Please guys I also need some advice. 2 years ago when I came back to Nigeria after having my child, I used visa on arrival and was practically embarrassed at Nigeria when I went to pay for the visa on arrival. They kept claiming that visa on arrival must be paid with a foreign card, bearing the name of the person that needs the VOA

Now, concerning ETC, I don’t know which one to follow. We’re you stopped at the airport to pay again for ETC? Or did they just allow you pass with baby? Do you advice I go through ETC even after getting baby’s passport or what should I do? Just confused coz seems VOA is cheaper and could be paid in Nigeria coz the dollar rate isn’t smiling now because it’ll warrant dollars being sent to me from Nigeria . I need advice

If the passport you have is a Nigerian passport for the baby, you do not need ETC/VOA.

If you plan for visa on arrival, ensure you have a document to enable the baby board the plane, if not youRr baby would be denied boarding.

If you use ETC, make such you snap a picture of it when you submit at immigration at POE in Nigeria, as it would be required for baby’s passport in future.

Again, does anyone here resident in PH have an idea of where Port-Harcourt library is?. I'll appreciate your suggestions.

Have you tried Amazon?

you can ship to one of the Local couriers coy that would ship to Nigeria for you.

I'm still in shock on what transpired today, I was in the exam hall expecting an alert when the supervisor came in, I refused to keep my phone away, I just put it on vibration and pocketed it.

The answer booklets were shared, while I was anticipating the question paper, my phone vibrated, without thinking I withdrew the phone and checked my alert.

Before I could say "yessss" my HOD walked in and walked straight to me. He asked me to give him my phone.

My whole school year from year one flew before my eyes, I am counting days to graduation and this shiii just happened. I was dumbfounded as I meekly handed the phone over but I put it off first.

Bad belly folks were looking at me like "yes, him dey claim brilliant boy, but them don catch am today", luckily the supervisor did not notice what happened, or else I might have been sent out that moment, my HOD left, exams began.

Thirty minutes later, the exams chief supervisor came in with my phone, the man happened to be a die-hard mean fella. Immediately I sure him, I weak as my pen fell to the ground.

"Who was the person that was caught doing malpractice with his phone?" He asked the supervisor who was confused.

I knew I was doomed but obviously I couldn't risk my phone getting permanently seized in this buhari's era so I damned the consequences and raised my hand, everyone were looking at me and my impending doom.

The man must have been calmed by my baby face and small body because he smiled a little and asked me three times if I was truly cheating, I told him NO. He asked me to come to his office after the exams.

When he left I was shaking vigorously, I became the cynosure of eyes from the supervisor, especially one female staff that I was eyeing her big backside, my every move and turns were closely monitored. I felt bad though but I finished in time even though my paper was later seized earlier than expected when some olofofos were trying to dub from me.

About a dozen folks followed me to the man's office, they were ready to defend me at all cause if worse gets to worst.

Well the man put me on blast in front of some lecturers and cleaners, I kept apologising throughout, he finally gave the phone to me.

I thanked him humbly, a cleaner that was there told me to kneel down and greet him, I just ignored her like smoke.

Many things passed through my mind, how my four years would have been wasted, my parents would have put finishing touches to my disownment letter. I would have been termed a drop out, phew thank God oo

In a region of over 10million ppl, is this how we should be operating.

Something happened today in school, in my lecture room when my lecture was going on, i forgot to put m phone on silence instead i reduced the volume thinking i already put it on silence.

My ring tone is a banging one, erm this DBANJ new song "Emergency" chai it is a crazy something, whike the lecture was going on, that how my mummy called me, i know you people will be expecting itingle oooo and serching.

So that how my sweet mother called me and gosh am using a phantom 5, you know how crazy the speaker of that phone can be especially when a place is that quiet, nothing else was sounding except my lecturer and my phone.

As the call came in i heard "EMERGENCY EMERGENCY THEY NEVER SAW ME COING THROUGH" immediately i knew it was over cause the leacturer could trace wia the unique sound was coming from and he asked me to come out wit the phone.. and i told him i was sorry that it was my mum that called, then agreely he asked me to go back to my seat but i should see him in his office after the class.

then when i got to see him in is office, he was like dont let that rubbish that happened today happen again ooo, and i was like yes sir, then he funnyly(if dia is any english like that) asked me what the name of the phone, i told him it is a TECNO PHANTOM 5 sir and he said are you serious? i said yes sir, he said what are the specs and i showed him all the specs.

My lecturer was surprised, he was like a china phone with all this good qualities, he then asked me for the price and i told him 82,000 lol, immediately he transfered the sum of #82,000 to my account to get it for him berore coming to class the next day..

And hope you people not thinking that am a theif sha lol.. the phone is 62k in 3cHub at ikeja, so 82000 - 62000 = #20,000 messelinius lol...
I pray he never finds out, so i will not end up getting an extra year lol

Why don't y return the balance of 20K to the lecturer, and tell him the phone price has dropped.

I am not a Doctor, but would say that ppl should understand that treating of patients requires funds. and if accident victims are treated and hospitial is not able to recover their funds, it is likely the hospital would no longer be there to even treat patients how are willing to pay for the services.

I would suggest that goverment should make it compulsory for each intercity transporter to have insurance cover for all passengers, so in the event of an accident, the hospital is assured of claiming the money from the insurance company. Passengers should be willing to pay and increment in fare for this insurance cover.

vehicle owners should also stop purchasing over-the-counter third party issurance.

Fratello,

Our reserves were already above 34billionbbls, which with current productiim rates can last us up to 40+ years, we have several explored projects that we could phase upwards to development and production. And dont forget that for these existing projects the lifetime of a reservoir exceeds 20 years in a great many cases.
My point if you didn't get is: why the rush for exploring the Chad at a time like this, when we should be positioning ourselves for the rise expected from Q4 2016. Considering that even with this downturn, technologies is what a lot of companies are expecting to do the magic, and reserves is a function of Technology and economics. I do hope you get my argument, the budget is already out there we may not be able to change what's on ground but at least we can still air our opinions like we did with the cbn months ago before we found ourselves where we are today.

In this downturn every company is trying to go leaner and more efficient by trying to allocate resources to the most important projects, and the drive is towards production volumes except the already efficient producers who have the luxury of exploration.

Pls do not forget that a lot of Nigerians work for the exploration companies too.

So put a hold on the exploration activities is not also good for the economy, as this ppl would be out of jobs and would not have funds to spend, which is detrimental to economical growth.

Also, cost of exploration at this moment would be cheaper than when oil prices are higher.

If you look at that 2014 Thisday article, 4.6 trillion was generated in a year oil prices were above $100 for the first half of the year. That 4.6 trillion is 1.4 trillion less than we are planning to spend in year we are expecting oil prices to be less than $40. It takes some optimistic assumptions to expect that those gaping revenue holes will be filled.

What is even more chilling is recent revenue collection stats in the post-GEJ era, if revenue collection remains lacklustre now how are we supposed to believe it will improve markedly in the coming months?

PS: For those in the know, are those FIRS stats after states and local governments have collected their 48% share of revenue?

See attached for the 2015 figures for non-oil task for Q1, Q2, & Q3.

I believe the figures could be added since the PPT for Q1 is higher than the corresponding figure for Q2

cummulative for non-oil tax for the 9 months of the year would be in excess of 1.8trillion.

if government can stop excessive leakages she MAY be able to meet her target in that regards

It's the projected non-oil revenues that I find wildly optimistic. 2016 is only a few weeks away and so far we are not seeing any substantial increase in non-oil revenues which will justify the revenues projection being made for next year.

What might save us is a rally in oil prices which could happen next year but that is a big gamble. My view is that this is budget of irresponsibility.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says it generated N1.97 trillion in revenue in the first half of this year (2015).

If my Sai Buhari wants to fight corruption truly and recover billions of dollars let him start from those below;

1. Obasanjo
2. IBB
3. Abdulsalami Abubakar

Even former vice presidents and governors that are dancing under the umbrella of APC.

It is wrong for ppl to ask PMB government to probe beyond GEJ government. If you knew that goverments before GEJ where corrupt, you should have told GEJ to probe them. don

Likewise whenever a new president comes to take over from PMB, I would not call on him to probe all the government from 1914. I would expect him to probe his immediate Predecessor (PMB).

BTW,

when Sanusi tenure as CBN's governor was probed, nobody asked why other CBN's governors from the time of Paul Ogwuma where not added to the probe.

Yea very true. Being a northerner who has been living in the north since childhood, I completely understand the point you made.

However, lets give the O.P the benefit of doubt that his family's case doesnt fall within the situation you raised.
Considering that the supposed breadwinner of the house(the dad) is late and the mom is sick.
We all know that some sicknesses are capable of running dry an individual's entire investment; and thats where family support comes in. Remember no man is an island; thus, certain emergency circumstances do require all hands on deck for a headway to be achieved.
Infact just last week, we were sadly informed that a colleague of ours and his wife both died in a ghastly motor-accident on their way to their hometown. And this couple have 3 small children(the eldest barely 13). So you can only imagine the fate of these kids cos relatives can really be unpredictable.
Note that these couple are doing financially well in their respective fields. Thus, the wealth of any family can be lost unexpectedly at anytime. That is why we do need each other.

@Bolded

Parents with young kids should look towards taking out insurance to cover situations like this

The times of leaving your kids to to be catered for by relatives, without funds for that purpose may turn your kids to househelps.

As Brugge's has said, parents should give birth to the number of kids they can care for, or else, the society would be worse off for it.

You have spoken well. Organisation, consistency, good business ethics will pay of. Its a pity even Ghana can get their act together but in Naija it seems like its everyman for himself. In this sort of instance, one needs corporation and the body of fruit sellers need to come together and organize themselves abi na from one farm person dey source all these food items? It will not work like that. Well i'm not too shocked at Ghana because i know they have been supplying foreign stores abroad (UK and co) and those guys even have higher standards. No kidding.

Most organisations lack that here in Nigeria. Think of a million times someone has told you come today and they have failed. Think of even the small welder, tailor, market woman and co that has told you that a million times here. It seems like it is ingrained in our culture. Thats it for you. One must be ready for business with these guys. Thats how it works. I beg you oga, i use God beg you will not work. I feel your statement up there! You really hit the nail in the coffin!

Very True.

When you go to shops in the stores that sell African stuffs in the UK, how many Nigerian stuffs do you see there.

The plantains and yams there are all seems to come from the carribeans countries, and these do not even compare to quality we have here

if you give the so-called Nigerian business man a contract, he would want you to give him the funds to run around to do the business, he would later on complain that he cannot deliver because of one issue or the other, but he'll forget that the reason you are paying him such high mark-up is that you needed someone to sort out that problem for you.

U can set as much as 70 6inches blocks( but I prefer less) with a bag of cement.

Blinding is actually different from actual footing, but not to pretend I don't understand what you are refering to cos most of my own workmen self actually call it blinding.

So for fence we don't usually bother ourselves with engineering standard practice because its not expected to carry extra load. D major factors that determine our footing is actually the soil type.

I will say use 1:3:6 and make it 2 to 4 inches thick. Dat is for every head pan of cement put 3 headpan of sand and 6 headpan of granite. But if ur ground water level is high things might have to change.

Assuming 60 by 120 feet land and 4 inch thick footing you will be needing. 21 bags of cement , 5 tons of sand (u need less but dats d smallest truck available u just add the remaining to that which you need to set the blocks) and 5 tons of granite.

For setting assuming u want to set 3000 blocks as fence just buy additional 10 tons of sand and 45 bags of cement.

I just gave out all d information cos I don't know d intended use.

Thanks

well a standard motar mix is ratio 1 : 5 ( 1 headpan of cement to 5 headpan of sand). but over here in our country we go as high as 1 : 8

also for 9 inches block one bag of cement is naturally expected to set 30 blocks. but we also see people setting as high as 50 blocks with a bag.

i dont fully understand your last question. you can please rephrase it to help me understand.

let me rephrase pls

how many 6 inches blocks should be set with a bag of cement.

what is the ratio for "sharp sand" to "3/8 Sand" to "Cement" used for blinding the foundation for a fence.

Thanks again

Actually d prices he gave you for each material are fair to me. But not sorry to say this. Your building will be of low quality

First of all d guy is planning to use just 2000 blocks for the foundation of 2flats ( since its 2 down 2 up) if my calculations are right it means he will only be digging into the ground by just one or one and half feet. Dats bad. People do it. But its bad construction and also u should try to be atleast 2feet off ur natural ground level ( cos of other works). Dat numbers of block can't get u dat level.

2. He has plans to set 100 blocks with a bag of cement. Pls don't allow him to do dat. Don't be penny wise and pounds foolish.

3. I recomend a minimum of 16mm bars for column (pillar) reinforcements. Thr is a way to arrange 12mm bars dat it will be equal to d strength that 4 16mm bars will give u but seeing the guy is already planing to use 100 blocks to a bag of cement I am guessing he will also use just 4 12mm bars in the columns (pillars)

He is nice to you on d prices. Except 4 cement you can get dat 4 less

But you will be building a serious low quality and unsafe house

I dint even see d 6inch block b4. Ar u sure u called an Engineer?

pls how many blocks should be set with a bag of cement.

what is the ratio for sand to 3/8 to cement for foundation.

Religion / Re: How did the White get the Black to believe A White Will Fly Down To Save Him? by vizion: 10:30pm On Jul 07, 2015
ROSSIKE:
How did the white man get the black man to believe a white man was going to fly down from the sky to save him and take him to heaven? That the Creator himself is white, with a white son, white mother, white prophets etc?

What jazz did the whites use on us?

In all our powerful, ancient societies - Egypt, Nubia, Benin, Oyo, Ghana, Ashanti, the Igbo republican states, Kanem, Zulu, Shona etc, God and his deities were always portrayed as black. Some of those kingdoms predated European states and christianity by thousands of years, and clearly got on just fine under the notion of a black God. What happened? How come most of us today see white entities in our mind's eye when we envision the Supreme Being and/or those associated with him?

What's happened to us?

The reason lies with us.

...... and you are oblivious of Amaechi v. I.N.E.C. (No.3) (2007) 18 NWLR (Pt.1065) 2
(2007) 7-10 S.C. 172, where the Supreme Court said that the Candidate of the PDP at the Eections was Ameachi not Omehia? If Omehia in the eyes of the Law was not a Candidate how would he be a Governor?
You also did not read Omehia vs Ameachi, where the Court of Appeal said it is bound by the principle of stare decisis. Wike has bitten more than he can chew.
You also did not read Awuse vs Omehia Suit No: CA/PH/EPT/8/08 where the court of appeal said thus
"During the pendency of the Appellant's petition, the Supreme Court in a unanimous judgment which was delivered on the 15th October, 2007 in an appeal between RT. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi v (1) Independent National Electoral Commission (2) Celestine Omehia, (3) Peoples Democratic Party and Ors. (2008) 5 NWLR (Pt.1080) 227 held that Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi was the PDP's candidate at April, 14th, 2007 Governorship election in Rivers State and not Celestine Omehia. The Supreme Court therefore ordered Celestine Ngozichim Omehia to vacate the Government House with immediate effect for Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi. The order was complied with and Amaechi was sworn in as the Governor of Rivers State after Celestine Omehia vacated the Government House. The effectual post mortem of the judgment of the apex court therefore heralded that Celestine Ngozichim Omehia was never either the PDP candidate nor did he ever contest and talk less of winning the said questioned governorship election held on the 14th April, 2007. Consequent to the foregoing therefore Celestine Omehia brought an application to have his name struck out from the appellant's petition. ....
The tribunal after hearing both sides granted the application and struck out the Respondent's name. The decision in which the Respondent's name was struck out is therefore the subject matter of the first appeal."

WHICH LAW YOU READ SEF? SLEEPING ON THE BED LAW?

Thanks for this piece to enlighten folks

If you notice, the ppl celebrating this action, are just biased. This can be seen where they claim the removal of Omehia was roundly done by an 'evil' Ameachi. While they have forgotten that Omehia was not removed by Ameachi, by the supreme court of Nigeria, chaired by 3 learned Judges.
