Good advice mixed with terrible ones.
For me when you driving at whatever speed that suits your experience and you observe that your brake system has gone awol, first thing you need to do is get your head in the game. Be very decisive on what to do to beat or avoid collision with the traffic.
For auto:
If your speed is above 40kmph leave the gear on drive release your thruttle completely and continuously pump your breaks. This will slowly decrease your speed.
Apply your hand break gently to help decrease your speed and be on the lookout for elevated slope which is always not too far out. Engage your neutral once you notice the car is ascending pull your hand brake gradually till it all up. Pray no mumu taxi driver de your front.

For manual,
Same thing get your head cleared and stay focused. Downshift your gear gradually (release your clutch gently) till you get to hear one. Your car go Hala o but forget it, it will definitely be fine. Once you get to gear one, your speed will be very controllable, look for high ground to peach your car or if you get an elevated slope, once you close to 15-10kmph, turn off your engine completely but don't remove the key, put your gear back to one and release the clutch fully. Your car will jack to a full stop.
