The Federal Government, on Thursday, confirmed committing the sum of N5.9 billion on training, tooling and monthly stipends for the Batch C beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme in Kano State. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq made the disclosure at the closing ceremony of not less than 177 youths, who benefited, from the government’s training on Smart Phone Repairs and Services under the N-Skills programme, a component of the N-Power programme in Kano. The Minister, who was represented by the Special Assistant to the President on N-Skills, Dr Nasir Mahmoud, disclosed that about 16,629 youths were currently benefiting from the programme (under Batch C) in the state, noting that about 18,042 had already benefitted in the Batch A and B of the programme. Farouq warned the N-Skills beneficiaries against selling their starter packs, which were handed over to them after the programme, adding that it was well-conceived to rescue them from unemployment and transform them into employers of labour. “We have had such experience in the past, whereby beneficiaries were engaged in selling of the starter packs, which is rather unfortunate. Do not sell them, as they are meant for your judicious use to bail you out of the unemployment circle and transform you to employers of labour.” https://mydailyplug.com/fg-trains-177-youths-on-smart-phone-repairs-with-n5-9-billion/

He was 83 years old and the longest reigning Alaafin ever, having ruled for 52 years. The Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, has passed on, PREMIUM TIMES can report. Alaafin Adeyemi, the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, died in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. The remains of the top Yoruba traditional ruler were brought to Oyo in the early hours of Saturday and traditional rites began, palace sources told this newspaper. He was 83 years old and the longest reigning Alaafin ever, having ruled for 52 years. The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is expected to make an official announcement upon receiving the report of the monarch’s passing from the Bashorun of Oyo, Yusuf Akinade, the head of the ‘Oyo Mesi’, who will now lead Oyo before a new Alaafin is installed. The monarch had been sick and a plan had been made to fly him abroad before he passed on late Friday night. A source familiar with the medical travel plan said his tickets and those of a few wives were already procured. His death came after the two other senior Oyo State monarchs – the Olubadan of Ibadan, Saliu Adetunji, and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Jimoh Oyewumi – died. All happened in less than five months. A new Olubadan has been installed but the Soun remains vacant. With the demise of Alaafin Adeyemi, it is now the turn of the Agunloye Ruling House to produce the next Oyo monarch. Mr Adeyemi’s predecessor, Bello Ladigbolu, was from the Agunloye House. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/525342-breaking-alaafin-of-oyo-top-yoruba-monarch-is-dead.html

Recreational marijuana is legal in 18 states, Washington, D.C., and Guam. On Election Day in 2012, voters in Colorado approved a ballot initiative legalizing the recreational use and sale of cannabis, making the state the first in the U.S. to do so. Seventeen other states, Washington, D.C., and Guam would go on to legalize the drug in the next nine years as public support for legalization rose rapidly – despite marijuana being illegal at the federal level. Some strains of the cannabis plant – often called marijuana or weed – contain a psychoactive compound called THC that produces a "high" when ingested. Today, support for marijuana legalization has become mainstream among Democratic politicians, and some Republicans also back the idea. State legislatures are grappling with if and how to legalize the drug, while several marijuana-related bills – including those aiming to decriminalize it on the federal level – have been introduced in Congress. Most recently, the House passed a marijuana decriminalization bill on April 1, 2022, but it was facing an uncertain future in the Senate. Opponents say marijuana poses a public health and safety risk, and some are morally against legalization. Proponents, however, argue that it is not as dangerous as alcohol and point to evidence that it has therapeutic benefits, such as stress and pain relief. Advocates also see it as a moneymaker for states and a necessary social justice initiative. Marijuana laws have disproportionately affected people from minority communities, contributing to mass incarceration. States where the drug is legal have sought to retroactively address the consequences of marijuana prohibition, often including provisions allowing for the expungement or vacation of low-level marijuana convictions. States where recreational marijuana is legal: Colorado Washington Alaska Oregon Washington, D.C. California Maine Massachusetts Nevada Michigan Vermont Guam Illinois Arizona Montana New Jersey New York Virginia New Mexico Connecticut Retail marijuana could hit the shelves in Vermont in the fall of 2022, according to television station WCAX. The District of Columbia is set to have a regulated recreational market as soon as August 2022, but a proposed budget in Congress could keep a ban on sales in the district in place. Meanwhile, Guam officials in November 2021 got closer to launching the territory’s own industry by contracting with Metrc, a provider of cannabis regulatory systems.. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/where-is-marijuana-legal-a-guide-to-marijuana-legalization?context=amp

All Presidential aspirants from various political parties will converge on the State House Conference Centre at 06:30 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, for a Ramadan Iftar dinner with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari. In an invitation letter sighted by The PUNCH, the invitees were instructed not to come along with their mobile devices, except for their invitation cards which would serve as their entry pass. However, this directive will not apply to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and governors and ministers who are expected to be at the meeting; The PUNCH learnt. In a phone interview with our correspondent, the spokesperson of the First Lady, Aliyu Abdullahi, who confirmed the meeting said, “There is nothing here. This is a standard operational protocol in the Villa when you are having a meeting with either of the three occupants of the Presidency. I “f they are coming for an event, this is supposed to be DSS enforced when the president is having an event or the Vice President is having an event or the first lady is having an event. Because outsiders will come. That’s the security and standard protocol. “That does not apply to the Vice President. How can you expect that to apply to the Vice President or even to ministers?” https://punchng.com/come-without-phones-aisha-buhari-invites-presidential-aspirants-to-dinner/?amp

Nigeria is known to be one of the largest crude oil-producing countries in Africa, and ranked the 6th oil producer in the world. It produces an average of about 2million barrels of crude oil per day. 70% of every oil produced in Nigeria comes from the Niger-Delta region of the country, which constitutes about 7% of the Nigeria’s land mass. In this piece, we shall look at the list of oil well owners in Nigeria. With Niger-Delta being the highest oil-producing region in Nigeria, therefore one does not need a prophet to tell him that most oil blocks in Nigeria are located in that region. Niger Delta is a region within the South-South geopolitical zone in Nigeria. Kindly note that some states in South East such as Anambra, Abia and Imo state are among the oil-producing states in Nigeria, and some part of Abia and Imo constitute the Niger Delta. Also, some states in the South-west like Ondo and Logas are counted as the oil states. List of oil producing state in Nigeria Oil-producing states in Nigeria are; Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ondo, and Lagos. The amount of oil each of these states produces is not evenly distributed; in the sense that one state produces high or lower than the others. For example; Akwa Ibom state, Delta state, Rivers state and Bayelsa State all together produce about 90% of all oil produced in Nigeria, while other states combined together share the remaining 10 percentage. Note: The list below is the not the full list, some secretly own oil well. And also some owned oil well by proxy. So, have it in mind that this is not the full list. Below are the list of oil well owners in Nigeria; Atiku Abubakar, Alhaji Mohammed Ludimi, Alhaji W.I.
