My timeline just to encourage someone:

Single applicant
VO: London to Kyiv

IELTS: 8.5/8.5/7.5/8 done first trial

ITA: 17 Nov 2017

AOR: 5 Dec 2017
.
.
.
SILENCE
.
.
REQUEST FOR RE-MED: 28 Feb 2019

PPR: 8 Apr 2019
COPR: 24 Apr 2019

After waiting for 1 year and 4 months i really don't have the energy to tell any story because the truth is that there is none sef. Nothing interesting to mention. I discovered this forum after AOR while searching for info on processing times.

Gathering and submission of docs was hitch free. While waiting there were No ADR, no ghost update, nothing. Just silence. Emails and GCSM notes didn't help. i didnt get any updates after medicals passed in Dec 2017 till i was asked to redo my Medicals in 2019. I just had to wait till IRCC had my time.

What did i learn on this journey: PATIENCE

Wish all those waiting all the best. It will surely come, though it may tarry.

Telling him what industry you work in might help him answer your question appropriately. E.g A project coordinator in IT or manufacturing would have different job roles to a construction project coordinator. Your experience in an industry carries more weight than certification (an added advantage).

Yeah you are right. IT actually.

I currently work in an engineering firm as a Project coordinator, anyone who visits my linkedin would see this and use my story as an example of someone who was a Project Engineer in Nigeria and was able to land a Project coordinator role in Canada without much sweat but he would miss the bull's eye if he doesnt get a hold of me to learn more than what he can infer from my linkedin.

Hi. I noticed you mentioned you are a Project co-ordinator. I am looking for oportunities in this role.I have 3 years experience as a project coordinator, was pmp certified at some point and would mind some pointers on getting a job. Do you mind helping? i haven't landed yet but need to get ready so i hit the ground running.

Thank you. I got an invite for medicals and payment of RFPF just yesterday after i wrote the post! Medicals will be done next week.
I should be approved real soon. grin grin
Wellmanned:
Hello,

My application took 18 months before it was approved. However, my profile was updated from medical passed, then Background check in progress and no word anymore. I sent inquiries via the IRCC portal(response always generic) and ordered GCMS notes once.

Though, I was sending inquiry like every 3months but moved on with other plans for my life, till I was invited for another medicals and got approved few days after.

So just be at rest, they would invite you for another medicals soon.

Last i checked, moved from London to Kyiv.

That means your AOR was sometime in November 2017. What's your visa office? This feels like the handiwork of AVO.

Hi everyone!

I know this may not be the right place to post this but for those who have gotten COPR, PR and the likes you may be able to chime a tip or two to help especially if you were once in a similar situation.
its wil be 15 months soon since AOR and i have not heard a word from IRCC. I have sent emails, ordered GCSM notes , done everything within my power to see what is causing the hold up. Medicals has expired, they didnt even ask for a re-med yet. Last GCSM noted i got in september 2018 said security check had not started, everything else looked ok.
I am moving on with life o, but i can't help with this hanging over me like a fruit hanging from a tree but out of my reach. My sister in canada said maybe the fruit is not yet ripe so i should wait for it to drop by itself grin grin

Any tips will be appreciated on what to do besides sitting like a duck.

My medicals have expired. It will be 1 year post AOR on the 5th of December? Do i redo the medicals or just wait till CIC contacts me?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by waynetemi: 10:11am On Nov 26, 2018
I figured this must be the reason for so long delays. So many applications , so many details to check and few hands.
I only get bothered at times after waiting for almost a year when i see other people's time lines and wonder why i was not lucky enough to fall under the fast VO. it is just the anxiety and the wait that is annoying. One week from now it will be a year. grin
I hope to God i won't have to wait for 17 months like someone who posted timeline in previous thread sha. Even if I got PR today i won"t be ready to move under 5 months.

My rationale; there is a reason for every delay. I like to think of the reason as being positive in my favor. In the meantime for anyone waiting like me, get a life and be busy. It will eventually come!
joo2018:
The problem with Accra visa office is not wickedness but capacity constraints . I've spent quite a lot of idle time on canada.ca, justice.ca and all kinds of .ca. It has been interesting reading inspection and audit reports and seeing the development of the immigration program.

As at 2012, Canadian High Commission at Accra had about 69 staff of which 17 were for immigration purposes. I doubt the number of staff in the visa office has increased as the policy trend has been to centralize processing as much as possible.

These staff are structured into immigration/case officers, mission integrity/program officers, case analysts/agents and support staff. They handle permanent resident application processing for 12 countries in West Africa and temporary resident visa services for 10 of these countries. Lagos VO is the one handling the temporary resident visa services for Nigeria. The permanent resident application includes FSW and family sponsorship under the Family class.

This processing currently includes:
i. making final decisions and issuing of COPR for all permanent resident applications for the 12 countries in West Africa including those processed in Ottawa, London, Kyiv and other countries.
ii. handling the processing of complex EE FSW and FST cases including document review, scheduling and conducting of interviews if required for residents of the 12 countries.
iii. processing of outland Canada Family class sponsorship applications for permanent resident of the 12 countries.

You can imagine the work. Just how much cases can the staff process in a day? This is the reason applications spend a long time in the processing queue before being attended to.

If you want to read more, check here, here and here.

In general terms, the Canadian High Commission at Accra is rigid about following protocols. There are 2 cases of Canadians trying to adopt Nigerian kids that I've been following for awhile.

For one couple, after 3yrs of adopting, they had to return the child back to the orphanage in Nigeria and go back to Canada after the mother caught malaria and thyphoid in Accra. See here.

For the other one, the couple had been trying to adopt the kid for 3yrs. They thought Accra was almost through with processing the papers of the adopted child, so the wife took leave from work, picked the child from the orphanage home in Nigeria and went to Accra to collect the child's papers.

For where! After sending her back and forth from one office to the other, they told her her child's application was still under processing, that she cannot jump the processing queue and locked her out of the embassy gates. She stood crying under the hot African sun with her toddler.

They have refused to prioritize her case even with a lot of media pressure and attention. She is still stuck in Accra since September. She is currently seriously sick and hospitalized in Accra. Even her MP has been putting pressure. She has written to the Minister. He only replied and told her that her application is under processing.

You can read more here, here, here.

So if they can be that strict with their own citizen who they are legally mandated to serve, who is a foreign national to them? When you keep calling CIC, sending mails and disturbing MP Ralph Goodale, you are only aggravating yourself and the people you are disturbing. They can only give you status update, they cant or wont do anything to fast-track the processsing of your application.

So, get a life! Try and look for things to do move on.

Sent an email . Thanks a lot. It moved from London to Kyiv.

I pray it doesn't go beyond a year. Great how you've been able to move onto indifference. Which type of security check not started is this one? Abi you're AVO crew?

This should be his email ralph.goodale@parl.gc.ca. Kpele, it will still end in praise.

So my application (post AOR) will be a year old in about 2 weeks. No longer anxious , just indifferent now.

I sent an email two months ago to the minister for immigration but it didnt help. Just got a generic email about my security check not started. Same thing as GCSM notes. Not even going to bother with that one again. Done 3 already.

Makes me wonder if contacting Goodale will change anything. Please can someone share his correct email? Let me give it a shot so i know i have tried all avenues.

Mine will be 9 months post AOR next week. Go and channel the energy elsewhere doing something productive.

Lesson i have learned: Patience

It’s just 4days after AOR, and I’ve been signing into my account to check for update more than once a day.

How did you people stay sane o? I’ve read the suggestions here, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

I don’t know how to handle this obsession.

God help me.

Hello

I have 4 accounts with funds inclusive of a domiciliary account which i intend to use for POF. All Funds on these account amounts to about CAD 13,500. Is is ok to use all four accounts or i just move all my funds to one place? If i do this, how do i justify the singular lump sum transfers?
Does GTB, Stanbic or Access give reference in this regard?
