Nairaland General2nd Boko Haram Attack In 2 Days Kills 36 In Borno State by watchthisposter(op):
About 27 persons were feared killed in Sabon Gari village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, following the invasion of the village
by members of the Boko Haram sect.
Sources said the latest attack, which took place at about 6p.m. on Tuesday, left about 20 innocent civilians dead, while seven others were killed while trying to bury their dead yesterday.
This happened as the terrorist group murdered another nine civilians in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of the state, when the terrorist group launched an attack on Huyim village yesterday.
Two days ago, some suspected members of the terrorists group had attacked the neighbouring Mandafuma village in Biu Local Government Area of the state, injuring one person, while property
worth millions of naira were destroyed.
In what seemed like a serial attack on the
southern part of the troubled state, the terrorists also blew off the main bridge linking Maiduguri-Damboa-Madafuma- Biu Road at the weekend.
It was gathered that the terrorists, who had retreated on Tuesday, regrouped and launched another attack on Sabon Gari, killing those that had gone to the cemetery to bury the dead.
Fleeing residents disclosed that many people were seriously injured during the attack, while property worth millions of naira were equally destroyed.
Sabon Gari is about 40 kilometres drive from Biu in southern Borno, and 145 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital.
The attack, which was the second in two days, occurred barely 12 days after the deadly attack on Damboa town where a Commanding Officer of 195 Battalion and the Divisional Police Officer, 16 soldiers and six policemen alongside several
terrorists lost their lives, a situation that led to the withdrawal of military troops from Sabon Gari village.
A relative of one of those killed in the attack, Mallam Iliyasu Ibrahim, told THISDAY that his cousin, (name withheld) was among those killed by the terrorists on Tuesday.
Ibrahim also revealed that two of his sisters were still missing after the attack, but however prayed to God for them to be rescued.
He added that already, the village was deserted as people had fled for safety of their lives, and no security operatives were deployed to restore normalcy.
Effort to get confirmation from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jubrin, yesterday yield no result, but a top security source who was not allowed to speak to the press confirmed
the incident, saying ” more than 20 people were killed on Tuesday and Wednesday twin attacks on Sabon Gari village by suspected terrorists”.
A local vigilante told journalists yesterday that, “The Boko Haram members attacked Dille and killed 45 persons.

“ Another nine villagers were killed in Huyim Village yesterday after the
Boko Haram terrorists killed the village head of Dille, burnt many houses, Churches and left many others seriously injured.

The terrorists had invaded the mainly Christian community shooting at any possible target.

Really? So why was that treatment meted out only to the igbo tribe? The Yoruba and Hausa people who lost there account books didn't receive 20 pounds for all their life earnings, did they?

I said mass killing of civilians. Their is no record of Biafra deliberately mass killing millions of people from a particular tribe.

Nobody is saying they are angels and never killed any civilian. But genocide? Nah.

OrlandoOwoh: According to Wole Soyinka, what happened during the war was not genocide because Biafra and Nigeria killed each other. At the start of the war, Biafra was having a upper hand, to the extent that they got to Ore in the Western Region. As a result of this feat Ojukwu boasted of having the best army in black Africa. He told each Biafran soldier to bring the heads of at least 3 Nigerians soldiers.
My broda,

Soilders killing Soilders = War

Mass killing of Civilians = Genocide

OrlandoOwoh: The situation during the civil war and today's Boko Haram attacks is different. During the civil war, "Biafra" rebelled against Nigeria, and was crushed. But today, the people being killed by Boko Haram find themselves in a seemingly peace situation only to be killed surprisingly.
Ask yourself, did the United States pay reparation to the Confederal States (southern US).
Towing your line of argument, ask yourself, did the united states create a blockade around the confederation states and deliberately starve millions of them to death? Did they after the war seize all the assets belonging to civilians and return only 2 pounds each to each civilian?

AREWA elders have faulted the call by members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the Federal Government should consider payment of reparation to the Ibo for the Civil War, which was fought in the country.
The North, while reacting Tuesday to the
demands of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said the
proposition by the South-East elders that the
government should compensate the Ibo for the Biafra War was “misplaced”, pointing out that the situation surrounding the Civil War that was fought in Nigeria between 1966 and 1970, was remarkably different from the current insurgency by the Boko Haram sect.
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) chieftain and Spokesman of the Northern Delegates Forum (NDF), Mr. Anthony Sani, in a statement Tuesday, urged leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to always engage in constructive issues that would promote national unity rather than unpatriotic demands.
Sani noted: “When one hears Ohanaeze
demands trillions of naira for reparation due to
Civil War, it baffles and bewilders. The reason is because the world does not encourage
separation, let alone Civil War, which inevitably
leads to losses not only of lives but also property on both sides”.
“And so, for anybody to pay reparation amounts to encouraging Civil Wars across the globe. It is important to note that the sympathy for North- East is precisely because the state, which sought and obtained the mandate to secure their lives and property, have not been able to do so”.
However, Sani, who was the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, argued: “Therefore, the case of North-East and Biafra War are not one and the same thing. The three Rs by General Yakubu Gowon, which came after the Civil War were desirable humanitarian gestures that should not be mistaken for justification of separatist actions”.

What is your own opinion? Let bygones be bygone or compensate the igbo for their horrific losses in the Nigerian civil war which they are still struggling to overcome?

Police in Nigeria have arrested Mohammed Zakari, a senior commander of the Boko Haram sect, blamed for killing hundreds of people since 2009, a police officer said on Tuesday.

Zakari, 30, was linked to the recent killing of seven people, including women and children, Xinhua quoted police spokesperson Frank Mba as saying in a statement.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday following a massive onslaught by security forces against the activities of insurgents in the Balmo forest in Bauchi State in the northeast, Mr. Mba added.

According to him, Zakari was arrested while fleeing from intensive counter insurgency operations around the forest.

The suspect was trained at Gombe forest under the leadership of another fleeing insurgent, Abba Taura, the police spokesperson said, noting that the suspect moved to Balmo forest only three months ago.

Boko Haram is based in northeast Nigeria, north Cameroon and Niger. It seeks to establish an Islamic state ruled by sharia. The group has been declared a terrorist organisation by the US and sanctioned by the UN Security Council.

dryakson: rise or fall?... Abi you mean there's no change?
There is no change.

Basically, all solids expand on the addition of heat, except ice.

Ice is for some reason less dense than water. So if an ice cube is placed in a glass of water, as it melts its density increases, so their is no net change in volume. The water level does not change.

Forgive my earlier post, it was incorrect. Just confirmed that.

ayukdaboss: Have you walked down the friend zone path before?
Hmmm lemme see...

There was this one girl in school once, before I could/would ask her out, somehow we just hit if off and before I knew it I found myself in her room at night with her with me on her bed, just gisting about stuff - we were friends!... when she started asking me for advice on whether or not to date some guy who was asking her out I saw what was happening and sneakily orchestrated it so that we began to "drift" apart and stopped seeing each other so much, and the obsessing naturally eased over time.

*edit* did I mention she was wearing something really sexy? Everywhere was cool and quiet, we were alone in her room in school at night, just discussing.

If anybody thinks I'm going to bear that kind of torture just to be "friends", you are dead wrong.

7 steps?

1 easy step to get out of the friendzone.

Stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eye and say "she's not into me" 77 times. At the end dress up, go out and meet other people/get a life and stop obsessing. Works every time.
