Herdsmen crisis: Ogun residents now sleep in Benin Republic for protection – Red Cross

The Nigeria Red Cross Society has said thousands of residents of Yewa axis of Ogun State now sleep in Benin Republic to avoid being killed by herdsmen terrorising the area.

The Red Cross said the people relocated to the neighbouring country following attacks by suspected herdsmen.

The Ogun State executive branch secretary of the Red Cross, Oluwole Aboyade, said this on Wednesday.

Aboyade said he and his team visited the troubled areas – Igbooro, Asa, Moro, Ibeku and Agbon-Ojodu, lamenting that the people of Yewa were “living in unfavourable condition”.

According to him, many had deserted their homes to seek refuge in Benin.

He said, “What I saw there alongside my team, I will term it a very serious disaster.

“The people have deserted their homes and they now sleep in Benin Republic. You can imagine people leaving Nigeria to seek protection in another country. The situation is more than pathetic.”

Meanwhile, the Red Cross said it would seek assistance from Nigerians to help in bringing succour to the residents of the affected Yewa communities.

In some communities in the three local government areas, it may be difficult to distinguish between the houses in Benin Republic and the ones in Nigeria due to lack of proper boundary demarcation.

Can't quite put my finger on what the issue is between kel and Brendan. I'm absolutely convinced that over a full season playing regularly he's a 30 goal a season striker. Yes, he doesn't do the running of Vardy but there's no denying he knows how to find the back of the net. Weirdly there's an argument that the fact his only contribution in some games is a goal it's actually a good thing as it means his goals are evenly distributed which is a positive if you're a team like us that doesn't concede a huge amount as you'll likely pick up more points.

I know some might say he's been here a while and hasn't cemented his place in the starting XI under various managers which is a valid point but conversely the form Vardy has been in the past few year's very few striker's in world football would have dislodged him from the team.

What I don't get is that now Vardy is clearly struggling (albeit due to injury) why he's not being given a fair chance. It's one of the things that frustrates me with Brendan at times. Despite being a very good coach he has the DNA of an England manager selecting players based on personal preference rather than form or merit.
He'd obviously argue it works and it's difficult to dispute that given that we're sat 3rd in the league but it begs the question of whether leicester could achieve more if he wasn't so stubborn at times. As Nigel Pearson used to say 'it's a game of fine margins' .

Don't be deceived. This is live from Warri. A basket of tomatoes skyrocketed from 4k to 14k ,later to 16k. They targeted the entire south.

Politics › In Nigeria,Oil From The South Is Used To Subsidize Agric In The North by Warripikine(op):
Nigeria currently operates a very unfair system whereby Agriculture in the north is being subsidized with proceeds from the sale of southern crude oil..yet the north gets to choose whether or not to sell its farm produce to the south Or export to neighboring countries..

This is grossly unjust and unfair.. cry cry

Politics › #EndSARS: DSS slams Terrorism charge on Rights activist, Israel Joe by Warripikine(op): 10:00am On Mar 02, 2021
SARS: Police has slammed terrorism charge on me – Rights activist, Israel Joe.

The Coordinator of the #ENDSARS protest in Warri, Delta State, Comrade Israel Joe has cried out over alleged victimization by the police.

The human rights activist in a statement sent to DAILY POST, said he has been reinvited to appear before the Police headquarters on Thursday

According to Joe,”, they have prepared to charge me for terrorism and Cyber crime due to the alarm I raised following the accident at PTI where the police caused the death of a woman and the child.

“The petition was written by one activist called Wong Box.
An inside source told me they are arraigning me along with my colleague in Asaba in the Federal High Court so that we can be remanded to Ogwachiukwu prison.

“This was as a result of the bitterness they already nursed against me for leading the #EndSars protest in Delta State.

“I will appear before them on Thursday, and even if I’m remanded, we will remain resolute in our firm stand against police brutality and victimization.

“The case is being handled by one SP Bola Alabi from state CID Asaba; he was the person who called me personally to appear before them on Thursday.”

“He has to come first. This is democratic era. Nobody can just infringe on anybody’s right. He has to come and hear the reason he is being called. Even if the Police hold him, it is not the police that have the power to prosecute him. Even if police hold him and charge him to court, it’s the Court’s discretion to know what to do. He should just come.”

The police image maker said he was unaware of the reason the human rights activist was invited.
