ASUU Strike: ‘Enough Is Enough’ — Buhari Tells University Lecturers

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday called on ASUU members to reconsider their position on the on-going strike, saying “enough is enough.’’

The union began the strike on February 14.

The president expressed worry that the strike would have generational consequences on families, the educational system and future development of the country.

Malam Garba Shehu, his media aide, stated that Buhari made the call when he received some governors, legislators and political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

The visitors were in Daura to pay Sallah homage to the president.

Buhari noted that the strike had already taken a toll on the psychology of parents, students and other stakeholders, throwing up many moral issues begging for attention.

He noted also that Nigeria’s future rested on the quality of education.

He assured also that government understood the union’s position, but that negotiations should continue with students in lecture halls.

“We hope that ASUU will sympathise with the people on the prolonged strike. Truly, enough is enough for keeping students at home. Don’t hurt the next generation for goodness sake,’’ he said.

The president called on all well-meaning Nigerians, particularly those close to ASUU leaders and members to persuade the lecturers to reconsider their position and its effect on an entire generation and the nation.

According to Buhari, Nigerian students will be faced with the challenge of competing with others in technology-driven work spaces.

Keeping them at home, he argued, only deprived them of time, skill and opportunities to be relevant on the global stage.

“Colonial type education was geared towards producing workers in government. Those jobs are no longer there.

“Our young people should get education to prepare them for self-employment. Now education is for the sake of education.

Legendary actor, Kenneth Aguba recently made headlines after photos of his poor living condition were shared online. Several Nigerians spoke about how they couldn't believe that he could end up in that situation. Shortly after the news went viral, the founder of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere intervened and brought him over to Port Harcourt where he was given medical attention at the OPM free specialist hospital.

He was recorded live on Facebook while he was being taken to the house that was given to him by Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, and he said a lot of things. He was asked a lot of questions and he made sure he provided answers. Kenneth Aguba was asked about his time in the movie industry, and he revealed that he acted a lot of movies at different locations in Nigeria. He also said that he began his career as an actor back in 2003.

However, he revealed that he was being paid very little in a lot of movies. According to him, he has received just N5000 naira severally for his role in movies. He was then asked if he intended to go back to acting, and he said he was ready to give it a try again, and do his best.

THEY DUMPED HIS CORPSE AT GOV'T HOUSE A student of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in Ondo State, Ademola Alayori, has died after he was allegedly shot dead by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun. In a voice note, Ademola did before his death, he said that the incident happened on Monday night July 4. According to him, he was at home and had just finished eating and was about to drink water when he saw his brother who is an apprentice at a barbing salon returning home. He said the next thing he knew was that some men barged into their apartment. Ademola said he inquired what they were looking for but they ignored him and instructed him and others in the apartment to move out. It was in this process that he was allegedly shot. Adenoma further stated that he was dragged by the operatives to their office where he was kept in a cell with a dog that was licking the blood from his wound. He said he was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Owo after his condition worsened and thereafter an operation was carried out on him. It was in the hospital that he later died.  In protest of his killing, the students carried his corpse this morning to the gate of the state government house where they are demanding that the Amotekun agents that allegedly killed Ademola be brought to book.  The state police command nor the state government is yet to comment on this incident.

Tension as suspected terrorist storms a Catholic Church in Abuja


There was apprehension at Archangel Raphael Catholic Church, Garki, Abuja, on Sunday, July 3, when an unidentified turbaned man invaded the church premises.


According to eyewitnesses, the man who wore sunglasses and a hat that had the inscription ‘POLICE” on it, did not have a tenable explanation when he was apprehended by the church worshippers.


He was also seen wearing a faded suspected US Army- type camouflage trousers and drove a silver-coloured Peugeot 406 with an Abuja number BWR-417HF.


In a viral video, a lady who witnessed the incident said, “This is just happening here right now, a terr@rist entered my church Archangel Raphael Catholic Church, Garki, Abuja, Police Barracks. He dressed up in a turban, a police face cap and dark shades. He drove to where the men were having a meeting. We were shouting for him to stop. So we raised an alarm that people should come out and stop him and they stopped him.


Upon interrogation, he said he was here to see somebody but the person he claimed he came to see said he did not know him. The suspect added that he hailed from Abia and when we asked him what part of Abia, he could not say. He proceeded to reveal his relatives were from Ethiopia. So we asked him, what are you doing dressed like this?, he couldn’t provide a reasonable answer.


He said he was going to call the Inspector General of Police. We saw some things in his car, drugs and some other items.“

According to reports, she was used for Yahoo Plus money rituals by her boyfriend who is an internet scammer.

The boyfriend is said to have been arrested by the police and taken to the station with her where she continued making dog sounds.

She could be seen inside a cell woofing with spittle running down her chin and an unidentified liquid substance around her mouth.

Eight dead in bloody Edo cult war


No fewer than eight people have been reportedly killed in the last 24 hours in a fierce rivalry between two cult confraternities, in Benin, Edo State.

The incident has set the state capital boiling, with the eight confirmed deaths occurring at various locations in the city.
