DrMB: If Peter Obi desires to win the next election, he must master how to outsmart the Nigerian political blueprint, and that is a very tough call. Peters was more than just an actor—he was a director, storyteller, and talent nurturer, whose projects touched countless lives. He played a central role in bridging the gap between traditional theatre and modern TV sitcoms, producing shows that brought everyday Lagos stories to living rooms across the world.
AustineE1: If there is elections tomorrow and both are contesting,Obi will still beat him stupor,Lagosians are enlightened and not the agbado data boys....btw the only thing you lots are counting on,is use of violence, intimidation, outright rigging, state sponsored crisis and so on.
I can bet you today,if there is a free and fair elections without the shenanigans of the ruling party,Lagos will again make the right decision.
Why do you think he is unleashing all his arsenal on Peter Obi,what do you think is the reason why certain people are being intimidated in such a way that they may leave Lagos.Mind you this is not just about an ethnic group,it is a battle all well meaninh Nigerians in Lagos, regardless of ethnic group, fought together.
You are engaging in selective amnesia and disinformation here! OR do you think others have short memories?
First off, Peter ONLY won by 3,000 votes in Lagos State and he's not gonna win in Lagos again because of the hostile abuses and disrespectful comments targeting many prominent Yoruba folks. The Yoruba supporters of Obi contributed a lot to his winning of that election by that margin but people are already leaving him after seeing the light (due to the intolerable tribal bigotry of a large number of Peter's kinsmen and followers that weren't addressed after complaints were made but arrogantly waved off) such as the U.S.-trained legal practitioner, Ope Banwo and another strong supporter and young, wealthy businessman, Akin Olaoye (Akin Tollgate).
BELOW is the CLEAR video of a brave Elderly Man who was openly Assaulted For voting APC In Anambra State in 2023. Tell us a lie that APC members and from other political parties such as PDP were NOT assaulted in the East of river Niger. There's even more video evidence.

Go to the location, the place is still operational. Oniru family and others indigenes lost far more yet there's no nonsense wailing.
That "boy" you quoted is known for always typing totally skewed, tribalistic and bigoted comments here.
Indeed, the beautiful multi-million USD MamiChula Beach Resort and other nearby resorts or event hubs owned by wealthy Yoruba businessmen were totally demolished because of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway WITHOUT Yoruba folks making a noise or making themselves look really stupi I. d like these people did with their online propaganda because that main Landmark building is still standing. ONLY the buildings that encroached on the water front were demolished.
Bolaji Ariyo of the high-octane MamiChula Beach being demolished in the Channels Television video report right BELOW lost virtually everything but NO noise and/or emotional blackmail was made though quite painful initially. That's emotional maturity for you.

kettykin: This is the calm before a storm that only the blind fail to see. From Landmark to Peter Obi to many others lulled into slumber by false hope that investing in Lagos is their only optoon like some igbos in the north believedin the past, the writing is boldly on the wall: Nigeria is in free fall.
If the East doesn’t rise now collectively, boldly, and strategically to build a self-sustaining regional economy, then what’s coming will make today feel like a mild tremor before the earthquake.
We’ve seen this movie before. Remember how Boko Haram began? Northern elites turned a blind eye or even quietly cheered as bombs targeted Igbo lives in Niger State, Suleja, and Kaduna. It wasn’t until the Igbos turned inward economically and strategically that they began to limit the damage. Today, that monster has consumed its creators.
In five years or less, the current wave of anti-people policies will metastasize into something ungovernable. A monster with no leash. If the East doesn't act decisively, history won’t just repeat,it will escalate.
Imagine if the jews invest very heavily right inside Iran or other Jewish hating countries like Yemen , Russia, on the flimsy excuse that it is the heartbeatof the economy, what economy exactlyare we ranting about here, this is only the beginners guide on how not to invest in hostile territory.

In 2018, it was gathered that herdsmen from Mpu in Enugu State invaded farmlands in Akaeze community, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and destroyed crops, which angered one of the farmers, who was butchered when he confronted them.
The incident had forced Governor David Umahi to ban grazing in the entire Ivo LGA until investigation into the matter was concluded. Umahi summoned an emergency security meeting with security chiefs in the state, leaders of the herdsmen, local government chairmen and stakeholders in the local government and set up a 10-man committee to investigate the attacks.
In December 2019, a suspected herdsman, Laulo Isa, 20, allegedly raped a 54-year-old woman, Mrs Mary Okereke, to death. The suspect said alcohol and anger pushed him into committing the crime.
The incident happened in Ugwulangwu community, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state on December 28, 2019, while the victim was on her way home from the farm.

Rebuker: A man has taken to social media to express his frustration after suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly destroyed his 20-acre cassava farm in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.
He shared his ordeal, saying:
"I arrived at the farm yesterday only to witness the devastation caused by roaming Fulani herdsmen on our 20-acre cassava plantation. Despite investing heavily in chain-link fencing around the perimeter, these intruders still managed to break in overnight, causing massive destruction. Now, I truly understand why the farmer-herdsmen conflict persists in this country."
He further explained that they had just finished harvesting corn from the farm, leaving only the cassava plants to mature. Unfortunately, the herdsmen allegedly invaded the farm overnight and destroyed everything.

Food inflation remains a problem in Nigeria, with a current rate of 36% food inflation year-on-year. With farmers unable to engage in farming, or see the produce of their efforts in harvest season, the situation is unlikely to improve.
With the government unable/unwilling to effectively combat the menace, it remains a persistent problem threatening the Nation's 200 million population.
I didn't know that foreign Fulani herdsmen cattle ALSO eat plantain farms up.

Farmersforum: MY ORDEAL WITH FULANI HERDSMEN IN OYO NORTH, OYO STATE – OLUSOLA AGORO Its high time all farmers in Nigeria came together to fight this course, both state and federal government have to be called into order, Food production is one of the basic necessities of life, why should some set of people feel other should abandon their means of livelihood for them. A Fulani man once told me all the land in Nigeria belongs to them.
Earlier this year, I am to manage a small portion of farmland just 100 hectares of maize farm in Wasimi village, before Ado-awaye, towards Iseyin in Oyo North Local Government area of Oyo state. This village in question has massive farmland of about 50,000 hectares or more. The fertility of the farmlands and a number of plough-able farmland available in the environment attracted me into the venture.
As a renown agriprenuerist with vase knowledge in crop farming and the national coordinator of Nigeria farmer’s forum, I saw opportunity for my forum members and other agroprenuers . While working on the farmland, I noticed that the population of Fulanis outnumbered the indigenes in the areas. Cattles population is also massive; their huts are all over the bushes.
Preplanting operations started on 15th of March, 2019 while the first maize seed was planted in 13th May, 2019. It is a semi – mechanized farm with appropriate plant population, organic and aflatoxin treated maize in mind and planed for. By 13th June, the 1-month old planted farm is already the talk of the town and a semi tourist for other farmer in the village; Sola Agoro popularly called Manager in the areas become a proud educated farmer manager – Other farmers ask questions and become agricultural extension officer, offering them my free services and advise as usual.
My ordeal started on 15th of June, 2019 when I got to the farm and discovered cattle have been feasting on the highly rated maize farm. Prior to that time, meetings have been organized between the Farm Management and all the Seriki Fulani within the environment and a Fulani guy has been employed as a guard to the farm, he was recommended to us by the Sarikis .
The guard said the only solution is to contact the cattle owner with the farm vicinity to relocate, unless there nothing we can do. A meeting was organized and I made Fulani owner of the cattle to understand the implication of what his cow was doing to the farm- He begged and promise to relocate, so I did not demand for any compensation for the damages, contrary to the Policemen’s view, because the case has been reported and police had visited the farm before the meeting. He relocated on Tuesday 18th June. we visited his hut around 10am and took pictures and made video- and feeling like the Israelite who has failing the wall of Jericho.
At around 12 noon, while relaxing under a tent around the farm, I couldn’t believe my eyes when about 35 cattle emerged from a nearby bush and started destroying the farm. I was on the farm with 6 boys, we all have to move towards the cattle and stared chasing them. The Fulani boys ( a bad guy) abandoned his cows and absconded. 22 cows were rounded up by my workers, while a made a call to Police DPO who said we should keep on following the cows that between 6-7pm they will go back to their base and effect arrest after then.
Suddenly, we became cattle rarer, (the worst 3 hours of my life) I stumbled in the bush a couple of time while chasing the cows and taking pictures – None of the cattle boys around could give any information about the cows, the rearing lasted about 3 hours, I was very tired, 2 of my boys were already missing – at that point I had to withdrew my worker and returned to our farm house.
That was around 4pm, the police DPO advised us to add about 2 or 3 hours to the raring but my strength can no longer carry it. So I decided to go and look for my Fulani guard who I believed he should identify the cattle in my pictures. Some of the cattle were marked so with the mark he should recognize them. So we all left the farm, found the 2 missing boys and got the Fulani guard.
The guard couldn’t recognize the cows in my pictures and he asked the supervisor join him immediately to pick a trail on the farm. About an hour later, I got a chock of my life through a phone call, the same set of cows were found on the farm feasting on it (an assumed deliberate action of the Fulani boys) 2nd chase by our Fulani guard and the farm supervisor continued.
At about 8pm, they returned and said they had found their base, so in the morning we arranged with the Police to arrest the Fulani boy. Smile, I didn’t follow them, I asked my farm supervisor who was with the Fulani guard the previous to lead the team. Surprisingly, they were lead to the claws of Fulani Herds men, if not for the intelligence of the Police, it would have different story, none of the said cows were found at the base no relationship between the cows in the pictures and the one found at the base. A fight was about to break out, settled with police guns and they departed – we just lost police support:
My supervisor and the guard was taken out of the plan immediately as got the news and re-strategized myself – I am a Certified Security Specialist (CSS) thank God for NIIS and Major O. Motgomery - the training was not a waste. I worked with 4 boys, found the right location the same day and met with the police DPO in a Night Club; the following day- an attack was lunched around 6.30am and arrest was made. We collected a soft compensation from them. They were surprised of our level intelligence and we departed in a very good and friendly mood.
The compensation was paid at a point of no grievances; they are comfortable with it - They will not re-attack the farm or anyone - they saw it as a good deal, and they accepted obvious gratitude. - If we decided to be adamant on huge claim, then we should be ready to quit the farm for them.
LESSON LEARNT: • Our Farms were in 4 locations A, B , C and D; which is not ideal for Commercial Agricultural. • If it is 100 hectares it MUST be on the same point to avoid herds men attack on the farm. The bigger, larger and openness of the farm, the better and herds men will be afraid to come near. • When trees are surrounding a farms the proximity of herds men attack is high • Lastly, No Fulani man will expose his brother – So we cannot use Fulani against Fulani herds men.

Yes, the same Somali ravaged by war and political instability. The same Somali where the Islamic terrorist group, Alshabaab, has been holding sway long before our own Boko Haram was conceived.
So Somali exports small ruminant livestock abroad. But where are the livestock in Nigeria going to? Definitely not overseas.
I have read somewhere that more than 100 million livestock are produced in Nigeria, which of course has a much larger internal market than Somali. However, I am not sure between the two countries who produces more livestock. One thing that is sure is that even at the current livestock production rate, Nigeria is still far from being self-sufficient in meat consumption. Many people do not eat meat as regularly as they should. Others resort to bush meat, but still on an irregular basis.
Most of the cattle, sheep and goats produced in Nigeria come from the North. Of course, there is small-scale production of these animals in the south, and a much larger scale production of chicken and pig in the south than goat, sheep and cattle. In the absence of export of livestock by Nigeria, one presumes that all the animals not consumed in northern Nigeria are shipped to southern Nigeria. Indeed, it is a daily sight seeing truckloads upon truckloads of these animals heading to Enugu, Lagos, Umuahia, Aba, Port Harcourt and Ibadan, from where they are distributed to other southern cities. That is the power of our huge population and the relative affluence of the average southerner, compared to the average northerner.
Now playing the devil's advocate a little bit. Let's assume for a second that Nigeria splits, say into North and South. Within the time it takes for the different splinter zones to figure themselves out, who buys the livestock from the North? Keep in mind that the North does not have ready access to the sea, neither does it have a rail line extending outside Nigeria, nor would its closest neighbors, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin, be needing their livestock that much, if at all, since they also have theirs.
And for the south, where would they get their meat from while the arrival of ships loads of imported foreign meat is awaited?
Bump.
Somalia is now a crude oil-producing country with vast reserves of oil and gas.
Investigative: IGBO HAD NO BUSINESS WITH THE ITSHEKIRI: A historical Perspective.
Look at this map very well. When the Portuguese arrived in the 15th century, they partitioned two main places they traded. Bight of Benin and Bight of Biafra.
The word "Biafra" is a Portuguese name, not an Igbo name. Bight of Biafra was bigger than Bight of Benin.
The Igbo hinterland, Ibibio, Efik and all the tribes found in old Calabar, Rivers were all under Bight of Biafra.
You can see the rest by the left under Bight of Benin. Bight of Benin was also known as Slave Coast.
There was later a Bight of Bonny which was formerly under Bight of Biafra.
The European slave traders who operated majorly under the Bight of Biafra include: Daniel Backhouse, William Boats, William Davenport, George Case and John Shaw.
At this time, slave trade was a huge business all over Nigeria. The Benin Empire comprising Itshekiri, Urhobo, Edo and co were dealing in slave trade, selling their own people. The same way Igbo and Yoruba and Efik, in fact everyone was doing the same business.
The Igbo slave traders had two concentrated Seaports they focused on under the Bight of Biafra. Such ports are: Calabar Port and Bonny Port. Bonny was the busiest. The Yoruba were doing theirs in Badagry, having the highest slave concentration. Badagry to Benin Republic.
How do you expect an Arọ man to leave Calabar and Bonny closer to him, under his own territory to travel long distance of Benin to trade in slave or Itshekiri?
The Igbo who did business with Bini traded in bronze, copper, medicine, etc. Igbo were known also for herbs and healing.
When you read "Igbo Worlds" by Professor Elizabeth Isichei, it states that most people in Anịọma didn't have any encounter with the Arọ but Nshi people. Nshi was the name Nri was called in the past. The progenitor of Ọgwashị-Ukwu was an Nri man.
The business of the Igbo slave dealers was working as middlemen. They get slaves, hand over to the European trade dealers, collect their money and hunt for others. This was the same business with other tribes in Nigeria as at that time.
Igbo were travelers. They did businesses with Benin as I said earlier. Most account established that Eze-Chima— a progenitor of Ọnịcha was a medicine man to Ọba. The question is, Eze Chima is it an Edo name?
Around 1620 as the Portuguese and Italian merchants invaded Bini Empire, a certain business man known as Obua Ajukwu migrated from Benin with his people and settled in a place now known as Ugwuta (Oguta). It was this man who took Jaja of Opobo of Amaigbo to Bonny for an apprenticeship. Jaja worked out his freedom and became a successful businessman under the mentorship of Obua Ajukwu.
Ọba of Benin needed the Igbo working for him more than the Igbo working for him needed him. His personal medicine man had to return to hinterland. He came back with all his family. Of course there must have been mixture of Edo people in that journey, hence Ọnịcha is founded through Eze Chima.
Itshekiri had the first encounter with the Portuguese in 15th century. They were also amongst the first to get western education. They traded in slave trade as well. There was no way Itshekiri man could find his way to Igbo land to enslave anyone. They worked as middlemen, handling their own people to the Europeans just as every other person was doing. Those in Benin Empire would get slaves, Itshekiri people would help and pass them to the European trade dealers.
Itshekiri currently has no dialectal variations which experts said must have been caused by their early contact with the Europeans and mixture of slaves who couldn't find their ways but settle there. How can those slaves assuming they are Igbo form their language, still remain there, whereas the Itshekiri has no dialectal variations like other languages? Itshekiri had no business with Igbo but Bini, Yoruba, Ịjọ. It was grouped under the Yoruboid.
Ginuwa, the Itsekiri founder and first olu (king), was originally a prince of Benin, so that subsequent kings are descendants of the Ọba of Benin. Lesser chiefs once met as a council and advised the olu. Chieftaincy is being redefined in conformity with modern government, and some settlements do not participate in chieftaincy at all.
In that axis, Itshekiri served as middlemen for Europeans, getting goods from Bini empire and supplying to Europeans. Such goods include humans, palm oil, bronze, copper, etc.
The Portuguese also made their ways to other regions. That was when Igbo called them ndị Potokiri.
"The British broke the Itshekiri trade monopoly in 1890's then the flourishing Itshekiri economy went into decline" (Encyclopedia Britannica)
Remember, the Igbo gave the colonial administrations headache. Is it the Edo or Itshekiri that could enslave the Igbo? Even if you accuse Anịọma of being slaves to Edo or Itshekiri are you referring to Anịọma Igbo that fought Ekumeku resistance for 30 years against the British intrusion? With all the European sophistications, the Igbo fought them and dealt with them, frustrate them, na small Itshekiri or Edo go enslave them?
Remember, the Igbo sold to the Europeans by their kins, many refused. Instead of being slaves, they killed themselves. Many jumped into the sea. Read about the Igbo landing in America. They said over their dead body, being slave? They jumped into the water and got drowned.
That shows who the Igbo are. You can't just wake up and toy with them, then go scot free. They rather die than allowing you enslave them. looking at the map you will understand there was no contact of igbo and itsekiri
That so-called "Ibo" landing was NOT a sign of any bravery contrary to the post above and other propaganda posts online, BUT was caused by panic on the slave ship due to fear. This is based on legitimate historical accounts from FIRST-HAND sources not based on historical revisionism.
The slave ship also had many people on board who were NOT Ibo, but from other ethnic groups as well. So, why make it look like all of those slaves on board were Ibos.
Kindly let me have an answer to this... What is the name of the MT5 indicator you used on the chart screenshots showing those "TRIANGLES" on the wicks of the candle sticks?
per cent electrification, Nigeria faces significant energy poverty, making solar energy a viable solution for bridging the electricity gap, especially in rural areas.
Executive Director of LPV Technologies’, Yinka Adelodun, said the company’s state-of-the-art facility was built to address challenges in the renewable energy sector, including supply chain disruptions and reliance on imported panels.
The factory, located near the popular Synagogue Church of All Nations founded by the late Pastor T.B. Joshua in Ikotun, Lagos, was unveiled recently, with executives leading a tour of the facility to showcase its capabilities.
The company began developing the facility nearly two years ago as part of a broader mission to deploy solar infrastructure at scale.
The company sees large-scale local production and the integration of solar with other energy sources, such as gas, as the key to achieving sustainable power generation for the economy.
“It’s one thing for you to say you have a facility like this; it’s another thing to actually see it and confirm it exists, Adelodun told reporters. “Today, while many are putting solar panels on their roofs as a band-aid, the real solution lies in harnessing solar and gas to power our economy sustainably.”
The government has introduced policies like the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policy and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan to promote solar adoption. Public-private partnerships and international collaborations are also advancing solar projects.
Related News NASENI, REA to cut solar panel cost NDE trains youths in solar power installation FG commissions 85KWP solar for Gombe rural users The executive explained that the facility was created to resolve significant issues faced by the industry, such as developers ordering panels months in advance only to have their shipments delayed by customs or storage issues.
“You can call us and say, ‘I want five megawatts of solar panels,’ and we will produce it on demand,” he said.
Adelodun emphasised that by controlling the supply chain, the company would be able to ensure that every panel meets rigorous quality standards.
During the facility tour, company officials demonstrated the production process, highlighting advanced automation and quality control measures designed to meet global standards.
LPV Technologies’ production line uses PERC technology and can manufacture panels ranging from 550-watt to 720-watt configurations. The company says its current capacity is 100 megawatts but plans to expand as demand grows.
“Our panels are engineered to last over 25 years,” said the company’s Head of Operations, Emmanuel Agboola, emphasising LPV Technologies’ investment in advanced technology and rigorous quality control.
Head of Business Development and Marketing, Juwon Solarin, said the company is expanding its distribution network and inviting more partners to promote locally made solar panels.

TimeManager: A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, admitted Olamide Thomas, who allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu and the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, with death threat on social media, to a N10 million with one surety in like sum.
Justice Emeka Nwite, in a ruling on Thomas’ bail application, said there was no concrete evidence placed before the court by the prosecution that the defendant would jump bail.
“I have carefully examined the affidavit evidence of both the defendant and the complainant,” he said.
Justice Nwite held that where the accused person would not jump bail or interfere with the trial, it is in the interest of justice for the court to grant the bail request.
The judge, who ordered the surety to depose to affidavit of means, also directed the surety to present three years tax clearance certificate. He said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Justice Nwite equally ordered the defendant and the surety to deposit two recent passport photographs with the registrar of the court and the address of the surety should be verified.
The judge consequently adjourned the matter until Feb. 18 for trial.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Nwite had, on Dec. 31, adjourned the matter for ruling after T.J. Aondo, who appeared for Thomas, and lawyer to the prosecution, Victor Okoye, made their submissions for and against the bail application.
NAN reports that Thomas was, on Dec. 20, arraigned and remanded at Suleja Correctional Centre after she pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against her by the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police.
Thomas was arrested on allegations bordering on harassing and threatening Seyi Tinubu; the I-G, Kayode Egbetokun and the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a viral social media post.
In the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/636/2024 dated and filed on Dec 18 by the police team of lawyers led by A.A. Egwu, Olamide was sued as sole defendant.
NAN reports that in count one, Olamide was alleged to have, sometime in 2024, knowingly and intentionally transmitted communication in the form of video recording through computer system or network on her social media platforms wherein she made remarks in Yoruba Language.
In the video, she was alleged to have stated “that Mr Seyi Tinubu would die this year, and misfortune and calamity had befallen the Tinubu family, with intent to bully, threaten, harass the person of Mr Seyi Tinubu.”
The communication was said to have placed Seyi in fear of death, violence or bodily harm.
In count two, the defendant was alleged to have intentionally transmitted communication in the form of video recording wherein she made remarks in Yoruba Language to bully, threaten, harass the person of Mr Egbetokun.
The communication was said to have placed Egbetokun in fear of death, violence or bodily harm.
The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 24 (2) (a) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.
In count three, Olamide was accused of intentionally transmitting or causing the transmission of communication in the form of video recording wherein she made remarks in Yoruba Language, stating that the children of Adejobi would all die before his eyes.
She was quoted to have also said that “he (Adejobi) will bury all his children in a single day, with Intent to bully, threaten, harass the person of Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi.”
The communication was said to have placed Adejobi in fear of death of his loved ones. The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 24 (2) (a) of Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.
iwaeda: ... As People shunned chicken during Christmas and new year celebrations In this interview, the Director General, DG, Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN, Dr Onallo Akpa, narrates the losses incurred by poultry farmers during Christmas and New Year celebrations as many Nigerians snubbed chicken purchases for other commodities based on their purchasing power: Excerpts:
How was the production of chicken ahead of the festivities like? The preparations of poultry farmers for the Christmas and New Year festivities were highly expectant as, traditionally, there was the belief that Christmas and New Year seasons are periods that every family no matter how poor will be able to afford chicken for the festivals.
Hence, there were heavy investments in broiler production, especially the backyard small-scale poultry producers across the country.
Despite the high cost of Day Old Chicks, DOCs, orchestrated by demands for production for Christmas and the abnormally high cost of poultry feeds, poultry farmers stocked while expecting to sell at Christmas and New Year. There was virtually no family involved in poultry production that never stocked broilers for Christmas – with the expectations that whatever might be the reasons, there will be sales.
What were the challenges poultry farmers encountered during this period? Sales and patronage at Christmas and New Year..in contrast to the expectations of most poultry farmers, all they produced could not be sold. Surprisingly, over 50 per cent of broilers produced for sale at Christmas could not be sold because of the low purchasing power of the people.
Families are striving to see how they can get any kind of food for their families, and therefore, the luxury of poultry meat as protein was not a consideration during Christmas and New Year. Poultry farmers who thought of making little profit at Christmas and New Year, are, at the moment, lamenting the losses they incurred.
A random survey of our communities at the moment reveals the presence of unsold broilers. The problems of poultry farmers are compounded as they cannot continue to feed the birds as that will amount to additional cost of production in the absence of patronage.
What’s the effect of poor patronage on the poultry industry? The resultant effect of the development is that the livelihoods of the family who have had their sustenance on small family poultry production is being eroded while farmers are losing confidence in the business, leading to the closure of poultry farms all over the country. The challenge at the moment is that of the extremely high cost of production and induced purchasing power of the people.
What is the way forward in 2025?
Hope is not lost if the economy can be rejigged to look at the critical sectors of the agricultural economy of which the poultry sector is the low-hanging fruit with over 25 million Nigerians directly and indirectly involved in employment provision. More critical is the urgent need for the government to look at the nutrition and food security of the nation of which poultry plays a critical role.
I bought 4pcs of 6 weeks old cockerel for consumption and rear them for 6months before I slaughter the first one and I have spent over 60k naira which means each chicken consume over 15k of feeds before I even slaughter one out of it
In total i spent over 70k on feed before I ate all
Imagine spending over 70k on just 4pcs of chicken
Mind you, I bought them at 6 weeks and not as a day which means if rear from a day old, I need to vaccinate them and give them some drugs
It's not funny rearing chicken these days and brolier eat lots of feeds
