It's sopoz to be a blessing, but greedy Nigerian politicians mishandling it, so it became a curse
My point exactly... Personally I feel Nigeria would have been a much better place if we never had Crude oil.

I am even subscribed to his YouTube channel. His moniker is afrorossiyatv.
You will even see videos on YouTube about China.
I follow him on nairaland and YouTube too... The guy literally changed my perseption about Russia.
He has stopped posting regularly on his nairaland diary again.

This is quite an interesting piece and funny enough it's true.

Nigerians and many other Africans living in the United States often make videos on Tiktok where there ask Americans questions about about Africa and other parts of the world ...
Watching these videos made me realize how misinformed the Americans themselves are about the rest of the world.
This was how I came to realize more about the errors of the Western media.

For a very long time , I used to see Russia as a very desolate, cold, rigid place with mean and awful people that is run by a dictatorship kind of government by Putting but I came to realize how wrong that perseption is when I started following a Nairaland diary about a Nigerian student living in Russia and I got to realize that Russia isn't as Bad as the Western media potrayed them.

gist us nah... 70% of Romancelanders are not living in the barracks
No be small thing oh...
I don't know how the situation is now but all barracks (army, Navy , air Force etc) were the worst place to raise a child.
As a child you got exposed to a lot of vices at a very tender age and parents needed to be very strict with their kids because the place corrupts kids a lot.
PoliticsCRUDE OIL: A Blessing Or A Curse To Nigeria. by Vulcanheph(op): 3:34pm On Nov 15, 2021
I will go straight to the point...

Despite what many people think , Crude oil was/has always been more of a curse than a blessing to us and maybe if we never had it, the country would have been much better than it is now, and I'll give you the reasons why I think so...

1. It was basically the main reason why nigeria fought a civil war:
If the Biafran region didn't have oil, the Nigerian Government wouldn't have fought so hard to try to keep them together.

2. It was the reason why Nigeria doesn't practice true federalism today: The unitary system we practice today was to enable the Government control the resources (which was mainly crude oil)

3. It caused the country to lose concentration on other revenue making sources which in turn caused many of them to collapse and deteriorate.

4. Due to the fact that other sectors like Agriculture, industrialization, exportation etc were mostly neglected and underutilized, it caused to the increase in unemployment, inflation etc.

5. It caused the other non-oil regions not to utilize and develop the other resources that they have, since they were all waiting for allocations.

I'll drop more points on this thread but tell me what you think...

Am I right or wrong.?

I spent the first 10 years of my life in a military barracks....

I don't even need to tell you how that destroyed my innocence.

If you've lived in the barracks, you'll know what I'm talking about.

In court he committed a crime by been illegal.... The police only did their job, assuming a lawmaker got wind of the situation, maybe some intervention would have been started.

We like double standard sha, because no one looked at it from the angle that assuming the attending officer let him off.. what would his colleagues tag him??

On one hand we insult our officers for unprofessional behavior while on the other hand we want these officers to break their own law.

The migrant that saved those people from burning house in france, wasn't he rewarded?? Everybody go du shout white man this, white man that.... Yet everybody wan japa go there.

Black man sense don override with sentiment and double standard.
I agree with what you said ...
However the truth is that , the guy was very stupid.
He knew very well that he was an illegal immigrant and still went to a police station.
Many people fail to realize that no matter what , "a crime will always be a crime".
If I was him, I would have kept the cash and used it to work my documents, sometimes we have to put our common sense first before our moralities.

APC party as a whole behave like a sore child that is extremely happy when he wins and throws tantrums when he loses.

GEJ congratulated the the disaster at Aso Rock when he lost at 2015 and the sky didn't fall.

Mumu Jibril.

I tell anyone who cares to listen, "if you pick up money, it is yours".
That is God's way of compensating you for being at the right place at the right time.

Except you have more than you'd ever need or the money you picked has a tracker on it, there is no moral justification whatsoever to return it.

My first gold necklace was one I picked up at Onu-Asata in the late eighties. I'd later sell this necklace to afford money to take my ex-boss's classy wife on a date and blow her mind when she came visiting Nigeria several years later.
This lady will eventually connect me to the people who transformed and made me fortunate in this life.

So please, where would I have been today if I had not picked up that gold necklace at Onu-Asata?
Where would I have been if I had let morals stop me from leaving a legacy in that married woman's kpekus?

Would there have been a triumphant entry into Jerusalem if Jesus had not picked and ridden a colt that was not his?

I hope this story serves as a lesson for those who pray to God to order their steps and would still walk past their blessings because they don't want to offend God.

The moment we realize that God's ways are not our ways and we can never fathom them, that is when we'd realize that nothing should separate us from God's love which is in Christ Jesus.

No matter how much money you pick up today, it will still finish one day, so why mortgage your forever because of the satisfaction of today?

But before you answer that stupid question, remember that your forever is threatened if you can not satisfy your today by any means necessary.

I really felt for him, I'll bet he was thinking that after his selfless act , the government will reward him with papers.

As long as they was no form of identification in the bag containing the money he should have kept it for himself (maybe that was Good sending him blessings).

He knew fairly well that he didn't have any documents but still went to a police station.
The Spanish Government has done something bad to themselves because this will cause any illegal immigrant from doing any selfless acts in the future.

TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Vulcanheph(m): 6:18am On Nov 14, 2021
jikins:
I do agree that it's exaggerated for sure. No one who is born blind today can do most of what blind people do in SEE.

But with that being said, events in SEE happens centuries after the virus wiped out the human population, leaving those who survived it blind. If you know a little about evolution and how the best adapted organism survives, it won't be a long shot to assume, that with time those who had more heightened senses survived and those lacking died. The ones who survived reproduced children with even more heightened senses. This occurs over centuries and eventually all surviving humans now(at the time SEE happens) have well developed senses.

Of course there will be those with more evolved senses than the rest, those are the ones who can tell the no of people in a particular area. You will noticed not everyone in see can do that.

But yes in terms of todays world its exaggerated. But giving consideration to time and human ability to adapt. It could be possible. Its kind of similar to futuristic movies with flying cars and breathtaking technology that as at today are impossible but factor in a bit of time and it might just be plausible.
Whoever you are , God bless you for understanding what the series was all about and not limiting your sense of reasoning....
One of the reasons why our country is so backwards is because of the Myopic sense of thinking we have with some people in this country and Africa as a whole.

Many people don't understand that in Biology, an organism will adapt when situations change in an attempt to survive.
I'm sure the guy arguing with you doesn't even realize that according to evolution every sense, skill, and ability he possesses is due to many years of human adaptation.

It's a really good series but clearly it's only for open-minded people.
TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Vulcanheph(m):
[quote author=Baddestguyp
post=107596457]the entire premise makes no sense actually...

Humans would hardly survive if they all lost their sight...
It's practically impossible...
Not just some humans but all...
No matter how well the other senses have adjusted, humans would hardly survive...

Humans need the build shelter, need to farm for food, need to travel, need medicines and those who will apply or perform those medical acts, need to trade, need to build weapons to survive and also to fight, etc
They aren't animals...it's almost impossible for humans to survive without sight when it's not some but all...

But then it's fiction...
First of all, as u said it's Fiction.

But take time and notice someone who's blind especially those who were born blind or have been blind for a very long time and you'll notice that there have somehow gained some level of Independence and a strong awareness for of their environment.
I knew of a blind lecturer in my University who was in Mass comm department, he was a very good at giving lecturers and his movement was almost accurate, infact if you are not very observant, you won't notice that he's blind

In terms of survival , I don't think humans will go extinct if humanity lost its sense of sight , it might be difficult for the first few years but after a while I think some will have found ways to live, build and survive generally and even have children who would possess even sharper senses than their parents.

I know it's Fiction but I love how the show's producers have been able to accurately give us a probability of how the world would have been without sight.

With your comment, I think you haven't watched the series yet, because if you have you'll understand what the story writer's were trying to show.
