Is it not apparent from the way they live their lives and the choices they make? Jewish kids aren't told the same frightening stories of eternal torture that African kids endure. Jesus was not a handsome man. He was built like a middle eastern villager, or a marauding bum. Judas had to pick him out with a kiss, which indicates that he looked like the rest of the villagers and fishermen he was hanging out with. The handsome guy in the photos is just a recreation based on artistic bias. Nobody wants to serve the ugly God.

This thread should be called, 'why do Christians think that Muslims are a little nicer than atheists?' Why are atheists denigrated by Christians when Muslims are also denying God's existence? The Christian God, that is, you know... Jesus. It is the belief in a personal deity which demands companionship. Christians don't care if someone prays to a rock or a tree, because it would validate their own delusion. They can blame the action on the usual culprit, Satan, and further their own delusion by trying to convert the rock worshipper over to their imaginary friend. If I was to suggest a cause, I'd say that the biggest obstacle facing the African Christian is pride. They're much too proud to admit that they could have been deceived on this level, that the universe is really mysterious. The implications for many of them, in their present socioeconomic environment, could be profound. And then there are those who just do not tolerate suspense too well. They must have an answer and Jesus is better than the available options.

Idrismusty97: Even within Christianity some groups with a slightly different believes won't get to heaven. I see non Catholic Christians openly telling Catholics that they will go to hell. Jehovah's witness(Watch tower) have their own version of heaven. In Islam the Sunnis are fighting the Shi'as. That is just the basis of religion. It is design to favour a specify community or groups and demean all others(I don't even know how to put this). Show me one religion that wouldn't say their god is the true god, Show me one religion that wouldn't tell you to drop every other thing and join them.

The first criteria is accepting that Jesus is your lord and savior. It is then out of that pool that the fortunate candidates will emerge. I find it amusing though that Judaism doesn't have too much to say about the afterlife. God's chosen people don't believe in the hellfire which terrifies the current enslaved African. In Judaism, punishment occurs here on earth and so do the rewards. This hellfire story is for the African man and his handful of anonymous Jewish authors.

Why is atheism such a big deal? Jesus from the bible was very clear about who gets to enter heaven. Only those who accept him as lord and personal savior will get the chance. That means that Muslims might as well be atheists as far as Jesus is concerned. Are Muslims under instructions from Satan? Are Buddhists, Hindus, and Mormons carrying the Satan flag too? My friend, don't waste your mind. The answer is right before your eyes.

Dude, we all use science for EVERYTHING in life. Science fails only when imaginary creatures are proposed for consideration. It works for everything else including toothpaste, gas, tv, internet, childbirth, condoms, firearms, heart transplants, egusi soup, everything. You expect me to dismiss the logic behind the successful operations of all these things and simply accept the word of an anonymous author from the middle east?

Martian: The similarity in the stories is probably because the scope of knowledge possessed by these cultures were the same at that stage of human development.

That or they practiced religious rituals using the same plants. Entheogens usually grow in the same geographical area.

What if you died and discovered that we were right about the Bible, Jesus and God; what choice do you think will be left for you?

Think about this.

Atheists were never given a chance. The contents of the bible are silly enough that they represent an insult to the average human intelligence. Insulting someone is not the same as giving them a chance. Secondly, all non Christians, would have missed this 'obvious chance' to pick Jesus and would thereby find themselves in the exact position as the atheist. So enjoy heaven, you and the few Christians who end up making it, everyone else will be in hell, including your ancestors.

All truths must not be told. If my mother knew some of the things I did to the ladies in bed, she could easily disown me. So I keep that truth away from her, along with my beliefs.

I'm not actually. You seem to be a reasonable person. The fact that you question Jesus teachings on hell is proof that you're not completely in the fog. It doesn't matter if you call yourself a Christian or not. We're both Christians if your position is permissible in the faith. I just believe in the Jesus who stays out of human affairs, which is not the biblical one, just like yours.

So you're not a Christian. The Jesus in your head is not the same one described in the bible. The biblical version clearly says that salvation can only come through him. That's the whole point of Christian ministry, winning souls for Jesus. There wouldn't be any need for preachers or evangelists if non Christians were not headed for hellfire. If you don't accept that doctrine, then pick another religion, Jesus is not your guy. I'm dying to know who you've been praying to this whole time you didn't believe in Jesus. SMH.

How come Jews are the chosen tribe in a book written by Jewish authors? What's this whole silly thing where God is openly racist and black people aren't offended? What you are requesting is an actual divine prophecy, or an authentic revelation from God. Those only happen in the holy books, ink on paper. Real life is the one you see before your eyes everyday. We have big lottos now, with billions of dollars up for grabs. The lotto business could not exist if there was any truth to divine prophecies. Oyinbo no be madman.

As i said to someone earlier, if you dont believe in God then why waste a second of your time reading about him obsessively? I wouldnt waste my time with fairies either. You should do the same... except of course if you've got underlying issues you're unable to admit to.

Governments don't subsidize the ideology of people who believe in fairies. As long as churches continue to run their businesses without paying taxes, I will continue to ridicule the delusion. If the fairy people were to become entitled to tax free operations too, then they willl also share a piece of my mind.

You expect me to believe that you have the answers in a 2000 yr old manuscript written by men who claimed to have spoken to God somehow. Meanwhile, my eyes and ears see that others have made the exact same claim. People like the prophet Mohammed. The only difference between Paul from the bible and Mohammed from Islam is the message. But they both claimed to have encountered and spoken to somebody named God who created the earth. If Paul, Mohammed, and Matthew etc expect me to just trust them and take their word for it, as you and the Muslims have, then I say f()ck them. I don't believe the authors of your book, or the prophet Mohammed. So even if science had ZERO answers to anything, I still won't trust Paul or Mohammed enough to just take their word for it. I'd much rather trust someone African, even if he too is telling lies.

Atheists don't depend on evolution or the big bang to know that the authors of your holy book are making the s)hit up. You are making an appeal to ignorance. Even if evolution and the big bang theories are false, we're still left with ignorance. If you then claim to have the answers, then submit them for peer reviewed scrutiny. Let's find out how you arrived at those answers. If you're going to tell me that they fell from the sky directly to the authors of your book, then prepare to demostrate. Otherwise, keep clutching unto your faith in your foreign authors, and let serious people investigate nature.
