a man said and i quote "Don't show your generosity to me from another mans pocket." If 2face rejected the gifts from the governor, or donated them immediately to a proper charity in the state, it would have gone a long way to tell the governor not to give away states money as gifts, and shame upcoming artist who would accept such gifts in future.

BTW, with all the money 2face has made, i would think he could afford those gifts for himself, so why sell himself short.

Health / Re: Stop Taking Drugs With Soft Drinks, Expert warns by vizion: 7:48pm On Mar 11, 2013
TUMIC: Ilorin - A pharmacist, Busayo Idowu of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Ilorin
Teaching Hospital (UITH), warned on Saturday that taking drugs with beverages such as soft drinks could have adverse effects.
In an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, Idowu said that drugs, if taken with soft drinks might affect the absorption of the drugs. The expert noted that most soft drinks were acidic, which could decrease the anti bacterial action of tetracycline as they contain
carbonates. Idowu warned further that such acidic drinks
when combined with drugs could cause adverse reaction to patients
.
According to him, absorption of some drugs such as aspirin, ketoconazole and phenytoin
could be affected also when taking with acidic beverage. He added that such drugs were best absorbed at highly acidic levels when taken orally.

"Acidic beverages delay the absorption rate and action of Erythromycin”, he said. He advised that drugs should preferably be used with water as it had the properties capable of eliminating unwanted effects.
I word is enough for the wise.

NAN
http://nigeria.news24.com/National/News/Stop-taking-drugs-with-soft-drinks-expert-warns-20130310

firstly, the time the drugs and soft drink spends in the mouth is hardly up to 10 seconds. The stomach where the drugs first goes to has a pH of 1.0-3.5, which is more acidic than most soft drinks which is less than 5.5. so does the soft drink really make any difference to the medication we take?

secondly, most tetracycline drugs are encapsulated, with the active ingredient inside the capsule, this means that it takes a long time for the drug to be absorbed into the bloodstream, or react with the system. on the other hand, soft drinks are liquid and are easily adsorbed and excreted from the system so does this make any difference??

PS, i'm not an expert, but would like to learn

some chase girls, some indulge in sport activities, some party and drink, some religious activities, some other forms of social activities (AISEC, Jaycees, state/LGA association, kegites etc...), and some cult activities.

which ever of the above association you join is a reflection of who you are. If you have good family upbringing, then you know which side of the divide you fall in.

Blame the Government for this.

If only schools were serious with lectures, tests, assignments, pop-quiz and Examinations without bribery, blocking-of-courses, sorting of courses and other such malpractices, where student go time time to dey do cult activities.

Fix the education system homes, and cultism will slowly die off..

It is the responsibility of Parents to train their children properly, not the government, and definitely not the lectures/teachers in the primary/secondary/university.

How many time did I call you, Damilola damoche has contributed a lot to Nigerian music industry, he hit the industry in 2011 with obotore, obotoshe and he did collabo with zeeworld and skailey, he inspired the bad boys that they can get a better life and he enrolled in school despite street life and musics bang setting good example to the street boys who don't believed in school. The only regret was he may be part of the cultist and he will probably be forced into it. Even if you enter that Ojo campus, you will join them with your igbo tribalism heart. You may even be their leader

If someone have big names before entering school, or you are wealthy and if you drinks regular at school bar, you will be forced into cult. Damoche perform show every time and he is not a poor guy, he is loved and well know but regret he died this way.

Mobuch, because cause I don't want fight but peace, let the boy rest in peace.... I remember when cult guys hit me behind Lasu because I was disturbing one yeye girl, I was told to remove my shoe and run, I run for like never before with my chest beating faster, I couldn't remember to go check my second batch if it appear on the name that day, I have to make sure additional 2 weeks pass

@bolded portion

he did not inspire them to achieve a good life (if he was a cultist), he only taught them that you could eat your cake and have it.

a proper good example would be letting them know that people should not be associated negatively with violence.

nagoma:

I see your point. But I think the emphasis is on maintaining an identity and lineage and adoption of husbands name or his surname means that the identity is lost. Even at the time of the prophet (SAW) fathers names were used but outstanding identities were emphasized. The wife of the prophet ( SAW) Maria who was an Egyptian Copte Christian was addressed as Maria al- Qibtiyya. Bilal IBM Rabah was addressed as Bilal Habashi to emphasize and not lose his Ethiopian roots. So was Salman Farisa who was frm Persia ( Iran). This continued even to our generations. Sheikh Ahmad Zaki Yamani whose father was Hassan Yamani was a full Saudi Citezen born in Mecca and the most famous oil minister of that kingdom but maintained the name Yamani to emphasize his Yemen Ancestory. This was what happened in Nigeria and you had persons like sheikh Adam al-Ilori, Aminu Kano , Abdurrahman Okene, Yahya Gusau all of blessed memory . Their attachment of fathers and often grandfathers and sometime name of places ensures the persons identity. Unfortunately for the women , the western culture has taken over and women identity is lost inside their husbands. In my view it should be an important issue in the emancipation of women and gender mainstreaming for women to stop being appendages.

Stop being appendage to who??

every human is a appendage to someone, even the man is an appendage of his father, emancipation of women has nothing to do with whose name she answers. let the woman answer her mothers and the man answer his fathers name so that there could be peace for the women folks. better still let there be no longer marriage, so that every one could be lord of themselves.

(Yu Youzhen hit it big, when according to the policies of requisitioning and redevelopment of land in China, she and her family were compensated with 21 apartments for the three 5-storey houses they had built in Huojiawan, after several years...most of which were rented out. She wasn’t the only one, of course, but she personally witnessed how fellow villagers squandered away their fortunes on gambling, drinking and even drug use, so she made it a goal to set a good example for her kids and act responsible.

this lady was probably a cleaner before she ran into her riches, go and ask the uneducated cleaners in you offices what they would do with a million Naira, and see if the money would exist after one year.

Most ppl on this site are just leaving in a fools paradise. This lady is laying a good foundation for her kids, and with her hard work, her lazy relations/friends would not have the guts to ask her to hand out her fortune to them.

Monzuur: [One Mr. Emmanuel Timothy has accused his wife of being responsible for his wife’s death.

The late Mrs Grace Emmanuel died on Monday after rejecting blood transfusion at the National Hospital in Abuja.

The aggrieved husband in an interview disclosed that his wife died “because her Jehovah Witness family rejected blood transfusion…they refused to consent to her having a blood transfusion.”

According to Timothy, his wife after having had a complicated miscarriage was made to undergo a surgery which further resulted into complications.

He said “When she complained of serious stomach ache, we rushed her to the National Hospital where the doctor said her stomach had to be flushed. But, before the flushing, they said she needed blood transfusion because she had already lost such much blood. However, she did not get the blood transfusion because her religion and family forbid blood transfusion. Over our dead body, it is better she dies than for her to take another person’s blood, they said to me.”

Timothy Emmanuel stated that he would be pressing charges against his late wife’s family.

“I have to press charges because they prevented my wife from receiving blood transfusion.

Until her death, the late Mrs Emmanuel was a police corporal assigned to the Wuse Zone 3 Police Division, Abuja.

He is the husband, how come he needed the Parents consent for the blood transfusion, who calls the shot in his home, this man should be charged with criminal negligence.

lots of the people that married in the 60's and 70's married young my your definition. Thank you cotton101. This is what I was saying when The Sun tabloid newspaper helped a 59 year old woman to launder a baby by claiming that she conceived naturally and gave birth after she had been told in the U.S. at 46 years that she had no viable eggs. Those Nigerians who suffer from hallelujah syndrome jumped up and down and apotheosized that God did it without asking questions. One Jidegirl was ranting about how possible it is.

All hands must be on deck to stop baby selling and abductions in Nigeria and the fairy tales that follow. Only in Nigeria would someone repeat same thing over and over and expect different results. To me if God is to reward you with a child, he needs not wait till you are 85 years old. Nevertheless, a baby is purchased or abducted and God's name is dropped and poof the hallelujah chorus reverberates and many people start to speak in tongues.

How can we mend the broken heart that this woman has to face? Meanwhile, somewhere in Nigeria or even west Africa some mischievous couple is celebrating one of those "immaculate conceptions" ciphered with God and that is all it takes.

Lately, I have seen newspaper picture of so called newborns that look like toddlers whom longstanding infertile couple celebrate and sing praises for miraculous birth. The chicanery must stop.

similar case, a lady in the UK had been told by her GP that she could not conceive by any means, the lady came to Nigeria was declared pregnant, and delivered of a baby. On returning to the UK, a suspicious GP ran a DNA on the child and declared that the woman was not the biological mother of the child.

feelgood: ABC bus (Abuja to PH) left yesterday morning by 7.15am. After some questionable stops, it got to Owerri by midnight - usually it should have arrived PH much earlier. Despite pleas by passengers that the driver should wait till day break before proceeding, especially as the route was not safe at that time of day, the driver ignored security warnings and proceeded at 1.30am 28th Dec. Within an hour from Owerri, they were ambushed and robbed by armed robbers who requested the passengers to march into the bush leaving their luggage behind. After the robbery operation and the departure of the robbers, the bus continued to PH and finally arrived about 5am - almost 24hrs after leaving Abuja.
The passengers narrated their ordeal to the ABC management and the driver's obstinacy that got them into the problem. Rather, the passengers were informed that there was nothing ABC could do and the driver was exonerated.
If you are travelling by ABC, esp on the east west route, you are on your own o. The purported insurance cover is a joke. ABC is a rip off and when the chips are down, customer service is thrown out of the window.

There should have been over 40 passengers in that bus. do you mean that they could not boycott the bus and insist that the journey be continued the next day??

What did the Driver/conductor/Company loss? they had no valuables, no luggage in the bus. People should learn to demand for what is right, as it was their lives and property at stake.

Lagos is booming but it seems to be in large part due to leading a private sector boom that's effecting the whole of africa.
The things accredited to fashola have been in large part private sector projects, even Eko Atlantic.

It's no wonder Lagos can brag about being the only state that doesn't need federal remittances, it's not doing much as far as spending compared to others states that are
renovating all their schools
giving free health care
giving free education
adding new roads
building industries
etc.

this doesn't mean i think Fashola is a bad leader, just an overrated one. Still a professional with vision though

it is not the business of government to be in business.

government should be able to provide an enabling environment for business to thrive.

Lagos has not done the best it can but relative to most states in the federation, she is doing well.
