godofuck231:
what I can explain here is that the military in Nigeria is everything when ever the police fails the military stands to quarterback, seeing an ordinary car not even a flag vehicle running one way something might: be at stake, this is the FCT not just lagos, most: of these men can't tell you the kind of orders they are given, but: they have to deliver time is always no man's friend especially in the military bad things happen when they turn up late, it's the way they are wired .

in Afghanistan the us navy seal team six was wiped out after the admiral took 3 minutes or more to walk to a secured sat landline to speak with the team leader, after then the sat had hovered past the position directly ontop of the mountain, from there forward communication was bad, 3 minutes!

^^^
No sir.

The military is not everything "whenever the police fails" as you put it. They are government workers. When you strip everything down to basics, they are government workers - just like government nurses, teachers, engineers, doctors etc. The only difference is in the details of their job description. Their job is to neutralize internal or external threats to the security of this country. I will let you be the judge of how well they have delivered on that assignment against the rebels in Nigeria's North-East. undecided

I don't buy into the theory that military personnel on the roads are doing us a favour by not telling us the "important" orders they are following - orders which require?! them to break traffic rules the rest of us must follow. This impunity must stop. This belief that soldiers/airmen/seamen are above the law must stop! The military hierarchy in the last administration believed that it wasn't necessary for their procurement methods to undergo the same scrutiny that civilians go through. You are aware of the result - the grand corruption in the purchase of kit and equipment that cost the lives of the rank and file - in their thousands. This is a big part (though not the only part) of why the war against Boko Haram remains unfinished - some senior brasshats believe they are above the law and can get away with anything.

If they are so worried about time lost in unnecessary traffic, what stops them from collaborating and exchanging ideas with civilian authorities to solve the traffic problem permanently across Nigeria's urban areas? No - they won't do that because they consider themselves superior to those goddamned bloody civilians. Its far more convenient to drive against traffic or in the emergency lane and then claim to be "staff" when challenged.

We need to stop making excuses for lawlessness.

in the road use act there is a lane reserved fore emergency, it's called the emergency lane, it's used be ambulances, and coroners and law enforcement agencies to beat traffic or for civilians when in danger behind wheels and can't just stop in other words it's called an emergency exit lane.

^^^
Ok. Point taken. The question is whether the fellow was authorized to be in that lane at that point in time. Is it that all law enforcement agents are allowed to use the emergency lane anytime?

LASG has had several cases (too many to count) of military personnel using the Bus Rapid Transit lane when they are not allowed to do so. This contempt for traffic rules by soldiers happens across the entire country. If this so called general was authorized to be in that lane nobody would challenge him. It is that simple.

Some people do not want the rules to apply to them simply because they think they are better than everyone else. The world doesn't work that way.

Just look at the story as it was well scripted.
People will believe that the said corps marshal was there because of that greed luck not knowing that MR. Boboye was coming from Benue state where he went to commission a project with a major general in Nigeria Army.

One thing that is not clear enough is that was it the same General Mr Boboye ushered to Benue state that pointed gun on one of Mr Boboye's boys?

Why I doubt the claims in this news is that the General Mr Boboye travelled with cannot point a gun to the said FRSC guy and no general in Nigeria can do that at the present of that major general I'm talking about because he has human feeling and he's also a good father.

The writer of this story is just trying to show some beauty in the work of fct minister.

GDP doubled?!!

You can't reduce 8 years of an administration into a couple of sentences. Getting debt relief from multilateral creditors was that administration's signature achievement - I'll give them that. But what else? Remember the monetization policy of that administration and how senior government officials used that policy to illegally buy up their official residences? Remember how that administration raised the price of petroleum products a whopping 5 or 6 times? Was the "subsidy" that large to begin with? Remember the resources poured into the failed 3rd term bid which he denies to this very day? Remember the ugly crony capitalism of that administration which manifested in actions such as the sale of ASC to unsuitable hands?

We can go on and on.

No.

Mr. Obasanjo would have done nothing. He had a track record of cracking down on soft targets and then looking the other way when there were real threats to public order. Do not forget that it was during his administration that Islamic religious law was adopted by several state legislatures in Northern Nigeria as state religion. What did OBJ do to counter this threat to the Republic? He did nothing.

The quest for the 3rd term you refer to was just one example of the lawlessness and corruption of the OBJ years - we have not forgotten the futile attempts by that administration to bribe equally corrupt lawmakers to support that dead on arrival third term agenda.

The OBJ presidency was a failure - just like all the ones that have succeeded it so far.

You have a point.
However, until someone publicly acknowledges that he or she made an error- in this case, a grave one that has led to Nigerian deaths and a country in seige of Fulani terrorists- we should not assume for the person and suggest that "he has realised his error".

He/she had a mouth then. He/she has a mouth then. They can speak if they really want to acknowledge that they made an error.
Until that confession is publicly made, the fellow hasnt actually realised that they made an error. Forgiveness isnt assumed. It is requested, through the tongue.
He hasnt made that acknowledged. I cannot give him any credit.

^^^
Again, fair points you have made. Can't argue with them.

I used to read his column (I think it was in the Sun or the Guardian?) then but I haven't done so in a while. It would be interesting to run through all his pieces from 2015 to date to see whether or not he ever publicly admitted his error in backing Buhari for the presidency. He just may have done this.

If indeed he ever put in print his regrets in backing the Buhari administration - then I think he's done his bit. The climate then was one of extreme frustration with the GEJ administration - and the public were desperately looking for a saviour. Unfortunately, their choice was an emotional one and not a rational one.

This administration has been a massive disappointment for those who put their hope in it. They have learned a bitter and expensive lesson.

But what of the middle of the road? If there is no drainage in the seperation/divider between the concrete carriageways, what happens over the long term as rainwater and debris collects there?

The civil engineers here should chime in.

Despite telling them that the Okada is private and we were friends actually going out they corked guns and pointed to our heads and seized the bike.
