Pics included) by vizion: 11:55am On May 16, 2012
sigba: Lol, saw this and thought it cool to share it on NL.

70-year-old virgin Pam Shaw says she is ready for love.
The 2005 film "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," grossed nearly $200 million worldwide based on the premise of a man who went without sex into midlife. But one real-life woman has managed to stay a virgin up to her 70th birthday .
That could be about to change. "Now's the time. I'm ready to takethe plunge for the right bloke," Pam Shaw tells the Sun."My standards are still very high, though. I'm hoping to bag a tall, dark and handsome millionaire."
Shaw says she doesn't believe in sex before marriage and has beentoo busy with her career as a cabaret dance to settle down. "I feel I am ready to give marriage a go and maybe go to bed with a man," she said. "You are never too old for anything. Just look at Joan Collins."
According to worldwide statistics, the average person retains his or her virginity until 17.3 years of age . A 2010 Yahoo! reader survey found similar numbers, with readers giving an average age of 17.5 before having sex for the first time.

The paper notes that despite her voluntary lifelong abstinence, Shaw goes by the stage name"The Sexational Pam," and once fraternized with male sex symbolslike "It's Not Unusual" singer Tom Jones and James Bond actor Roger Moore.

"Tom Jones was very good looking and we used to chat occasionally before I went on stage as the opening act," she said. "In the late 60s we performed together. There was only a curtain separating our dressing areas."
Shaw says she lived with her mother until she passed away at the age of 97 in 1995. Ironically, Shaw says men have often made incorrect assumptions about her sex life, or lack thereof, because ofher career in the entertainment industry.
"I've never really been intimate with a man, just a bit of kissing. I had a sexy stage name and dressed sexy but that was all for my career," she said.

I guess thats why shes not hooked a man all this while grin grin grin

Ladies beware cool tongue !!!

Politics / Re: Can A City Be Commercial And Serene In Nigeria? by vizion: 8:35am On May 16, 2012
A particular city cannot be commercial and Serene at the same time, its just like being hot and cold at the same time, no city in the world is commercial and serene at the same time.

definition of Serene: Calm, peaceful, and untroubled; tranquil, quiet, and composed:

Definition of Commercial, mercantile refer to the activities of business, industry, and trade. Commercial is the broader term, covering all the activities and relationships of industry and trade.

To those how have actually travelled out of Nigeria, and are aware of the reality on ground (not the TV fairtale), how many of the high streets are serene??
Romance / Re: What Do Girls Bring To The Table, Really? by vizion: 10:03am On May 15, 2012
Kevin_II: And I'm very serious about this.
I asked this girl I'm seeing (who's quarter to being dumped really) that question and hear what she said:

1. Sex, good sex - biatch pls. I can get better with a love peddler
2. Mother to your children in future - in which life? shocked shocked
3. Take care of your home - i have been a bachelor for 3 years. I think i have done a good job taking care of my home.

At this point she goes silent. What else? I ask. What else do you want? She retorted, matter of factly. In my mind I smh. She has no clue, this one. How sad. Meanwhile we had spent the last hour having her list all she expects from me.

So ladies in the house what do you really bring to the table in your relationships? I am waiting for the answer that will make me take notice, not the usual ramblings from the usual suspects. Over to you

Knife and fork, and eating bowls if they belive ur plates are too small,

afterall for proper division of labour, the guy cooks and the girl eats,
Romance / Re: My Room Mate's Boyfriend And I! by vizion: 8:25am On May 15, 2012
lashontae: Lol. I used to have a crush on this guy when I was sharing a flat with his girl. Cool guy, got swag, fresh n clean...everything I wanted in a guy, except that he was dating my witch of a roommate (now former-roommate).
Last Saturday, I ran into him as I was handling some travel stuff and it turned out, we're gonna be in the same city for a week, (I'm staying a week, he's staying longer).
When I sighted him, I was like 'Dayum, give me this guy for breakfast'!
He looked so so yummy! Lol!

And I also didn't miss the fact that this man was literally drooling over me.
Shon, he exclaimed, encasing me in a close hug. Where u been? Missed you! (well, he didn't use the exact words, but close enough, lol).

As a sharp girl and a naughty one too, I noted that the dude was really feeling the girl! Hmmn interesting, I said to myself....
He also told me he's on a break with ex-roomie and he doesn't think they're compatible.
I ain't gonna lie. I feel him too, I've done for a long time. Now, I'm here, unable to concentrate and occasionally glancing at the phone number he scribbled.
To meet up with him or not to?
I know what's gonna happen if I do. I want what's gonna happen if I do...I'm so so tempted but again, I'm a little bit hesitant. Because I really don't want to join issues with my former roommate who BTW is a sadistic witch!
Gosh!

@bolded

confirm that story, as guys are known to tell ladies sure false tales, to make the transition to the bed less of a moral burden.

It's correct and not a typo. The name is actually BOYEGA.

He played the lead role of Moses in the 2011 British teen sci-fi action film Attack the Block. . .and he did v. well. It got him some award nominations also.

Meanwhile, make I quick go read the book so I can measure the film against it when it comes out.

In my experience, no film has ever measured up to half of the book.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Militants Earns More Than Graduates by vizion: 3:39pm On May 14, 2012
28octo :

ur point exactly?

the ppl you call real militants are mostly the pawns carring guns, living in the creeks and fighting for a cause they cannot even define.

those eating the money u wish to get are the political jobbers masquerading as militant while lodging in Government house. when the militants where camped at Aluu in Port Harcourt, did you see Asari, or Tompolo there??

On the other hand, minimum wage by federal government is 18K, which is what the least staff (level 1) earns, the least graduate in government should earn more that 60K per month. The graduate who are lucky (let me not say sharp), get into the multinationals, the telecompanys, national Banks, etc, and even earn way more than that.

My point therefore is that some miitants are still languishing in their villages, which some graduates are residing at lekki, maitama,- it all depends on how they made use of there opportunities they had

Women can be very nasty when it concerns maltreating their house helps. Men really don't have time except their pr1ck is scratching them.

I know of a house help in my estate that wears the same cloths everyday. What does it cost to buy at least four good clothes for one's house maid. 7k is not to much.

I also know of a house-help that has a box of cloths but chose to where the same one every where, the madam of the house has threaten to burn the other clothes or take them back since the househelp don't what to wear them, but goes around making ppl feel he is being maltreated

Politics / Re: Nigerians Outshop Americans By 32% by vizion: 10:27pm On May 13, 2012
redsun: This survey is not talking about ordinary people. Like ordinary american that are living from pay cheque to pay cheque who will rather buy lay-away from payless and jcpenny than visit britain, they dont even know where britain is. But about the comfortable americans that can afford to waste their earnings on holidays and they buy most things as sorvenirs for visitng britain. While the chinese visitors are the upcoming china middle class that like to show off by buying named brands which chinese people are found of,just like blacks.

The african and middle east high spenders are mostly the very corrupt that steals their suffering people,s wealth and come to waste it britain, since they are stolen and plenty more from the looting coffers.

Britain is a not an ideal tourist destination for the Americans

.....The big question should be why is the Catholic church not allowing these men to have their wives and children, do they like all these sad stories dainting their image? These men are human and will forever have urges like human so why don't they be legally allowed to have spouses so that they can channel that energy good instead of affecting/ruining the lives of others with it.Only a person that knows in his/her heart that they want to dedicate their body and soul to the service of God should be allowed to do that in truthfulness not every person rushing to go be a reverend father and sister and make his mother and father proud and become the talk of the neighbourhood etc. The truth is sometimes bitter but the truth will always be the truth dearie.....

u should understand that becoming priest is optional and not madatory. So if you want to get married and have kids, then don't become a priest.

remember that religiously, sex outside marriage is regarded as sinful, and nowadays we have men and women, over 40years that have not married. are we suppose to change the gospel to accommodate them

we should give kudos to the catholic church for sticking to her guns unlike some new generation churches that are watering down the gospel to ensure that to grown the members (finacial base) such that even the devil would think he can make heaven without seeking God's forgiveness.

this should go to tell ppl that Uniport is not a school that awards grades anyhow

ppl who have never seen the school think that the degrees are cheap and any dullard can afford them.

have seen education in and outside the country, I can tell u that a serious Uniport graduate can hold the forte anywhere in the world.
