How did your cousin get the date in June this year... did he pay someone for it or was he just checking every time online I believe the answer to these questions will help alot of people know what direction to go... I for one i have been checking almost every night to get an earlier date cos i needed to be in the US in August...

Santa2:
Applied for my parents for visit visa in February got an appointment date in January 2023, Luckily one of my siblings was able to get a closer date in June this year after many sleepless nights. The goodnews is that they went for the interview a couple of days ago and they were issued the visa. They weren't asked much questions, my they were just asked what they do? and what they were going for? and how long they would be there for? My mum had been to the US before but my dad has never.

This Guy!!!.. LOL... you seem to give people reason to start accusing you of what you probably aint.. I've seen your name popup in this topic and Canada student topic every now and then with people attacking you.. me i wont do that... as i dont know you.. or anything.. but that was harsh... That person asked that question because I'm sure like everyone here... after reading that transcript you ask yourself.. "Ok may this guy has been traveling and has loads of travel history that's why the VO was quick.. or maybe he was married.. or may this or that" those questions will help other people out.... Abeg allow people ask their question... people are already tensioned with the everything going on in Naija.. no come add your own... P.S I come in peace.... if this comes across as me attacking.. I apologize.

To the guy who just got his VISA... Biko congrats jare

Nigerians... we are our own problem.... what would it have taken you to actually fill the form yourself... i mean.. you paid for the VISA... take time fill the form... the form is built in a way you can save where ever you are and come back to finish... so even if you decide to take 3mins a day to fill the form you would have filled it... .. anyway.... if the form has been submitted as complete... i am sorry... you have to cancel that submission and do a new one... but if the form has not been submitted as complete.. then let them give you the application ID so you can login and correct the errors..

Good evening house. God bless everyone contributing their quotas here. Here’s my problem, my cousin sent me an invite. I made the visa fee payment at gtb myself, snapped and sent the slip to my friend in the USA to help
Me fill it. Cos I don’t wanna make a mistake. He then gave his friend in the UK who’s a travel agent to fill it for free. He didn’t ask of my passport to upload. He only asked of my bio data, I sent him the a copy I snapped with my phone instead of a scanned one. I was at work and promised to scan the bio the following day. I was surprised he processed everything without asking for my passport. Now, he used two names instead of three names on my international passport. And I can’t edit it. He registered via this site: https:// cgifederal.secure.force .com. Someone should pls help me on how I can edit it properly. Thanks

If you created a profile and only applied for yourself alone then my brother you either go for the interview or cancel it... you cannot transfer your appointment date to someone else... its not an event ticket..... but if you applied for yourself and your wife on that profile but you cant go.. your wife can still go... you just have to apply again for yourself....

Hello Gurus,

I have an appointment date for May in Lagos. however, I want to transfer this appointment to my wife as I’ll not be able to attend. Is this possible?

I'll advice you do a fresh profile. As for the conference, i'll advice you look for another reason to travel.... all events globally have gone virtual right now and im sure this your conference is also virtual. Your first time of travelling should have a very good reason for travel .... my own thoughts...

Aniody:
Good evening everyone, you people are doing a good job here, I got a 5days conference that is in line with my job, I am a civil servant, have been with my office for more than 10yrs now but I have never travelled before.

While I was creating a profile to enable me book an appointment, I wrongly pick Egypt as country of application, please how do I correct it to Nigeria? I need your help.

Hi guys... i still need a response to this oh... anyone?

vsylva:
Hi Guys... @Frankrobbn1 @justwise so im thinking of applying to Humber College Web Design and Development program

Credential: Certificate of Achievement
Program Length: 2 semesters

I already gained Admission to Georgian College for a 2yrs diploma in Interactive Media Design - Web +Co-op last year which i differed to this year sept 2020. But being that im self sponsoring i want to play it safer with a one year program because of proof of funds gathering. My challenge is does it matter the credential one gets .. Humber is Certificate of Achievement while Georgian is Ontario College Diploma.

What is really driving this thought is with Georgian Estimated Tuition for the 1st year is = 17,070.07 and its a 2 yrs program so for proof of funds i would be looking at Tuition 17,070.07 + 1 yr Living 10,000 + 2000 = $29070.07... => N8,015,820 ,, if i am going to put together proof of funds i also have to add the tuition for the 2nd yr to answer the question of me covering my cost of tuition without needing to work in canada.. thats an extra N4,706,930 summing it up to N12,722,750.... i am a married man with 3 kids.. im not going with my family so i will need to more money to show that i still have money left behind for the family... so we are looking at 15Million at least... all this for Georgian College...

With Humber College Program

Credential: Certificate of Achievement
Program Length: 2 semesters

The 2020-2021 fee for two semesters is: $9,704.38 = N2,675,900

Additional Costs
Approximately $50 to $500 – web hosting services and recommended textbooks. $500 = N137,871

Living expense 1yr: $10000 = N2,757,410

Misc: $2000 = N551,483

POF needed = N6,122,664+

Adding what i will leave aside for the family lets just say 8M..... Humber is making alot more sense... but my question is... Certificate of Achievement vs Diploma

What would you advice.... anyone...

Hello @Frankrobbn1 @NaijaForeigner i will like you take on this i shared earlier...

Original Post
vsylva:

vsylva:
Hello Guys... quick one.. so i got admitted to Georgian College last year i deferred my admission to this year because of POF as my Aunt i wanted to use as co sponsor changed her mind suddenly (long story). so i decided to raise the money myself and be my sole sponsor as i dont have one rich uncle or aunt like most people.. and my folks aint that buoyant. My tuition for a year is $17,070.07.

From my projection of income from projects (im a software developer) i should have about N9million in 3 months. Will that be enough to use as POF being that School fees for a year @$17,070.07 + one year living expense @$10,000 + $3000 extra to cover flight and anything else comes to $30,070.07 thats about N8,419,619.6.

I am Married with 3 kids i run my own company.. i am not going with my family.. just going alone.

Questions Asked of me
mcobex:

Is your program for a year? if yes then you have enough to ahead, but if it is beyond one year then you still don't have enough. As a self sponsored student, it will be required of you to have funds to cover the entire duration of your program.
Also, is your wife working? If she is then you can say she earns enough to take care of the children while you are away (if not you will have to explain to the vo how you intend to carter for them while you are studying since they are your responsibility).

My Response
vsylva:

My Program is 2 yrs. My Wife owns her own business and makes her own income she can fend for the kids while im away but at the same time i have a separated account for 3million naira (100k a month + extra expense) for the wife and kids.. this is outside my POF... (that one is a no brainier).
So basically since i am self sponsored you are saying i need to have POF to cover both years tuition and cost of living which comes to about 15million Hmmm... if not for the Covid-19 that would have been a possible target to hit in 3 months... If i cant raise up to that what ever i raise i will try to make sure i at least have 10million... i cant kill myself...

Good evening bro. How are you doing? hope you are staying safe out there.

I was approved in February & subsequently received my stamped last month before the lockdown. I need proper and thorough guidance about life in Canada. I will be going to halifax, nova Scotia in fall 2020. I have a few questions:

1) On arrival in Canada, should I live closer to school or closer to my part-time work place? I want to take my studies very seriously cos that is my only ticket to PR while working the 20 hours/week. Please I need ur candid advice.
2) Tuition & LE won't be a problem, My plan was finding a room in a house and moving into a studio or one bedroom when my wife &child arrive through SOWP as I intend applying for them 2 months after my resumption?
3) My budget for housing when I arrive is 450-650, then whenever my family arrive 600-700 for a one bed room apartment if I can find. Please advise?
4) Finally, whats the pattern of study over there? More assigments and less lectures or more practicals ? Cos in naija we are used to theory theory & theory. Lol

Thanks & looking forward to your reply.

Visa Transcript
Interview time 6.45 am.
There were 3 VO's in windows 1, 4 and 6.

VO: Good morning ma'am
ME: Good morning ma'am
VO: Where are you going in the US
ME: New Jersey
VO: How long
ME: 10 days
VO: Purpose of traveling
ME: To shop for my business in Nigeria. I sell Fashion items which I get from the UK, Turkey and Dubai and I travel every 6-8 weeks
VO: I see you didn't use your previous US Visa. Why is that?
ME: I got pregnant shortly after and I stayed back to birth and nurture my baby. (This was the real reason. I didn't do any traveling at all within the 2 years I had my visa)
VO:Are you married
ME: No but I'm engaged and have a son
VO: Do you have any other income?
ME: No
VO: sorry you do not qualify at this time.

I actually make about 2-3m monthly but I pay myself 350,000 as salary which is what I put in the application. Maybe I shouldn't have put 350k in the form

I just came back from the UK last night. Didn't even have enough sleep before rushing out for the interview. I planned to travel to the UK next and travel to the US from there to shop for my business.

Can I reapply from the UK?

this is the reason you were denied "VO:Are you married " you are a single mother who travel alot for business.. theres a likely chance of you getting to the US and stay back ... financial status isnt priority for this guys.. its your strong ties to your home country... if you were married they wouldnt have asked if you had another incoime because you being married means your husband has his own income to also support the family and he is back home with you son....Also you shouldnt have said you where going to shop for you business.. you already do that with the other countries you travel to.. you should have just said VACATION...... you going on vacation after so much travelling for your business and successfully selling out.. makes alot more sense....... SOCIAL TIES dear...

To the poster of the question. You can go to any country with 1Million Naira.. its a question of what are you going for and what sort of traveller are you.... Let me just share my upcoming planned trip in May.... I am doing Europe in 30 days.. everything comes to 1.1Million naira... yea anyone reading this will be like.. what is this guy talking about... i am a digital nomad.. travelling is fun for me and you have to have information on how to survive while on the road.... Now... my kick of city is paris... meaning i first have to book a return flight ticket to paris and back... which came to N232,999, then for transport around Europe.. i am using the EURAIL Global Pass ticket... which came to N276,000 which is valid for two months and 15 days worth of travel..... (15 days meaning the number of days on the train to go to anywhere) you can travel to two cities in 2 countries in one day... i am visiting 24 cities in 12 countries...

Ticket = N232,999
Eurail = 276,000
Accomodation = 230,000
Food = 360,000

TOTAL = 1,098,999

Extra cash = 200k

So about 1.2M to travel around Europe in 30 days... pay attention i did not mention shopping... thats the mistake alot of people do.. they think they must shop to travel.. im basically ... seeing Europe.. taking pictures.. experiencing culture eating their food.. meeting new people

Please can i also get the SOP template biko.. let me compare with mine and see where i may be getting it wrong. victorsylva@gmail.com Thanks
sillysassysally:
I have a friend whose situation was quite similar to yours. She got full funding for an MSc and her passport was semi-virgin (lol) the only time she had ever traveled out was to the UK when she was very little (like 4 years old). She was rejected on the basis of purpose of visit, travel history, personal asset (something very similar to yours). The second time she applied, she used consultants (Maple Education). Some of the things that i know she did differently includes:
1. Deferred her admission as she was already short on time
2. Wrote a banging SOP - I can send you the template she used
3. Even though she had full funding, she still used a sponsor (her dad) whose SOA could cover her cost of education

Like it has already been said, i would advise you to order your GCMS notes immediately as it'll give you more perspective to what the VO's line of thoughts are regarding your particular application. When you have done all your hard work, don't forget that "faith begins where facts and figures ends" - Omofar. I pray that what God has started (getting admission and full funding) would be perfected for you.

With that said, i noticed we do not have your timeline information. do you mind sharing?

Hello my people, good evening. How has been your day.

Please I need an advice from you.

I am 28 years of age and already have my BSC and masters. All efforts to get a good paying job have been fruitless. So I'm thinking of migrating to Canada or any other good foreign country (USA I heard is kinda dificult)
My question is this. Can I apply to universities in Canada for a Postgraduate course or possibly another masters.

Or should I apply through canadaian Express entry. I can get a good statement of account but what are my chances of getting a visa.

I would be grateful if I'm giving a candid advice, I shall forever be grateful.

Yea and take your time to arrange a very good application... Don't rush things
You go dey alright.

Lemme try and break some stuff down for you
Let say your making 7 million yearly take it up to 12 million per annum or more (they won't use your statement of account to judge you cause you have lotta things to do with money like paying bills and amenities, venturing to business, etc then you derive it according to your earnings that was stated earlier
Now this’d how to break it down

Income from employment (state the name) 4 million

Income from (name the online business) {consultancy} 6 million

Income from my firm (the name of your business) 2 million (you said it's still in a growing stage) 2 million is okay

Let's say you have 3 kids
You have to show your financial commitment
Chinedu Vsylva (name the school) 120k
Ade Vsylva (name the school) 100k
Jerry Vsylva (name the school) 80k

PS: please don't put a big amount like 900k or 400k for your kid's cause they may use it against you in your statement of account

All these should come in your affidavits of support. You will also do something like this in your SOP using your LOA..., I think you already know how to go bout it in your previous post.

If you have any landed properties, try and increase the worth, if the worth is 3 million make it 9 million

If you have any investment say the real worth of it.

I may have to stop here, stick around for more info from people

If you find it difficult to increase your account to 10 mil and above
Get a co-sponsor that can provide more than 6 million and then he/she should show some commitment maybe 2 million or so for your living expenses or second term tuition fee.

@Austacus YoU ROCK... thanks for that break down... i will add these to my word document of important information to always come back to as guidance..

I like this guy

Don't you think to manage your business from abroad (Canada) is a bigger workload than the $14 minimum wage in Ottawa? (cause you're not restricted from the 20hrs work per week)
I will advise you not to include it in your SOP, just tell the VO you have a business that is fetching money for you. Tell the VO that wifey would be managing the business and workers throughout your study leave in Canada, ,,Even though she has her own personal work (tell them you've taught her the rudiments of the business).

6 million is Not bad if you have paid for your full tuition fee
But I would also advise you, if you can make it up to 10 million and above please do cause you're a married man with dependants. (for the sake of strong financial ground) very important

11,154.53 Canadian Dollar set aside for your family living expenses might be small in the eyes of the VO
So I would also advise you to include wifey account statement to show she Has a good financial strength or history. You can as well get a co-sponsor.

I hope your business is registered

Should you need more info, don't hesitate to ask

Bless you

Thanks for this... like i had said earlier..every idea of mine shared here has come from months of following up on this thread and trying to prepare myself.. and i am still open to advices like yours and any other...nobody sabi pass... and it was never my intention to write it out in my SOP that i will be running my business from canada... i was only sharing how i was gonna managing it.. i was only gonna state i had a business that would make me money like u have rightly said.. and yes have my wife run in while im away... i already have her listed as MD.. but thats by the way... i will take all you have said and all i have gathered over time.. plus more that will come in from other post to come from others....

So from what you have said

Account 1 (My savings) having a balance of 6M after first semester Tuition needs to be upgraded to 10M
Account 2 (Fam Savings) with balance of 3M.. needs to be padded with Wifeys Account statement too?

Well you do have articulate answers I'll give you that. All that's left is to bind it together in your application. All the best....

Thanks Qudkom.

So with all that said.. Having a savings account balance of 6M after paying my first tuition fee and another family savings account balance of 3M should be good enough proof of funds to share with the VO??

Hello, congratulations on your admission. It's a good thing you took the time out to go through the previous posts. There isn't a safe amount to have because a VO might have other ideas concerning your personal assets and finance. However I'd like to state a few things.

1. You seem to be a mature Applicant and one of the key things a VO would want to clarify is what happens with your family while you are studying; is your wife employed and buoyant enough to cater for herself and your child in your temporary absence? , when you pay up your tuition plus living expense what is left? Can that be enough for your family also lastly will your personal assets and finance compel you to come back home or are you likely to file for your family in the near future.

2. Is your current job compelling enough for your return.

3. If you decide not to use a co-sponsor do you have the financial strength to study without having to work. We are talking 6-8million yearly.

Lastly, A VO expects a mature applicant to have strong ties to Nigeria and will also question why you are deciding to further your education after so many years considering your study gap. So please in order to avoid unnecessary refusal reasons plan your trv application accordingly starting from your family welfare, personal asset and why and the need to further your education!. Remember you won't be there to defend yourself when the VO scans your application. All the best.

Thanks for your quick response @Qudkom

To Answer your questions:

1. My Wife is well employed and bouyant enough to cater for herself and the kids. With regards to what is left. That part i have thought about and thereby have a separate account that by the time i will be applying for my study permit should have about 3M in it.. this account is set up for monies for the family outside my travel plans expense... as for the compelling to come home.. i am taking my time to explain reasons for the program and why i wanna come back after my program due the the various opportunities here...

2. I run a software development firm... my clients are within and outside the country. I have two online startups and i've just started a custom T-shirt line business using my graphics... .. the goal is to come back after my program and setup Big Data and Business Intelligence sector for my company to expand my business.... so i guess that should be enough compelling reason to return

3. When you say having to work.. i think you are referring to having to work in canada on that $14 per hour for 20 hours a week job... NOPE.. thats impossible.. u will have to kill urself and affect ur study in doing that... i know this... my sustainance will be my business that will keep going.. all i will be doing from over there is project managing as i will have my team handle the actual projects... in preparing for this 5 months ago i started this method of running my business as if i wasnt in the country and have my team work on the projects while i project managing and its been pretty successful... this is the way i plan to fund my school, family etc...

I welcome more questions, concerns, queries, guidance as it will help me better my preparation...

Hello Everyone.. Happy Easter to you all.. i have been a silent follower of this thread.. i have read it from the very very very very first page and i've been following till date... even took some helpful tips into word document to help me get my info together...

I applied to a 3yrs Diploma program at Georgian College for Fall 2019, waiting to get my admission letter...

School Fees = $6,978.91

using $1 = N280

2 Semester (1yr) = $13960 => N3,908,800
Deposit = $2500 => N700,000
Living 1yr = $10000 => N2,800,000
Total = 6,708,800

I intend to pay my complete first year tuition fee of $6,978.91 => N1,954,094.8 instead of the deposit asked for.. leaving Balance to N4,754,705.2

My question is.. What is the best/safest amount to have in my account as proof of funds in my account as i am self sponsored, married with 3 kids.. who i do not intend to travel with.... for now...

Would appreciate your answers.. thanks

Well... maybe you can.. i dont know.. i wont say what i am not sure off.. i just know that for very large amounts sometimes using your debit card may bring issues... so making a wiretransfer seems best.. but i leave it to the experts in the house to comment on...
Nuel182:
i though we could use flywire and our Normal naira MasterCard to make big payments

BRO.. make the payment using your dorm account the moment you initiate the transfer send an email to the school with the receipt of transfer to show you have done it... so they wait for it... if it takes whatever number of days it shouldnt matter because you made the payment before the deadline and you even notified them about it... i think... i stand to be corrected oh...

Amahjosh:
Sir Frank I just tried GT bank Master Card it still decline the payment. And i entered the banking hall and was told I can't pay that amount 2.4M using my naira card. Seems I will be using the dorm account route. But I am not sure if the money will get to the school before the deadline which is today.

Watching Border Security: America's Frontline on DSTV 132 CBS Reality.. where a student from Congo arrived 2 months earlier then when school is meant to resume... he was sent back home... because the law is to travel into the country within 30 days to resumption date... reason im sharing this is just so those who have gotten their student visa and all should not be in a hurry and make same mistake... know the law abeg... cheers..

By the way please anyone here applied into Georgian College September 2019/2020 wanna know whos on my boat
