ASUU thinks government should foot the bill.
I think the burden should be shared by government and students/their sponsors.
The government and students have been overstretched leaving the private sector as the only possible solution if promised tax breaks.

You are a very sad fellow solely here to launder the image of this failed and lifeless administration.

The satellite launch was a collaborative effort with FUTA and you dare try to water it down.

What infrastructures has the Nigerian government invested in the Universities or in Nigeria in general to facilitate easy launch of rockets/satellites into space?

See! Just carry your APC barge with your chest and stop insulting our intelligence with biased sycophantic sound bites.
Cheers.
So, a Biafran like me is now an APC member according to you.?

OK, no problem.

Let me help you out to see things clearly.

How much do FG generate.?

How much do each sector of Nigeria requires.?

When you have done the calculation, you will realize that, only the private sector can solve this problem if fused with the universities to help upgrade the labs/workshops and then the research works commercialized to generate more money to repay the private sector who then pay taxes to government as well as further support the universities.
olujastro, this is what I have been trying to enlighten our people which you also reechoed above.

You're preaching to the choir.

What if I told you that personally I have secured the support of multiple corporate entities on projects targeting students? Now extrapolate and guess what the picture looks like university-wide. It still isn't enough. Until we find a way to completely reboot the system in terms of personnel and facilities, we can't consistently offer the companies anything of value. That's the blunt truth. That rebooting is already underway (previous strike actions have been tremendously beneficial; TETFUND in particular has been a fantastic asset, warts and all) but we're not there yet.

I never implied this. Don't confuse me with someone else.
OK

Tell us where the funds will be gotten to reboot the system.

I went to a Federal government secondary school, FGCL to be precise. And the standard of education was and is still very good with quality teachers and OK infrastructure.
Public secondary education is largely run by the states and that's where the mess is compared to private schools.

If govt jacks up the fees and makes it unaffordable to the public just to improve quality, then what differentiates govt from private schools?

My problem with ASUU is...
Are Universities the only institutions that require funding in Nigeria?
Why are you guys always in a hurry to embark on strike actions? Always comparing yourselves with National Assembly members and their salaries.
We know they earn crazy wages. But if all institutions including health, transport went on strike for similar reasons, how will you survive?

If we fund universities the way ASUU wants it, what happens to health, roads, rails, power, housings, ports, etc.? So Nigerians including the lecturers should die on bad roads?
Nigeria is a developing country so ASUU must be reasonable and less arrogant in making funding demands.
Let's all focus on good governance and electing less corrupt people into office, as this is the only way to gradually build all sectors of the country.
proffemi, read this above from another member of NL in order to understand that FG has limited funds for all the sectors of Nigeria.

Stop supporting the Fraudulent politicians to destroy Tertiary education in Nigeria just like public primary and secondary schools.

People like you are the reason why the world laugh at the black people.

The satellite and rocket launched weren't built by FUTA.

Tell FUTA to build a mini rocket and satellite before taking them serious.

What they did overseas, was to observe the launching procedure.
EducationRe: ASUU Strike: Nigerian Govt Orders Universities To Implement ‘no Work, No Pay’ by Warship: 10:12am On Dec 01, 2018
ADUBA1:
you are the one that do not understand ASUU demand. ASUU is asking that the University should be upgraded to international standard, after which they can now collaborate with industries for research and development. it was agreed that this upgrad will be gradual for a period of 5 years. This is because ASUU understand that FG does not have what the funds to do the upgrade ones. It is after this upgrade that the University can now become fully autonomous, linking up with industries and fg projects and thus generating more funds without the need to increase school fees to get quality education
Let me help you out to see things clearly.

How much do FG generate.?

proffemi:
Since you know the part I highlighted above, I believe you also know what students pay in those nations. Are you saying ASUU should stop fighting the FG and let students can pay more? If so, you will suddenly find that we are on the same side.

If we want functional public tertiary education, someone must pay.
The universities need more support but take note that the direct involvement of the private sector is the solution and not the government.

What ASUU should ask the government is to fuse the private sector with the universities in such a way that the research works from the upgraded labs/workshops will be commercialized to the benefit of the private sector, universities and government.

Get the point if you want to solve the problem.

Government do not have unlimited resources as you think.

Your hatred for Buhari has eaten you so deep to the extent you so much believe that nothing good can come out from him.

Buhari thanked the Irish ambassador for the humanitarian aid they supplied to the SE during the civil war.

And your assertion that president shouldn't hate any region of his country, Buhari didn't hate you guys in the first place your hatred towards him makes you believe that he hates you, it is a self delusion.

BTW POTUS Trump came out vividly in an open space and said all nasty words to African Americans, are they not US citizens? And yet many of you folks from the eastern region cherish him and hailed him, that's hypocrisy man!
After shooting down their relief planes, you are now thanking them.

Take Note

Lol.
Folks think a problem is a piece of cake till they have to solve it.
I think you'll find that ETF (now TETFUND) already placed some burden on the industry.
Your solution has already been deployed tay-tay as ETF. It's not enough.
You and ASUU do not still understand the difference between collecting money from industries and connecting industries to universities.

Eg

Tell Nigerian Breweries that, Unilag labs/workshops are under it's care and will be given tax breaks every 10years and you will see how upgraded Unilag labs/workshops will become.

Sometimes I blame ASUU when I read posts like this. One solution to this problem has always been to jerk up school fees. Someone has to fund the system, and if you folks don't want us to make government do it, then go ahead and pick up the slack.

Funny how you guys don't realize that government has already gotten away with murder at the secondary level. Today, public secondary schools are increasingly an option for only the poor. If you want qualitative secondary education for your kids, you know what to do. No strike, no tantrums, no name-calling or demonizing. If you're poor, you take your kids to podunk college, where their odds of ever seeing the 4 walls of a federal university become almost zero.

Someone wants to destroy public universities in a similar way. It's either government, or fools who don't realize what's at stake, or parents who don't want to pay for top education. ASUU won't let that happen (and you lot better hope ASUU doesn't just throw in the towel in disgust).

The irony is this: whatever happens, the lecturers are the ones who will suffer the least.

And, lest I forget, yeah, we're ready for no-work-no-pay. Bring it on.
Both ASUU and You still haven't discovered that the real solution do not lie with the government but with the private sector

ASUU should tell the Government to make it compulsory for all big companies to be connected to all Nigerian Universities so as help upgrade the labs/workshops.

The federal Government should also implement and order all political appointee , Commissioner, Ministers, Governor and the presidency to send their children to Federal Univeristies in Nigeria.
Until their children school in Nigeria, these selfish leaders will not spend adequately on our university.
ASUU should stop expecting the Government to fund universities perfectly well but to convince the Government to link up every university with a world class company for assistance under the term corporate social responsibilities.

angry FG should let ASUU fix the tuition fee of its own university and fully govern it self like top universities in Africa, Europe and america does. Its very clear FG can't fund a standard 21st century university, with minimum of masters degree holder as its teaching staffs, so there is no point bullying them. If government wants to help, it should be through scholarships and student loans to deserving students, and research grants on areas challenging Nigeria. And let's be realistic, No civil servant runs his/her personal business like they run Nigerian agencies and department, non of them can pay a staff who doesn't show up for work
That can only happen in private universities.

Government universities are controlled by government policies.

They don't give monthly salary allocation. Salaries are paid directly to staff from central bank. However, the universities still prepare the salaries and advice Abuja on what to pay on a month by month basis.
Pls, listen and learn

Universities aren't under IPPIS payroll system and therefore, the universities are given the salaries of staff to pay the staff.
EducationRe: ASUU Strike: Nigerian Govt Orders Universities To Implement ‘no Work, No Pay’ by Warship:
The Federal Government should withhold the salaries of all Academic Staff if they want the No Work No Pay directive to be successful. Otherwise, the Vice Chancellors and the various Universities will keep paying the striking Lecturers therefore, emboldening them to be adamant on their position.

FG, should find out the actual personnel cost of each University Academic Staff and deduct it before giving the various universities their monthly salary allocations for Non Academic Staff.

you still believe he is a cloned?

It is only in Africa people reason with their ass not brains.

Read this piece below...

*President Buhari, the Imaginative Clone and Human Genetics.*

*By, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, OON.*

Ordinarily, I wouldn't like to involve myself in the nauseating debate about the rumoured cloning of President Muhammadu Buhari and the imaginative Jibril Aminu of Sudan because it is rubbish in the face of scientific realities.

As a Nigerian who bagged Ph.D degree in Human Genetics in congenital malformations arising from chromosomal aberrations in 1975 and had Post-Doctoral Research in mutagenesis and carcinogenesis, I consider myself as competent to comment on the needless controversy.

For a 75 years old adult to be cloned, a living cell must be obtained and subjected to some manipulations that will convert it to totipotent cell. The totipotent cell will now undergo embryological development that will produce a young human fetus.

It should be noted that for the fetus to grow and become a replica to a 75 years adult, it will take 75 years to grow.

It must also be said that the phynotypical presentation of a man is a product of interaction between his genotype and the environment.

Therefore, for the clone to look like the same man, it must be exposed to the exact environment for a period equivalent to 75 years.

It is therefore ridiculous for anybody to think Mr President has been cloned and that the person who is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a clone from Sudan.

Instructively, I have had opportunity to have one-on-one interactions with Mr President before he took ill and after his recovery, there is nothing to suggest that Nigeria is governed by a clone of President Muhammadu Buhari.

I will therefore appeal to Nigerians to stop making insinuations and statements that ridicule our beloved country in the global scientific world.

*Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, OON is the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District.*

Nnamdi Kanu said lookalike/impostor and not clone.

Even Atiku never mentioned clone but duplicity.
