JPTechnology: And you think Zain/Airtel is any better? Their 300-to-1000 is so dubious!
I was once on a plan that allowed me make a call for 11k per second. Later on I kept receiving their adverts asking me to recharge N300 to get N1000. After so much pestering, I decided to give it a shot, thinking I could make more calls with that package.
Ordinarily, with an 11k per second billing I could make 45mins call with N300 (N295 actually because of their daily N5 charge). So I thought to my self: 'instead of making 45mins call with N300, why not take advantage of the 300-to-1000 Naira package to get a whooping 2hours 30mins call?!' You go fear awoof naa.
So I recharged N300 and successfully subscribed to this new package. Then I decided to make a long call to a close friend of mine; only for my call to be terminated after 29mins. Initially,I thought it was a network failure. I had to redial the number. But it never connected again. To be sure, i had to recharge some amount on my line; lo and behold, my calls began to connect. I noticed this same trend on other occasions i subscribed for the 300-to1000 Naira package. Then I concluded that I'VE BEEN SCAMMED!!
I called their Call Center to find out how much is charged per min (or per second) on this plan. None, I mean NONE of the agents agreed to tell me. They all claimed they didn't know the call rates.
I was so puzzled because even with a call rate of 20k per sec, N300 will earn me 25mins. I could only imagine the call rate that earned me a paltry 29mins with the so-called N1000.
What a Rip-Off!! it's 40k/sec or N24/min |

Phones › Re: Reps Order NCC To Stop Unsolicited Caller Tunes, Messages by vodacom: 8:08pm On Aug 12, 2015 |
Tbillz: The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has been asked to halt some unfair practices being perpetrated by mobile telecommunication service providers in the country.
This directive was handed down on Wednesday by the House of Representatives, citing what the Honourable Members called the increasing cases of “unsolicited caller tunes” and text messages to subscribers by service providers as one example that the NCC must stop immediately.
The lawmakers also observed that the caller tunes and promotional text messages were not only unsolicited but also carried charges, noting that such charges were deducted from the airtime of subscribers in most cases without their knowledge.
so until it affect una, una non go talk for the mata huh .
Ali Madaki, APC-Kano, who moved the motion, told the House: “In the recent past, mobile telephone service providers in Nigeria started charging their subscribers for caller tunes unsolicited in contravention of the NCC Act, 2003.”
According to him, he once took his phone to a service provider’s office in Kano to have an unsolicited caller tune cancelled and his money returned, adding that a few days later, another embarrassing caller tune played on his phone.
“Mr. Speaker, they played a caller tune, ‘My Sweetie, my lover’.
as if you be saint , abeg senator talk beta tin jare
“It is immoral to do such a thing by sending such tunes to subscribers who did not subscribe to them,” Madaki added.
House Majority Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, in his own contribution, described such acts carried out by service providers as “harassment and invasion of privacy”, reminding the House that besides the powers conferred on NCC by the enabling Act, there were laws that guaranteed the privacy of Nigerians.
Citing section 37 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Gbajabiamila noted that when the privacy of individuals was invaded, they could seek the protection of the law.
“If you invade my telephone with unsolicited information, there should be a penalty for it,” he said.
Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, PDP-KOGI, drew the attention of members to another instance of “deceiving” subscribers to participate in promotions with promises of non-existing prizes.
hahaaaaa because you non win abi
“People buy airtime and soon realise that the entire money is taken. “This is illegal and it must stop,” he added.
The resolution was passed in unanimous voice vote at the session presided over by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

guyXander: After years of trying to use twitter, I finally came up with a thesis. Why did they make that thing? What's the purpose? Instagram is another useless app. I take picture, I post it, you comment, why?! Freaking useless. BBM is another one. Why haven't they fold up? The only useful thing in BBM is BBM channel. Telegram is a no go area. Viber: I get surprise when I see that app in someone's phone. 2go: We all agree on this one. I know right. Childish. You don't need Skype if you've got facebook messenger! It also does video call. WhatsApp call is freaking annoying! Facebook and Google will be relevant even in the next 20yrs. Yahoo should contact me. I know a good marketer. If you don't have a gmail account, I'll have to assume you are 5-10years older than me. Grand pa get an android. IPhone sucks in Nigeria. BlackBerry just keeps getting it wrong. Android is everything. Xender has rendered USB useless. Bluetooth™ should please start thinking of folding up. 5.0 (Lollipop) is damn great. Windows 10 better make sense. Galaxy s6 is the best phone that suits a Nigerian. Simple server rocks on laptop via hotspot from your phone. No need for modem. This is all my opinion. to counter some of your claims, these are the following issues address 1. the pitfall of windows is that they have less applications on their stores or probably developers find it difficult to develop apps because of the demand for android and other o.s. secondly it is kinda of difficult to operate unlike blackberry, android and other o.s 2. Samsung galaxy 6 is expensive and not affordable by an average Nigerian 3. Android is not everything as their o.s is prone to threat probably because of the AOSP 4. 2go is not childish as minors now use other social apps like bbm, whatsapp, facebook e.t.c 5. at the moment no app has that uniqueness of instagram and that is why some persons prefer it to apps like facebook 6. one unique thing about bbm is the privacy you enjoy. unlike whatsapp, anyone can just post anything to you before you block them 7. Nigerians are allergic to change that is why some of them do not use telegram. |

Some persons are ungrateful for what these Chinese companies or whatever they are called had done for us in Africa especially Nigeria. Do you realize that if not the likes of infinix, innjoo, tecno e.t.c , we would not have being able to afford to buy android phones.Take for example blackberry phones, they were very expensive that most girls had to sacrifice their bodies to get them. This is just cheap blackmail to spoil the market for innjoo phones because they are major threat to other phone brands in the market. Where was ncc when jumia and the likes were advertising their products huh? Have they suddenly waken up from their slumber to act fast on phones as if na today innjoo dey maeket. Is innjoo the only the product that requires banning huh? didn't a similar agency did likewise to tecno and it was all the media that they were substandard. If we are to go by standard, how many phones will make it? How many consumers will be willing to buy at exorbitant price?. do you realise that the cost of manufacturing these products are expensive coupled with the fact that the exchange rate of naira to dollar are high. Tell me how many Nigerians that would have being able to use android devices today if not the likes of innjoo, tecno e.t.c . Ncc should be ashamed of themselves to have awaited these long to track innjoo if at all they are at fault. the publication we just saw is called demarketing. trying to spoil their competitors product in order to gain their customers back(if am right in my marketing term). didn't we sell a post showing MTN condom whereas it was not true and MTN had to refute that immediately via their social media. please ncc do something about data because it is too expensive in Nigeria |

This problem keep on occurring from time to time, and it seems MTN is stylishly closing that plan..Because I see no reason why MTN zone will be static at 12jk/sec even at mid night. secondly una hand dey crash sote Many bloggers dey advertise say u fit use MTN zone call another network with different codes. Do you think MTN are happy about that even though 60% calls are routed to their network. Haven't wonder why Glo and Airtel tariffs to off net is a bit high while on net cheap inspite of ncc order on Glo and MTN to charge flat rates? Glo and Airtel decided to make off net expensive so as to make more profit since calls are routed to MTN numbers most times. MTN on the other had being smiling but since they discovered that off net calls where 4k/sec or even free, they had to stop it immediately especially when people became aware of it. for example using * at the end of the 11 digit makes me to call Glo line as at then @ 4k/sec or N2/min whereas inter connect rate stood at about N3.90.. The question is if you were MTN will you continue to allow this? |
Phones › Re: Globacom Please Step Up by vodacom: 6:25pm On Jun 05, 2015 |
This is one reason why foreign company does well in Nigeria yet we blame the government for negligence. Glo network is inconsistent in the following:: 1. call tariff e.g Glo bounce plan, Glo flexi(similar to Mtn zone and as a matter of fact, they introduced first before Mtn zone but today it's no where to be found) 2. poor customer care delivery::: you hardly get to them and peradventure you did, they rehearse a message to avoid solving your issue 3. Spending so much resource at movie stars and local league at the expense of their staff and customers 4. poor network quality in at least 25 states out of the 36 states. |
