Foreign Affairs › Welsh First Minister: The United Kingdom 'is Over', New Union To Be Crafted by Warripikine(op): 7:54pm On Mar 09, 2021
The United Kingdom 'is over' and a new union should be crafted to reflect a 'voluntary association of four nations', Wales’ First Minister has said

The United Kingdom “is over” and a new union should be crafted to reflect a “voluntary association of four nations”, Wales’ First Minister has said.

Mark Drakeford insisted the break-up of the UK will happen if politicians only offered a “tweaking of the status quo”, and said Boris Johnson’s lack of engagement with the devolved nations undermined efforts to keep them together.

His virtual appearance at the Welsh Affairs Committee on Thursday was broadcast from an outbuilding at the bottom of his garden in Cardiff, where he was said to be self-isolating “as a precaution” after coming into contact with someone who had tested positive for coronavirus.

Mr Drakeford told MPs a new devolution settlement was needed after the pandemic had caused a rise in polarised opinions about Wales’ future, including support for Welsh independence as well as for abolishing devolution.

He said: “I do think the effect of the pandemic and the last 12 months has been to polarise opinion in Wales about the way it should be governed.

“What we have to do – to quote a Conservative member of the Senedd, David Melding – is we have to recognise that the union as it is, is over. We have to create a new union.

“We have to demonstrate to people how we can recraft the UK in a way that recognises it as a voluntary association of four nations, in which we choose to pool our sovereignty for common purposes and for common benefits.”

Mr Drakeford said the “relatively random basis” on which the UK Government engages with the devolved Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland administrations “is not a satisfactory basis to sustain the future of the United Kingdom”.

“There is no institutional architecture to make the United Kingdom work,” he said.

“It is all ad-hoc, random, and made up as we go along. And I’m afraid that really is not a satisfactory basis to sustain the future of the UK.

“And if I have an anxiety about the lack of regular engagement between the Prime Minister and other parts of the UK, it is more that I think without that then the security of the future of the UK becomes more difficult.

Ghana, Togo, Benin Republic, Others Will Enjoy Free Oil Under Biafran Government – IPOB

The statement clarified further that some neighbouring West African countries would enjoy free petroleum products from Biafra to show that it was not seeking independence because of oil money.

The Indigenous People of Biafra says it will grant political asylum to Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria when it breaks away from the country.

The group disclosed this in a press release made available to SaharaReporters by its spokesman, Emma Powerful on Tuesday.

In the statement, IPOB said the promise is to assure Northern Christians allegedly facing persecution that Biafra is only against the Fulani-led Nigerian government.

"We the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, want to inform Christian communities in Northern Nigeria that they have nothing to worry about in a disintegrated Nigeria.

"Our leader made this solemn pledge during his live broadcast on March 8, 2021 during which he also assured them that they will be granted automatic settlement rights in the new Biafra when Nigeria finally implodes as every other failed state before it has done.

"Biafra will not allow Northern Christians who are currently at the mercy of marauding Fulani Islamic terrorists to be roasted by the supporter of APC Sharia North that are eager to decimate indigenous communities of Northern Nigeria.

"Our leader has assured them under divine oath that any Northern Christian willing to live in Biafra land can come and settle. Northern Christians shall be granted political asylum in Nigeria to pursue their legitimate careers."

The statement clarified further that some neighbouring West African countries would enjoy free petroleum products from Biafra to show that it was not seeking independence because of oil money.

"He equally promised to give free oil and gas to Ghana, Togo, Benin Republic, Ivory Coast, the Gambia and other countries in West Africa and Africa at large.

"This is to prove to them that the agitation for Biafra autonomy is not driven by the quest to control oil money. Rather, our struggle for self-rule is borne out of our desire to set the entire black race free from subjugation.

"Biafra wants to have neighbours that are free and peaceful so they can also benefit from our prosperity and enterprise.

"The independence of Biafra is the beginning of freedom for the black race! An independent Biafra will defend indigenous communities in Nigeria against Fulanisation and attack by terrorists."

How are you certain the op is an easterner? It could be a Fulani Monika..
In a faceless forum such as this where you really can't say who is truly from where, its not the right thing to just assume that anyone that opens an anti Yoruba thread is certainly from the east..
The yorubas sided with the north against the biafrans, is it the same biafrans that are killing the yorubas right now and calling them slaves..?

That shows that the yorubas fought on the wrong side of the battle, even though it took long to realize this but now, time is teaching the Yoruba's that indefatigable lesson..

Instead of us to try to live our life to correct the errors of our fathers, we are basking in the euphoria of their mistake..

The easterners have always chosen the path of freedom even though it cause them lives..and they are getting close but Now the Yoruba and those coming after them are loosing their landz and identity..
Their fathers laughed then, but the easterners are having the last laugh..

Cook some frivolous allegation against them, Lock them up without trial, deny them bail, torture them etc etc..

I just hope the opc and in extension the yorubas are ready for the long battle ahead..their resolve will definitely be tested..
In times past they used to say that the igbos dont love themselves, now Let's see how much the yorubas love themselves..

OBALOLA55:
Some members of Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, loyal to Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, who arrested Fulani warlord, Isikilu Wakili have been transferred by the Oyo State Police Command to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, allegedly on the orders of a top presidential aide.

The OPC members were part of a joint security team that apprehended an alleged notorious Fulani herder, Abdullah Wakilu, at Ayete in Oyo State.

Wakilu has been accused several times by indigenes of Ibarapa area of masterminding kidnappings and killings of innocent people in the area.

According to Vanguard, the OPC members involved in the arrest were first transferred from Oyo Police Command to Force CID in Alagbon, Lagos, from where they were taken to Abuja.

A source, who was privy to Wakili’s arrest, said a top presidential aide had warned some traditional rulers in Ayete and Ibarapaland not to touch Wakilu.

“I told the OPC guys not to arrest Wakilu because the Oba of Ayete told me that there is a presidential order on Wakili and that he should not be touched.

“When the team that went to arrest Wakili got there, I was called and I told them that members of our group should back down from the operation and that those going there to apprehend Wakilu would be arrested.

“Oba Ayete said a top presidential aide called him and warned him that nothing must happen to Wakilu. All the steps taken by the OPC guys and the team were already known by the Presidency. All the OPC guys arrested are on their way to Abuja. Wakili has foot soldiers doing the work for him.

“If you observed well, Wakilu pretended that he was not well. They burnt the man’s house but the police are now claiming that they burnt Wakili’s wife in it. That is the case the police will use against the OPC boys.

“It was a trap set for the OPC boys and they will be jailed for it. Wakilu was used as bait for a trap. I was reliably informed that they were moved from Eleyele to Force CID at Alagbon in Lagos.

“From there, they have been taken to Abuja. Sunday Igboho would have also been arrested but he withdrew at the last minute,” the source said.

The arrest of the OPC members came as Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday, vowed to prevent a miscarriage of justice on the recent arrests of some OPC members.

Similarly, the arrest also elicited angry reactions from the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams; the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere; Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the Agbekoya Farmers’ Association, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF; the Middle Belt Forum, MBF and the Mzough U Tiv Worldwide.

•My successors dismantled our strategies and ‘killed’ Diamond bank

Former Group Managing Director, Diamond Bank Plc and two-time governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has asserted that handing the Igbo Nigeria’s presidency would not solve the problem of Nigeria, insisting that some fundamental structural problems must first be dealt with for an egalitarian society to be institutionalised.

The renowned economist also averred that insecurity would persist in the country until the issue of poverty among the citizens is addressed.

He said: “A situation where close to 90 million people, representing 43 per cent of our population, live below the poverty line of less than 1.90 dollar per day, makes the country a veritable candidate for insecurity of the highest order.”

He explained why Diamond Bank was acquired after he left the bank, accusing those who succeeded him of dismantling the bank’s strategies, thereby making the acquisition inevitable.

Excepts:
What are your thoughts on Igbo presidency? How can this become a reality?

If you have followed my politics, you would realise that I do not believe in primordial sentiments. I believe that tribe and religion are basically smokescreens used by politicians to drive personal interests. Having said that, I also know that arrangements about power shift have remained the fulcrum of our politics in Nigeria. That is not to say that our salvation is going to come from that. Given that arrangement that has had power move from North to South and power having been in the North for two terms, it should naturally move to the South. Since South-West and South-South had been in power, it should naturally shift to the South East. That is the extent to which I believe in Igbo Presidency.

Would that solve the problem of Nigeria? I think not. There are some fundamental structural problems that must be dealt with for an egalitarian society to be institutionalised.

cease arbitrary arrests, and stop the use of violence against peaceful protesters..
