Its a good thing to have gotten TCN, especially when one doesn't have any job yet. But in all honesty, getting tcn shouldn't be †ђξ ultimate goal of any of us. Career Path..... Yes. Very good. But if only properly managed. I tell you tcn iڪ good, but if tcn doesn't take you, disco and gencos are there. Very interesting sections I tell you. And they even pay more. Salary isn't †ђξ main thing actually, but its important too. For now, tcn salary isn't worth it. Disco and genco might even be more cos its private. And there are also opportunities of development there too. I even see many of us pulling out for discos soon, except if sometin iڪ done abt †ђξ pay urgently. So I appeal to my friend Wale and all that tcn isn't nothing to envy at all. There are better things ahead. Perhaps I shuld say this: Not all of us will become CEOs in †ђξ power sector. Even those that are going in now, som of us have a max number of years we want to spend before we upgrade into better things. Its just a matter of goal setting. For someone like me, despite my small training within †ђξ sector, I never resigned my job. Even up till now I've not. Even with all these post-ponings, I'm tempted not to resign for tcn again. Just that my going into tcn isn't for †ђξ money but for †ђξ experience and plan for my life. Usually, if I can't get my current salary from any job I'll do, At least I shuldn't go below 100k. Tcn won't give 100k to Officer 2 (at least for a start). But I don't mind †ђξ considerably appreciable salary drop for career plans. Bottomline, have a set goal of what you want to achieve. Be driven by your goal and not what job you get. Let's stand for sometin so we don't fall for nothing or for anytin. |
esuabassey: leadership.ng/news/281113/building-next-generation-power-sector-workersI laugh. Who iڪ deceiving who? |
If you ask me, I'd say no matter Ђδω much complaints iڪ made here, it wouldn't achieve anything. What in my own opinion iڪ needful now iڪ publicity. For instance, making †ђξ minister of power appreciate that a lot of pple have lost their jobs in this process. And tcn cannot and should not continue to make them look foolish and miserable. Pple need to be attended to on time and compensations paid for †ђξ time lost. It won't be fair if this just goes like that, and it will definately go like that if all we do iڪ just to complain on NL (a forum I doubt if †ђξ minister knows abt it existence). Someone must say something. Whoever you know at †ђξ helm may be needful here. I submit. |
Quodragoals: Is there any need for that? I believe that the dates are fixed. Meanwhile let us keep the faith. We gonna be there!!!I subtly prepared our minds yesterday abt this. It was really sad hearing that that yesterday. I really feel for those who have resigned their jobs. Especially my very good friends. I don't know Ɣ I just had †ђξ feelings not to resign in †ђξ first place. I felt touched when one of my friends said "Ah! These pple don scatter my life o". Its really a big lesson. But that's not †ђξ end yet. Hopefully very soon. Very very soon. Again, our prayer point now should be that they won't screen their list again. I urge you, don't say you already have appointment letter. Pray it if you can. Its only God that can appoint and not disappoint again. Man can't. You can also selfishly pray that, even if they want to reduce †ђξ number to 1, it should be wallex1983. Lol. Great day! |
@blessingIJ aπϑ Agaj, pls contact your sources at tcn HQ. They might have some news for us. I pray they don't sha. @all, if you can, pls let's pray pray not to receive txt, especially btw now and 2moro evening. And especially for pple slated for 28th |
As much as I know, †ђξ cadres in old Phcn are: Junior Staff Senior Staff Asst Managers Managers Senior Managers Principal Managers AGMs GMs Officers I, 2 & 4 are rated SSI, SS2, SS4 (senior staff). They do jobs together. But be sure, if there iڪ an assignment that involves those 3pple alone. Officer automatically supervises. That's all. Even when managers are involved, they auto take supervisory roles, in that order. †ђξ technicality of a job determines who supervises |
Perhaps I should say this to those in Lagos Region. Akangba iڪ on Adelabu street in surulere. Perhaps it iڪ †ђξ easiest to access. Just 7-10min drive from †ђξ National Stadium. A big station it iڪ, though very old. But you learn more in older stations Aja iڪ on †ђξ island. @MiRaaj has said so much abt this. He has all †ђξ data of that place and judging by what he ♓α§ learnt there, I believe he perfectly knows what he iڪ saying. It would be the best choice of anyone living on †ђξ island Ikeja west iڪ presumed to be †ђξ biggest, of course, supplying benin republic. Located at ayobo-ipaja, I have heard you have so much also to learn there. Akangba claims to be bigger than ikeja cos they have more capacity transformers, but that's not our concern now. As for Egbin aπϑ Papalanto, it iڪ common practice to ♓ανε a W/C near every PS. Therefore, we have Egbin WC outside Egbin PS while Papalanto WC after Olorunsogo PS in Ogunstate. Experience/Learning may not be much in papa cos Olorunsogo iڪ relatively new. But, one still gets to learn. This should do for Lagos region for now |
Pls if you are posted to Papalanto and you want Ikeja West, let's change if you don't mind o. I'm very serious. I know Ikeja iڪ a very good station but I wish I'm near home. Although my source says it may be pretty difficult cos our names have been sent to †ђξ various departments, including accounts, stating our postings. |
chyco256: Control room is avalebul 4 any1 witout accomodation dat is y I lov tcnƔeƨ ooo. †ђξ switchyard iڪ also there. |
MiRaaj: Akangba (Adelabu, Surulere) is also good and easily accessible, depending on where you are coming from. But I just hope that I'm posted to Aja, the station is relatively unique.@Miraaj. I quite understand why you want Aja. Back to base things. But of cos, you also know the reason why I may prefer Papalanto WC. We pray for †ђξ best sha and God granting our heart desires. By the way, do u still go to ur side? |
chyco256: someone from TCN told me dat we hav been posted and i am from S/E but posted to calaba S/SDo you know if the posting was done into regions or directly into workcentres. If you have to find out, pls bear in mind that there are abt 8 transmission regions in the country and about 36 workcentres. |

bamto: This is how Plan B will work- that's if this news is for real.Thank you. Exactly what iڪ on my mind to post. Ask Unilorin..... They've never gone on strike since that incident. NEVER. Even now, they are in school. Anyway, if management in my own school open †ђξ register, I will be the first lecturer to sign. I have never supported it. But I can't go to class because I find myself under the so called ASUU.... |
Seyi Godspower: Thanks for d info. But when is it likely for d NAPTIN trainees to graduate and be given their certificate?Nov 7 |
datovid :@datovid, there iڪ nobody playing pranks. It has been postponed. I can confirm that to you. If you want to reschedule ♈ōϋя flight, I may advice you wait till Monday however, or you call the coordinator of the training program directly. ♈ōϋ should have his numbers. He still called some of us 4days ago, regarding our own graduation ceremony |
http://www.theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=18937 COME tomorrow, the Vice President and Chairman, National Council on Privatisation (NCP), Mohammed Namadi Sambo, will formally hand over the physical assets of all 14 PHCN successor-companies to their new owners, the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) said in a statement yesterday. Signed by the Head of Public Communications, Mr. Joe Anichebe, the statement said the event would take place simultaneously at the headquarters of the successor-companies across the country, where Sambo would be represented by ministers and other top government functionaries. However, it said the Sapele Generation Company (SGC) would not be involved in the exercise since the NCP has directed its legal committee to undertake a comprehensive legal review of its status following the preferred bidder’s failure to complete payment. The affected companies are: Abuja Distribution Company (KANN Consortium Utility), Benin Distribution Company (Vigeo Power Consortium), Eko Distribution Company (West Power & Gas), Enugu Distribution Company (Interstate Electrics Ltd) and Ibadan Distribution Company (Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Ltd). Others are Ikeja Distribution Company (NEDC/KEPCO Consortium), Jos Distribution Company (Aura Energy Limited), Kano Distribution Company (Sahelian Power SPV Ltd), Port Harcourt Distribution Company (4Power Consortium) and Yola Distribution Company (Integrated Energy Distribution & Marketing Ltd). The generation companies are: Shiroro (North-South Power Company), Kainji (Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd), Geregu (Amperion Power Distribution) and Ughelli (Transcorp Ughelli Power Plc). Top government functionaries to represent the Vice President at the various handover venues are: the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo (Abuja), Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Ibadan), Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke (Enugu), Minister of Trade & Investment, Mr. Olusegun Aganga (Eko), Minister of Transport, Senator Idris A. Umar (Kainji/Jebba) and Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke (Yola). The others are the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mohammed Musa Sada (Kano), Minister of Information, Labaran Maku (Jos), Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu (Ughelli) and Minister of State (Works), Bashir Yuguda (Shiroro). The rest are the BPE Director General, Mr. Benjamin Ezra Dikki (Ikeja and Egbin), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Dr. Godswill Igali (Port-Harcourt), Chairman, Presidential Taskforce on Power, Beks Dagogo-Jack (Benin) and Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu (Geregu). Dikki noted: “This handover is a culmination of 14 years of painstaking effort by the NCP, BPE and other key stakeholders to reform and liberalize Nigeria’s electricity industry, which began in 1999.” The Electric Power Sector Reform Implementation Committee (EPIC) was set up in year 2000 with the key mandate to proffer an appropriate legal and regulatory framework for the sector. This gave birth to the National Electric Power Policy, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council in September 2001. It was followed by the passage of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005. The passage of the Act gave the NCP/BPE the legal impetus to set up the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), also in 2005. The NCP/BPE went further to vertically unbundle the integrated monopoly into three segments of Generation, Transmission and Distribution. As part of the reform initiative, the utility was transformed into Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in compliance with Section 1 of EPSR Act of 2005, as prelude to the full unbundling of the utility into different successor companies So far, from the 14 successor-companies scheduled for take over, a total of $2,525,824,534 was realized as proceeds. Of this amount, $1,256,000,000.00 came from the Distribution Companies (DISCOs) while the Generation Companies (GENCOs) raked in $1, 269,824,534. The Federal Government has equally set aside the entire proceed of N384 billion from the transaction to settle labour liabilities. Meanwhile, in its determination to resolve all labour issues before the handover, the BPE has dispatched a team of consultants and its staff for the biometric data capture of 1, 478 employees of the Enugu DISCO, who could not be audited because of virus attack on the system where their names were stored |

Prof.UBA:Guy you are very wrong. As someone rightly pointed out, we are not craftsmen, neither are we technicians. This iڪ one of the reasons they say our graduates are unemployable. All manner of stuffs posted here shows that we have a long way to go. We need to both be educated and be literate. |

akym2005: @he is alive u dont know that we are in acronomy world pls disco means distribution company. now read my comment again u and ur second that hash on my reply comment to fri007 are the actual back door admission. because when u are wlshing urself a good deed do not wish other bad i.e 2000 existing tcn staffs will be lay off while their section is not privatised yet then if that should be the case who we then handle every new recruited in the field afer the one yr training or do u want them to trap us in high voltafe tension once they know that u new engrs are to replace them note also that some of them or there relatives site this forumI think you need to understand what this sector iڪ all about better, especially what Privatisation iڪ all about. Nobody iڪ sacking 2000 staff. But any of them can go. Definately not all. Let me point out that most Phcn engineer will still retain their jobs. Phcn as well as other industrial companies categorise their workers broadly into 2. †ђξ technical and †ђξ non-technical staff. Phcn SEEM TO have more than enof non-technical staff but a drought of technical staff. So your going there iڪ not particularly to replace bt to learn on †ђξ job and work. You need to know also that for over 15 years, no engineer has been normally employed into phcn. This iڪ because of †ђξ embargo placed on recruitment in phcn. Hence, many of †ђξ so-called phcn engineers today are ready to pass knowledge cos many of them are very close to their retirement. I hope this helps. Fellow Engineers, I have a plea. This thread iڪ being read by so many pple (even non engineers). Some english language construction and usage here leaves much more to be desired. Little mistakes are unavoidable and permissible (I might have also committed some blunder). But pls let's watch it. ⌣»̶·̵̭̌·̵̭̌✽̤̈̊Ŧђɑ̤̥̈̊п̥̥̲̣̣̣kƨ̣̣̣̇̇̇̇✽̤̈̊·̵̭̌·̵̭̌«̶⌣ |

mstpee: ... @ Walllex: tanx man for dis info... Correct man!! On that note, i wanted to find out too.. Is der a likelihood that one will remain in his place of orientation after the orientation has been concluded? Or will u be posted to another location? Are u @ liberty to choose that after the orientation or they will jst work with the two choice you had made earlier on? 2ndly, dis rented accomodation u talked abt, hw many pple can stay der and hw much will it come to for the 3mnths that one will hv to stay there? Do the landlords even accept 3mnths rent? 3rdly, like how many locations will one be posted to b4 the programmme is concluded? Also does naptin provide lunch or smfng in the course of the postings or classroom teachings? Tanx.......Let me answer ♈ōϋя last question first. Perhaps †ђξ most interesting part of any of †ђξ classroom training after †ђξ knowledge ♈ōϋ'll acquire iڪ †ђξ tea-break and lunch. Apart from †ђξ last last module which was a bit not up τ̅☺......, ♈ōϋ go chop wetin ♈ōϋ no chop for house. Its ok. You will do orientation and your module works in †ђξ classrooms called RTCs. There are presently 5 in †ђξ country that are functional and two of them in Lagos as ♈ōϋ knw. Hence you can't do fieldwork in †ђξ classroom. ♈ōϋ will have to be in a station. However, some RTCs are built close to some stations (that iڪ if you like to be in those stations). Finally, if ♈ōϋя 3months iڪ in Lagos, you don't expect †ђξ cost to be same with someone whose posting will be in kaduna |
chiayuk: Gud morng all. Pls can dos of u who hv undergone naptin program b4 enlghten us . Pls can u brief us on d cost of accomodatn during and afta orientatn in akangba or lagos. Is d orientatn centre diff from primary postg, is it a different state n hw is d average cost of accomodatn in other states. Pls i need ur help. Thank you.Cost of accommodation iڪ relative. In akangba, if you can negotiate well (which many guys did) 2 pple to a room @5k per night, meaning that each person pays 2.5k. This iڪ for some hotels around that considered guys who came for the training. You do the calculation. If u have someone who stays in Lagos, you may also put up there for the number of days. This was what majority did. After orientation, your new accomodation will depend on where you are posted for field work. Definately ♈ōϋ can't go for hotels there (except if ♈ōϋ can afford sha). What most pple do iڪ, if ♈ōϋ don't have where to stay, den ♈ōϋ go for a rented apartment. But you are at liberty to choose where ♈ōϋ want ♈ōϋя field posting to be. aπϑ ♈ōϋ shuld definately consider accomodation issues before you fill in where ♈ōϋ want ♈ōϋя posting to be. Ka ji? |
President Jonathan again has commissioned the phase 2 of the Omotosho Power Plant. The phase 2 plant is an NIPP project poised to generate over 500MW and add same to the national grid. The phase 1 of the power plant has about 335MW installed capacity. Today's commissioning is coming 2 weeks after the commissioning of the phase 2 Geregu Power plant |

gibits: Authentic2013 is a scam. He never got any TCN job and he never went to TCN office. He is just here to deceive people. Check all his previous post you will understand what am saying. He was the same person that claimed to get A txt long ago before the actual time when others were called for their appointment letters. Check his other post. U will understand what i mean. He has been unreal dat was even the reason for his choice of name authentic2013.You got a point. Past posts can be used to ascertain †ђξ seriousness or otherwise of a person. I think authentic ♓α§ succeeded in breaking †ђξ silence, and I think that could be his aim. However, that TCN iڪ confused, I have a reason to agree. But that they will cancel †ђξ exercise, that sounds unbelievable. |
Kokomi: MOMENT OF SILENCE?It becomes risky to post any info u have here. When u do, there will sure be 'big-mouthed' pple to not just criticise, but abuse. Some will say u are discouraging them and others will say u claim to knw all. We shall all wait till every info becomes public. I'm not saying however that unverified info shuld be posted here to unnecessarily raise hope. Have I broken ur silence Kokomi? |
Kudos Prof. All I knw is dat I am an ASUU member by virtue of my profession as a university don. But I'm not proud of being one. Education is not adequately funded I believe, but we are too greedy. My question is: Is d health sector adequately funded? Are even d Prisons adequately funded? Don't even go to infrastructures: roads, water, etc... And even creation of jobs. Look sir, its a general problem. We can't shut down d country because of ASSU's greed. Top in our demand now is 'earned allowance'. That's what Fagge emphasises each time. I submit, we are greedy, despite d fact that I agree that politicians also squander our resources. If we want more money, we can still join politics. |
They shuld not put their own there o. When we are tired, we will call of ASUU strike. I'm ashamed be of ASUU member. Nonsense!!! |
