KingEbukasBlog:Lol. U dey sharp well well. I forgot the subject of the argument, that's all. I know it has something to do with God business though. |
DeepSight:After eating those bitter mushrooms, one realizes that nature is far bigger and more complex than previously imagined. Our brains are mostly under a similar level of stimulation at all times. The market woman selling onions and you with the money trying to buy are both functioning at the level of this present reference frame. However, entheogens (I take psilocybin), temporarily disconnect the subject from this reference frame and put him in another nearby one, complete with different occupants and everything. How? I dunno. Some say that it activates the pineal gland in the middle of your brain, and the eyes cease to be the primary organs for vision. It takes the responsibility away from your eyes and gives it to the pineal gland, which has its own photoreceptors and everything. Trust me when I say that this will be the LEAST of your concerns. What cannot be proven is the fact that those experiences are real. They certainly can be replicated over and over, and anyone (with proper supervision) is able to share the experience. But one has to allow for the possibility that the brain is hallucinating, although I don't buy that explanation at all. http://www.skeptiko.com/rick-strassman-psychedelic-drugs-prove-we-are-more-than-our-brain/ |
The KKK used to walk around saying the same thing, that we as a race deserved to be subservient because Providence demanded it. Why would you believe that part of the bible, and then ignore the part which says that EVERYONE who believes in Jesus can drink an entire bottle of Clorox without experiencing any health issues? Before you believe the story of Ham, try to read the rest of the book. |
DeepSight:I wrote about consciousness being remote about 2 years ago here on NL. Anyone who has tried entheogens understands this. |
FOLYKAZE:Escape? From where, Guantanamo? You guys are going too deep with the animism and symbolism for me to coherently follow. |
theunusualmoon:That's all good and well, but I'm going by what the books say. The bible, for example, makes it very clear that belief in Jesus CONFERS magical powers to command inanimate objects using speech. Those who can't do it, do not believe in Jesus. So when you say that you feel him and love him, I'm asking you WHO? What are you saying? Did you discard your bible or do you find a way to justify the thing to yourself? |
theunusualmoon:To quote Sigmund Freud, "one is very crazy when in love." Love can be measured with an MRI, and the same parts will light up every time. The experience can be replicated over and over, even in the body of the doubting skeptic. Science has already analyzed the physiology of it. So it's not this esoteric thing that you make it out to be I come from the Freudian school of thought, even though our increasingly politically correct society have largely dismissed his sharp observations and research. Freud proposed that life was really about sex and work. Love is the engine that keeps that life running. |
MrsChima:If one searches well, he can find almost anything. Where there is a will, there is always a way. |
Eddlad:Empty space is not empty. It's like a woman's wrapper, and can bend depending on the mass of the object occupying it. The heavier the object, the more the impact it has on the space it occupies. Keeping this in mind, is it so unusual to accept that the sheer force from such an event could result in the alignments we see today? Fill up a balloon with water, and slam it against a wall. The water will collect together neatly provided the surface on which it spills has the required property. In this case, the property of the space resulting from the explosion didn't behave towards those heavy masses as we know space to behave here on earth. The formations we see in the cosmic bodies were not done for the sake of beauty and aethestics. They were necessary arrangements mandated by the nature of all the elements involved. Beautiful things can come out of chaos, just look at the process of childbirth. If an ignorant alien were to be present during a human childbirth, they would find it hard to expect any orderly, or beautiful thing to emerge out of that gory mess of a hole. But Megan Good was born that way, and I still have a crush on her today. |
macof:This begs the question, what is an Orisa? Is it the concept of a remote and universal divinity of the likes of Thor and Allah, or is it more new age like one's own CHI or something? |
Eddlad:Missed it, not evaded. What was your question again? |
theunusualmoon:If you break down the elements involved in the mishap, every requirement was met according to the needs of nature. Paul Walker was a passenger in a vehicle that costs half a million dollars. The car is well known for being difficult to handle. Speed, car with difficult handling, potentially drunk driver, 8 lane paved street, everything was present. Those things are only accidents because they weren't PLANNED in advance. But from the point of few of nature, it was. Anyone who repeats the scenario with those exacts parameters and conditions, will meet the same fate. It's like adding 2+2. Whenever Messi scores a goal, or Lebron puts up 35, those moments don't represent accidents. This is true in spite of the fact that the goals were not planned in advance. What makes it an accident is the assumed preconceived intention of the subject. But from the point of view of nature, Paul Walker's accident consisted of all the NECESSARY and sufficient requirements. Even his own height and weight were necessary elements. Some people survive worse vehicular collisions? Why is that? |
tobechi74:Atheists from a Christian background would engage in discussions about the bible. Atheists from the Islamic background frequent Islamic discussions. They write books called INFIDEL not BACK SLIDERS. |
theunusualmoon:Yes. Nothing is an accident. The event is perfectly NATURAL and every conducive element was NECESSARY and PRESENT. Time and nature represent immovable objects. |
mcfynest:Why, when my tax dollars subsidize the "faith?" How come your own faith needs money from others? |
FOLYKAZE:Certain holy books have a recipe that guarantees victory. Do this, do that, say this, and the mountain will move. What is aborisha? |
theunusualmoon:I believe in my self as God, Folykaze just brought it to my attention that this is the same belief held by Yoruba spiritualists. The only difference is, I don't sacrifice things to MYSELF, and I don't engage in rituals or ceremonies of any kind. I present the universe as God when conventional theists begin to use their infinite regression argument to posit a remote, and historically tribalistic creator. If the God being cannot have a creator, then why should the universe have one? It is certainly vast enough to encompass all sorts of tricks that could potentially confound the human imagination. A roofer slips from the roof of a building, splattering his brains on the concrete below. Which part of that event was an accident? Think about it. Everything worked as designed, his shoes, the roof material, his pants, everything did its job according to nature. It is our ego that determines what an accident is. |
FOLYKAZE:I'm unfamiliar with Yoruba spiritualism, but I'm well aware of the different parts of human consciousness from years of psychedelic drug use. I couldn't imagine offering a sacrifice to MYSELF, but praying to oneself is not farfetched. It's akin to a sprinter who stretches before he runs. It doesn't guarantee a victory (there are other sprinters stretching too), but it allows him to generate his maximum performance at that point in time. |
DeepSight:No. But the human brain is like a special transponder, designed to convert signals at different depths of neural stimulations. This is my personal opinion after years of psychedelic inquiry. The brain itself, being composed of matter, is a product of consciousness. There is no matter without an observer. Our ego and super ego may rely on brain matter, but the ID is brain independent. |
voltron:Which God, exactly? Ha-ha-ha. |
theunusualmoon:Gods vary. I don't need proof of the unconventional ones to which Folykaze refers. A pencil, for example, is a real object. If you show me a pencil and say, 'this is God,' I won't object to your nomenclature. The most I'll do is ask for clarification. However, if you bring a book and say that it was dictated by a remote spirit person who intends for it to serve as the ultimate human guide on morality, then expect me to have some questions after reading it. Especially, if r)ape, genocide, and tribalism are being sanctioned right off the jump. |
FOLYKAZE:I believe that I exist, dude. That I decide to call myself a God is inconsequential to the fundamental argument of atheism, this God doesn't influence reality in any magical ways. Do you want me to bring up the analogy about vegetables again? |
FOLYKAZE:Must a vegetarian tell you that he doesn't HATE meat from plants. George Carlin prayed to the sun, claiming that his returns were 50/50. He also called himself an atheist. |
FOLYKAZE:I worship my higher SELF. If that is a pagan deity, then I've been schooled. There are no books, no rituals, just quick moments of acknowledgment. I only began doing that after realizing that my higher self is basically indestructible, kinda like the original Green Lantern. |
theunusualmoon:Jeezy is revered by me. That's all. Call him God or Jeezy, it really doesn't matter, it's just a play on words. Right to an opinion? Is the bible an opinion? The bible refutes ITSELF or it refutes the veracity of EVERYONE who calls himself a Christian or Jesus follower. Who said that the big bang was an accident? Does mother nature do things by accident or by her nature? It wasn't an accident. It was carefully arranged by the universe itself, not an alien or humanoid being with consciousness. |
theunusualmoon:I believe that I'm the greatest God that I know. Every human probably has the same measure though, but they have no superiority over me. For displaying his skills on the Recession album, young Jeezy became a God. But only as a revered person. In all likelihood, he carries his own personal ID but he doesn't yet know that it is God. |
mcfynest:Jesus is a white protagonist. She belongs in his company. Black people who look up to the white man are more psychotic. |
How come ALL the photos are blurry images showing people and NOTHING else? |
theunusualmoon:You believe that you have identified the creator of the universe and he is the one who authored your holy book. Trying to conceal that argument behind a more generic God is being disingenuous. Isolate what YOU call God, and I'll tell you why I don't believe in it. |
FOLYKAZE:According to your village logic, the vegetarian would be wrong for making that statement because garden eggs and bananas have meat too. You're so confused to the point where you don't understand your own confusion. Which God are you talking? There are different Gods, just like meat can come from both animals and plants. The vegetarian is implying animal meat, and I'm talking about conventional theism. There are many different Gods within the arena of conventional theism, and my reasons for dismissing each one vary. |
theunusualmoon:Gods exists, no question. I'm an example. Certain Gods are fake and imaginary though. I have a list of Gods that I believe in and a list of Gods that I dismiss. So actually, I don't understand where you're going. Do you want me to tell you why I disbelieve in conventional deities like the one you pray to, or why I believe in the ones that I do? |
Pastor children are mostly FREAKS. But she looks 22. A family just moved in the house next to mine and their 16 yr son looks like he's 35 minimum. The guy is at least 240 pounds and looks like he just got released from prison. |
