Fans of Burna Boy reacted angrily as the Nigerian star cancelled his show in Netherlands very late in the night.
After waiting for hours to see Burnaboy perform in Netherlands, people were shocked that he canceled his show without prior notice and for no conceivable reason
Taking to his Instagram handle, Burna Boy posted “ Netherlands! I’m so excited to be here and I was so excited to see you all tonight.
“I am constantly humbled and in awe of the love and support I get from you all!
“Thank you for coming and waiting just to see us. I will forever appreciate that I’m hurt that I couldn’t see you tonight even though I really wanted to.
“We want to make sure you get the best “love Damini” experience possible and that won’t have happened today for a number of reasons.
“My amazing team have been hard at work trying to salvage it but we couldnt do it in time. I’ll be announcing a new date in a few hours so watch out for it.”
However, the excuse seems not be enough as no reason was clearly stated by Burna Boy.
A Nigerian identified as Oluwaseun who attended the show said:
“Most people here (at the concert) are students, you made your show rated 6, children waiting in line for 6 hours, the stadium wasn’t even open and queues were long. Burna boy if you had the fame like Wizkid and Davido you would have used everybody’s head to mop the floor.”
He further stated that supporters of Burna Boy had to sleep at the train station because there were no more trains as at the time the show was canceled.
Another attendee also said: “Burna Boy kept fans waiting for over 5 hours only to postpone his show in Netherland. This is really horrible.”
Having bungled the somewhat goodwill that brought him to office as the 6th executive governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, no doubt, has realised that dancing around the state alone can't fetch him the needed second term in 2026. Just seven months in the saddles, he has lost the grip of governance. He now struggles to pay pension and salary, couldn't fulfil his pre-election social contract of offsetting salary arrears before 100 days in office and social contract of transforming the State of the Living Spring to a mini London. His only achievements thus far are an installation of few poorly built pit-latrines and a construction of substandard roads, 1km in all, across the state! He has realised that his fans are deeply disappointed in him, despite the huge allocation, close to N100billion, accrued to the state since his inauguration last November.
Therefore, given his uninspiring performance, the prevailing local and national politics, the dancing governor might have been informed that the most desirable option available to him is rejoining the All Progressives Congress so as to protect his mandate and the business interest of his elder brother and sponsor, Dr Deji Adeleke.
The senior Adeleke, father of the ace singer, Davido, is known for his involvement in the energy/power sector in the country. His Pacific Energy Limited operates the Olorunsogo Power Company located in Ogun State and Omotosho Power Company located in Ondo State.
Since 2006 when the company acquired the two power plants (partly though), it has made significant exploits that now demand it gives more push for it to have a better hold in the industry. To fulfil its vision, the company in 2021 expressed its interest to invest in some plants put up for sale by the Bureau of Public Enterprises ( BPE). The five plants affected are in Geregu, Omotosho, Olorunsogo, Calabar and Benin-Ihovbor. The plants are 100 per cent for sale, in line with the policy of divesting government shares from thermal generating plants.
Of the 36 firms which submitted EOIs (Expression of Interests) for the power privatisation, 16 firms were shortlisted July 2022, including Deji Adeleke's Pacific Energy. But the process to land the deal is not a child's play. It involves many behind-the-scenes.
Can a sensible government allow an unfriendly investor control its power sector? The Adelekes know the answer, reason they have literally relocated to Aso Villa, running kitikiti to be in the good book of the new president. Or how many times, since emergence of Asiwaju Tinubu as country's president, have you seen the big mannequin in Abere issue his usual kindergatten press statements to deride Jagaban or his blood, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediate past governor of Osun State?
The Adelekes know they must shed their combative posturing... and better behave themselves, else their life-time ambition would suffer an eternal damnation. Because Tinubu won't stay akimbo while his party members in Osun are taken to Golgotha to be bludgeoned to death with reckless abandon, as it was the case in recent elections where close to thirty (30) APC members were gruesomely killed for the governing party in the state to earn their pyrrhic victories.
They know Tinubu won't subscribe to any election short of decency. And poignantly, they know it is a tall order for them to win a free-and-fair election under the unpopular, tattered and accursed umbrella. Reason the speculated migration back to APC is possibly number one on their wish-list.
JohnBullMySon: it's just because Metawalle has political connections with APC.
All the ones Wike did, where were the courts?
He is right. The new Governor goofed, its gat PROCEDURES, but fresh man took laws into his hand, forgotten his tenure go end one day too! Such government no dey do well, go ask Imo people what happened to Gov wey fight okorocha ? Use one leg drop for Edo ask them after Oshiomhole, the Governor wey run things
Queendera: JUST IN: Fake DSS Personnel Arrested in Makurdi
In a dramatic turn of events, a fake Department of State Services (DSS) personnel has been arrested in Makurdi for impersonating a security operative. Reports indicate that the imposter was working as an orderly to a woman who had been parading herself as the Acting First Lady to Governor Hyacinth Alia.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect's cover was blown after concerned citizens raised alarms over certain suspicious activities taking place within the state capital. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the individual in question was not affiliated with the DSS but had been masquerading as a member of the agency.
Following his arrest, the fake DSS personnel was summarily handed over to his "colleagues" from the DSS for onward interrogation. The security agency has since assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter and those found guilty of any wrongdoing, will face the full wrath of the law.
The incident has once again brought to light the issue of security breaches and the need for adequate measures to be put in place to ensure the safety of citizens and the preservation of law and order within the country. The public is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
BetterHeadline: Last month, in France, a Muslim man told an underage girl with whom he had been chatting on Facebook, "I will burn you all. I will cut your throats. I will rape you and your mother because I have the right to do so."
BitterTruth0001: We have returned all the vehicles to the premises of Federal High Court, Gusau, as I speak to you now, no single vehicle is in police custody,” Abubakar said.
Returned ? Or deposited at ? When I saw the headline , I thought they meant the vehicles were returned to the ex-governor. Which was a shocking as there’s a pending order directed that the vehicles be domiciled in custody of the court .
For this country! Its as good as returned to oga, na One by one, e go comot from court.
kokoA: What could have resulted in bloodletting was yesterday averted as a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer and a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) engaged in fisticuffs over food at an event organised by the Department of Parks and Recreation, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to mark the 2023 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.
The faceoff could have degenerated but for the quick intervention of some of the guests, including journalists who were still at the venue, as other aggrieved corps members were prepared to join the bandwagon and vent anger on the aggressors.
The event held at the office of the department, located within the one of the military barracks Asokoro, was packed with guests, many of whom left in anger because of the underhand attitude of some staff of the department, who hoarded the food and drinks meant for guests.
The fight ensued when a uniformed-NSCDC officer pounced on a male youth corps member in a subtle bid to grab a bag containing packs of rice and drinks from him.
The corps member, who spoke under anonymity, said he tried to explain to the officer that the food packs were meant for his colleagues, who were invited for the event, but his explanation fell on deaf ears.
One of the NSCDC officers said it was wrong for the corps member to be dragging food with one of their men.
“He is wearing NYSC uniform but can’t express himself in the public, yet he has the guts to disrespect a civil defence official because of food and our people were just looking at them. This is bad. My concern is not about the food but how he was fighting with a uniformed person.
“I am angry with some of our men who were looking at the whole thing instead of manhandling the guy,” the NSCDC officer said.
money121: In what could be described as a confirmation of the words of the Holy Bible in Proverbs 22:29, which says, "Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men (KJV)", Aminat Yusuf, the genius Law scholar who emerged the Best Graduating Student in the 40year history of Lagos State University with a perfect CGPA of 5.0 in the ongoing 26th Convocation Ceremonies of the University, was on Sunday, 18th June 2023, hosted by the traditional ruler of Iba Kingdom, Oba Adeshina Suleiman Okikiola Raji Ashade, the Oniba Ekun of Iba, to celebrate her uncommon feat.
According to the revered king, whose kingdom is one of the host communities of LASU, Aminat's feat was being celebrated not only to open doors of such greatness for his own children, but also to serve as an inspiration to young people in the kingdom that hard work truly pays.
The Oniba, who is also set to be awarded the Honorary Doctorate Degree at the University's Convocation, commended Aminat for achieving the feat and prayed for her before carrying out a gesture that left many attendees at the event, including the girl's parents, momentarily stunned.
With the Five Hundred Thousand Naira awarded to her by the University Management on Wednesday, 14th June being the first of the windfall to greet her extraordinary performance, the second public harvest of the fruit of her hard work arrived when the Oniba presented her with a cheque of Two Million Naira in the presence of other traditional rulers and chiefs, members of the University Management and family members of the girl who had attended the event.
Unable to contain their joy, Aminat and her parents, who had escorted her to the King's palace, wept for joy in what is sure to be the second of many largesse to follow in the coming days.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, expressed her gratitude to God for making the day a reality and extended her appreciation to the Oniba for his numerous contributions to the development of LASU, a situation that informed his conferment with the Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Senate of the University.
On the invitation of the VC, dean of the Faculty of Law, from where Aminat graduated, Prof. Kareem Olatoye, extolled her virtues as a diligent, consistent and tenacious lady who should be a role model to other young people. He also thanked the VC for providing a conducive environment for Aminat and her ilk to succeed.

The kings of Akesan and Isolo Kingdoms, traditional rulers from surrounding communities, officials of the University and members of the Oniba's immediate and extended families were also at the event.
Aminat Yusuf will join over Ten Thousand others who would be conferred with the Award of Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters Degree on Wednesday, 21st June 2023 at the Convocation Ceremonies of the University.
The Zamfara Police Command on Saturday said it had returned all vehicles it seized from former governor of the state, Bello Matawalle.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday via telephone conversation.
Abubakar said the vehicles were returned in compliance with the order of Federal High Court sitting in Gusau.
The court, presided by Justice Aminu Bappah-Aliyu had on June 15, ordered all security agencies that removed the vehicles from Matawalle’s houses in Gusau and Maradun, to return them within 48 hours. NAN reports that security operatives removed the vehicles from the two houses on the order of the State government.
The court gave all parties involved in the invasion of the former governor’s houses 48 hours to comply with the order.
“Yes, the police command has complied with the court order as regards to returning of all vehicles belonging to the former governor, Bello Matawalle.
“We have returned all the vehicles to the premises of Federal High Court, Gusau, as I speak to you now, no single vehicle is in police custody,” Abubakar said.
The court also gave an order of interim injunction restraining the respondents in the suit filed by Matawalle from taking any further action in connection with the matter. The respondents include the Inspector-General of Police, Nigeria Police Force and Commissioner of Police, Zamfara.
Others are the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The court further ordered the security agencies to stay away from all actions, pending the hearing and determination of the matter before it.
Suleiman Idris, spokesperson to Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, had earlier said more than 40 vehicles were recovered from the two houses of the former governor.
He also confirmed that the security agencies took the action on the directive of the state government.
FreeStuffsNG: Lagos building demolitions not targeted at Igbo – Ohanaeze 18th June 2023
By Ayoola Olasupo
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has faulted reports about the decision of the Lagos State Government taking actions to victimise Igbo who are residents in the state.
This followed several reactions to the demolition process embarked upon by the state government at the Alaba International Market in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state.
General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Gbolahan Oki, had earlier announced during an assessment visit to the market on Friday that the planned demolition of some of the buildings had been marked with quit notice since 2016, adding that the process had been greeted with criticism with claims that the decision was targeted at Igbo people in the market.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Igbo organisation, Alex Ogbonnia, said in a statement on Saturday that the group had carried out investigations about the matter and had been able to establish the true state of affairs.
He added that the President General of the group, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, while calling for calm amongst the Igbo occupants of the market, urged the state government and the state’s Environment and Development Authority to be prudent and goal-oriented during the demolition exercise.
The statement partly read, “The attention of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been drawn to several fake publications circulating on social media alleging a decision by the Lagos State Government to take actions to victimize the Igbo citizens domiciled in Lagos. Since the disturbing news broke out, we have made investigations in order to establish the true state of affairs.”
