Gunmen reportedly abduct commuters in Anambra

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a yet-to-be-specified number of motorists in Anambra State.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped near a checkpoint along the Nkwelle/Isiagu/Nibo Road.

According to a witness, the occupants of the two vehicles were kidnapped amidst gunshots.

The witness said that there had been several cases of kidnapping of motorists on that particular road despite security checkpoints.

One Festus Okafor, identified one of the victims as a former member of Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Okeke, from Agulu.

He added that the incident happened on Friday, October 14, 2022.

Blue Rail Line gets test-run today in Lagos State.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had said in August that the trains will be brought in from China in October and it will be test-run in late December.

However, it appears the project is ahead of schedule as the test-run began today, October 14.

Medical doctor shot d€ad in Anambra

A medical doctor identified as Dr. Okpe Casmir Ikechukwu was shot d€ad at Ichi girls bus stop in the Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday night, October 12.

A video recorded by eyewitnesses shows the lifeless body of the deceased on the driver’s seat of his Toyota saloon car with the number plate – DX 138-LSD. The deceased’s ID card showed that he was a staff member of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), as a Supernumerary Resident with registration number: NAUTH/RES/199/97.

One of the eyewitnesses present who recorded the video said

“This is someone who was shot dead by armed robbers this night. He is a doctor. He is Doctor Okpe Casmir Ikechukwu. He was shot dead at Ichi. His car is a Toyota Avalon, Golden colour. His plate number is DX 138-LSD.

He is at Ichi Girls Bus Stop in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. His people should come for him immediately please.”

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga told LIB that matter has been reported to the police. He appealed to eyewitnesses to come forward to give details of what transpired and added that their identities will be protected and each detail will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Soldier arrested for allegedly stealing ammunition and selling them to Boko Haram members and bandits

A serving Nigerian Army private; Emmanuel Iorliam of the 156 Task Force Battalion, Mainok in Borno state, has been arrested for gun running.

Iorliam who hails from Benue state allegedly steals arms and ammunition from his base and sells same to Bandit, Boko Haram members and kidnappers. He met his Waterloo while he was moving these cache of ammunition out of Borno State to hand over to his customers.

He was intercepted by his colleagues at a check point and upon searching him, he was found to be in possession of the ammunition.

A year has passed and Pastor Siva Moodley's body remains at a funeral parlour in Fourways, Gauteng

Moodley, 53, the founder of The Miracle Centre in the north of Johannesburg, died on August 15, 2021, after falling ill His body has been kept at Martin’s Funeral Home since then

On Monday, Martin du Toit, the manager at the funeral home, confirmed that Moodley's body was still at his mortuary

"After Pastor Moodley's death, his family and members of the church used to visit the funeral home to pray for his resurrection. The last visit was in September last year Nobody has come to view the body since then. There is no news about his funeral," said Du Toit

He said he had lodged an application with the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court to grant him permission to have Moodley buried or cremated However, the matter has not been set down as yet for a hearing

"It is a civil matter I cannot make the decision to bury or cremate him on my own It has to come from his family but they are not saying anything He was a well-known man and does not deserve this kind of treatment I hope the court can provide some relief

Since the death, services at the church have been going on as normal and are conducted by his wife, Jessie, son, David, and daughter Kathryn Jade The services are also live streamed on social media

The church has allegedly not openly acknowledged his death on social media or informed the congregation of his whereabouts His social media accounts, notably Facebook and Twitter, are operational and messages are posted every day as if they are from him

Moodley has an international following and had a television programme called Your Miracle Moment The programme was broadcasted on DStv through FaithTV and TBN Africa

Since April this year re-runs of the programme have been broadcast on Miracle TV+, a streaming service New episodes of the programme only feature Jessie and David

According to his website, Moodley is described as an apostle, author, international speaker, and radio and TV personality

It is also claimed that Moodley made those who were blind see and restored hearing to some who were hearing impaired There are also claims that he healed people who were ill

Pastor Prem Terry Jugdeo, who followed Pastor Moodley's ministry, said the family needed to be transparent

"His family and church members have not respected the death of a great person but believed in the resurrection of this servant of God. His wife and children continue as normal They need to be honest and not hide away from the facts

Congregation members, who declined to be named, also wanted answers

"Pastor Moodley was a righteous person He helped so many people but his legacy is being tarnished Whenever we ask where he is, we never get an answer Initially, we were told he is coming back soon but a year has gone by and nothing We read the media reports of his death and we want his family to do the right thing and give him a proper send-off

Another member said: "I am still a member of the church because of Pastor Moodley's teachings But I do not know how long I can remain a member I feel conflicted because of all that has happened His soul needs to find rest and peace There is no dignity for him He was a wonderful person and does not deserve this
Reggie Moloi, the manager of cemeteries and crematoria for Johannesburg, said they could not force the family to perform a burial or cremation
"We can only provide the service This is a family matter We can only get involved if the body poses a health risk to the community In that instance, we have to seek permission from the court to have the body buried or cremated

Police Arrest Kidnappers Who Kill Victims In Kogi State

Sometimes around March 2022, one Babatunde Orogu age 34 was kidnapped to an unknown location, his phone SIM was used to negotiate the ransom twice to the tune of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) at different locations.

Operation of the CIRRS swung into action with the help of analysis, tracked down one Abdul Shaibu 32 of age from Okpachala, Kogi state, whom the victim’s phone was traced to his possession and apprehended him.

He made a confessional statement and admitted being a member of kidnapping gang, he further led the operatives of CIRRS to Lokoja in Kogi State where One Musa Araba "m" aged 40 years and One Ugbede Abdul "m" aged 38 years were arrested and they all confessed independently to have taken part in the kidnapped saga while ransom was collected.

They further narrated that the said Abdul Shaibu "m" who also opened up to have worked as a labourer under the victim suggested the killing of the victim.

They later used sharp knife and slaughtered him on his neck till he gave up the ghost.

Meanwhile, the operatives are on top gear to recover the corpse and their operational weapons.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy attacked in Anambra state..his aides was killed

Unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state today September 11, leaving an unspecified number of his aides dead.

Gunmen have reportedly killed at least two people after carrying out a robbery attack on two commercial banks in Ankpa area of Kogi state on Tuesday September 6.

Cult war: Police Arrest 30 suspects, recover severed head of victim in Edo



A recent cult rivalry between Aiye and Eiye confraternities in Benin City, Edo State capital, has resulted in the death of two members of the warring factions in the last 72 hours.

One of the victims, 40-year-old Taiwo Edigie, was reportedly killed Thursday, 25 August, 2022, at Oho Street, in Uselu axis of the town.

The head of the victim was severed and dropped at a different location from where the body was found by the police.

The other victim whose identity was yet to be verified as at the time of filing this report, was killed along Imuetiyan Street, off Ojo Road, Ugbowo, also in connection to the ongoing cult fight.

It was, however, independently gathered that another victim was also killed on Wednesday morning, between 6.00am and 6.30 am, along Ihiae Street, Uselu.

The victim, who was said to be a very popular member of the local vigilante group, was reportedly strangled to death, as several bullets fired at him failed to penetrate him.

Irked by the inter cult rival killings, the State Police Command responded with massive raids and arrests of cultists suspected to be associated with the crime.

A statement released on Friday morning by the Command’s deputy spokesperson, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, disclosed that a total of 30 suspects were arrested in the intensive raids.

“Profiling is still ongoing and anyone found culpable or related to any of the cult rivalry killings would be arraigned in court as soon as profiling is concluded,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, who commiserating with the bereaved families, specifically warned members of Eiye and Aiye Cult groups to either renege their violent rivalry that led to avoidable deaths of their members, or be ready for more arrest and prosecution in the days ahead.

He, however, assured the good people of Edo State of the Command’s unrelenting efforts in ensuring that there is no hiding place for criminals.
