amykelly:Square65 has given you the best answer below: Square65:All you need do is start the process of filling the DS-160, take note of the application ID issued to u at the beginning (u don't have to fill the form completely) and then use the ID (which also doubles as your confirmation number) to book your appointment. And whenever you're eventually ready to fill the DS-160, do so correctly and then update your visa appointment profile with the new confirmation number. I hope you now get the picture! |
imperiouxx:At long last!!! The countdown can now begin officially. |
Square65:Go get ur visa bro , and remember to share ur story. God will go before you! |

And to think I almost gave up on getting a date in december and was this close to picking the available february date with the hope of requesting for emergency , Special thanks to imperiouxx for urging me on , |
youmailme:I can see many December dates for F1 appointment in Lagos. It's Abuja that has no dates till February. |
@ House My SEVIS FEE payment has reflected finally. I just printed the online receipt. Expecting the hard copy soon. Still looking for a Late Nov/Early Dec date for Abuja. |

Pls holla whenever u come online. imperiouxx:Congrats bro , was it Abuja? I can see the following dates for Lag: Nov 2-4, 28-29; Dec 1-2, 5-9, 12-15, 19-21. But can't see anything this year for Abuja. |

screamie: She eventually made the payment via western union. Thanks! |
seedord247:Am not anywhere near Lagos so that will be very difficult. Besides I already sent money to the US (with exorbitant charges) only for me to begin hear this kain story. Anyways, I have called the SEVIS office and they said my friend can pay in her name if the Western Union agent insists, and that they can update the information immediately after the payment is made so that my receipt will carry my own information. |
My friend in the US is trying to pay for SEVIS on my behalf. She goes to Western Union to make the payment and the agent tells her she can't fill in the form with someone else's name (meaning she can't pay on behalf of someone else). Is this a new development or has it always been this way? How on earth do they want Nigerians to pay the fee? We can't pay via credit cards, now someone can't pay on my behalf via Western Union? Abeg help me see wahala, wetin person go do now? |
Somebody pls help me out with a sample/format of acceptable sponsorship letter (from an uncle). My interview is already near. Pls send to: webstradamus(at)ymail(dot)com. Thanks!!! |
free R1:Thanks bro |
webstradamus:Somebody! Anybody!! Pls reply to my questions above ![]() |
Square65:kindly add me too cos we're all in this (Spring 2012) together ![]() webstradamus(at)ymail(dot)com |
@imperiouxx Bros abeg try reply my last email. @ALL I have just booked my appointment for Nov 9 (Abuja), the only available 2011 date I found. Can someone please help me out with a sample of a convincing Affidavit/Letter of Sponsorship (sponsor will be my uncle with a different surname)? Besides his statement of account and sponsorship letter, what other documents will I need from him? |
webstradamus:House pls help me out with your opinion on this as time is running out fast on me!!! @imperiouxx Could you please contact me via webstradamus1<at>gmail<dot>com. I need your advice on something personal. Thanks. |
cleverdude:What if I request for a new I-20 indicating family sponsorship? Am beginning to think its best to keep it simple, it's either I am self-sponsoring (which most people advised against) or being sponsored. Peeps, please what do you all think? |
Square65:Am worried about this too cos my I-20 states am self-sponsoring but based on what I've hear about this, it looks I might have to find a relative to "sponsor" me. Also do I have to wait till I get this "sponsor" before filling the DS160 or should I just fill self-sponsorship on it for the meantime and then fill in a new one if/when I get a "sponsor"? I have also just received a scanned copy of my I-20 and will like to know if SEVIS payment can be made in the UK via Western Union. |
@Kay-Dee and imperiouxx Thanks for your prompt contribution. Besides parents/uncles/aunts, what other categories of people are acceptable as sponsors? Can I use someone who's not so related? Like my Pastor, or a family friend or even a close friend who owns a big IT firm? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, am in dire straits and don't have time on my side. |
herself:Moorhead or Mankato? Am headed for Mankato Spring 2012 and just like you, i20 is on the way. @house What are your thoughts on the chances of getting the F1 as a self-sponsored student for grad studies? I've got about 3 years Post-NYSC working experience, and have over the years saved up for grad school as I do not have any relatives that can sponsor or "act as sponsor". I'd like to know if anybody (you know) has been successful in this kind of scenario. |

Congrats Cuddlemii , at long last!!! |
Brite02: Brite02:You don't have to make payment at the banks on campus. The crowd is something else there. Ironically, its easier/faster to pay anywhere else in the country than on campus but most people do not realize this even when it's explicitly stated on the website/procedure. You can make the eTranzact payment of N2,100 at all branches (and I mean, ALL BRANCHES nationwide) of the following banks listed on the website. Goodluck! |
The list of banks where payment can be made has been reduced to eight. They are: U & C Microfinance Bank UBA Group Intercontinental Bank Ecobank Fidelity Bank Plc First Bank of Nigeria Plc FinBank Plc Sterling Bank Plc Simply walk into any branch of these banks with your payment slip from the website and make an eTranzact payment of N2,100. You will be issued an eTranzact receipt containing a confirmation order number which you will use to complete your registration and generate your photocard. |
